#2 - Final: Added dashboard to view remotely, telemetry data extractor and sender ( src/pull.py ) and more like install.sh (you can view the installation guidance at README.md in the repo) and url.sh to get URL and more
Redesign the UX/UI to minimalist brutalism, as the previous version looks a lot vibecoded, so then i changed it to brutalism as it’s easy to create and rework

Really hope to continue in the next event! But here is what Mesa AI does right now: 📋 Generate concise summary notes from lectures which you can edit yourself, in a Notion-style editor. 🤖 Comes with a agent (i like to call it sidekick) that can search your lecture notes, research on the web, and put all that together by editing directly into your notes. 🗹 Ships with a quiz function for reinforced learning as well Built with a flexible tab-interface, allowing you to make opened chats/quizzes larger, or on the side as you please. 📑 Subject-specific instructions keep notes & quizzes relevant to syllabus, instead of those generic AI study apps out there. 📚 And an organization system that splits notes into classes, and files into folders. Demo credentials: Email: [email protected] Password: test1234 I don’t recommend using this, since you’ll be skipping out on the actual tutorials and onboarding flow. Just use if you’re too lazy. Here are some improvements from the Flavourtown edition: Model flexiblity: No longer locked to just Gemini in the chat 👀 Custom Rag pipeline built from scratch: Files are uploaded in 10s, while chat context is no longer bloated. 🖼️ More supported files: PDFs, slides, word documents, images can all be uploaded. 🗲 Efficient notebooks design: The layout has been reconfigured, letting you resize the side panel, and move tabs anywhere you like. 🔍 Agent chat: Chat can now search through your files directly instead of being a wrapper ☁️ Editable notes: Notes are no longer read-only, and save your changes! Things I learned: How to upload files with streams, and making those streams editable. How to integrate a text-editor. How to make AI interact with the BlockNote editor, given they don’t have a direct AI extension for my use case. How to create a RAG system, from extracting, to chunking, to embedding and querying. How to add tools to the model, making it truly agentic. For more technical details & future plans, checkout the github! Full breakdown of tech stack is there. The old generate title, subtitle, topics then generate notes is abolished and combined into a single request. This makes note generation almost instant! 📋 New bottom bar that shows notebook actions, along with a editor mode (toggle between editing and viewing). File uploads Files uploaded are now indexed reliably. Images are also extracted from files, as mentioned before. Other changes Topics has been removed temporarily. Quiz no longer has topic options as well. Notebook is no longer accessible on mobile The tutorial was cut short. 😢 Things I couldn’t do: Having to focus on exams, I couldn’t finish Mesa AI before stardance ends. Here are a list of things I’ll work to complete the next hackclub event: Mobile support for Notebooks Notebook topics that are procedurally generated Add flashcards Freshen up UI (little unpolished here and there) Add a marking mode (AI marks papers for you) Collaboration & sharing notebooks Code the dashboard page (as a consolation i included a mockup of what it would have been) Making topics on the class page actually work 📹 Check out the demo video and screenshots! The chat window can now edit, delete and move notebook content ! ✍️ You can ask the chat to summarise blocks, turn into different formats or even create tables ⚡️ 📖 Basically a mini notion + notebookLM but with a study agent Use this with your sources and the web to supercharge research ! 🔬 I have plans to make the chat be able to create flashcards, quizzes and future tools directly from the chat window along with history, so there wont be a need to make those manually anymore ✨ Editor : Chat agent cursor shows which block it’s interacting with (the white bar on the left) ⌨️ Diff editor to see what the agent changed 📋 Tool approvals so you can choose whether to accept it or not! ✅ While Blocknote provides some helpers for the AI extension, since i’m not using it as intended, I had to patch up alot of the implementation myself 😭 Chat : Finally allowed images to be pasted or dragged into the chat window 🖼️ Added cool tool UI for notebook edits too 🎶 Check out the new demo!!!! 🎥 (sorry if its abit dizzying i was playing with the zooms a little too much) Honestly, I never imagined I would be capable enough to create something like this, starting just about 6 months ago. 🥲 Gimme a follow too if u wanna see more of this project and find out when its done ❤️"}, {"post_id": 35216, "ts": "2026-07-26T14:32:20Z", "hours": 11.23, "text": "Usage limits! Free models can still be used even when the limit is exhausted. 🔁 Limits reset every billing cycle, which is about 1 month from the same day. Built in mind to be extended with stripe in the future to be monetised. ❤️ This is a soft limit, so currently generating chats won’t stop halfway. 📋 Billing breakdown can be seen in the usage tab on account settings, will be extended in the future! Other than that, 🍝 The notebook chat API and main chat API were merged, fixing some of the spaghetti code building up. 📁 The main chat can now reference ALL files too! Back story This project is a continuation from flavourtown ( https://flavortown.hackclub.com/projects/10428 ), initially to help students use AI to make studying faster. A short summary for those unfamiliar: Mesa AI would create summary notes, quizzes and chats in a interface called notebooks. It’s meant to be similar to Notebook LM, but actually make notes and offer more exam accurate (subject-based instructions) notes & quizzes. Unfortunately, I couldn’t finish Mesa AI in time (took almost 100 hours!). In Stardance, I aim to complete this project’s ambitious plans, and finally ship it. Here are the things I intend to change or add: Complete all the unfinished pages Migrate to a fully custom RAG engine Move towards openrouter and Vercel AI gateway after that gemini outage which plagued Mesa AI in most of flavourtown Move from a read-only summary notes to notes which you can actually edit, and Mesa AI will edit them with you (agentic studying) . All those changes would need me to fundementally rewrite how Mesa AI was built, and make this journey on Stardance even more interesting. Mesa AI could also evolve to not just be a notetaker, but a researcher and an entire online tutor too. . First Devlog To start off this rewrite, I’ve already made the custom RAG engine, which replaces Google’s file search API (too slow, unreliable, and locks me into using a Google API key). All files are indexed automatically by a combination of Jina (PDF to markdown) and Mistral (PDF to markdown too), along with OpenAI’s embedding models. A 20-word summary is then generated with Gemma 4 such that search queries are more relevant without relying on file name alone. To test this, I made a barebones boilerplate to simulate a real chat. (See the image!) Sorry I don’t have more pictures! This devlog was mainly backend. In my testing, indexing (turning the file into embeddings and the summary) takes about 20s, with subsequent messages regarding that file taking about 5-8s (search and retrieval). Really pleased with the accuracy though! Sadly i forgot to install hackatime on my mac so a few hours were lost when i was working outside :("}]...

You can now create custom physics formulas :) ✨ Brand new animation when generating that unintentionally looks like siri (it’s kinda laggy though) Chat 🤖Claude now works ⚒️ New UI to visualise the model’s tool calls 👀 Seeing which queries and sources the model pulls information from is now easier than ever 🌐 Plans to implement this for web search Check out this amazing demo below 📹 (might be a lil blurry cause of the file limit)
Web search! Short devlog, but I added Perplexity Search as a tool to both standalone chat & notebook chat. 🔍 🐛 Took considerably longer cause I found some weird bug where thinking modes would become null on reload Check out the screenshot for the UI eyecandy! 🍭
Usage limits! Went over the 10hr limit 😭 🙈 In this update, messages now count towards a single usage limit. The default is 3000 credits, which is equivalent to 3 million tokens of Gemini 3 Flash. 💸 Limits are enforced at the API level, and the chat level. That’s right, ALL FILES. 🤓 Notebook chats are still limited to files only linked to the notebook. 📹 Check out the awesome demo & screenshot i forgot to include in the video. Chat generation kinda slow, just skip forward.
Agentic notes?!?! 👀 *i really need to post devlogs more often ;p) check out the demo first if you’re too lazy to read 🤓 Agent 🤖 : ⭐️ This is a crazy milestone, and I finally finished one of the biggest features i really wanted to bring to Mesa ai when i decided to continue it on stardance. 🥲 Gimme a follow too if u wanna see more of this project and find out when its done ❤️
Upload improvements File uploads are more stable, and status updates resume between reloads Users can see what stage their file is at on the indexing progress Allows for file statuses to still work even if the file selector dialog box is closed and reopened.
Image embeddings!! Forgot to install hackatime on a new editor so all the time i spent here on here was wasted 💔 Notebook improvements 🖼️ Images from files are extracted and saved 🖹 The model is presented with a list of images to choose from, and can embed them directly into the notebook. 🗲 Generating notes are now single-step . (show some love for me missing like almost 4-5 hours of work here)
Ships:
Finally, a ship!! 🚢 This project was really rushed, as my exams are coming, and I couldn’t finish much of it. Show some love and try the demo too!...

Also I have completed the Lumen Hack Club Tutorial for Minecraft shaders so from now on it is all my work, but all the work I have done so far is for learning and setting the foundation. I made a simple Minecraft shader using GLSL. It was a bit challenging at the start because I have never made anything related to shading. At the start my java libraries were messed up for Gradle which is a compiler so it took me like 2 hours just to fix that(those 2 hours were not tracked by hackatime). On top of that progress was quite slow since I was learning making at the same time. But what I’m proud of is I learned GLSL, and my shader works. It has a Fullbright built in. And it makes the game look semi realistic, not too fancy, but not over the top. If you want to try it out, download it from Modrinth, launch Minecraft, go to Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs, drag and drop the shader(.zip file) directly, and click on your shader from the list to enable it!. I have attached 2 pictures, one in the day, and one in the night showcasing Fullbright....

Devlogs:
so after ElenaOS i wanted to have an actual more professional site (cuz iykyk elenaOS is lowk unprofessional) and thus i came here to create the more professional version this website is only gonna have 3 tabs (i’ll add more if needed) and today i just set up the framework and chose a color theme (cuz aesthetics r rlly important trust) i also coded a nav bar and started formatting some other pages like the home page and stuff im having a bit of trouble getting github to deploy the fricking site so i can’t test until that gets fixed so for now ima just plan out the general layout and stuff bc i tend to have the most trouble with that anyways i really like this color theme!!
all right. so about the 3 sections… my git was having a lot of trouble deploying the page, so i decided to reduce it down to one page. this probably isnt wise, but i added all the css straight in the header of the html (i will change this someday) other than that, i pretty much finished, with a couple sections and custom css and stuff…i’ll prob spend a couple more minutes fixing formatting and stuff and yayy ima ship it and after this ship im going to add actual navigation and project demo carousels and lots of cool stuff
post-ship!! this ship got approved sm faster than the other one lmao today i added new pages, as well as a proper navigation system. rn the content is mostly larp, but i will add more authentic stuff as time goes on (there is alr quite a bit of stuff in there tho) but as of right now everything works!! (knock on wood) i reformatted the home page to be less crowded and moved a lot of the content to their respective pages – i also encountered a tiny bug with the nav but that got fixed pretty easily without me having to go to claude… im gonna fix the dropdown on the projects page tmr, i dont really like how it looks rn (lowk chopped) i also want to change a lot of the css (mostly font and stuff) and add more graphics bc rn it looks really dry and the colors rn are kinda clashing…
today i just mostly focused on adding more content, no graphics yet, but i hyperlinked a lot of stuff i also changed the css a bit and fixed the formatting of the dropdown on the projects page. honestly imo everything looks better now with this new font and the changed coloring of the nav bar (has sm more of a cozy vibe!!) help guys i genuinely don’t know what i can write for inspo without sounding cringe and stuff ToT
today i didn’t have much time to work on this, but i added some more inspos and stuff, and i also am trying to figure out how to add graphics the domain grant showed up, but im probs gonna save it for when the website is actually done to get a good domain and publish it the inspiration section is now very tuff and inspirational, im experimenting with graphics on the home page, so don’t mind if stuff looks off
today i added a card format for my devlog, now u click on an article and it expands for you to read instead of having like 10 articles literally smacked in your face. i also added more content and images, im still trying to figure out the css grid (forget wordpress, css may be my biggest op) but for now everything looks pretty good! i really still like the cozy vibe im considering adding a section but idt there would be any point cuz theres nothing else to yap about
yesterday and today i’ve been doing other things, so i haven’t gotten as much time to work on this i added a footer to my website with links to my external accounts and stuff, and i think i’m finally starting to get the hang of css!! i finally figured out the difference between margin and padding lmao i also changed my header a bit, renamed my home page and isolated it from the rest of the nav links so it looks more professional i think i’m very close to actually shipping the project, my goal for tomorrow is to just find images and add image credits to the site i do want an opinion tho, do you guys think i should add more images to the website?
today i optimized the site for mobile viewing and tinier screens. when i would make my screen smaller before, it would format awkwardly, so i decided to optimize it it runs fine on localhost rn but my github is like just lagging and not deploying i will add more graphics believe me guys and a favicon before i ship…looking forward to this!!
okay so forget the graphics i’m gonna ship it as is i added a favicon and some more content today!! and i think it’s finally time to ship!
Ships:
this is my very professional personal website! this is js the first draft, with some simple sections composed of text and images, as well as a custom CSS theme i also hyperlinked some text and added section breakers in the future i will add a proper navigation system and more graphics, etc., as well as a blog and information about the very amazing projects

The first, arguably most major addition, is that MDEZ++ has been added to Flathub, the Linux App Store for Flatpak apps! A Flatpak is a file format that allows you to run applications with universal compatibility between different Linux distributions, extreme security, rootless installation, space-efficient runtimes, and without endless dependencies. It isn’t like PyPI (the Python central repository of projects, installable with pip ), in the sense that every Flatpak application must be actually reviewed and accepted by human volunteers. Since I just got it added yesterday, don’t fret if it says the checks are failing! The two things it failed were business color schemes (for the Flathub website) and the summary length, neither of which impact the user in any way. You can view the Flathub listing here . An edit menu has also been added to MDEZ++! In this edit menu, users who are rusty on Markdown syntax are able to access actions that fill in Markdown syntax for them. If text is highlighted, it will apply the syntax to that text. Whereas, if no text is highlighted, it will apply blank Markdown syntax and move the cursor to the appropriate position for them to be able to instantaneously begin typing. And font point size settings have been added for the editor and renderer. It’s not much of a big thing, but it is definitely a big thing to troubleshoot right now. I am currently in the process of making MDEZ++ support multiple tabs, making it a TDI (Tabbed Document Interface), rather than an SDI (Single Document Interface). Everything is going well so far, aside from the fact that the font point size setting is magically just not working for the rendering pane. I checked, and it doesn’t have to do with an iteration of the tabs. Each and every tab is still having the code run to change the font size, and it is correctly finding the correct widget to run the code on—the same code that worked before. But it somehow just isn’t working. This is going to be a manhunt. I also made a Linux setup script (installer)! You can just run the following command on ANY Linux terminal to install Flathub (or compile it on your own, then install it). bash < ( curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/tyleruploads/mdez/refs/heads/main/setup.sh ) But users can also, sadly, uninstall MDEZ++ with the setup script. I also made it show more errors to the user, so they know what actually goes wrong! For example, instead of just silently returning the open file function whenever they upload a file in an incorrect format, it shows them why the file can’t be uploaded! The split-pane layout now is resizable! I have tried to do this in the past, but faced ridiculous styling issues that made me not pursue it earlier! Devlogs:
This is my first devlog for MDEZ++! MDEZ++ is a lightweight Markdown editor written in C++, while using the Qt Graphical Framework. This project has already thrown me right back into C++ again, like I was some time ago. Some features I plan to add in the future include saving to and opening files, GitHub GFM Markdown support (right now it is slightly more basic in terms of styling), and much more.
I just made the GitHub Actions workflow for MDEZ++! The workflow does 3 things that seem very simple. Here they are: Make the Linux binary Make the Windows binary Publish to GitHub releases It seems easy, right? While it really is NOT! I encountered so many numerous errors doing this! That is because what I am doing sits right at the intersection of many different extremely hard things to do, whether it be caused by the extremely large size of the Qt system, dynamic-linking that is unacceptable for users without Qt, and so many more things. The complexity of debugging this was further exacerbated by one mistake I kept making. I was amending to commits instead of making new ones during the most intense phase of debugging, and I was unaware that amending to commits does NOT update the code for GitHub Actions! My actions workflow is literally 105 lines long! 105 is not a mistype and is truly the length of the workflow. You can check it out here . I have like 50 tabs open of the Qt Documentation and am planning some exciting additions to the project!
I just added complete file opening and saving capabilities to MDEZ++! This actually wasn’t that hard of an addition, but it now turns MDEZ++ into a true Markdown editor (if you forget it doesn’t have a logo other than the automatically generated W logo by Qt).
I just added an all-new Help bar to MDEZ++, a lightweight Markdown editor written in C++ with the Qt framework. In the Help bar, the following sections are present: About MDEZ++: Shows an about page for MDEZ++ MDEZ++ License: Shows the full MDEZ++ MIT license Markdown Cheat Sheet: Shows the user a Markdown guide I made Keyboard Combinations: Shows the user keyboard combinations they can use in the app Report Issue: Opens a link for the user to open a GitHub Issue Check for Updates: Brings the user to the most recent GitHub Release
I just made some important changes to MDEZ++! The first of these changes is the most obvious for the user. I created a new status bar at the bottom of the screen! In the bar, it shows the version number, word count, and file path! The next change is that I updated the README file for better SEO. I thought to make this change after I tested searching for my project, and saw it dominates its name in Brave, but loses to a football player named María Méndez Fernández on Google. The final, smallest change, is that I put the README for MDEZ++ on its own GitHub pages site with Jekyll. I I just felt like it. It could also improve search indexing.
I just added some nice features to MDEZ++! These are very important features for a Markdown editor. The first feature, which is very obvious to any user, is the added ability to print the current document. If you are wondering, this is obviously to a physical printer. Not a 3D Printer. (I just had to make sure that distinction was made). The second feature, which is also obvious to any user, is the ability to export the current document to an HTML file, instead of just a Markdown file. I really don’t need to explain this much. The third feature is easier said than done. Previously, blockquotes had no special coloring. This is just because of the way Qt rendered the Markdown to HTML. I in no means have any experience in any sort of regexing. Here is the code I had to add to make this work. QString mdText = editor -> toPlainText (); QTextDocument tempDoc ; tempDoc . setMarkdown ( mdText ); QString rawHtml = tempDoc . toHtml (); QRegularExpression qtBlockquoteRegex ( "<p style= \" margin-top:[^;]+; margin-bottom:[^;]+; margin-left:40px; margin-right:40px; [^ \" ]* \" >(.*?)</p>" ); QString tableReplacement = "<table width= \" 100% \" cellpadding= \" 8 \" style= \" margin: 6px 0px; \" >" "<tr><td bgcolor= \" #f0f0f0 \" style= \" border-left: 4px solid #007acc; \" >" "<span style= \" color: #555555; \" > \\ 1</span>" "</td></tr>" "</table>" ; rawHtml . replace ( qtBlockquoteRegex , tableReplacement );
I can not believe how many features I have added in these six hours! These have been the six most productive hours in my entire life! First of all, MDEZ++ got an icon! I made it in Inkscape! It features “M+” with a little down arrow to the right of the plus sign as a nod to the original Markdown logo. WebAssembly (WASM) support has been added! I just made some major changes to MDEZ++ The most major change is obviously the additions of a settings menu. While making this settings menu, I also implemented autosave and end-of-line character replacement. Many big changes have recently been added to MDEZ++. Firstly, fun facts have been added. Finally, some errors were resolved in the WebAssembly (WASM) export.
I can not believe what has happened to MDEZ++ in these last almost 10 hours of development time! That’s not something I like to talk about a lot, even though I coded it....

yo so i basically built this object detection app called in-pic vision using yolov5 and flask, at first i tried making a desktop app with tkinter but mac was being super annoying with blank screens so i just scrapped that and turned it into a web server instead, now you can just drag and drop any photo under 5mb and it runs through the model in like a couple ms, highlights all the objects with colored boxes, counts them up in the sidebar, and i made the whole ui dark mode with a laser scan animation and added links to my github and stardance profile
Ships:
I built IN-PIC VISION, an interactive computer vision web app that detects objects in uploaded images using a YOLOv8 backend and visualizes the results with real-time bounding boxes, confidence tags, and detected object breakdowns. The most challenging part was the deployment pipeline. Getting PyTorch, OpenCV, and all native C/system libraries working cleanly in production without hitting container memory limits or broken system dependencies was tough. I ended up hosting the backend on my own server, supervising it with PM2, and exposing it securely using Cloudflare Tunnels to handle the public traffic and SSL. I’m proud of building a complete, responsive dark-mode UI from scratch and connecting it smoothly to an end-to-end inference pipeline that runs fast and works directly in the browser. To test it: Click “Try project” (or open the link), drag and drop or select any everyday image (cars, people, street scenes, bikes), and watch it scan and highlight all detected classes in real-time....

Made some changes to how the mod works Now the mod has two modes if you want instant return then you have to enable immediate_respawn game rule or else you will get the death screen telling you to return by death there are now sfx added to the mod ////Rant tell me why the hell does minecraft have 2 distinct playsound methods one in server and one in client??? only the client one playes the sound, the server one seemed to nothig and there is no java docs suggesting to use the one over the other and when to use what I spent 1 hour 30 mins trying to figure this out and then had to resort to asking in the fabric server for help luckly the community was extreamly helpfull and I fixed the issue as for the reason why its done this way: the server method is actually the main method but it does not play the sound for the sender, since its assuemed that the sender could be code or a thing that can’t hear sound the same method in serverlevel which you get by senderPlayer.level().playSound( @nullable except entity, source entity, SoundEvent, soundevent, SoundCategory soundCategory); calles two method, one for the sender since we know its the player ( this is a client method in LocalPlayer which extends the AbstractClientPlayer ) and the normal server method which runs for everyone except the sender this is all fine but tell me why is this not documented well now it is
Added a good Demo video to the Readme Rant (kinda) Turns out once I ship a project, devlogs after it are not recorded at all, even if they ask me to fix something. but the ship will show the second devlogs time to you only. TextFill is a tool created in Python where users can create shortcuts that will automatically fill in with replacement text. For example, if a user creates a shortcut /email , and sets the replacement text to [email protected] , then whenever they type /email, it will automatically fill in as long as the app is running and replacing. There are two versions of the app. One is the UI version, that supports both Windows and Mac. The second is a menu bar version that only supports Mac. The UI version contains the base functionality of adding, removing, and clearing shortcuts, while also including modifying shortcuts and a settings page. The menubar version contains only the base functionality, as well as a button to show all shortcuts. The menu bar version is basically a streamlined version, for users who are on Mac, and don’t care too much about the settings. The menubar version is recommended for ease of use, as it lives on the Mac menubar, and won’t interfere with any work. You can also easily toggle the replacer on and off. This tool is best for people who type certain things repeatedly. For example, if a person has to fill in a sheet with either Accepted or Declined, then that person can easily create shortcuts like /a and /d, so it makes their job much easier. The main QoL improvements are Making repetitive tasks shorter and more efficient A settings panel where users can easily modify their preferences depending on their usual tasks An automatic save/load system that makes sure users never lose their shortcuts There were many challenges I faced while creating this project. I was still pretty new to Python when I started this project, and only knew basic things, like conditions or statements. Luckily, I’ve been coding in Unity (C#) for a long time, so it set a base that allowed me to learn the simple things like functions pretty easily. Many challenges I faced were with the UI, as in Unity, it is fairly easy to create basic UI without any code, but in Python, I had to use Tkinter for everything. It became even more difficult with making the menubar version, though I was able to figure them all out. I’m personally proud of the menu bar version, because I think it’s perfect for people who just want the main functionality, and don’t want to be bothered by a seperate window. To test my project, you can go to my GitHub release page which contains downloads for both versions. My README contains detailed instructions on how to download and run the app. (Below is a screenshot of my menu bar version) Thank you.", "repo": "https://github.com/StarCoder369/TextFill", "demo": "https://github.com/StarCoder369/TextFill/releases"}]...

This is mostly because of me working on other projects, and also that there really wasn’t much to show. It was mostly just figuring out the syntax and bug fixing, so I decided to wait until I finished. This should be my last devlog before my ship, and I have added something which I think is a great improvement. Project Recap For those who don’t know my project, it’s called Text Fill, and it is a tool that I am making in Python, where you can define shortcuts and phrases, so when you type in the shortcut, it automatically replaces it with the phrase. For example, if you have set a shortcut to /email , and the phrase to [email protected] , when you type in /email anywhere with the program running in the background, it will automatically replace it with the phrase This is useful if you have to type a specific phrase very often. My Big Change ( I use a mac ) I had shown my project to my brother, and he liked the idea, but just randomly mentioned that it would be cool if it would show up on the menu bar, where things like the time and wifi are. I thought it would be cool and did some research, and realized that it was possible. I chose to use a package called Rumps, which allowed me to do this, and I basically made a completely new version of my app. Luckily, the old functionality code could be kept, I just had to change the UI. I also made this version much more simpler and streamlined you could say, mainly because I wasn’t able to add half of the functionality using Rumps(It’s probably possible, I just wasn’t able to), and it just didn’t feel right having something piled with unnecessary features in the menu bar. Two Versions So now, I have two versions of the app. One supports Windows + Mac, and has it’s own separate window. The second version is on the menu bar, and it’s much more streamlined, but also only for Mac. So I made both available on my Github page as a Github Release which you can try out using the demo link. Permissions Unfortunately, my project requires a lot of permissions that have to be manually enabled by the user, which makes the Quick Start, not very ‘Quick’. I tried to make the process simple, but I couldn’t really do anything since devices don’t just trust random apps. So it takes a few more minutes then it would have without permissions, but I made sure to include a detailed README so no one gets stuck. I’m going to ship my project probably by the end of the day, and hopefully it’ll get accepted. Thanks for reading until here! Belows a screenshot of how it looks in the menu bar!"}, {"post_id": 12062, "ts": "2026-06-19T17:48:55Z", "hours": 2.9614, "text": "Text Fill Devlog 2 (Made in Python) So it’s been a week since my last devlog since I was focusing on my main project, but I have made some good progress. For those who don’t know my project, it’s called Text Fill, and it is a tool that I am making in Python, where you can define shortcuts and phrases, so when you type in the shortcut, it automatically replaces it with the phrase. For example, if you have set a shortcut to /num , and the phrase to 123456789 , when you type in /num anywhere with the program running in the background, it will automatically replace it with 123456789 . This is useful if you have to type a specific phrase all the time like your email, so you can set a shortcut to /e or /email or anything else you want, to make it fill in the phrase. What I’ve added So since the last devlog, this is what I have added: UI for everything using Tkinter. Settings menu Now though this isn’t much, it took me a long time as I had to learn Python in the process. The UI is still quite basic and uses default colors, and I might make it look better later. The settings menu contains the following options: Backspace Delay Type Delay Delete Speed Type Speed More will be added in the future I decided not to make a website, as I felt like an app felt better. A demo will probably be coming in a week or two, and I would appreciate any suggestions or feedback. Below, there is a short video showing me using my tool. (It works everywhere, not only in a code editor, I just did it in the vscode since it was open)"}, {"post_id": 7767, "ts": "2026-06-12T23:52:39Z", "hours": 2.5881, "text": "Text Fill Made using Python I am making a text shortcut fill tool where users can set shortcuts which will automatically fill in when typed. This is for the Frictionless mission. Ex: user sets shortcut ‘/email’ with the value ‘ [email protected] ’. With this set, while the code is running in the background, if they type ‘/email’, then it will automatically fill in to ‘ [email protected] ’. Text Fill Made using Python I am making a text shortcut fill tool where users can set shortcuts which will automatically fill in when typed. This is for the Frictionless mission. Ex: user sets shortcut ‘/email’ with the value ‘ [email protected] ’. With this set, while the code is running in the background, if they type ‘/email’, then it will automatically fill in to ‘ [email protected] ’. Text Fill Devlog 2 (Made in Python) So it’s been a week since my last devlog since I was focusing on my main project, but I have made some good progress. (It works everywhere, not only in a code editor, I just did it in the vscode since it was open)
Text Fill Devlog 3 (Made in Python) It’s been more than a week since my last devlog. Belows a screenshot of how it looks in the menu bar!

I made a project called TextFill. (Below is a screenshot of my menu bar version) Thank you....
