Today I worked on my web OS app by adding background, window, and top bar. I tried a different look from the example by adding logo and stylish 2-line clock.
I made my app more interactive by making the window draggable and adding a handle for moving. I also added buttons to open and close the window.
Today I created my first KiraOS apps - image viewer and simple notes app. I added desktop icons, separate windows, and basic open, close, move, and selection features to both apps.
Today I added Kira Paint app - a simple pixel editor. It has a pixel-based area where each square can be colored by clicking or holding the mouse. There’re also controls to pick the color or choose the grid size. Then just added a button to download your masterpiece as PNG.

The difference? As shown in the picture, this is a browser extension. Which means you do not have to open it live to use it but instead you have a lil version at the side of your screen, cute innit? What’s even better is it can detect whether you’re on an AI site, tho ofc only the AI I outlined in it but that’s basically the main AI that I added so…not exactly worried. My issues? THE EXTENSION UPLOADING. Likeeeeee it was the 2nd hardest aspect of it all, the hardest was the JavaScript and easiest was the manifest, or no, the content.css. To be more specific the uploading was an issue because the emojis were loading as awkward symbols and I didn’t know why. I first saved it on VS code as UTF-8 since my friend told me to, then it didn’t change a thing. They then said I should save encoding as “UTF-8 with BOM” tell me what even is the difference. I guess there was one, but it wasted my time so much so that the frustration made me not ship this even though I was more or less done. Another issue was icon designing since designs aren’t my thing but for some reason it turned out alright. Then, I had to get it resized, nearly lost my PC by visiting some rip-off resizer site that gave me some sketchy file to download, if I wasn’t cautious, this PC of mine wouldn’t have seen this moment. Though, all in all, this was fun, not nerdy fun but the thought that I could build this is motivation because my goal seems more feasible now. So ironic that what I am anticipating isn’t related to Sustainability at all, but kinda is? It’s complicated, but yes visit my repo please and use the extension so you can track your Water Use live on the go.", "repo": "https://github.com/Itz-COCO/AI-Water-Extension", "demo": "https://github.com/Itz-COCO/AI-Water-Extension.git"}]...

The code was sorted out and the content.css didn’t take me long it was debugging the icons that became my issue even now I don’t know why the icon is refusing to load on the extension page, it’s really frustrating me and I have tried many things but it’s not complying, but I’m leaving it as is since the main thing is actually working pretty well, no bugs whatsoever. Then I had to install chrome on my PC since I actually just got this last week ( I mentioned this before in my first project). Anyways, the folder can be viewed in my GitHub repo which will prolly come soon if I ship it. I implore y’all to give it a shot. Both on edge and Chrome. Please look forward to my next two projects, I mean it."}, {"post_id": 40047, "ts": "2026-08-03T12:21:59Z", "hours": 0.9842, "text": "Just finished the content.js file. It did take me a while cause of formatting I ended up overcrowding lines, and I am very sure I still have that issue but Imma sort it out during debugging. I see my files in this way: popup.html is my mockup structure, popup.js is the brain for that that gives it basic function, which is why from my screenshot earlier, you could see like the calculator working but other things weren’t. The purpose of my content.js is to enable REAL TIME TRACKING. It silently runs on the ai site (butchu gotta get the extension first, obviously) Which reminds me that I am yet to finish the github repository for all this neither have I added it to chrome extensions but that’s meant to be the last part since I need the folder itself complete so lemme not rush. So basically, manifest.json tells chrome this is an extension, Ive explained the popup duo, also the content.js I just finished. Of course, icons are self- explanatory. Then, content.css is just to spruce the whole thing up. Can’t wait to finish this. I was very puzzled, so I visited my calculator code and then it just kinda clicked to try, and I did then the errors stopped. I am now finished with the popup.js file. Took me a while but I guess it’s kinda changing the extension a bit more. It can now perform the basic calculation aspect, still isn’t loading the dashboard values though, but I’mma handle that in the last two files: content.js and content.css. Yeah, pretty much, whereas the calculator remarks praise you for using a model other than ChatGPT. The remarks here are a lottttt."}, {"post_id": 39764, "ts": "2026-08-02T22:58:52Z", "hours": 0.7306, "text": "… Finished debugging the html, I now need to move on to the script. But man, this looks mad corny…incredibly so. But I was warned and went through with it anyways, so that’s definitely on me so I shall trust the process. Let’s see how better it looks when I add the content files and the JS to all this"}, {"post_id": 39742, "ts": "2026-08-02T22:09:10Z", "hours": 0.8667, "text": "Well, I am completely done with the style section of my code. Devlogs:
Under the oh-so calm guidance of resources and my friend dearest, I am doing devlogs. I realized I didn’t fully understand the concept of devlogs during my last project and now I do. Then again, I could not do much since the code was finished way before StarDance. Anyways, the first step of extension creation is supposedly like creating different files. Like 5 in total: manifest.json , popup.html, popup.js, content.css and content.js. Not sure if this is the standard way but SoloLearn and other sites told me so and then a friend said this is the best route for a beginner like myself, lowkey hope they’re right tho cuz mehn tbh the site visits I have had to make for this manifest.json file ain’t for the weak. Well, the manifest file wrapped up pretty quickly, so I had to move on to the icon, I used Canva to create a mildish icon then had it resized 16x 16, 48x48 and the OG Canva design was 128x128. I needed these 3 since they’re like the essential sizes the icon will be viewed in for the browser extension, well it took me a while, but I finished and I am currently like dealing with the popup.html document, my backbone. Taking my time, I drafted the main code on paper earlier today via phone, so I am converting it by finger on laptop, I have become a faster code typer with my glasses so at this speed and consistency I will prolly be finished really soon, but here’s the icon look, very basic tbh but to me it’s perfect. I am taking my time styling the html because my first site was WAY TOO plain. Therefore, the flaw with this one will be that the site in itself looks like it’s high…. Anyways, I hope not but my friend reviewed my code and thinks otherwise. Ah yes, here’s my icon
Well, I am completely done with the style section of my code. Made sure it was really personalized, added a mascot concept, bouncing text animation and implemented the Font package Fredoka One and Nunito, I am hoping it’ll turn out nicely because I feel I prolly have bugs buh I am not debugging just yet so warrever. Prop tip: Evn if you lowkey wanna bank up on hours, it’s best to separately plan code and test on a different device so when retyping elsewhere, you’re immersed in the code and efficent. (I am in no place say allat, buh yeah, it helped me a lto to pull this off)
… Finished debugging the html, I now need to move on to the script. But man, this looks mad corny…incredibly so. But I was warned and went through with it anyways, so that’s definitely on me so I shall trust the process. Let’s see how better it looks when I add the content files and the JS to all this
Finally started the script, hopefully it makes up for that sorry looking thing I showed earlier; to make this an improved version of the calculator, I added more cheeky remarks (yes, I said that). I was feeling odd so they may be weird buh I didn’t add emojis this time unlike the calculator and these remarks are…harsh? Yeah, pretty much, whereas the calculator remarks praise you for using a model other than ChatGPT. The remarks here are a lottttt.
I am kinda stuck rn, after persevering using the sound of rain in my area as motivation in the dark, I have come to a major block, I first had storage issues since I needed the right storage set up for a chrome extension so I kept deleting and reenacting over and over again. Well, I dealt with allat and now I’m here. The code looks fine to me tbh I don’t even understand.
Oh, so the reason for the issue back then was because they were not on the same line. There is no particular order (I think) I am merely following the easy building block guide
Just finished the content.js file. So, I can handle the next 2.
I’M DONE. This last bit was so difficult. Please look forward to my next two projects, I mean it.
Ships:
This is like a sort of sequel to my first project, the AI water calculator. It’s complicated, but yes visit my repo please and use the extension so you can track your Water Use live on the go....

Finally made the moving tab work, I have a great plan for this. I’m thinking of changing the background daily, and to put a “find out more about this image tab”, that’s basically the apod api
Soooo I’m like halfway thru the guide (the interesting part of it), finally got everything working, I just want to make it more modular (I’ll explain later)
Finally made the apps fully modular, any js script can be made by anyone, I have to make a platform now to upload such scripts
Officially made a user-friendly (kinda) platform to add apps, I will now go on to some actual apps and I’m done
Finally have a good demo for the weather app!!
It’s officially done! There are still features I’d like to add later on, but for now this is a functional webOS. You can check out the latest demo right here: https://clumsy261.github.io/andOS/
I’ve implemented two new functions!! The resizeElement initializez a div in the bottom right corner of the window. It acts as a handle to resize the window. It has no practical use I can think of, aside from user experience. And then there is the overlay function, I forgot to put this in from the original guide but now this allows each app to be put in front of the others when interacted with.
Completed the notes app! New feature: Apps can now be resized properly, since the resize function returns an event-target that can be used in the custom app script.
Today was a good day, I finished the notes app earlier (not sure it was today) aaaand implemented a new feature I wanted for some time. Now every day my os has a new background, the nasa apod background! I also added an info window that includes the name and info about the image. I got the idea from windows back when I had to use it without a license and this was the default.
I have succesfully made a custom script for custom apps. Now an entire window can be opened on my page with an object like this. I only need to add two things, one local interface to actually submit the code from a user, and then a public app store.
He he hell yeah It’s done. A working demo for the submitting apps is done, now any user can actually create their own app inside my webos (for real this time) I’ll add some user-friendly documentation soon on the prebuilt functions and more.
The hard part is done. AndOS now has a code editor, “compiler” and publisher ~ and all bugs that I knew of are gone :D
First app is up! :D Made a ping-pong game (mostly ai slop) … BUT I KNOW how it works, had to make the game pause when hidden and resume when the window gets clicked.
I just wrote a decent README so, It’s finished!!! :D (for the 17th time) The app store isn’t very rich right now, but I plan on adding more apps if users request any
I’ve looked at some post-use apps made by some users and fixed some bugs: if the icon is invalid it’s replaced by a default “gears” app doesn’t allow blank titles anymore - they get renamed “App ” if left blank Now I’m debating wether or not to manually remove junk apps - test blobs made by some users just for testing the platform
Ships:
I made a custom webOS using the guide offered by stardance. It was really simple, thinking back on it. I added a template for future apps and made it more efficient with file sorting. I’m planning on adding an actual window creator app, where a user can write any code they want to compile into the OS as an actual app.
Here is the newest version of my webOS! https://clumsy261.github.io/andOS/ Among the new features from the first part there are: -a new notes app -a new code editor app (for custom user scripts) -an actual app store for user made apps -resizeable windows (made easy by just using resizeElement(card) in any custom script) -ping pong app (vibe coded but made to be a proof of concept) -secret easter egg add (check out what the andOS name actually means) This was a really nice experience, now I really understand most html, css and js concepts (not many courses offer that). I started this after my dad and I spent 45 minutes arguing over an immigration article where we were both citing different sources reporting the same statistic at different numbers, and neither of us could figure out who was right because we couldn’t agree on which source to trust. My first instinct was a binary fact-checker that returns TRUE or FALSE, but the first time I prompted Claude that way I got confident verdicts with no sources and realized immediately that a confidently wrong answer with no citations is worse than no answer at all. I tried GPT-4 for claim extraction and kept getting paragraph-length analysis instead of a JSON array, then switched to Claude and got clean structured output on the first attempt once I tightened the prompt. Extract factual claims from the article below. Return ONLY a JSON array of strings. No explanation before the array. No explanation after. No markdown fences. I finished the session with a Python script that takes pasted article text and returns a JSON array of 5-8 discrete factual claims, all traceable to specific sentences in the article.
I caught a bad bug where the extractor was hallucinating numbers: I ran the same AP unemployment article three times and the reported rate came out as 4.2%, 4.1%, and 3.9% across the three runs when the article clearly says 4.2%. The model was filling in from training data instead of reading the text in front of it, which is a subtle failure mode because the numbers look plausible enough that you would never notice without explicitly checking. The fix was adding a verbatim extraction instruction to the system prompt and setting temperature to 0.
I started with SerpAPI for web search and spent the first two hours realizing every result it returned was months old because of aggressive free-tier caching, then switched to Brave Search API and got current results immediately. My first verification approach was a single prompt passing the claim and search results to Claude at once, but the outputs were shallow and the first search query was usually wrong anyway, so I built an iterative loop where Claude picks a query, I run the search, and Claude decides whether to go deeper or return a result. The loop ran forever in early testing until I added a hard stopping rule to the prompt: “If you have at least 2 independent sources that confirm or deny the claim, stop searching and return your assessment now.” By the end of the day, the pipeline surfaced CNN and Fox both citing the same BLS statistic with completely different framings alongside the actual BLS.gov primary source, which was exactly the output I had been trying to build toward.
I added the divergence layer today, which surfaces how outlets with different political leans frame the same underlying fact rather than just whether the fact is accurate. I first tried scraping lean ratings from AllSides at runtime but scrapped it after 45 minutes because it was fragile, probably against their ToS, and too slow for a per-request lookup. I replaced it with a hardcoded lookup table sourced from Ad Fontes Media data covering about 40 major outlets, where anything not in the table returns “Unknown” rather than a guess. Testing it on a border crossings story came back with CNN describing the encounter numbers as a humanitarian crisis, Fox describing the same numbers as a Biden policy failure, and the DHS primary source showing the raw figure all three were citing.
Two things kept crashing longer test runs so I fixed them both today. Claude was returning malformed JSON about one in fifteen runs despite explicit instructions, either wrapping output in backticks or adding a trailing comma, so I added a cleanup step before JSON.parse and a retry that sends the raw response back with “this was not valid JSON, return only the array with no other text.” The second issue was unverifiable claims burning three full search iterations and returning nothing, so I added a classification step upfront where subjective claims skip the loop entirely and return a subjective_claim flag instead.

I also got started on a funcs.py file that’ll have a bunch of essential functions, such as taking a 2D array that represents a grid and making it an adjacency map (which’ll be useful for the first search algorithm I’m going to implement, depth first search).
Today was a lot of debugging and more framework - almost all of the code I wrote in funcs.py was bugged in some way. My linearize and delinearize methods both were switching around what x and y mean, since I was thinking mathematically where x is horizontal and y is vertical, but since I was taking an x index before a y index, they should’ve been switched. After fixing those bugs and some more bugs in my adjacency map generator, I got those working, and laid out the framework for the first searching algorithm I’ll actually implement - Depth First Search. The attached screenshot shows the adjacency map with all bugs fixed.
