Entry #1 I have spent some time making a schematic. This is not my first time trying to make a schematic, as I have some experience with EasyEDA. To make this schematic, I followed a YouTube tutorial by Joe Scotto on how to Design Mechanical Keyboard PCBs with KiCad. I used his provided symbols and other resources for this schematic
Entry #2 I have completed the layout of the keyboard and managed to put the holes for the stabelizers, now I need to wire it up an make all the other things like the case and plate.
Entry #3 I am scraping the pcb due to many reasons Pcb manufacturing is expensive especially with pick and place It add unnecessary complexity in my build Hand wiring is cheaper
Entry 4 I have completed my 3d printed plate and my case and they are ready to get printed -Now I am basically waiting on getting approved and funded
Entry 5 -I have made a pcb attachment for each switch for rgb leds -Updated the plate and case to support proper stabilizers
Entry #6 Calculated Cost and sliced 3d prints to fit on printers
Entry #7 Switched to printing-legion Amazon Cost increased due to taxes and shipping :(...

Overall, I enjoyed dipping my feed into this project and am excited to design the case of the pad in a software that im more comfortable using!
Finished PCB, and worked on designing the case after taking a week off working on this project for other more important projects! (whoops)
revised the layout of the pcb so the cable would come out the back of the pad and the OLED screen would be vertical along the left side. started to work these changes into the case design
worked on the case a bit more and changed a few things in the design. having fun!
cleaned up the CAD file and added snoopy! (woodstock too) started the firmware side of things but still have a bit to go on that side
Polish Polish Polish! still have a bit more to do but I got the firmware into a finished state and created the Github page, overall polishing the project to get it ready to ship in the near future...

I first started creating a simple Position struct, moved to create a simple Game class, then created Input matching using crossterm terminal library built in Events where I was getting confused between an “associated” fn vs a method and got into this thinking loop because of Result<Option<Command>> but basically you need to read it from inside out, if that helps! Also I can’t be more grateful for THE GOAT KEYWORD…drumroll… match ! I don’t understand why other languages don’t have this, it’s way easier to handle enums this way! After being done with input, I added a input handling function to my game file to update player_pos . Then going back to main, I added a loop and made sure all the pieces fit together. I then did my first test where I saw movement working! but there were some issues that I resolved in later commits, like the character being in different places b/c of not clearing the screen before every redraw and adding a delay so that my CPU doesn’t BLOW UP from the loop. I still need to fix one thing though: the loop breaks even without me pressing the quit button after some time, so I need to figure out what’s doing that. I also need to make sure the terminal window size and character updating is synced. In the next devlog I’ll try to add some food and hopefully start adding some snake growing logic! Glad that I’ve got to learn crossterm , and hope to learn async and tokio , etc with rust in the future… sorry for the yap, nevertheless, I think I took a bit long to create basic movement but I’m satisfied since it’s my first time. Also I uploaded a gif bc for some reason .mkv upload didn’t work"}, {"post_id": 37918, "ts": "2026-07-30T22:30:23Z", "hours": 0.675, "text": "Devlog #1 (snakinal - a snake game in the terminal) This is my first time in a long time doing something related to the terminal and also my first time with Rust 🦀 (I’ve fiddled with C++, so that background helps me connect to things in rust)! Anyways, below I’ve managed to write something simple in the terminal through a bit of AI help. In this devlog I’ve learnt quite a bit of rust syntax: like how creating “classes” in rust has a 3 step procedure ( struct , impl , and trait ) instead of just class in other low level languages !() are macros that executes before compile time ?; is used on expressions that can return a success or fail, and to return the error immediately if it fails, also only works when the return type is Result<> learnt a bit about how crossterm library functions work also took me a year to understand why lsp/linting wouldn’t work for another file that I had. Apparently Rust doesn’t see files unless you do mod <filename> in main.rs One more thing that still slightly confuses me is the difference between :: & . and when to use one or the other (so if someone doesn’t mind commenting, I’d really appreciate!)
