The app aims to showcase the projects I’ve created and provide users with an alternative way to navigate my operating system. What I Added I began by designing a new desktop icon labeled “Projects,” featuring a book icon positioned next to the Journal app. Next, I set up a new window for the application that includes: A draggable header A close button A content area for displaying project details I created a JavaScript array named projectsData to store information about my projects, with each project containing: A title A description The loadProjects() function I wrote iterates through the array and dynamically generates project cards within the app. Current projects include: AppleWebOS Journal App A placeholder for future projects Challenges I Encountered This project proved significantly more challenging than developing the Journal app. I spent considerable time troubleshooting why the Projects window wouldn’t open. The primary issue stemmed from an incorrect HTML structure; I had created the window’s header and content but neglected to establish the projectsWindow container that ties everything together. As a result, JavaScript couldn’t locate: var projectsWindow = document . querySelector ( \" #projectsWindow \" ); This oversight hindered the window-opening functionality. Additionally, I mistakenly placed the projects-content div within the header instead of below it. I also mixed up several IDs, including: projects projectsWindow projectsIcon This experience reinforced the importance of maintaining consistent naming conventions as projects expand. What I Learned I discovered that organization is becoming increasingly crucial. In a growing project like HackOS, minor errors in IDs or HTML structure can disrupt entire features, such as the draggable functionality. I also learned how to dynamically generate content using JavaScript arrays rather than hardcoding everything into the HTML. Current HackOS Features HackOS now boasts several features: A top bar displaying a live clock A Welcome window A Journal application A Projects application Draggable windows Open and close functionality Dynamic content loading Next Potential Steps I aim to continue enhancing HackOS by adding more applications and refining the visual design. Some ideas on my list include: Improved window animations Additional projects within the Projects app A settings application Enhanced styling More interactive desktop features HackOS is progressively evolving into a functioning operating system rather than just a simple webpage."}, {"post_id": 9229, "ts": "2026-06-15T14:34:14Z", "hours": 0.6919, "text": "Devlog 4 - Creating My First App: Journal Today, I launched my first application for my personal operating system: the Journal app. I added an app icon to the desktop, allowing users to open the Journal window only when its icon is clicked, rather than having every window open automatically upon loading the website. I incorporated several systems I had previously built, including draggable windows, open and close functionality, and reusable styling. App Structure Inside the Journal app, I created a sidebar and a content area. The sidebar lists various journal entries, while the main section displays the contents of the selected entry. To keep the code organized and avoid hardcoding, I stored the journal entries in a JavaScript array of objects. Each object includes: A title A date The HTML content for that entry I developed JavaScript functions to: Dynamically generate the sidebar entries Show the selected journal content Open and close the Journal window Keep the Journal hidden when the page initially loads Challenges Faced During development, I encountered several bugs. At one point, the Journal window appeared inside the top bar due to incorrect HTML structure. I also accidentally created duplicate IDs and nested windows, which led to both windows moving simultaneously when dragged. After resolving these issues, the operating system became much more organized and interactive. Current Features The following features have been implemented: Welcome window Desktop top bar with a live clock Draggable windows Open and close buttons Desktop application icons Journal app Dynamically generated journal entries using JavaScript This project is gradually transforming into a genuine operating system rather than just a simple webpage. This separation made the code cleaner and easier to navigate. Making the Welcome Window Draggable Next, I implemented drag functionality for the welcome window. Using JavaScript, I tracked the mouse position to update the window’s location as users drag it across the screen. I added a header area that serves as a handle, allowing the window to be moved only when dragging from the top section. Adding a Close Button I also introduced a close button in the top-right corner of the window. When clicked, this button hides the window by altering its display property. To reopen the window, I used the OS name in the top bar as a toggle. Clicking it makes the window visible again. Live Clock Integration Continuing from the previous project, I kept the live clock, which updates every second using JavaScript and remains visible in the top bar. Reusable CSS Classes To facilitate future expansions, I created reusable CSS classes for windows, headers, and buttons. This approach enables me to add more windows later without having to rewrite styles. Key Learnings Through this project, I gained insights into: Separating HTML, CSS, and JavaScript into distinct files Organizing elements using IDs and classes Implementing draggable HTML elements Creating reusable CSS classes Utilizing functions in JavaScript Adding click event listeners Dynamically opening and closing windows Positioning elements within a window header My favorite aspect was enabling the draggable functionality, which made the interface resemble a real desktop environment. I also resized my image and rounded its corners using the border-radius property. One challenge I encountered was making the image look the correct size without becoming stretched. In the future, I want to add windows, a desktop background, and interactive features using JavaScript. Devlog 2 – Creating My Desktop and Top Bar Today I expanded my Personal OS by creating a desktop layout and adding a top bar with a live clock. I started by placing all of my welcome screen content inside a div , which acts as a window. I added a border, rounded corners, padding, and a background color so the window stood out from the desktop background. Next, I added a desktop wallpaper by setting a background image on the body of the page. I used background-size: cover so the image would fill the screen properly. After creating the desktop, I built a top bar. I used a flexbox layout to place the OS name on one side and the time on the other. I also added a semi-transparent background to give it a more modern operating system appearance. Finally, I learned some basic JavaScript. I created a function that gets the current date and time using new Date().toLocaleString() . Under that time I have set up the game with a stable backbone that I borrowed from learnopengl, I have also started on the actual game aspect of the game with adding the ball, gravity for the ball, obstacles and the player canon. I still have a lot more to do and in the next devlog I will hopefully have made great progress with the game. This project does not use any AI because I actually want to learn new things. Fuzz-Wall(more commonly fuzz-wall) is a lightweight package for the Fuzzel(more commonly fuzzel) dmenu. It utilizes the different wallpaper daemons(e.g. hyprpaper, awww/swww, swaypaper). It makes changing wallpapers way easier! What Changed? Added functions for mpvpaper and awww alongside their individual commands to get the desired outcome. Checking for Waypaper before launching the functions to see if it can be used instead. It does not fire functions if Waypaper is present. Now marked swww as retired due to the project being moved to awww. However, it is not removed for anyone that prefers the older package. just a quick one, made it so that the matrix transform also applies to the coordinate grid by making the line coordinates be based off of the transformed world coordinates
added animation to the vector transformations so now I just need to improve the ui and then the MVP will be complete, also added an FPS counter to see how it performs when I change the size of the grid.
finished the ui so it doesn’t suck

I have completed the project and now I will just narrate my entire journey in a very long single devlog. Basically this project helps me bypass the 5-hour Plot session limit. The way it works is that I have multiple accounts (more than 3) and all of them are on the free tier. Many times it’s urgent and I am using Plot but then the session has run out. The best thing I can literally do is switch the account but I’ll have to manually copy page-relevant information and then go to the next account, paste it, and make sure that the new Plot is caught up with everything I’m discussing. I thought about what if I could make a Chrome extension that basically tracks my users and shows me right there what is my users’ percentage so I’ll know when to stop the conversation and if I want to have a long conversation. There’s just a migrate account button where I can just click it. It’s automatically going to stop. It will switch accounts for me and it is going to use Haiku to take all the message contexts, summarize it, and inject it into Plot’s context so I can just resume literally resume with it. I basically decided to make this extension so: I simply added a user tracker which tells me users for my account. I added a switch user option where I could add multiple accounts and it just natively adds a switch account button in the settings so I can switch between all my accounts. There is an export and import option where I just get a full transcript of the entire chat, all the turns between me and Plot, and a markdown file. Lastly the most important thing is the migrate button which basically takes the current chat, exports it, and then imports it into the new account, summarizes everything so Plot can fit that context in its context window and just resume like nothing happened. It works exceptionally well. I can switch between accounts for hours and literally just have to wait for 30 seconds for it to switch every single time. I’m really proud of this project. This project has been uploaded to the Chrome web store, which means that literally anybody can go download it right now and it’s available for free for everybody. It does not send any data; it’s 100% local. The entire source code is on GitHub so you can go, take inspiration, and you can change it however you want. I hope you like my project. https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/claude-session-migrator-a/alpcgnokbgenkmcahimcojhgabcldfko"}]...

Made it beginner-friendly Setup screen now shows just the 4 controls that matter; the other 14 physics params are tucked into a collapsible Advanced section. Added one-click “recommended settings” (auto-applied per level), an onboarding banner, a “How to play” panel, a Simple/Detailed toggle on the play screen, and a coaching tip on the results screen. Made the simulation more physical Upgraded the controller from P to full PID (added Damping/Kd and Integral/Ki). Switched to analog reflectance sensors (smooth weighted line position instead of on/off). Mass now affects acceleration, and cornering too fast causes a real outward skid. Added fun/juice Sound effects + mute toggle, a 3-2-1 countdown, win confetti, a reactive robot face, slip sparks, milestone toasts, and a glowing trail. Repo Added a full README, .gitignore, and pushed everything to GitHub (kept the existing MIT license and history).

I also found a tileset i really like, but it doesn’t have corners that look great when connecting hallways so idk if i will use it :[[[[. its tile size also means that godots autotile doesn’t work, so i spent a solid half an hour just making it snap to the grid properly. Because the wall push moves you towards your mouse, but the gun recoil pushes you away from it, i decided to add a little arrow that shows you your next movement. Suprisingly, this was significantly harder than making the wall jump/push itself as the godot forums really didn’t want to tell me how to flip an angle. I still don’t know how, i’m just recreating the players velocity calculations except i don’t invert it so shows the actual right direction. as with everything, it’ll eventually look good, but two godot icons will have to do for now. Here’s me testing a room with the new tileset and arrow :]. next up, im gonna add a background and then… well whatever i say im gonna do im just gonna get sidetracked and do something else."}, {"post_id": 4774, "ts": "2026-06-08T08:20:06Z", "hours": 0.5197, "text": "Didn’t do much today but wanted to get some time logged. also want to use this devlog and devlogs beyond it as a place to write ideas. I made a bunch more areas, and made the map feel much more connected overall. Because of the whole rooms exploding thing, i want most rooms to have at least 2 connections, so that exploding one room doesn’t lock you out of progressing unless you explode a few more. this map isn’t done, I want it to be at least twice this size, but this is good enough for now. An issue I’m definitely going to run into is trying to the get rooms to have different purposes once i get to making more rooms. The bottom section of the map is a living area where i can put a buncha bedrooms, but i have no clue what rooms are in a spaceship. Ive got a laboratory, an engine room, living space, bedrooms, galley, armory, wing, workshop, and i’m running out of ideas. I also think i would be fun for the final room to be the cockpit, so that’s taken. As for next steps, the map is feels sprawling and connected but it’s also very same-y. I wanna add some stuff into the rooms, a system that lets the player mark where they’ve been, and hollow knight style shortcuts to reward exploration. I also have this idea in my head that i have no clue if i can be bothered implement, where instead of bouncing on walls you stick to them and can push off them without using up any shots. It makes the tight hallways actually playable, but i have fun ideas about story and giving the main character dialogue when it enters certain rooms as little story hints that I wanna do first. I’m not super happy with the size compared to the player, but that’s an easy fix. Here’s the new layout after the great version purge."}, {"post_id": 3927, "ts": "2026-06-07T01:30:07Z", "hours": 0.7825, "text": "Very proud to say im back where i was like an hour ago. mostly. I spent ages making UI and tilemaps, exit godot to add a devlog, popups come up saying that the files have been edited externally, i press idnore, it just keeps popping up, i press load file from disk, it turns the nodes into copies of the player for some reason. I didn’t touch my files, it just did that. Started making the first level and got the movement working. Also added lighting for fun. Next steps are to add an actual objective (Enemies or sections designed to be tough with the movement)
tried to get the collision on the level working so that it actually does something if you shoot too many times. Couldn’t get it to work today, but i think i know how to fix it next time.
Got it to count down the number of hits needed for individual rooms. still doesn’t do anything, but i have all the code to detect it.
I was working on the tilemap and UI and both decided to just, like, die. I spent ages making UI and tilemaps, exit godot to add a devlog, popups come up saying that the files have been edited externally, i press idnore, it just keeps popping up, i press load file from disk, it turns the nodes into copies of the player for some reason. I didn’t touch my files, it just did that. Its not like ive made no progress anywhere, i made much better room detection system and all the scripts were unaffected, buts its super frustrating to spend 30 minutes drawing out tiles to have all of them deleted. I’ve tried reverting files, but nothing working. Long story short, 1 step forward 2 steps backwards.
Very proud to say im back where i was like an hour ago. mostly. I stil lost all those levels i made, the levels look a lil wrong and they have no tiles or anything, and the lighting is gone, but other than that the rest has been restored. Having learnt the hard way, ive made a github repository.
Didn’t do much today but wanted to get some time logged. also want to use this devlog and devlogs beyond it as a place to write ideas. Here’s the new layout after the great version purge.
So apparently i lied about not being bothered to add in the wall-push, because i did that today. Here’s me testing a room with the new tileset and arrow :]. next up, im gonna add a background and then… well whatever i say im gonna do im just gonna get sidetracked and do something else.
I made a dialogue system! It’s a mess of Booleans i definitely need to clean up, and only works with one person, and needs some aesthetic work (everything does, its fine i have time) but it works! Broke quite a few times in testing (managed to break the players movement at one point, that was a doozy) but now the player can talk to themselves when they enter certain rooms for the first time. I also added a new font from itch.io because the base godot one’s suck....

Devlogs:
Early renders
Added infinite automatic config finder with judging mechanism, to brute-force try configurations and categorise them into interesting (e.g. butterly, figure-8), uninteresting (straying off into infinity), or unsure (complex patterns for human review)
Infinite TUI mode! Implemented a continuous, live simulation, not unlike a terminal-based screensaver. (Forgot to update devlogs; this took much longer than 36 minutes)
Updated visuals, and optimised variuos aspects (e.g. trail logic, anti-singularity, etc.) while adding more cli flags for customisation (e.g. trail length). Experimented and found a few presets for cool behaviour (more intertwined path, not instantly ejecting out into infinity). Planning to add a systematic –preset flag soon!
Added artificial damping (unrealistic but more pretty for live rendering) for TUI live mode, along with other QoL improvements and optimisations
Added colour averaging (direct average without squares or roots; seems to look more convincing!), presets (figure 8 and ephemeral twirls for now), along with other minor changes. Screenshot shows colour averaging; green and blue overlap become a more greyish colour.
Camera optimisations (more advanced smoothing and stricter body-within-frame regulation), plus more presets :D
Uploaded to Pypi! You can now use with pip install trisolaris.

The github website page function I used for the website formatted it fine for different screens. I fixed the issue with the dragging on touchscreen. I also made the 2048 game work on touchscreen. Also, I updated the algorithm for the 2048 game. I have written code for it before in Java just for practice and I wanted to take advantage of the fact that I already had an algorithm that works and I understand, so that’s what I decided to do. Now I can understand the 2048 code a little better (I wrote it before understanding JavaScript as well as I do now and most of it is from bits and pieces I found while researching). I also wanted to add some pictures of projects I’ve done. So far, I really only have one but I do have some currently on their way to me in the mail so I’ll add those later. Another think I feel like it’s important for me to note, I know that my README looks like it was written by AI with all the emojis but I actually wrote them all in there myself, I feel like they add a lot to the aesthetic instead of just being plain text. Problem is, I already have my socials linked. I want a way for people to reach me directly though. My first thought was to make a new Gmail account (I don’t want spamming on my main account) but then I was doing some research and I realized I can make a discord webhook. After a TON of trial and error, I figured out how it works and every message through that app goes straight into a private discord server. I committed all my changes and I was pretty happy with my code. But then I get an email from GitGaurdian… It said that my url was exposed. I had put the url in the frontend. After some panicking, I find out what cloudlfare workers are. I put my webhook in cloudflare and everything is okay!! Now you can send me a message! :) I also wanted to make a little magic 8-ball game just for fun. It’s a hamster that tells you your fortune!! Building my personal website as a little web operating system for Stardance, following the Hack Club webOS jam. It’s plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with a lavender “Tokyo Night” desktop-rice look crossed with a Y2K Windows scrapbook vibe, and the graph-paper wallpaper is pure CSS. So far I’ve got a welcome screen that boots into a desktop with a live clock, clickable desktop icons, and draggable windows you can move around, bring to the front, and close. The trickiest bug was my enter button “not working,” which turned out to be my code editor’s preview, not my code, fixing itself the moment I opened it in a real browser. It’s live and public at https://hamstersarus.github.io/Hamstersarus_Website/ and next up is building my first real app plus a bonus feature the guide doesn’t cover.
Since my last update I finished the rest of the webOS jam. I built my first real app, an About Me window with a little bio and my likes and dislikes, and then two “advanced” apps: a music player that actually plays real lofi tracks with play, pause, and skip (the disc even spins while it’s playing), and a fully playable purple version of 2048 that you control with the arrow keys or WASD. The 2048 game is my bonus feature that the guide didn’t ask for. The trickiest part was a layout bug where the 2048 board kept spilling out of its window and making everything look like it was shifting around while I played, which turned out to be a CSS grid quirk where the columns refused to shrink to fit, fixed by switching them to minmax(0, 1fr). I also added a README so anyone visiting my repo knows what the project is and how to run it. Everything is live and public at https://hamstersarus.github.io/Hamstersarus_Website/ and all five parts of the jam are now done.
Since my last update I turned my webOS into a proper portfolio. First I gave the music player a real upgrade so a lofi track starts playing the moment you enter the desktop, with a little “now playing” notification, and it keeps playing even if you close the music window instead of stacking a second song on top like it used to. Then I added four new apps to show off my work: a Projects window with cards for HamstersarusOS, my SENTINEL surveillance game, my Fight game, and my 2048 game, each linked to its GitHub repo; a Skills window with little proficiency bars; a Resume window with my education, internship, and awards; and a Contact window with my GitHub, LinkedIn, and email. I also filled in the About Me app with my real name and bio. One thing I was careful about was privacy, since the site is fully public with no password I deliberately left my home address and phone number off it and only put the professional stuff online. It’s all live at https://hamstersarus.github.io/Hamstersarus_Website/ and it actually feels like a portfolio now instead of just a demo.
This update was mostly polish and housekeeping. I renamed my repository to HamstersarusOS, which gave my portfolio a cleaner link to share around, it now lives at https://hamstersarus.github.io/HamstersarusOS/ . After renaming I went through and updated all the internal links so the project cards and README point to the new address instead of the old broken one. I also cleaned up my portfolio a bit: I tweaked the likes in my About Me section and removed a leftover note in the Skills app that was only meant for me but was accidentally showing to visitors. Nothing flashy this time, just tightening things up and making the site easier to send to people.
So a lot of changes… I was brainstorming what I should add and I had the bright and original idea to add a contact me app! How fun is that?
I wanted to show off my website but I was on my phone and thats when I realized it doesn’t really work on the phone… The only problem was that the windows wouldn’t drag. I source all my emojis from: https://emojicopy.com/
Ships:
I created a website to serve as my portfolio. It is a tiny web operating system. Instead of making just a regular about me page, I made a “desktop” that people can use to get to know me. I included by resume, skills, prior projects, and contact information....

I was able to create a stub of windows.kinect so that we could have kinect support and redirect it to Microsoft.Kinect. So far its been working well, but the point of this was to get mc 1.61 to not freeze when playing. It was a lot of repetitive work to get the idl and cpp stubs. The other issue is that mc seems to be giving me the trial version which I need to try and fix. Sonic Mania is completely playable as well which is good.
So I was able to get terraria working which was pretty easy since I just had to implement some DX11 stuff. I implemented config support so that you can change your gamertag and gamerscore as well as your controller binds and your keyboard binds via a json file.
We finally migrated to github, and I was able to get Github Actions to work. It also caches the cmake dir so that its faster for newer builds. To get Github Actions to build, I had to install windows sdk 28000 and remove the hardcoded dirs in all the CMakeLists as well as properly migrate to vcpkg.
After a while of debugging Burnout Paradise I was finally able to realise that it was looking for D3D12Device. For some reason it was looking for d3d12 device in a d3d11 dll, so I was considering redirecting it to d3d12. But after a while I just gave up.
I noticed that the Windows.Xbox.Speech.Recognition idl looked a bit odd and it used stuff from midl2 so I removed the idl and cpp files and pretty much started from scratch. It took me a while to create the idl and get guid and stuff, but setting up the cpp files and tidying it up into 5 files from 30 small file took a lot longer since I had to manually tidy the funcs and add a debugging line to each of them.
I didn’t have much to do in WD currently, so I decided to create the watchdog process for WD, since it would be needed for the new WD Launcher to pass back errors to the user. Its a pretty simple debugger type of thing for now, but Im going to try and make it a bit better and more readable.

im… sorta getting into the groove of c++! i’ve added a new class to handle a config file, which: creates config file in whatever directory it should go in (i think it’s kinda hardcoded to only function properly on linux right now… once i have things more finished i’ll definitely get windows support and maaaybe macos support!) serializes and deserializes the config file via the nlohmann json library, converting it into a struct so it can be easily read from other parts of the code next i’ll make it so downloads are fetched from the playlists in the config with the yt-dlp flags in the config!!
