Wrote the boot sector for beanOS using the os-tutorial repo on GitHub for the instructions. First time writing in x86 assembly.,and I’m starting to understand it.
beanOS has a kernel now. Its moving quickly, and I’m working on video output currently. It can only print characters, but soon it will be printing strings.
beanOS now has VGA graphics output and CPU and keyboard interrupts. Three implicit function declarations and some mis-capitalization later and it seems to be functioning. On to the shell!...

I spent the first couple days of this project working on the software before I do any of the hardware, since it’s a lot easier to design software first and then design the hardware around it. All i’ve gotten done so far is the ui system through pygame (the main menu shown in the picture below), a cool analog clock, and eontimer functionality. The next goals of the project are to implement Entralinked server functionality leveraging python’s subprocess library, implement PKHeX likely using PKHeX core since i have never programmed in C# and I don’t know how to link it to Python, and then creating a SQLite database of Pokemon information ripped off of the PokeAPI and implementing a Bulbapedia-style UI for the dex hopefully. Only after all of that stuff is implemented will I get started on the cool and fun part of the project, which is the hardware, lol Right now, EonTimer functionality is implemented by starting an http server and Chrome in kiosk mode to serve EonTimer, with a custom javascript button to provide the user an easy way to exit from it, while making sure the python program returns to the main menu as well. Custom CSS had to be created in order to ensure the website could fit on an 800x480 screen. I had been trying to design this under the assumption that the user wouldn’t have access to a mouse cursor of any kind, and I already made my python ui index based with no mouse control, but it doesn’t seem feasible and I will most likely have to implement some kind of joystick or trackpad or at least a touch screen for the user to be able to have mouse control. I think the project is coming out fine, although I really need to stop relying on LLM tools for coding assistance, it’s very embarrassing. Anyway, thanks for reading my first devlog."}]...

Just started coding, doesnt look too pretty yet but will keep working to make it better! Currently working throught a github commit problem.
Did quite a bit today. I fixed the top bar so its perfectly aligned at the top. I added the javascript for dragging windows and assigned classes and ids for elements. I did the styling for the windows. If you havent guessed by the name, im trying to go for a macos sort of look. Im really happy with how its looking. im going to next add close buttons and start adding more apps.
I didnt change much, added a close button and styled it. I have no idea why it took me so long but i was able to fix all problems. i now want to add more ‘apps’ maybe a notepad or calculator.
Today i began adding a new app (notepad). I created the icon and styled/formatted it, so when hovered over it glows yellow (for banana). Talking about bananas i changed the wallpaper to be a banana. I plan to later add a settings to toggle between the two wallpapers and css styles. but thats for later! Ill now finish the notepad app and work on some others.
Today i made the icon clickable. (so it opens the notes window). i didnt really like how in the guide you have to double click to open apps. I feel like i prefer just having a single click. I commented out the other code just in case i change my mind later. im gonna work on making the notepad functional.
I finished the notepad app (yay!). It follows the same sort of design as the welcome, i might change it later, but most likely once I move onto WebOS2. The editable text works, it does save but not when you reload the page, so I might fix that up later. My next step is to add one more app (probably a settings app) and then submit!
I added a new app! There is now a settings app for bananaOS. It currently doesnt have much, only the ability to change between the two wallpapers (like i mentioned previously). I plan to keep adding more settings features as I continue to build my webOs.
I didnt add too much today, just the foundations for a calendar app. i added a new window/icon with dragging and closing functions. to make the calendar, i will follow a tutorial (because i have no idea how!)
I finished the calendar app! It shows the current date (highlighted with a red circle). you can also see other months by clicking the arrows. im really happy with how it turned out, i might change a bit of the styling, maybe the colours? (not too sure). i plan to add another app, idk what yet but yea, thats for tomorrow!
I have began working on a new app… a browser! i havent done much, just worked on the main structure and began the css. im gonna use javascript to make it actually work, at this stage it will probably just redirect users to what they search in gooogle, but i might change that later.
Havent really done much in the past few days, I began the basic app and window structure for a music player, but i havent found a suitable tutorial yet. for now, i will first make a calculator app. i have already created the main layout and will begin coding the actual calculator tomorrow.

Finally shipping it! This is my final version of bananaOS for WebOS1. It has currently has two apps and a welcome screen. I am really happy with how this turned out, I think it looks pretty good! I did find some parts challenging, especially the JavaScript (im getting there). I plan on adding more apps and making it better in WebOS2....

Started working on my NLP system that powers b4usend . So essentially today i built the base for a rule based NLP text analysis system . My analyzer works by using 19 communication signals which include politeness, warmth , friendliness, warmth , frustration , hostility , pressure , urgency , blame and so on and the way this works is by using context aware scoring so it doesn’t simply look for keywords but rather it looks around a phrase to see if its being negated , hedged , used in a conditional way , quoted and so on . So for negation handling, words such as not ,never , can’t , don’t etc reduce the strength of the detected signal . For hedging detection words or phrases such as “maybe” “i guess” “probably” lower the certainty . Detecting conditionals such as “if” “when” “could” and so on can affect the confidence of interpretation. Also there is signal specific context where for instance hostility to yourself is treated as different form hostility to others and things like blame need evidence of a target , things like sarcasm should get special treatment as positive words can be used sarcastically and polite wording can be downgraded if the surrounding text seems sarcastic , to detect intensity we use indicators like multiple occurrences of “!” or “?” or strong words like “absolutely” or “totally” etc . Formality detection is done by categorizing words like “furthermore” , “respectfully” etc into formal and words like “yo” , “gonna” , “wanna” etc as casual and thus finally gives us a confidence score based on the number of patterns found , message length and contextual cues . The main benefit of this is that its completely local and doesn’t send your messages to an ai model elsewhere and all processing is done locally . Also we learned how to integrate things like sendblue for the messaging service, convex for the database, and composio for integrations. We learned how to deploy a website for the first time with a custom domain and update DNS records. We learned what a monorepo was and how it could be useful for our product → we shaped it like a web app, electron app, mobile, etc. We also improved our github skills through making PRs, merging, figuring out how to solve merge conflicts. We learned how to make dispatcher models, allowing an agent to use multiple subprocesses and other tools. Improved our skills at navigating editors like VS Code and Zed. here’s our website: https://azraj.tech/ Currently it may not work because we don’t have the subscription for phone numbers to unverified numbers, so that would be our next goal.
