All in all, I wouldn’t consider this time to be a total waste, as I have learned some valuable stuff. With these out of the way, I have been able to lower the error rate of my model drastically. Another thing I have done is change how the corruption function works. Previously, it would normalise the RGB colours to 0-1 by simply dividing by a factor. This caused the images to get darker, lowering my model’s performance. Hey there! I have been working on a Siamese network, and this is my first devlog. A Siamese network is a type of neural network akin to an advanced compression algorithm. It works by converting an image into an abstract list of numbers, known as an embedding. It teaches the network to make these abstract numbers as close as possible for corrupted and uncorrupted versions of the same image, and as different as possible for different images. At the moment, I have just been working on the corruption algorithm, which I have got working. Siamese Networks were some of the earliest neural networks applied to real problems, that of recognising handwritten digits for an ATM.
I have added an optimization function to my Siamese Network! For some information on these images, the difference error graph(the one on the right) is measuring the difference between the high-dimensional representations, or embeddings of different images. I want this graph to be as high as possible, meaning each image gets its own unique embedding. The graph on the left, however, measures the difference in embeddings between corrupted and uncorrupted versions of the *same * image. This should be as low as possible, meaning corrupted and uncorrupted versions of an image are converted into very similar embeddings. Unfortunately, it is struggling to make the embedding of different images distinct, shown through a very low difference. This may seem bad, but it is working EXACTLY AS EXPECTED. This causes the network to always spew the same output value, regardless of the input. In my network, this would show up as a very low similarity error and a very low difference. This is exactly what is shown in the image below. Therefore, I am on the right track!
I have been working on an improved optimization algorithm for my Siamese network. I have done this using a dot matrix. What this means is that I have taken the pairwise dot product between the embeddings of two images. These two images are either the corrupted and non-corrupted versions of the same image, or two different images. The two different images will be referred to as Set A, and the two same images will be referred to as Set B. Set A, the cosine similarity matrix(same image) in the image below, shows very promising results, matching up with what is hoped. A majority of the image is random noise, representing a low correlation between different parts of the embedding vector. This is intended because I want to maximize entropy, meaning it can store the most information in each part of the embedding vector. The main diagonal of Set A(the one going from the top left to the bottom right) shows a very high value. This means that the embedding vectors of the corrupted and non-corrupted versions of an image are very similar. Set B is very noisy, meaning that the embedding vectors of unrelated images are very dissimilar, exactly what I want. These results are very promising, allowing me to work on interesting uses of this model, which will be the focus of my next few devlogs.
I have made a couple of changes to the embedding of this network. Firstly, I have increased the embedding dimension from 16 to 128, allowing it to capture much more information about the image. I have added a couple of new files to my Github repo, allowing me to view the corrupted images, run the model already trained and have started work on a classifier based on my Siamese Network. Additionally, I realised what was causing my model to be terrible at predicting two similar images: I had accidentally weighted it to focus on different images at a 10x higher rate than similar images. Ok I’ll just use Bolt I guess. I set up a Bolt project and then realised that it doesn’t support Bun, the runtime I’m using… So now I’m considering just building it myself, using @slack /web-api and @slack /socket-mode. Or using Node with Bolt… And then I come across an old Bolt project, and uh… it’s using Bun? and it doesn’t work on my newly inited project?? idk slack is weird. future me problem. Time to start again…
AYY IT WORKS! Finally got the agentic AI B2B SaaS part to work!
Got status updates working! Currently just truncates the agent output to 50 characters but I have plans for it
Got the status updates with processing working! Openrouter Typescript SDK sucks.
It finally works! I’m also sending profile fields now so less data needs to be discovered by the agent. I now just have to do rate limiting, error handling, etc, etc that kinda stuff, and deploy it and I’ll be done!
Migrated over to Cursor SDK because I managed to get my OpenAI account deactivated. I think it’s turning out better actually, because I can use more models which seem to poke around the internet a lot more.
It’s almost finished! Just need to do some error handling and rate limiting and it’s done!
Error handling and rate limiting time… Also fixed some other bugs and deployed!

I made a Slack bot that generates far fetched explanations for the characters in your Slack ID! To test this you just go to the #why-is-my-slack-id channel and send any message and it should hopefully work....

Am currently building a prototype for the all actions menu, let’s see how this goes, will continue to develop now.
Ok, so after quite some time off I thought why not get back to hackclubbing and so I am continuing Gitindex, in the last commit I implemented an animation for the language diagram and adjusted some DOM-selectors so the extension doesn’t break. Honestly I am preparing for CWS release: implementing last features and polishing, bye
I added a new feature that makes the header sticky along with some polish
Today I’m working on implementing an iconset for the github filetree, I asked myself where the best place was to get a bunch of developer icons and decided to use the vscode ones, wrote a helper to extract the extension -> icon manifest and set up a quick css query to make the icons monochrome for light and dark mode, like the one below...

I made a web port of my AP CSA final project, Weird Little Dude Gets a Sandwich. This is a 2D platformer game that follows the story of Weird Little Dude (WLD), and their journey of escaping the Computer to get a Sandwich. There were many challenges for the web port. To start, I had to completely implement TeaVM support into my Gradle project, as I initially had no plans for HTML5. I spent around an hour (undocumented) figuring out libGDX documentation, HTML tags and basic JS that tbh, I should’ve known already. In addition, I had many bugs that existed in the desktop build that I swept under the rug but had to fix for a stable build, but all together I believe this turned out better than I imagined. Note: Mobile support is not implemented, and currently there are no plans to support mobile. The game should be played on a desktop computer for the best experience :D...

I’ve added a functional search box! You can type your query and choose a search engine (Google, Brave Search, DuckDuckGo).
I’ve implemented a time machine! well not really :), it’s just a way to browse past NASA images
I’ve implemented weather integration! the app now asks for your location and if you allow it, it grabs current weather information and displays it with an icon!
