Devlogs:
First devlog! Since this is my first devlog, i’ll give an update of what this project is, because I’ve started this project a month before stardance, basically, this is for an IoT competition and I wanted to get feedback and share my work with everyone as this is my bigest project yet Initial idea: xX_Shadow_Hunter_Xx or Shadow Hunter is an internet of things (IoT) based data gathering device that is designed to gather environmental data wirelessly in post disastrous areas that are dangerous to approach and have limited energy supply. This project is based on climate disaster mitigation technology, aimed towards post-earthquake disaster. First devlog: Fixing the shoulder part for my spider robot, idk if this is final as there are some errors that I’m not sure if it fixed or not lol ──────────────────────────────────────────────── Timelapse link: https://lapse.hackclub.com/timelapse/MShPOLWQmNkO
Tried to fix the missalignment but it won’t go away, but atleast now i know where’s the error
Translating Shadow’s report basically, its a detailed explanation of my project (Shadow Hunter) Here’s the list of detailed explanation (still on going) Background Initial idea Purpose and its benefit Limitations Target audience Part & tools that I use Implemented concept Designing and prototyping Testing Documentation It is not fully finished as I prewrite some of this in my own langguage and then translate it to English and also I still need to add some stuff
Shadow Hunter report you can see the update on this link and comment any suggestion! Also, I’m working on a separate docs as the Indonesian version is for an ongoing competition (it is stated that all rights to my work is still mine), and because I don’t want to disturb the competition version with the English one, I separate the docs. Here I attached the proof of working on my Indonesian docs and my translated docs that you can read and comment on! ──────────────────────────────────────────────── Shadow’s report link https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Cm4hbkKl3CnUX5Tc_nzmHTw8mYc46gp4ql9gRl0hm7w/edit?usp=sharing
Finishing Shadow’s model During simulation (the CAD version), all parts work as intended, and the measurements is right, ill order a 3d print of this model (only one of its leg cus its cheaper) and test it with real servo :D Parts used Body V3.4 Upper body V1.4 Thigh V1.3 Calf V2.1 Hex V1.2
Shadow’s design process before I join stardance! I included spider’s background research and what drive me into making this project :D ──────────────────────────────────────────────── Full document https://canva.link/e4f69aawnli16qy
First time using arduino IDE with hackatime This is my first time using Arduino IDE with hackatime and I’m just seeing if its work, also because its my praying time rn lol, also, I relocate files in this timelapse because when I first join stardance, I thought it doesn’t support arduino IDE time track in ubuntu And turns out, hackatime does have an extension for arduino ide in ubuntu, so now I’m relocating the file into ide that had been relocated from ide to vscode I preffer to use arduino ide as I find vscode’s AI being too helpful cus everytime I type, the AI reccomend me lines of codes and I find it hard to sharpen my coding or debugging No hate to vscode users but I just find arduino ide is less helping me and what doesn’t kill you make you stronger right?
Updating Shadow’s Model So an alternative popped in my head when I was praying for its half a leg mode lol Since folding its calf to its tigh won’t work proportionally as it require the calf to be shorter than the thigh, then I made it close up just like my initial idea but its not 100% folded inside I can see the vision where it’ll be more stable when idle such as in its monitoring/sleeping mode because its wider, and have a larger feet surface area touching the ground But to test this out, means I have to make sure a single leg is functional, so this mode will be tested in some later time In the meantime, I’ll order a print of a single leg to test it directly
Added DHT22 Temperature and Humidity Reading Well, this lines is unable to plot the data to the website hust yet, as I’m just trialing if its actually readable as a bare code with no pretty-ness
Made a Circuit Plan First picture is the one I’ve worked out on Second pic is the whole circuit plan Third pic is the simplified servo/leg circuit
Brute fixing V5 I know what’s wrong but I have school stuff in due soon, I’m stressed out, just got back from school trip, I’m going insane, I can’t do this anymore, I wanna give up school altogether, I have remedials to do, assignment to complete, exams next week, I wanna throw up So I’m brute fixing this version after assessing the printed V4 (It’s done and can be tested, only some minor bugs, also ignore the colors, I’m testing it)
Colouring! Cried my self to sleep last night to relieve my stress! I’m fine now lol I’ve tested the colour my manufacturer can print (like I said on my last devlog) and added some reinforcement to the side and the top body part because I can only make it 3mm height
Minor missalignment fixing and major reinforcement Finished adding reinforcement and added teeth/ridges and increasing the surface area of its toe so it grasp the ground better ^^
Designing the Web I’m tidying up the website code, and re-designing it (still a sketch for now)
Making the web pretty I was devastated that stardance is ending, but glad they extend it by a month, I’m tellin you, I’ll get that 30hrs certificate In the meantime, here’s the updated web interface
I can smell this project being shipped (still a wip tho) I finished adding hologram effect that highlight the when you hover your cursor over, also a button that delete the logged report and its also becomes red when you hover over it!
Lil’ Update Before Exam (yes, its 2 min before todays mid-term exam lol) I added Button flipflop si it change color corresponding to its state for ALL 4 BUTTONS Made it so that when you hover over an important div it zoomed out so its easier to read and make the background more opaque
Added a button to download the log Also the button call different function to esp32 (haven’t tested it yet but it’s there)
Web control is finished I will ship this project as now theres something for you guys to try out (I need to write the readme first) I’ve fixed the charts so now they update independantly, but I haven’t make it pretty tho, its red and looks like an error occured all the time lol imma eat my lunch first
Finished writing readme with all I’ve done for this project
Collecting and compressing shadow hunter’s body part I know it sounds bizzare, but I want to keep all of its past developement and share it with you guys, as a token of appreacitaion to my old self, to prove him that our CAD skill is improving
Configuring the web and it worked! I used my ancient code from old project… I called it ancient because I’ve forgotten how it works
ERORRRRRRRRRRRRRS
Not resolved yet. Soooooooooooo basically I know that its delivering a set of data… empty data…. It’s late now, imma do it tomorrow (no school in monday due to mid-term test has finished for my year lol)
Configuring sound data to my webb I first added an averaging function but I found that deleting data from x to -x works better in stabilizing data given x = Real number
Correcting the size of ESP32S3 slot I also added space for INMP441, DHT22, and MQ-135
idk whats wrong I was trying to code DHT22 (temp) but INMP441 (audio) just suddenly stop working, like, all of the sudden, I’m gonna go back to square one in weekend, and try to build it from beginning…
assembling charger module and gluing all the parts
2 DoF Inverse Kinematics tried it, theoretically works, practically nope
Codes for vibration sensor
#YAYA it works
Organizing Just putting vibration sensing codes in their designated files
ALL WORKDDEJIAFIAWNCWANAWUIBVHAHAHAHAH every sensor work but it get too big to handle when i activate 4 of them simoultaneously
Ships:
xX_Shadow_Hunter_Xx is a silly robot name made and designed by me, well for know, the only function it does (for now) is the sound sensor which I won’t showcase in this ship What I want to showcase is the website control pannel Everything you need to know is in the readme file in this projects github repo This is the youtube link for this projects introduction (but sadly I’ve got no time to continue YouTube serously) https://youtu.be/HKpWddRkjdQ?si=jfRWhwc86oJqWMqU...

Devlogs:
Made the header lol
Added a cool transition when pressing space
added window
What I’ve added Welcome loading screen in 8 different langguages (if I’m not mistaken) A tab that is draggable and can be closed and opened
Finished WebOS 1 Added a working calculator app (cba to code it so I use Iframe) Added a footer to preview minimized tab
Added and fixed an app Added credits and filling the “about this site”
Changed almost everything So the old one is just hide and set a style of a div to “open” and “close” it, this one actually open it By opening it, js copy and delete it, and js reopen it when a button pressed
Fixing buggy app
Ships:
Its the starting point of a big software project which showcase NASA’s old instrument or the one that is still running This devlog I just add essential stuff like funcitons! (open/close, minimize, footer, header) Currently it only have 2 apps (calculator and welcome page) Feel free to suggest other related app! I’m planning to give users the ability to open NASA’s instrument 3D model, their history, missions and other data...

I have built the docker image that will build the code and a rust program that will run the docker container and upload the build output to Cloudflare R2.
This commit was a big one. The build-worker finally got a proper API layer, added Axum with an auth middleware so only authorized clients can trigger builds. The whole flow is now queue-driven: the worker pulls jobs from Cloudflare Queues, runs the Docker build, uploads output to R2, and acknowledges the message. Feels way more production ready. Also spun up the monorepo structure properly. Added apps/control-plane (Cloudflare Worker), apps/website (Vite frontend), and packages/db-schema for shared types. pnpm workspaces are configured, root package.json has a dev:backend script. Basic .gitignore in place. The most frustrating thing was that the Cloudflare Queue send function is not working. I’ve spent hours trying to debug it, messages aren’t showing up on the CF dashboard at all. The pull/ack endpoints seem fine, but pushing messages into the queue is a dead end. Devlog #3 Changes Made the landing page for x44. Tho it was mostly generated by AI, I did the authentication and styling for the button. Set-up drizzle orm and wrote the schema for the database. Authentication(used better-auth) The problems I faced I tried to make my own authentication system, and realised after more than two hours of work that there is still a lot of work to be done to make it secure. And i can use that time to add more features. So I switched to better-auth it was a great decision according to me. And if you are in search of an authentication framework I recommend you to check better-auth once them have amazing documentation. To initialise better-auth in cf worker, I first needed to initialse drizzle and it requires a D1 instance which in only available in the context of a request. So I made a getAuth function const getAuth = ( ctx : Context ) => { const db = drizzle ( ctx . env . DB , { schema }) const auth = betterAuth ({ database : drizzleAdapter ( db , { provider : " sqlite " , schema })}) return auth } Currently working on dashboard(this is not by AI) If you have any suggestion please comment, and you can view the system architecture in the previous devlog[i am not yet sure about the subdomain routing part, so that is not drawn]. ✌️
Devlog 4 - Build the structure of the dashboard Just build the layout of the dashboard and created a new page for creating new projects[design inspired by cloudflare]. You might be thinking that this should not take 10 hours and you are right. My first thought was to not to create a new page but a dialog box. But the combobox I used for selecting repo was not registering the clicks, i was working with keyboard tho. After trying to debug a lot, I asked AI why it was not working as intended. Because I had both base-ui and radix-ui wasted 4 hours on it and ended up creating a new page altogether Next: Complete the /new-project page Connect the builder with the backend Add a detail page for projects
Devlog 5 I finished the /new-project page and wrote some types. While testing I found a major bug, that if a build request comes to the build-worker while a build is running then the output files gets overwritten, resulting in a broken deployment. I could fix it by having the outputs of the build on separate folders and uploading them one by one. But this approach wasn’t utilising the queues. FIRST DEVLOOOG - The main goal of this project is to build a rocket that can capture sick video for as cheap as possible, and make it possible for others to make through 3d printing (i am broke). Today I mainly worked on establishing the rough shape of my rocket, then I imported all of the electronics I will be using, and arranged them in an assembly. After sizing, it should be able to fit in a 35mm wide body, with the battery (2s lipo) above in the nose cone. Visit my github for the goals and hardware I’ll be using.
x3 - Today I worked on the electronics bay, mainly how the stack would slide into the yellow bay, then how the nose cone shoulder would also slide into it and lock it in. I also worked on getting the assemblies setup, and got a basic fin can started. I think I am going to do elliptical fins, usually I don’t because I think they are ugly, but with the newer rounded nose cone, I’m gonna try it because they apparently go the highest. It’s gonna use an E12-4 motor, and I’m hoping for it to go 1250 feet. The next thing I need to work on is the fins, and getting places to mount the parachute. Thanks for reading!
x3 - Today I mainly worked on the motor mount, such as adding fins, and struggling to add the mesh that would be in the motor mount. I also added the mount in the body and the electronics bay (it will separate between green and yellow. Originally I wanted to do a body mount just through a rod straight down the middle, but I decided to push it to one side to make it stronger, and make it easier to print. I am still working on the camera mount and I am about to start on v3. v1 was too simple and didn’t allow the camera to tilt 45 degrees down, which is the goal. v2 was over complicated and had horrible airflow that would pull the rocket to one side. After working on the camera mount I need to start working on the wiring and code for the camera!
Today I worked on fixing the camera mount, making it much more aerodynamic and also getting a wiring diagram done. On the ESPcam, only 1 pin is available while it is in 4 bit mode, so I need to use RX0 and TX0 and reassign them as i2c pins to interface with the bmp280. I also added many small features to the 3d model, such as vent holes for the electronics, launch lugs, and dowel holes to hold the motor in after it is inserted. Now I need to start figuring out the code, as the ESPcam and perfboard are arriving soon.
Yo yo, after many toils, I managed to get the bmp280 sensor to FINALLY interface with my esp32 (i had scl and sda swapped :(, and I took the example sketches for the sensor, and rewrote some parts and stripped out what wasn’t necessary until I had what I needed. Next I changed the fins from elliptical to cool swept-back trapezoidal fins, 1 because they look cooler, and 2 they offer similar performance but give less spin to the rocket, which is important for filming. The rest of the hardware arrives TOMORROW, i have been waiting a long time for this, so I am also gonna be doing some assembly tomorrow. Next plan for the project is gonna be some esp code, that detects different stages of flight with the altimeter. yo yo out
Been a couple days, but I’m getting back into it. I got the hardware assembled, with one problem being my power situation. I originally planned to use a 2s lipo, but it does not have enough cooling to deal with that. It was my first time using perfboard, so it took me a long time, but I got it done. The hardware slid into the printed bay perfectly, but it needs a few fixes, which include, higher placed camera mount, slightly larger launch lug hole, and fix my printer from stringing. I also finished adding landing detection to my logic. One part of me is considering switching the landing detection to a more robust system, but I’m not sure yet. Any suggestions for apogee and landing detection from altitude data is very welcome!
First time using freeRTOS, this is some intense stuff, but I finally got it set up where one core handles the sensors and state machine logic, and the other one handles the camera, and saving the frames to storage. Today, I basically fully finished the sensor core, adding detection for when it launches, when it passes apogee, and when it has landed. I also created a struct that saves alt, pres, temp, and time, to psram. I decided to migrate the project over to platformIO, and since I was switching I decided I would improve the logic, and also use two cores. Previously I used the average alt within a second, then fully delete that array and create a new one. Now it uses a rolling array. The launch and apogee detection is pretty simple, if the average now is higher or lower by a certain threshold boom detected, but for the landing I decided to make it so that it has to stay within a certain threshold for 5 seconds, and if it breaks it once it resets. Next I need to setup the camera logic (not excited)
Got the camera working, and added the camera logic to the main program. This photo is just from the example sketch that comes with it but next goal is to find a way to reliably power the hardware so I can test the code. It does compile without errors, but I’m not feeling very lucky about it actually interfacing right. Instead of fully re initializing the camera though, I just initialized it at the higher quality but used the low resolution. The only thing I need to do for the logic now is get the array of sensor readings and save it to sd after the video stops recording.
Been a loooong time since I’ve updated on this, I’ve done little pieces here and there but not enough where I start lookout. For the time I’ve logged I finally finished v1 but I am about to test it on hardware (wish me luck, not feeling lucky). I also tried to fix my 3d printer with different slicer settings. Apart from the logs I’ve printed out all of the pieces and done some general troubleshooting on the avionics. To solve the power I got a boost converter to take 3.3v to 5v, and it works. One big transition I’m making with the project is if after testing the camera resolution switch is ineffective I’m gonna reduce the scope of this project and just do one resolution to make it more reliable. I’m gonna LOCK IN over the next week and get it done...

Todays work: figured out how to open github repository in vsc (╺﹏╺) , laid the backbones of my site!
Devlog #2 Completely changed the layout i was going for after seeing an inspiring website today. im also playing around with :hover and dropdowns to make my site somewhat interactive without javascript ^^
Devlog #3: Added a music player to my website by following a javascript tutorial. it was my first time using javascript for a project, so it took a while to figure out and debug. i also learned how to add assets in visual studio code which i’d never tried before
Devlog #4: Almost done… spent hours trying to figure out how to make the message box work, just to delete it in the end. I need to learn more before I try it :’)
Devlog #5: Made a ReadMe. Also moved the music player upward to make the play button accessible after discovering chrome blocks autoplay.

How wobblyOS windows feel alive The goal of this system is not to “animate” windows with CSS transitions. It treats every window as a physical object with mass, velocity and momentum, then simulates that every frame. This makes movement feel weighted, reactive, and surprisingly satisfying. The spring Every window tracks two positions- where it is, and where it’s going: currentX += (targetX - currentX) * 0.18 That 0.18 is the spring stiffness. Velocity After each position update, velocity is derived from the gap that remains: velocityX = targetX - currentX This is reused for every visual effect. Rotation The window tilts based on how fast it’s moving horizontally: rotate = velocityX * 0.08 Drag it left and it leans left. Etc etc. Squash & stretch Animation principle, applied physically: stretchX = 1 + abs(velocityX) * 0.0015 stretchY = 1 - abs(velocityX) * 0.0008 Fast horizontal movement makes it wider and slightly shorter. Bounce A sine wave modulated by current velocity adds a subtle wobble while moving: bounce = sin(time * 0.015) * min(speed, 25) * 0.15 When still, it does nothing- moving, it oscillates. Open & close A second spring drives the scale when windows appear or disappear: velocity += (target - value) * stiffness value += velocity Open: spring launches from 0 with an initial velocity kick, overshoots 1, bounces back. Close: target flips to 0, the window squashes down toward the taskbar and vanishes. Taskbar Waits 500ms after the window is gone, then pops in on its own spring. Restore reverses it- button springs out first, then the window pops back. Summary Every effect shares one velocity value derived from one spring equation. No CSS transitions, no keyframes, just position, momentum, and a multiply.
Best way to make my “web os” feel like a real app? Disabling user text selection (seriously 😭)
