My main idea since the start has been to make an app like it but that also shows the “process history” since boot. Why? The point of the project is to allow the user more insight into what’s happening on their device, whether it’s to detect malware that sort of runs for a little while and then turns off, to see what unnecessary programs launch upon startup or just to get a better hint of what’s going on in the device. How? Figuring this out was what the first part of my project was about and I came to a surprisingly clean conclusion. ETW (Event Tracing for Windows) is an event-tracing framework built into windows whose entire role consists of tracing events (yup) I’m not too familiar with it yet but I know that it works like this in a nutshell: You start an ETW session by passing a struct which basically contains the settings for the session into a function called StartTraceW() . You enable what providers you want the session to listen to with EnableTraceEx2() , where the “providers” respectively emit notifications for different events. To receive the notifications, you use function OpenTraceW() which you also pass a struct which contains information mostly about the session you’re connecting to but also a pointer to one of your own functions (which needs a specific parameter). So basically: *my_function(trace_data) + other session info -> session_info_for_OpenTraceW -> OpenTraceW(session_info_for_OpenTraceW) And the reason you pass one of your own functions is so that ETW can call it to give you said trace data. The final stage is deciphering the above-mentioned trace_data argument that your registered function receives in order to perchance turn it into UI. And all of these functions exist inside of windows so you need a Linker so that your code can “link against” them aka. you write the definitions of the code you want to access in your code and the linker will make it so that calling your code accesses the real logic. And because there was a lot of code that I’d have to declare I used a Crate , which is basically like a built-in mechanic for code-dependencies in Rust and they work pretty much like header files in C/C++, except that they are managed through another file which is called Cargo.toml which installs the crates specified from the web where they are managed and upkept. And I haven’t mentioned that all of the windows logic including ETW is written primarily in C which might make it seem impossible for my code that interacts with it to be written in Rust but there’s something called FFI (Foreign Function Interface) which covers this completely. Where am I right now? Although my coding time has consisted of mostly logging thus far as I am learning both a new programming language and how to use ETW, at the moment I’ve made four scripts which are main.rs , ffi0.rs , ffi1.rs , misc.rs which basically covers stage 1 and 3 of the ETW explanation that I gave above. What’s next? The immediate next step is probably going to be to make my code do what it’s supposed to and start a session, after that it’s stage 2 and then a little into stage 4. That’s a few things necessary before configuring the UI and such. Something else I want to manage before that is schedule an ETW session for next boot that writes its’ data into a file which my program will then read."}]...

Devlogs:
I started working on 0x6502, a retro computer lab where you can emulate 6502 based retro computers, like the Apple II or C64 directly in terminal, while being able to live view the stack, memory and registers, all in a tui built woth ratatui. For now I have just worked on the 6502 cpu logic and blocked out the main UI, I have done Instruction and addressing handling, next its operations.
Added helper functions for flag handling. Setting and reading the status register flags.
Started working on the first cpu operations, also added cycle emulation. Some operations where a struggle, It took a while till I got BCD operations, also the break flag is special in it of itself, but good progress. Next up, more operations
Added a bunch more operations, had to learn a bit of low level byte and bit operations. Also started working on operations that work with the stack which is always fun
Finally finished all instructions. Now I will move to making the first machine (maybe apple I or II) and connecting all cpu mechanics and get the emu working.
Started working on the Apple I implementation. Setting memory ranges and more. Also added a console write and read to the bus so machines can display what the want, since each machine does whatever this is a way to normalize it
I worked on adding all the Apple I roms to the program, loading them at each required memory location and started working on some more of the UI
Made some more progress on Implementing the Apple I machine and some TUI handling code + misc fixes
Ok so I’m back Sorta refactoring the code base to be a cycle accurate state machine to make the emulation as truthful as I can, this involves coding each cycle independently (sorta) to maintain accuracy, I have started this refactoring with a lot to go, but at the end it will be much better than before see the code here as an example
Finished refactoring all the addressing code for it to be cycle accurate. Next I’ll check and fix operations and then the TUI situation and try to get the Apple I running, good progress
So I had to tackle some special cases to adapt everything to the new cycle accurate architecture These are mainly the operations that work with the stack In my architecture addressing handles fetching, while the run_operation() just does the math (and final data write if needed), so it only consumes one cycle, these special cases handles various cycles in their operation (independently of addressing mode) so I had to add that, and some other minor fixes to branch operations and other stuff
Big progress. GOT THE APPLE I RUNNING Hooray wozmon is up and running, marking the most successful milestone yet, a running system, i had to fix some opcode behaviors but it runs great!! Still very early, 1st, not all input keys are mapped, cycle stepping, the ui etc etc, but for now its progress....

I had to use global in this function, though that is not the best way to write code. I also added --reset and --init options to the config command. If you specify either of those options, you can reset or init/re-init the config file. If none are specified, the command works normally and outputs the config file. I had fun writing these because I got to reduce an initial mess of if statements to one clean one that’s also readable. I then wrote the --get-path option to the config command. I improved my error message for when the user passes too many options to the config command, inspired by some that git returns. I also removed a now unneeded CONFIG_PATH print when the config command is run without any options."}, {"post_id": 74833, "ts": "2026-09-28T12:15:38Z", "hours": 2.705, "text": "I renamed a variable in a helper function named configfile to config_file , and I have no idea how that missing underscore made its way into a previous commit. I usually use basedpyright as my linter so I added that as a dev dependency and started adding missing type hints to functions and their tests. The list_projects function I had written previously returned project names with a “project.” prefix because that is ho w projects are stored in the config.ini file. Also, the function did not update the config object from the CONFIG_PATH. I fixed both these problems. I wrote another function to get a project’s path given its name. I wrote tests for both list_projects and get_project_path . I started using rich.print and rich.Console.print to make my terminal outputs better. While doing this I realised that rich.print-ing text in square brackets is not printed directly and is interpreted differently. In doing all this, the project flow became kinda complicated so I refactored it into a bunch of smaller functions and now the main project command function looks cleaner and you can look at and understand what it’s doing, which, of course, all good code should do. I believe this is a good point for an initial release."}, {"post_id": 73574, "ts": "2026-09-25T12:42:48Z", "hours": 2.0828, "text": "Hardware projects require you to journal your progress. I prefer storing my journals with me in a JOURNAL.md file in my project repo. I saw that fallout and forge had different but compatible journaling formats. In general, I dislike having to add the boilerplate before I journal, even though it isn’t as big of a deal. The goal of this project is to write a CLI program that makes it easy for me to journal for my hardware projects in a JOURNAL.md file without having to deal with boilerplate. Up until now, I’ve written a typer app that taken in a project name, path, and journaling content and writes it to a JOURNAL.md file located at said path. This is an extremely simple implementation. I’m choosing to build on this slowly since the last time I tried to code this, things got out of hand pretty fast, and I couldn’t refactor or organize the codebase (if you can call it a codebase, that is). In my previous python projects this year, I’ve been writing my own implementation of config handling, adding features every project. I had planned to branch that off into its own project in the winter, before I realised the configparser package already does that work for you, which is why this project has a config.py file that uses configparser, significantly reducing my workload. I might return to rewriting configparser (or a simpler version of it) some other day. This config file is of type .ini and stores projects in the format f”[projects.{proj_name}]”. As of this devlog, config.py isn’t used in the main CLI. I’m writing tests for my code with pytest. I learnt about fixtures and how I could affect the state of a variable at runtime using monkeypatch (for testing only). Another thing I had to look up was the pathlib.Path.expanduser() function. That came in handy, because I’ll be using paths like ~/macropad and they need to be resolved appropriately."}]...

Devlogs:
Hardware projects require you to journal your progress. That came in handy, because I’ll be using paths like ~/macropad and they need to be resolved appropriately.
I renamed a variable in a helper function named configfile to config_file , and I have no idea how that missing underscore made its way into a previous commit. I believe this is a good point for an initial release.
I wrote an init_config function to initialize the config file to an empty one. I also removed a now unneeded CONFIG_PATH print when the config command is run without any options....

MK1 the first test design for the top panel of my cyber deck very early design and will be subject to change. one problem I’m facing is the 3d printer that is available to me (its not mine its kinda like a rental) is to small to fit the whole panel so I will have to print it in separate parts and figure out a way to connect them.
Cut the panel in half, added dowels to connect them. next I plan on printing it and seeing what i can do to improve it
2 updates to the project, I 3d printed the MK1 top piece with varying success and modelled the MK1 base panel. after ages of waiting for the 3d printer I rent to be free I printed it, it fits the case and the components well (although the screen hole was a lot bigger than it needed to be) however I encountered 2 major errors 1. the dowels I used to connect the two half’s were to big and made gaps in the model, and 2. Fixing old keyboard. the wires were broken near the connection points I performed a temporary twist and splice on the exposed wired I plan to solder a new cable later but for now it works!
MK2 Cyberdeck panel. I re-model MK1 to have a better fit for all of the components and rearranged them a bit however the Cyberdeck is looking empty and boring I am thinking of adding switches or possibly another screen but can think of what they will do, my plan is by the next model to decide what the theme should be by making some kind of mood board and then add things accordingly if you have any ideas please let me know in the comments.

So yeah, I am researching on that and see what I can do. Devlog 1 ###For the new page tab here are my ideas i want to improve me Competitive Programing skill so my new tab page will revolve around that theme i will create some web shortcuts and a reading list thing theme customization is there, but i dont know i will try to provide as much as customizability i can Current Status have created a simple search bar the search bar can be focused by pressing “/” it also has options for three different search engines
Devlog 2 so i started with goal to display info cards of my coding profiles from different platform, but turns out that i cant codechef has deprecated their public api, leetcode graphql api can only be accesed from server, so was only able to display my codeforces and github stats after this i added a toto list card, initially it was a card but later i made it like aa sidebar app insted for better UX i also worked on settings to customize the design , some thing i have completed like selecting which cards to display, theme, and bg, but there is still imporvement like more option for images, gradient and colour also more then just dark and light theme, maybe a comic theme and termical theme created a component for displaying time, date and weather, weather thing is yer to be completed
Devlog 3 this time i fixed the weather card, now it shows the correct weather based on your location, and also shows the correct time and date. i also made UI improvements and now the todo list is on the left side of the screen, almost 100% long added text shadow to text, so that its visible on any image as a background
Devlog 4 wrote some of css again, removed the AI snippets that I had used fixed some bugs like, error on refetching data when handle is chagned showed more info in cards thorugh codeforces and github apis (commits and next rank requirement in codeforces) the image in the bg was not loading on the first opening of the website, fixed that too
Devlog Last time reject due to my project being ai heavy, idk, the ui was generated with google stitch and then i coded it out, i just removed the css and redesign the website completely i took the inspiraation my from my old project, idk i made it like 3-4 years ago, link below https://ashish757.github.io/some-frontend-stuff/guess-the-number/index.html

Overview Although I have been a front-end web developer for long, but this concept of creating your own new tab page was completely new for me I have never even thought or heard of it it felt nice creating something which I will be using on a daily basis Version One have made this new tab page according to my own needs, very minimal, and only showing the things which I need to see Obviously there are a lot of things to add but right now this is something I can call version 1 I think I will first try the present and see if it requires some more features and require some changes instead of bloating it with abundance of features which i dont actually require day to day Challenges About the challenge part, I would say I’m reading about how can I actually replace my new tab page instead of just this website, and I found out that I can do that by writing a manifest file. So yeah, I am researching on that and see what I can do. I think challenge here mostly is something that is going to come next about researching out that manifest file about how to make it actually a new tab page. Future Scope (Version Two) How do I get that native right clicks on my page? And how do i track the times that other websites are using? Maybe make an extension to track the user behavior when he’s not on the page and display that on this page, on this landing page sp a lot of scope is there. lets see what’s come up in version two but for version now i think this is enough...

The fix was sharing my laptop’s connection over a LAN cable (Windows ICS), ping-sweeping 192.168.137.x until something answered, then SSH-ing in. It now runs 4 services in Docker: a Homepage dashboard, Gitea (mirroring my GitHub repos), FileBrowser Quantum, and Uptime Kuma. The interesting part was everything that went wrong: The box was pulling packages from Armbian’s nightly repo, and upgrades rewrite /boot. No HDMI means a bad boot = full reflash, so I froze the kernel, bootloader and initramfs, and checksum /boot before and after every upgrade. The SD slot kept failing flush commands. I spent ~3 hours testing the card with H2testw: the card was perfect, the slot wasn’t. The card now lives in a USB reader. Docker 29 stores images in containerd, not data-root. “Moving Docker to the SD card” would have silently filled the eMMC anyway. Some of the features I’ve worked on recently include: polishing the chat making the AI’s voice more natural adding and tweaking memory features working on the library/file features tweaking the sidebar and settings fixing navigation problems making the UI feel more natural for both gesture and button-based navigation fixing scrolling and spacing issues adding animations/haptic feedback dark mode/AMOLED tweaks fixing/minor tweaks to various parts of the app Something I learned during this development process was that small touches go a long way. I also spent time debugging issues with the code and improving how the different parts of the application communicate with each other.I used AI as a development assistant during this process, mainly for debugging, understanding errors, exploring implementation ideas, and improving parts of the code. One of the things I had to work through was making sure the application could continue accepting new questions after a response was received. I also spent time debugging issues with the code and improving how the different parts of the application communicate with each other.I used AI as a development assistant during this process, mainly for debugging, understanding errors, exploring implementation ideas, and improving parts of the code. I still made the main decisions about how I wanted Surge AI to work and tested the changes myself. Next, I want to continue improving the interface, make the response handling more reliable, and add more features to make Surge AI feel like a complete application rather than just a basic AI chat interface.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been working on my own AI app, Surge AI. I initially started working on Surge a few weeks ago, however, as I worked on the app more, I found myself making various tweaks and changes to the app’s overall design. As such, most of my recent activity for Surge has revolved around tweaking and perfecting various parts of the app as opposed to simply adding new features. While seemingly minor, little additions and tweaks to an application can make a massive difference when it comes to the overall feel of the application. I’m sure I’ll continue to work on Surge AI, adding features and tweaking the app’s feel for the future.
Been working on Surge again! This update has mostly been about voice, UI improvements, and the new accounts system.Testing different voice models to make responses sound more natural.Cleaning up the UI — fixing spacing, scrolling, animations and a bunch of small things. And finally, I’ve started working on accounts + cloud sync, so users can optionally back up and sync their Surge data across devices. Still a lot to test and fix, but it’s coming together.
Surge AI - Voice Model Devlog Most of my time lately has been spent on developing the voice feature in Surge AI.The previous implementation of voice in the app was rather slow and quite unnatural-sounding at times, so I’ve been experimenting with other models and trying to improve the experience as a whole rather than merely swapping the voice. There’s still some tuning required, but I can already tell that the answers sound a lot better now. It’s this kind of feature that seems like a straightforward thing to implement until you actually try doing that.
Surge AI — UI DevlogI’ve been spending some time fine-tuning the overall UI of Surge AI.Nothing major was redesigned this time. Most of the work was on the small things — spacing, animations, scrolling, button placement, navigation and making different screens feel more consistent.I’ve also been cleaning up a few things that looked fine while developing but felt slightly off when actually using the app. It’s mostly small changes, but together they make Surge feel a lot more polished.Still fine-tuning and testing before moving on to the next update....

Today i designed the CAD file for the robot. I tried freecad first but it was too hard to use so i did the whole design on tinkercad and now i will try to turn the file into a .step file for posting
i did the 3d modeling of the impeller and the impeller bracket for a 720 type coreless motor
edited the BOM files, reuploaded, got the total amount and tried some 3d design AGAİN (FAİLED)
I FINALLY DESIGNED THE BODY The body of the Micromouse is FINALLY done. i cant wait to get my hands on the parts to make my custom design sensor and the robot itself!!!!
Designed Half of the Custom IR sensor board today-it was hard since theres so many components and less space, but i think i will complete it in 3 days! ( it uses a stm32 blackpill board and some op-amps for strenghtening the signal)
I finally completed the kicad design of the custom IR sensor today- after learning so many things such as pcb designing, 3d cad designing and using github for this project, i finally completed the kicad design of the sensor board- ITS FINALLY DONE
Devlog #8- Schematics Design For the Custom IR Sensor- Today i tried kicad schematics for the first time- it was actually a basic and an easy to use software. i drew the schematic of 1 channel of the sensor board(and theres 6 of those, so 3 op-amps, 6 IR leds, 6 Photodiodes, 12 resistors(i think) 6 potentiometers, 6 mosfets and some power source boards such as a mini 360 and stm32. it uses 40khz signals to eliminate room light. thanks for reading!)
Today I polished the pcb design a little Bit- Devlog #9 this time i polished it a bit(i know theres still some mistakes, im a newbie on the pcb world) tomorrow i will upload the better polished version on the github and try to make this a little bit smaller maybe? we will see tomorrow
Today I Designed the circuit from scratch and made A V2- Devlog #10- The Custom Sensor Board the second picture shows the better and smaller version. i will later add some connection ports for I2C , encoders, pwm and other things. theres still some time, so i will update the BOM file again and use this pcb but also code some to show how it will work so it will get accepted once i ship it again. 26.09.2026-01:50

Oceantype, A website where you can leave a message into the ocean where anyone can read it. Old messages are recycled when no one is typing anything. This is a project I made to learn more about web dev, before I discovered the stardance challenge. I have now added text moderation (before this it wasn’t), by using the package obscenity found on npm. Before this, I tried using openai’s moderation which they said was free, but it didn’t work for me. (Error, too many requests when i only sent one message) Now if the message contains any profanities it will be filtered out! Also this is a project I have started before stardance challenge. What I used to make this website: nextjs supabase tailwind css
New features and fixes: I have added transitions between the main page and the info page, which is needed because it was very awkward without it I also fixed the scrollbar in the text area so that it has no background when hovered. Here is a demonstration video where I test out the websites (message filtering, rate limiting) The messages here are left by real people who I have shared the website with! But, there still is a problem with the counter, as it has stale data that is not hydrated from the database. Thus next devlog I will be fixing that. If you want to drop by and say something: https://oceantype.vercel.app/
Bugs fixed I have fixed the counter bar. Previously, It would just accept a initial message count from the server and increment every new message. This is prone is some issues and does not hydrate properly I have now fixed this by just listening to postgresql changes and applying state immediantly on client. Features added Mobile is now more optimized, as it changed the interval to “roll” for recycled messages from 250ms to 1000ms on mobile. Same with the message spawning height, on mobile it would spawn on the visible page which is not very convincing as a effect. I used a new package: react-device-detect to check for mobile. Below is the code for counter, I fetch the initial counter in a promise, and apply. Then we also listen for changes and apply
Ships:
I made a website where anyone can express any thoughts and leave it in the ocean for anyone to see. Messages are circulated (when no new messages are sent) frequently just like objects floating around in the ocean current. The challenge of this is to learn supabase and nextjs. I already have experience with react, so just some guidance from ai taught me how it works. For example ‘use client’ on files to mark a clientsided component. It taught me how to communicate from server to public I am proud as alot of messages have been left already, and the fact that a real website I made is actually running and working properly. You can go to https://oceantype.vercel.app for testing. Mobile is supported too...

Finally on the 3d designing for the macropad, first time to use fusion
I’ve almost finished the 3d part (I have to colour it and add the usbc port slot). After this I’ll have to write the firmware
I’ve continued the 3d part, now I have to figure out how to edit the pcb for the LEDs and to understand how much larger than the usbc port the port on the case is going to be.
Still on 3d part, but MAYBE now I can start to think how to connect the LEDs to the pcb
Finally I can say that I ve finished the 3d part, the pcb is okay (I’ve added the ReverseMount LEDs and wired them up). I ve decided that I’ll solder the case’s LED directly on the XIAO board so now I just have to do te firmware....

Devlogs:
I created the PCB for my HackPad. It was my first time using KiCAD so I tried my best and here is what I came up with.
Initial progress of creating my pcb a case. I started off by importing all the 3d files of components which were lacking them in KiCAD and creating a basic plate.
Created a basic design for my hackpad after importing the components and pcb into shapr3d to create a basic visualisation. Now I can go on to refine the look and create a better looking case better suited to my vision with functionality.
Just finished iterating what is hopefully the final version of my hack pad design in shapr3d!!
My older case design and pcb did not fit the design specifications therefore i had to alter my design. I could have simply adjusted the older case to fit the required dimensions but after attempting to do so i found quite a few issues such as hangovers with the 3d model which would make it harder to 3d print. So instead i designed a more minimalistic model which incorporates a vornoi style on the front and sides. To make it easier to print I could split the model into parts in Bambu studio when i eventually print the model myself.
Organised all my saved files in my GitHub repo so that the product is ready for submission.
FINALLY! The parts took ages to arrives but anyways I got started on assembling the hack pad immediately and managed to finish it.

Devlogs:
Made the high level design (block diagram) of Nexus 55 which is my version of google or alexa smart home system but local
Setup Home Assistant
Finally got to the home assistant main menu
Made a quick mock up of the circuit in wokwi, dont worry mess will be sorted later
programmed some stuff, didnt do a lot cuz i got a big ahh exam tmrw
SOLDERED SOME STUFF
Made a curtian opener and closer thingy, the big metal thing is a motor ink assembly thingy i pulled from an old hp printer and i used relays instead of a l298n or tbh any motor driver bc … i only have the l298n and it is very inneficeint
coded blynk then decided to not use it bc of its limitations
Soldered on some male headers for the rgb led board
cut and epoxied a peice of wood so i can install a relay for AC connections
installed a relay for ac stuff on another wooden block
today was kinda boring, i just got esp rainmaker working, it took 1 hour because the esp32 storage and cache stuff, i had to create my own partition scheme and stuff to get the code to fit on the esp32
messed around with esp rain maker even more, prob will not use it and just continue with arduino iot cloud or smthgn (image not related and not mine, jst a meme )
tried arduino cloud iot, it sucks, so i will prob just make my own esp32 hosted webpage for the controls
cut some wood and added brackets to mount to the wall
made it workkkk
wired up the signal side of the relay #3
Installed node-red and mqtt broker
heatshrinked some wires, didnt have time for anyhthing else lol
Made an interface, with a lot of help from ai, will rebuild this from scratch tomorrow, just made this using ai as a test, and the ui runs completely on ur pc as an html, it works although it is buggy and the sliders do do their jobs properly that much
heatshrinking !
Replaced the relays for motor control with an L298N and made the entire thing run on 12v instead of 5v, sounds a bit more less feasable but it is actually more feasable because if ur using 5v usb , u need a power brick with good ampere ratings, 12v u just need a normal 12v barrel jack thingy...

soo i am working on a servo tester it is basically a device that can control servo motors and acts as a way to check if a servo motor works or not(as the name suggests) I have only made the raw pcb it still needs work to be done soo i am gonna work on it
Okayyyy soo devlog #2 last time I did a small amount of PCB and I didnt do traces back then atleast not all of it Today when I did that then I realised that Its a bit difficult to connect the SCL and SDA to the analog pins of arduino. So what I did is I added two copper pads or holes whatever it is called and I made it like a bridge When I will solder it I can use a wire to jump the connection. Devlog #3 : I am gonna have a crashout now I finished the PCB and now I need to make the enclosure for the pcb and its killing me. I have never really made an enclosure for anything I used to do the simple cad and now when I did make an enclosure I am just getting overwhelmed…… Well I did figure out something and my PCB is now assembled. Devlog #4 I redid the PCB it was hell The last time I did the PCB it didnt go well when making the case because the potentiometer didnt fit into it. The worst part wwas getting things right in this model each time I cant find a good model I did find a nano model but it was x3d and kicad doesnt support it……. Also i made the PCB purple I really like this colour
Devlog #5 I did the CAD and the potentiometer FINALLY FITS PROPERLY I am kinda proud of how the CAD model turned out and I really like the look however I am not sure if the fitting and everything will work or not cuz its my first time having something 3d printed soo we will see However the model is really bland soo I will add some decorations to this project which means there will be one more devlog for CAD which is not what I was expecting but meh, here goes nothing
Devlog #6 Soooo my dumahh didnt think of the fact that the signal will not move until the ground are common Which is exactly the issue in my previous pcb and i have literally redid my pcb 2 times… well i made it such that u have a different power source for running servo and it is to be connected on top at the bottom right there are 3 pair of 3 pins which are connected to the servo and then it works i hope i dont run into something anymore………
Devlog #7 Since I had to redo the PCB I also had to redo the enclosure At first I tried to make changes to the one I had made this but it didnt go well and I decided to make the top section again.Since the left portion of the lid will be removed completely I think I will add a way to join the bottom and middle section in there since I also had to remove one of the snap fit thingies which could decrease the fit strength. Getting started! This is the base of the WebOS, the 1 hour is probably fake
Spent a bit of time making a little favicon on Figma, sadly my time wasnt logged ;-;
Added a font and turned the page into a little window!
Okay, so I gave it a wallpaper (hey this looks familiar…), and I made the top bar from the tutorial, but in TRANSLUCENT RED!!! I broke my brain trying to get the time to work, and then I found out it was stupidly simple and I plugged in the variables wrong (I thought I was supposed to put another script tag where the time and date is printed 😭)
I followed the tutorial some more to finally get the window to be draggable and closable! (Yes, I seriously spent 2 hours trying to figure it out, because I MISMATCHED NAMES AGAIN!! ) Also I polished up the welcome window so it doesn’t look stupid...

Devlog #1 Hello! This is my first devlog for my newest project: a portfolio website for my science fair team. We need a portfolio website to like cold email people to get advisors and to show them like what projects we’ve made and stuff. This is heavily inspired by shar since I really like the look of her website. I heard that you should use monospaced fonts so I am just going off the wikipedia article about that. I chose a nice blue and dark grey for the header tab thing and the other text. I think it looks decent so far. Next I will probably work on getting little modals to work on the bottom that will display about us pages for each of us.
Devlog #2 WINDOWS COMPLETE! I was able to get the modal to popup, drag and stack it on top of the other modals. I got font-awesome to work as emojis for the clickable buttons. I am waiting on my teammates to send me their about mes to replace the filler lorem ipsum text. I still don’t know why the border around the modal body has a very odd height, I just used a bit of padding to get the border to fit but I probably need to figure it out in order for the website to be able to be used on mobile I added box shadow and got the borders and fonts and headers to be colored and work properly The javascript took the longest because I had to rely on like 4 year old tutorials and a LOT of gemini for debugging I took the modal template from an old youtube tutorial and the rest of the javascript was mainly vibe coded except for a bit of debugging I had to do. Overall it works pretty well and the animations work great I will probably start working on overall design after this because the shadows look kinda odd under the main box and I think I want to look for better like skinnier fonts for aesthetics
Devlog #3 Contacts page complete! This took way too long for what it is lol Reused blucky from one of my previous projects I did for the starbeam hackathon (yes! he makes a reappearance) Added our student emails with a button that automatically sends you to gmail cuz I was too lazy to add three buttons that sent you to each of our emails individually I rescaled everything and so the contacts page is a little longer than the other windows The contacts page and projects page I colored with a different background color to add a little personality to each window, I plan on adding our favorite colors as the background for our about mes Im probably going to work on the projects next and try to figure out how to make it scroll downwards (probably going to use the trick I learnt fro the carousel on my other website) also I updated the javascript so then the window header does not leave the viewable screen
Devlog #4 Profiles all complete! I finished everybody’s about me with their descriptions and accent colors. I changed the highlight color for each one to make it more custom and added more font awesome emojis I added dark mode after watching a tutorial on it and tracked/inverted all my colors. I think darkmode looks pretty good for now (not perfect but highkey im too lazy to change the colors) I added sfx from taking samples from a random website and adding audio tags to my html. I got ai to fix up my javascript for the audio to work for specific buttons (original javascript for the audio feature came from a 1 min long youtube tutorial) I am going to focus on the mobile version after this because I think the website is basically complete. (I also bought a domain lols) Our offical team name is squigs now so thats kinda cool
Devlog #5 (FINAL DEVLOG) I bought my second ever domain :) I connected it to github pages so hopefully the DNS check goes through sometime soon… BUT the rest of the website is pretty much complete. For the mobile version, I was kinda too lazy to switch everything around again so I just added a little notification on the bottom telling the user that the website is made for desktop devices and will be pretty wonky on the mobile version. I switched up some colors around again to just make everything match and flow a little better. I think I really like how this website came out and hopefully it will be fully functioning! p.s: huge thanks to the big AZ for making me the backgrounds lol
Changed the text, added GIFS and resumes

This is a portfolio website for my science research team :) We needed a portfolio website for cold emailing so we could display our skills so I decided to make it. (also be cause it is quite fun) This website was inspired by sharyap.com because I really liked the design and feeling it gave off. The website is best used with a desktop device (mobile doesn’t really work too well) and you can drag, drop, and stack the various windows together. There is a dark to light mode switch in the top left corner that inverts the color palette as well as sound effects that play when you click specific buttons. I hope you enjoy playing around with the website!...
