I decided to start the work by making the app work first. Bit by bit, every weekend I worked on this. Three weeks into this, the logic part is almost done! More insight into the logic - The logic consists of simple math but use of lot of variables in the code, multiple functions used in a timely manner to make the code function properly. Especially in the main game where calculations have to be made crisp to make the game fair. It has to account for the small and big blinds put by the players, Succession of the blinds onto next round, keeping the status of players, whether active or folded, storing the game values such as call amount, bet amount, raise values and much more! Overall a web of 1s and 0s but when looked into a particular part of the logic, It becomes easier to code. I made the software bit by bit, taking small steps but compounding. Well it’s not done yet! It’s only 600 lines of code till now, I still have more to do. The UI especially, I also plan to make this code opensource so that no cheating can be done. Well that’s it for now. Building the Astrobase Visual Identity Today I focused on redesigning the visual side of the Astrobase homepage. I worked on the hero section, typography, colour palette, section layouts and the Explore Astrobase cards. Devlogs:
Started a tic-tac-toe project with a random-move simulator. Built the basic board logic first: a 9-cell board, printing it out, checking valid moves, and checking for a winner across all 8 win lines. Then wired up two players who just pick random moves and play until someone wins or it’s a draw. Ran it for 10 games in a row and printed the result of each one. Nothing fancy yet, just the scaffolding to build the real thing on top of.
Swapped the random-move players for actual Q-learning. Instead of both sides just picking randomly, moves now come from an epsilon-greedy policy: mostly pick the best known move for the current board state, occasionally pick a random one to keep exploring. Added state encoding (board from the current player’s perspective, so X and O see it the same way), a Q-value table, and updates after every move based on the reward (win, loss, or draw). Also added saving and loading the trained table to q_table.json so training runs don’t have to start from zero, train.py now loads it in on startup. Next step is actually building a playable UI.
You can now actually play against the trained agent, from the terminal. Added a CLI script where a human plays against the agent, the agent picks its moves greedily off the Q-table instead of exploring. Cleaned up the board printing with separators so it’s easier to read between turns while playing. Right now it’s just a command line game. A full UI is the plan for later.
Moved the game into the browser. Built a web version with HTML, CSS, and JS, it loads the trained Q-table straight from the JSON file and picks the agent’s move client side, no server needed. Click a cell to play as X, the agent answers as O. Also retrained the table with a small tweak, new board states now start at -0.1 instead of 0, and wrapped the training code so importing train.py doesn’t kick off a training run by accident. The old CLI script is retired now that the browser version covers the same thing. It works but looks plain right now, next up is actually styling it properly.
Made the agent a little less predictable and gave the site an actual style pass. The agent now plays a random move 7.5% of the time instead of always going for its best known move, so games don’t play out the same way every time. Then did the styling I mentioned wanting to do: added a “your turn / agent’s turn” indicator, a short pause before the agent’s move shows up on the board (with a click guard so you can’t sneak in an extra move during that pause), and reworked the colors and spacing on the board, the reset button, and the title. Starting to feel like a real little site instead of just a board with squares.

Most of them pull from free APIs with fallbacks when those APIs go down (which they do, constantly). APIs I hooked up: official jokes, useless facts, advice slip, zenquotes, dictionaryapi, numbersapi, opentdb, catfact.ninja, dog.ceo, evilinsult, would-you-rather, yesno.wtf, bored-api, kanye.rest, coingecko, wttr.in. The weather one uses wttr.in which just returns raw terminal-formatted text and I love it for that. Made a /toc-help command that shows everything in a categorized menu with an ASCII box header because why not. Pushed the code quality stuff early — strict tsconfig, noUnusedLocals, that whole checklist. Pre-push hook runs typecheck + lint + format check so I cannot push broken code even if I wanted to. Built a frontend showcase site for GitHub Pages. Dark theme, command cards with search, copy-to-clipboard, keyboard shortcuts. The GitHub Actions workflow deploys it automatically on push to main. Live at tadstech.github.io/SlackBot if you want to see it. The bot runs on Bun and stays alive through the Socket Mode WebSocket. All 23 commands registered in the Slack API dashboard. Just starts, connects via WebSocket, and listens for slash commands. First pass was basic. 8 commands, Husky hooks, ESLint + Prettier locked in. Boring scaffolding stuff. Then I went ham on the commands. Ended up with 23 slash commands across 4 categories — Utility, Fun, Knowledge, Media. Every command has random response variants so it does not feel like talking to a vending machine. No HTTP endpoint, no ngrok, none of that nonsense. That is it. A day of work, 23 commands, one GitHub Pages site, too many API wrappers....

Devlogs:
started working on the HTML interface and learning how to make a traduction function, it looks boring but It’ll be cool trust me!!!! Added a header a section and a main body to be more organized.
Still working on the colors I will use on the interface, added a navbar in the top part of the page, a placeholder text explaining what Quantum Pulse Study is and the two options to choose between Maths and Phyisics, I’m still researching on the topics I’ll use on both units. It’s late so I will go to sleep now lollllllllllllllllllllllllllllll gn
Finished the main interface, kinda simple tbh but I decided to go with green color for the buttons as well as the hover effect. Now time to work on the JS (send help SOS my eyes will burn)
I decided to grab some topics from my Machine Learning book and I’m adding topics like linear equations and quadratic equations to start off from something “easy”. It’s actually taking a bit long cause I use python in my books but I’m using JS rn soooo It’s not that difficult but meh. I’m planning 20 topics for Maths and 20 for Phyisics!
Translation no works!!! Now comes the hard part, making ALL the topics appear when clicking the area of interest. I got 20 math topics and 20 on physics.
Exercises now work!!! As well as dark mode and translation. I will ship it now I think..

I made a web page where you can take tests about maths and phyisics. I uses my Maths and Physics textbook to choose the topic, then properly reviewed the questions and answers. The challenging part was to translate and writing most of the problems. I will be proud if people actually get to use this page to never forget how to make this type of problems. I used HTML, CSS, and JS....
