I spent 2 hours fighting Tailwind for a personal site This project was made for the Hack Club Stardance Personal Site mission. I just built this site and i had LOTS of issues and all i wanted to do was add a favicon, bg-image, etc. After a few youtube tutorials, reading the mdn docs and w3 schools page and ESPECIALLY STACK OVERFLOW for 67 million times (not quite but), I finally got it. After tinkering with the look for a million times, i settled on a single round ish? pattern bg image and after considering a grid backgrounf for the millionth time, i just settled on that picture. The hero section also has a bg-image of an F1 car and i tried making pills in the ui using s, i found out that i can never make it shorter horizontally and i finally switched to a and now, everything finally work™!
Yo guys, I just added an f1 score tracker that says what position Max Verstappen got in the last race and his total championship points this season. But OpanF1 was a pain to configure damn cuz a race just ended and it doesn’t like queries at this time lol. Anyways, this is the final project with the f1 tracker
some great changes upcoming. stay tuned! :D
this is going to be the LAST devlog for this project. i have added a new page, LOTS of extra sections, and I have removed the F1 tracker section because ’twas givin me a headache ( i wasted 4 DAMN HOURS on that shi )
so I’ve read the user reviews and well, I’ve made some changes!

It was originally intended to be autonomous, but we wanted to focus more on the mechanical systems that were on the robot. I was in charge of designing and assembling the intake subsystem. It was very challenging to fit within the design constraints that we were provided but it was very rewarding once I saw my CAD come to life! This was my first time having something I designed online turn into something physical, so I was very surprised that when all my parts got shipped that it all came together nicely. I did this under a summer program in collaboration with Stardance called Definity Education Summer Camp and it was fun going through trial and error to see what worked and didn’t work. The hardest part was definitely having to make everything from scratch and not buying pre-made FTC or VEX parts, like getting our sheet metal manufactured was a risk in itself! But it was totally worth it.", "repo": "https://github.com/kwong09/definity-robot-project", "demo": ""}]...

using rubber glue to secure it. earlier, i was trying to make a 3d print to make it easier to cut the rubber strip so that it can be cut at an angle, allowing me to overlap the rubber without making the conveyor too thick. however, that didn’t end up working because the rubber was difficult to cut, so we just decided to glue one on top of the other. one issue we ran into was that on the overlapped portion, it would jam into the pulley for the shooter. this was eventually fixed by cutting the part of the rubber conveyor that was too thick and would hit the pulley! with the extra Devlogs:
we started brainstorming ideas for how our autonomous robot would look like and function. since our first goal is to just have a robot that can drive, we sketched out a drivebase and chassis. we also researched different materials, like motors, that we may need for the project. earlier, i used ai to develop a vision system on my computer to detect tennis balls.
as a team we worked on figuring out the cad for our robot. i worked on making the l-brackets using onshape. we took inspiration from the hammerhead gobilda robot that had the front two wheels on an axle which would help us when navigating the obstacles on the course. i learned how to use new features on onshape, like the sheet metal model and the flange to make bends on the model.
after we 3d printed more wheels and glued rubber to the pla, we got to assemble our first iteration of our robot!! we used a cardboard box temporarily, but it was very flimsy so the motors/wheels weren’t very secure. right now, we are using unidirectional ESCs so we will hopefully get bidirectional ones so our robot can go backwards. i used ai to work on a vision program so that the robot would slalom around the red cones using the raspberry pi and arducam. also, our aluminum parts finally came in so tomorrow we will get to put together more parts
we assembled all of our aluminum parts using rivets and tested our drive program. our wheels started to fall off because the 3d prints started to get looser on the motors, but we were able to successfully drive. although we only used our unidirectional ESCs, we were able to drive around by only going forward. the bearing pivot had issues as well, especially because when it rammed into cinderblocks it would get bent… but we were able to print containers for our electrical components (batteries, raspberry pi, arducam etc.). i was able to test my vision program to slalom around the cones, and it wasn’t exactly perfect but it was able to respond to obstacles.
earlier in the day, we switched out our ESCs so now our wheels can turn in both directions. we also tried flipping over the robot to see if that would allow for a greater chassis to wheel clearance. later, we brainstormed the next steps for our robot, especially the intake and shooter as well as the climb mechanism. i spent a lot of time creating geometry sketches for different ways we can shoot the tennis balls to fit within the size constraints. we ended up choosing to do a conveyor-like system and either magnets or a cascading system for climb.
i continued to work on the intake system, which we plan to do a roller and conveyor system to hold/intake the tennis balls. i found several components online and compiled them into a spreadsheet to check the costs. i ran into some issues, especially with figuring out how to pivot the entire conveyor while being able to secure the two plates so they move together.
today, my teammates and i first worked on getting the 3d printed center parts of our wheels to fit. the pneumatic wheels were really difficult to work with, especially because the prints weren’t fitting on perfectly (it took us like 1-2 hours). while the others worked on driving with the new wheels and drafting the climbing mechanism, i worked on designing our intake and shooter. i made a 3d model and a geometry sketch to figure out how the pivot would work and how our motors would be mounted. i eventually landed on this design that i will edit more tomorrow.
yesterday i worked on combining our intake system with a pivot. i realized that there was very little space between both motors, so i moved the pivot between where two motors are, where a shaft would be placed under the intake. however, in order to fit under the 8 inch limit, the pvc pipes would have to be smaller or the walls of the intake would have to be shorter. i also started putting other components into the CAD, including the bearings, pipes, and pulleys that might be on the robot. lastly, i tried to modify the bottom pan of the robot’s frame to allow for the intake to turn downwards at a more drastic angle.
i mostly researched different parts to purchase and further refined how the intake would work. to run the conveyor, one motor would power the first roller, then the rest would be connected by pulleys and belts. i also added a motor mount to the side plate of the intake. for the chassis itself, i extended the base plate and L-brackets so that it would be 15x15 inches, which was one of the constraints.
today, i worked on editing our parts that will be machined for our intake. instead of making it three pieces, we realized we could just bend one large piece of metal. for the motor mount, i added a way to allow it to tension so that when we add belts, we can adjust accordingly. i also ordered all the parts we need for the intake system, including the shafts, motor, bearings, etc. lastly, we also started planning out how our shooter would work, which we chose to do two flywheels at the end of the conveyor.
i worked on our shooter design, coming up with different ways to get the tennis balls into a bucket while fitting into our size constraints. especially with having a pivot on our intake, having the motors for the flywheels in the back would add too much weight, so i am still figuring out how to get that to work. i am testing out different orientations for the motors and flywheel, such as a dual horizontal flywheel shooter and a single flywheel shooter.
some of our parts for the intake arrived, so i was able to design more parts of our intake around it. i adjusted the rollers and came up with two different iterations, depending on the width of the rubber we will use to wrap around the rollers. i also measured the diameter of the hex shafts that arrived, which let me test printing out GT2 gears. i edited the gear by finding a part on McMaster-Carr and cutting out the hex shape and chopping off the extruded portion.
here’s an update on what the robot has been doing! i haven’t been working much on the driving part, so my teammates did a majority of figuring out how to navigate the course and how to drive. our robot was able to make it over the hill (but it flipped over if you watch the video lol). i am still working on the intake, but i have gotten further by printing out some pulleys and some shaft to bearing attachments we might use on the robot. tomorrow we will hopefully order sheet metal to hold our intake system. also, one of our prints turned into a blob
today i iterated more on the design of the intake. after printing the pulleys, we realized the belt was slipping and skipping teeth on the pulleys because we were using GT2 belts. we’re now pivoting to HTD-5M belts so we can hopefully not have any slipping happen on our intake. we also ordered more parts and added them to our purchase list!! when the sheet metal comes, we will be able to test the fit of bearings and other parts as well.
yesterday i worked on making the shaft collars and pulleys to print out. our pulley prints were not very successful, but the shaft collars turned out great. i downloaded a free shaft collar file from this link and i changed the size of the screw hole, the width, and i adjusted it so there were two flat ends (so we could use a screw and nut). my team also cut the shafts so we can start making our intake
on friday and today, i mounted the 3d prints to the shafts to start assembling the intake. i was struggling to attach a lot of these parts to the shafts because a layer of the prints kept on stopping the shaft from going all the way through. someone else had to hammer the parts onto the shafts in order for it to work :’) we’re still waiting on our metal part that will contain all of our intake parts, but we do have other components printed. our rollers were printed using TPU, and we also got our pulleys and shaft collars finished as well. we also have very very colorful filament now!!
i worked on assembling the intake, which was mostly the last part of the day today. we got our metal parts in the afternoon ish, so earlier in the day i was working on the guides to funnel the balls into the intake. i also continued refining the cad so now it looks like this!! the intake itself is working decently okay, i have to attach the motor tomorrow. one problem is that i have to wrap around the rubber onto the conveyor, otherwise there is no contact from the rollers on the conveyor to the tennis balls.
i had to take apart and reassemble the intake because the pulleys were on the wrong side… since the pulley on the motor shaft doesn’t fit over the set screw on the shaft, the final belt had to be on the opposite side, so i had to take everything apart :’) my teammate attached the shooter system onto the intake after i was done, so our robot is finally coming together!!
we finally got our intake and shooter to work! i mostly helped by tensioning the neoprene rubber strips and using rubber glue to secure it. earlier, i was trying to make a 3d print to make it easier to cut the rubber strip so that it can be cut at an angle, allowing me to overlap the rubber without making the conveyor too thick. however, that didn’t end up working because the rubber was difficult to cut, so we just decided to glue one on top of the other. one issue we ran into was that on the overlapped portion, it would jam into the pulley for the shooter. this was eventually fixed by cutting the part of the rubber conveyor that was too thick and would hit the pulley! with the extra scraps of rubber that i messed up on, i made a little dude with scissors
i finally have a good idea on how to slice for bambu printers!! i did a lot of 3d printing today, and i started by reprinting the side funnel walls . i also helped to make an attachment so that the limit switch would be pressed once the intake has pivoted past a certain point, to make sure it doesn’t touch the ground. it is definitely not the best solution but i was able to make it work with a bunch of tape and 3d print iterations !!
i just updated our limit switch arm because it ended up snapping!! i thickened the arm and i also included a filleted part to prevent it from snapping so easily. that’s it for today!!

Alongside a team of 2 other high schoolers, I helped to make a robot that can intake balls, shoot balls, and navigate across an obstacle course. But it was totally worth it....

Devlogs:
devlog #1 - let’s make an OS (sort of) ! building my own OS has been a dream of mine for a long, long time but i’ve never actually been able to make one before (because i know next to nothing about low-level programming). so imagine my reaction when i saw that i could get 50 stardust for making one? well, one small catch. it had to be a web-based OS. wait, is that really a catch though? its like a thousand times easier, and has just enough instant gratification for my short-form content-fried dopamine-addicted brain. so here we are. so far, tundra has a window and a status bar, and thats about it (also, the wallpaper is a photo i took down at the beach today !). i’m really looking forward to adding a ton more features to tundra in the future.
devlog #2 - windows i started working on the first iteration of caribou - tundra’s window manager (aka a window class and a list of open windows). so far, windows can be dragged around using some very janky freestyled code, and can also be closed (one of the can even be opened again !). it’s currently looking quite… webby , so next i’ll probably work on making it look a bit more personal (maybe a bit like my personal homepage??)
devlog #3 - windows (again!) windows and apps are now instanced and defined purely in their own classes in javascript instead of being predefined in HTML and shown / hidden. i know it’s not strictly part of the mission for WebOS 1 but it makes me feel a bit better about myself AND it’ll make things a whole lot easier for me down the line. since apps are instanced, i can have as many welcomes as i want !
devlog #4 - almost time to ship ! after much tedious work i added 2 other apps: a notes app that currently has a small TODO list and a changelog; and an image viewer that shows off a random image i’ve taken. i’ve also prettied the whole thing up a little bit by changing the font from [default] to Cozette, a nice cozy bitmap-ish font. finally, i added an app drawer so you can open all the (3) apps available in v0.1.0! i’m really looking forward to adding tons of new features and making it look super awesome!
devlog #5 - visual updates i decided i wanted to make tundra look a bit like serenityOS, so i modified the window header to include the distinctive red gradient. i also added a proper focusing system which required a decent rewrite of a portion of caribou (the wm). also, i worked on centralising the wm. previously, windows handled their own focusing and closing but since i’ve discovered customevents windows now request this behaviour from the wm. finally, windows now auto-focus when you open them!
devlog #6 - more taskbar stuff i decided that it’s probably a good idea to be able to see what apps you have open, so i implemented a little window list in the status bar. it’s pretty rudimentary - it just makes an element for each open window and updates any time a window is added or removed. eventually i’ll get around to adding window logos and context menus that let you close and minimise windows from the taskbar but that’s a bit advanced for the minute.
devlog #7 - now we’re getting somewhere! tundra is starting to take off! i’ve changed the look of the taskbar very slightly (there’s now more padding), and i’ve also revamped the appdrawer so that it looks cleaner (and more like SerenityOS). also, submenus! now the appdrawer can be more organised as I continue to add apps instead of turning into a wastebin of buttons. i deleted all of the original apps and have replaced them with (so far) an updated welcome/about (with wally, the derpy walrus who’s tundra’s new mascot), a proper changelog (eventually i’ll make it pull from github but for now it’s hardcoded), and a cube to test out threejs.
devlog #8 - too many changes! my devlogs from here on are going to be getting a lot longer now because i’m really settling into the grind, so i’m going to try out a more structured format. dialogs! i implemented a whole dialog box system into caribou (the window manager). so far it only has confirm (cancel/ok) style dialogs but it’s modular so i’ll be sure to add plenty more in the future. dialogs return promises that resolve with a value when an action happens (like when the dialog is closed), and this can then be used to execute code. this all came about because i wanted to add fullscreen mode but apparently browsers don’t like it when you request fullscreen without user interaction so here we are! changelog changes (?) the changelog, as promised, pulls directly from github to ensure you always get the most up-to-date changes with minimal effort on my end ! it uses marked and DOMPurify to parse the CHANGELOG.md from the repo and to make sure you are personally secure from anyone who’s dumb enough to waste their time trying to attack tundra. preparing for themes soon, i’ll work on adding themes to tundra so i decided i’d make it a bit easier for myself by making every single value that might want to be changed in css a variable. this was excruciatingly painful but we got through it in the end (it took like 10 minutes max). also, the background is now loaded dynamically through js which will lead to custom backgrounds at some point (much to the dismay of my browser’s performance) next steps improve the dialog system and add more dialog types add a filesystem (very scary) add more apps add theming and changeable backgrounds
devlog #9 - files! what’s an operating system if you can’t have files? so, i decided to write a basic filesystem for tundra. paired with a simple terminal and now tundra is actually kind of cool! the filesystem tundra uses a really simple filesystem model: there’s a File and a Directory class that both inherit from FSNode, Files have names and contents and Directories have names and children. tundra uses a traditional unix file layout (/home, /bin, /etc and so on) because its cool. the terminal i really wanted some way to navigate the filesystem but didn’t feel like implementing an entire file browser so I added a simple terminal. it has a few methods like writeln and readline which you can use. all the commands (including the shell!) are defined in their own classes, just like apps, which makes it really easy to add new ones. so far, i’ve added cd, ls, mkdir, touch, cat, and my own version of neofetch. next steps an actual file browser some more commands ANSI escape codes for colours a text editor to make files for the filesystem
devlog #10 - new apps after like a month-long hiatus i thought that i ought to add a few more apps - this is meant to be somewhat useful after all! calculator this is a really basic calculator app, basically when you press a button it adds its value (like 2 or + or . ) to an expression, and when you hit the = button it evaluates the expression with eval() . yes, i know its not the safest but it works. colo(u)r picker this one is also really simple: every time you press a key on your keyboard, a new random colour is generated and the rgb and hex values are shown in the bottom. need i say more? file explorer once again, this is really basic. all it does is gets the contents of the current directory (i had to make a new fs function to return each path’s type as well) and then makes a new element for each path with an icon corresponding to what it is. there’s also a back button if you need to… well.. go back next steps file opening from the file explorer text editor more functions in the calculator / better calculator
devlog #11 - ctrl+alt+delete this is a bit of a shorter devlog since I basically only added one thing - a functioning shutdown sequence! first a little dialog pops up asking if you’re sure, and then the whole screen goes black and says “shutting down…”, finally followed by an elite reference (Progressbar95 players rise up!)
devlog #12 - the end? (for now) this is going to be my last devlog before I ship tundra, i’m really proud of how far it’s come and the fact that i’ve actually managed to finish a project for once! I didn’t quite get to add everything I wanted but most of it is there text editor time! i added a real simple text editor that can save and load files from the “disk”. i don’t really have anything else to say about it rated D for dialogs in order for the text editor to work properly, I had to make save and open dialog boxes. these are basically an unholy frankenstein of the normal dialog box and the file browser app, and they work well enough object permanence using JSON and the world’s jankiest serialization/deserialization system I was able to save the user’s filesystem state to localStorage so that even of you reload or close the page, your precious writing will be preserved you’re getting the boot real operating systems don’t open straight to the desktop - theres a whole boot sequence that leads to this (and if you’re cool and use linux it’s all on display for you). inspired by @cooki ’s FPS-OS (go check it out it’s really cool) i added a boot screen that looks pretty alright I guess. visual imagery finally, I got around to adding icons for each app. they’re 16x16, made in aseprite over the course of about 10 minutes, and work just enough that I don’t need to redesign them constantly. next steps ship it!

I am currently building claude-counter, a Slack bot that tallies every time someone says “claude” and replies with their running count, because it has become an extremely common word in another Slack channel I’m part of and I thought it would be funny. It announces milestones like they’re religious events and keeps a leaderboard called the Vibe Coding Hall of Slop, plus /claude-counter-me for checking your rank and /claude-counter-sermon if you’re in need of a vibe coding proverb (written by claude, cause it’s funnier that way). Currently, I have the code written out, but am still not through the process of testing and deploying to nest.
The Slack bot is now up and running on Slack through Nest. One of the biggest challenges for this phase was just navigating and understanding how an SSH works. Since the last update it gained an actual leaderboard (aligned table, usernames, claude counts), a logo of the Claude asterisk wearing a slightly crooked halo, and I lost twenty minutes to Slack’s manifest editor over how to display usernames instead of user id’s.

Features a responsive UI with side-navigation, route guarding to prevent unauthenticated access, and a Theme Engine that transitions instantly between Dark and Light Mode.Backend: A Node.js & Express API server handling secure registration, authentication flows, and profile updates (like reactive live database password changes).Database: Hosted entirely on Supabase (PostgreSQL), storing user profiles and tracking real-time project generation logs.⚡ Key Features ShippedDynamic ZIP Generation: The backend doesn’t just store old static zip files. When a user inputs a name and clicks download, the server dynamically aggregates raw code templates, compresses them on-the-fly using binary archivers, and pipes the .zip stream straight back over HTTP.Code Preview Subsystem: Built an interactive visual editor UI that mimics VS Code. Users can click through code tabs (e.g., App.jsx, server.js) to inspect the boilerplate files before generating.Account Management & Caching Fix: Shipped a clean visual update to the account settings. Fixed a critical state persistence bug where newly registered users would fallback to placeholder metadata, ensuring emails and IDs map accurately from localStorage.Free-Tier Cloud Deployment: Frontend is live on Vercel, Backend is on Render, and Database is on Supabase.🧠 Technical Hurdles & Learnings1. Node.js Memory Stream PipelineInstead of saving files locally on the server disk first, zipping them, and deleting them (which is highly inefficient and risks disk bloat), I utilized Node.js Streams. By integrating archiver, the app pipes raw data buffers directly into the Express network response stream (res). The file is compressed directly inside RAM and pushed out instantly.2. The architecture is designed to support future features such as AI-assisted planning, intelligent task generation, team collaboration, and external integrations. How to test Create an account or log in. Access the dashboard. Create a new project. Add tasks and milestones. Track progress through the project workflow. Explore how DevLaunch helps organize the journey from idea to launch. DevLaunch is actively evolving and represents the foundation of a larger vision: making it easier for builders to create, manage, and launch meaningful products....

At the moment the game doesn’t really use them or display them.😅 It’s a work in progress so yeah. Quanta - these are the equivalent of trophies, they would determine the skill of the player. You gain then winning matches and also lose them losing matches. At the end of the match (or when the player is eliminated) the server transmits a packet in which is specified the amount of reals and quanta received by the player. At the moment the amount of currency a player has is stored in a txt file in the game directory for simplicity. Also I’m thinking of introducing a scale variable for text, like the UI elements are defined by the width and height of the window, but the font size of the text is it plain pixels, so I’m thinking of making the text scale based on how it looks at 1080p and if the resolution is lower or higher the font size will multiply with the scale that will be the players resolution height divided by 1080. Devlogs:
Test the server side movement functionality
I’ve implemented shooting and health in the game. Next I have to add a reload and ammo count. After that I could start to focus onto implementing some interpolation in the player and bullet’s movement to make it move at 144FPS not at the 30Hz tick rate of the server.
I’ve implemented a “fog of war” so the server only sends to the player the data about the other players that they can actually see. I made the camera follow the current player. The game now uses interpolation to smooth out the data packets coming from the server, so players can enjoy smoother gameplay. Also the tick rate was increased to 69Hz. The network packets are now dynamic, they do not have a fixed size, this saves network bandwidth. What I wanna do next: create some basic UI; create a basic game over screen; introduce new shapes as playable “characters”; maybe introduce a trophy system
Now users can resize the window and the game scales perfectly. There is now a main menu and a game over screen is in the works.
Added a title screen, lobby waiting screen and a game over screen
Introduced a new tech inspired design into the game. Now players that are in a “bush” get invisible. Made the game modular and added support for multiple maps on the server side. P.S.: In Hackatime I have 54 hours logged on this project, 8 more than Stardance logged, this discrepancy appeared 2-3 devlogs ago and I asked on the stardance-help chat about it, but I got no response.
Added support for new shapes and levels. Different shapes have different stats and some of them can be upgraded with a leveling up system. Also added a sine wave animation to a tile.
Implemented settings and a save file. Now whenever the user reopens the game it remembers their last used shape and map so they don’t have to reselect them. The settings UI is only partially made. P.S.: Hackatime shows the 2 linked project times to be 31hrs 55min and 35hrs 8 min respectively, but the total somehow is 57hrs 19 min.
Trying to get the settings menu to work. Firstly I made a general menu class, then I added to it a submenu vector, and I got it to work when I was only focused on getting the resolution to change. But then I tried to implement the frame rate setting and so the class had to be redesigned and now, let’s say it’s halfway there. PS: the total time across the 2 Hackatime projects (server and client) linked to this Stardance project is 71hrs.
Finally got the settings to work, but the user has to press Enter twice for the change to happen, but hey, it’s not a bug, it’s a feature. 😅 I’m getting ready to ship this first alpha version of Geomatrix. It has been such a journey managing UDP packet types, the server physics simulations, the client interpolation and the Raylib rendering pipeline. But at the end of the day, it was fun, and I learned a ton about client-server communication and the massive optimizations you can unlock when you find the right architectural abstractions.
Added Linux support!!!
Currently I’m focusing on UI refinement, currency introduction and “trophy” road implementation. I introduced to the game: Reals - the basic currency of the game (kinda like coins in any other game), you win them after a match and they can be used to buy shapes and upgrades. If it wasn’t obvious, the name comes from the set of real numbers. Imaginaries - they are the “premium” currency in the game which can be used to buy reals. After the UI layout is “done”, which hopefully will happen till the end of the week, I’m starting the development and training of the Predictive Coding AI model that will play my game as a bot. P.S.: I’m trying to make longer devlogs as that was suggested numerous times in the reviews of the first ship.
I designed kinda a rough sketch of how the icons for the game currencies could look like. The sine waves are drawn in Raylib and they are static, as well as the circle and the border. The “R” and “i” in the reals and imaginaries’ icon are font characters. Initially I thought about drawing everything, but then I saw a video about game optimization and that it’s very inefficient for the GPU to render small triangles, which eliminated the drawing in Raylib option, and also it would have been a hassle and a half. Each icon is drawn using their specific function, but I am thinking of combining them into one function in the future.
I’m starting the development of an Predictive Coding AI model that would play my game as a bot. I’ll make it in Python so I can learn a new language and as it is the standard language used in AI development. Currently I’m building a kind of “mega client” which acts as 10 client that connect to the server and it displays the whole map on the screen with all the players. After this I will link the Python project with the “Mega Client” through standard streams as ENet on Python isn’t really a modern supported thing and this will cut down network bandwidth and I think will decrease the CPU overhead while the model trains. When the link between the Python and C++ program is finished then I’ll start the development of the actual AI model, which will involve reading through some scientific papers on the topic. Right now I have 2 of them bookmarked, but you never know when something new may pop up.
These past days I am trying to figure out how to implement the IPC (inter process communication) between Python (where the AI model will be made) and the C++ “megaclient” that acts as 10 clients that connect to the game server. From what I’ve seen one of the easiest ways to implement it is through binary standard streams because I’ll have to move 14KB of data per frame, and because I will unlock the speed of the server physics simulation, it will be like thousands of frames per second, which will add up pretty fast. But the problem isn’t the actual size of data, but the latency, if I would just save it into a txt file my SSD will be hit with thousands of requests every second, so keeping everything in the RAM is why I chose to try and implement the IPC through binary standard streams. After a bit of a pause on this project because I wanted to clear my mind a little and do the Hackpad hardware project I returned and made the Game Over screen a bit nicer and so everything is beginning to tie together. I wrote Reals and Quanta so that new users will know what those icons mean. In addition I redesigned the map selection screen to show a preview of the map before selecting it. I am also thinking of adding an aim overview and the players just hold the arrow keys or move the right joystick on the controller.
I added the aiming line overlay to make it easier for players to see where they are aiming. It was actually a little bit of spaghetti code involved in the making of this as I use a function to draw the match and another function calculates the last point of the line and returns it but I made it work and it does so beautifully and reliably. I am thinking of maybe adding 1 or 2 more shapes and 1 or 2 new maps and I’d say the project is ready for another ship!
I added 2 new shapes that will fight for supremacy in the math world. They are the Astroid and the Reuleaux Triangle. The Astroid is more of a sniper with long range and lots of damage, but smaller ammo. The Reuleaux Triangle is more of a tank with a shorter range and smaller speed but tons of ammo and damage and also loads of health. Also I added 2 new maps, one is a team mode map and another is a PVE map in which each shape has to fight to be the only one standing at the end of the match.
Ships:
What did you make? What was challenging? What are you proud of? I made a multiplayer game where interesting geometrical shapes fight each other to dominate the world of maths called Geomatrix. It is built fully in C++ with ENet being used for the client-server communication over UDP and Raylib being used to display graphics on the client side. In Geomatrix different shapes have their own strengths and weaknesses and players have to leverage them in the best way possible so they can win. It was quite challenging getting the client to render and interpolate the packets sent from the server because without taking into account the time difference the players might overshoot, and because the projectiles didn’t have an id at the time, they would flicker in positions where they shouldn’t have been. I am very proud of my server and the client-server communication because were the most reliable and straightforward things during the development of this project, even though I firstly started to build the server, the collision simulation, aiming, map and shape changes were very intuitive which proved to be extremely reliable. This reliability of the server really did come in handy when debugging the numerous bugs of the client, but most of the bugs that I found in the client are now fixed, but if someone finds more, I wouldn’t be surprised and you can contact me and describe the issue. What should people know so they can test your project? To test the project follow these steps: Go to releases section of the GitHub repository. Download the Client and Server executables. Download the “maps” folder from the root directory of the repository. Place the Client and Server executables and the “maps” folder inside 1 directory. Start the Server and then the Client. For multiple clients just spin up new instances of the Client. It is only on Windows at the moment, but in a future update it will be cross platform, even on mobile.
What did you make? What was challenging? What are you proud of? I updated my multiplayer game where interesting geometrical shapes fight each other to dominate the world of maths called Geomatrix. It is built fully in C++ with ENet being used for the client-server communication over UDP and Raylib being used to display graphics on the client side. In Geomatrix different shapes have their own strengths and weaknesses and players have to leverage them in the best way possible so they can win. It was quite challenging trying to stay consistent and not get overwhelmed by the loads of things I could add to the game as my time is limited and I easily ended up in a rabbit-hole about AI models that could play my game, which I didn’t end up making. I am proud that even though I wouldn’t say this is the most sophisticated piece of software, I would say it’s pretty rudimentary compared to other games but I’ve come to expect reliability and modularity from it, which really came in handy when adding the maps and shapes. Even though there were some minor bugs here and there with the new maps and shapes at the beginning, it all ended up working with very small tweaks. For multiple clients just spin up new instances of the Client....

Tic Tac Toe — Entrance Screen I started building my tic-tac-toe game. I created a responsive screen with full-screen background, glass-style card, title and play button. Next: I will build the bot selection screen
Added a Bot Selection area to the game! Players can now choose different AI difficulty levels — from random moves to an unbeatable Minimax AI. Next up: making each bot smarter 🚀
🤖Easy Mode is now complete! The bot makes random moves, with win and draw detection working properly. Next up: Medium Mode — making the bot actually think. 🧠
Finished the Medium Level bot I manually built the bot’s decision making logic. It can now look for winning move, block opponents winning move, prioritize the center and corner and fallback to a random move when there is no better option. Next: Hard Level (Minimax)
Hard Level is finally completed I have upgraded the Tic-Tac-Toe AI from rule based decisions to Minimax. Instead of only looking at current board, the bot now stimulates possible future moves, considers how the player could respond, and chooses the move with the best possible outcome. **Next: Impossible Mode (Reinforcement Learning)
Completed the Impossible Level Finally finished the impossible level using Q-learning. The bot learns from thousands of games and uses the trained Q-table to decide its moves instead of following fixed rules. And with that, the Tic Tac Toe AI journey is complete. I started with simpler random moves and gradually moved to rule-based AI, Minimax and finally reinforcement learning. Now it’s time to upload the project.
I have changed my UI
Fixed a bug inside my impossible level Bug: My AI got stuck on “AI is thinking…” Cause: I used grid instead of grids .Therefore, JS threw a reference error that grid is not defined and this error was stopping the function. Fix: I have replaced grid with grids . Lesson: When something appears stuck or not working as intended then check browser console first.

I made HyprTools, an open source suite of tools made for the average Windows PC user, so they can get more done, in less time (Supports only windows 10/11) It contains a bunch of tools, including: One-click “Fix my PC Button” [SFC & DISM] PC Cache cleanser Wi-Fi Cache cleanser One-click “Update all apps and drivers” button Refresh Display Drivers PC stress test Startup app recommendations GUI for building and running terminal commands Folder organiser File converter Fast image editor Spotlight-search-style quick access bar Voice typing helper Image to text [OCR] Auto Typer Fast anywhere-on-screen color picker Web Apps Launcher Auto Clicker Image to ASCII art Webcam feed to ASCII art (you can use this in google meet, zoom, and while streaming!) Fake Windows update and error screen Each of them assists the user in some way WHAT WAS CHALLENGING? Well, a lot of stuff, firstly this app is made in tkinter, which is torture in itself but to make it look good, I needed ICONS, but that is so hard because then you need to download the icons, use Tk.Image and yk, actually place the icons in the final zip, which takes unnecessary space, eventually, I used EMOJIS TO ACCOMPLISH THIS, with the trade-off that now my code looks straight out of GPT-3 Also making the exes with pyinstaller is a hassle, you always forget smth small and have to change it all again. WHAT AM I PROUD OF? The thing I’m most proud of is HyprSearch. Its a spotlight seasrch like app and it is very impressive, I love how managed to handle the searching better than Windows search , because it dosen’t prioritise web search, and is really great when you need to locate something in a pinch. I spent a literal day in school, deciding how the fallback chain for a search string would be (I got punished for not paying attention in class, but WORTH IT). It is the largest tool outside of the launcher, and for good reason!, Also I think I did a good job with the GUI on this one. WHAT PREREQUISITES DO PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW BEFORE TESTING? Well, this suite is made for average windows users, who aren’t tech savvy, so almost all dependencies are bundled in the .zip file in releases. The only one you need to have is VLC Media Player, which most people have, and is only for the fake update screen. Devlogs:
Ok i have added the features: mouse wraparound, open Chris Titus Tools, Fix PC button and Reset WIFI button, will add more
These are the features i have decided: Repair & Cleanup Fix my PC ⟵ done Reinstall Windows ⟵ use systemreset.exe or shutdown /r /o into WinRE Clear Cache & Temp Files Clean Registry Keys ⟵ scour Win11Debloat GitHub for safe list + reg files !! Memory Manager !! ⟵ use psutil Deep Uninstall !! I shifted the architecture a little bit: tools that require to be GUIless and run in the background are now seperate .pyw files, so I have made edits to the wraparound feature and made it toggle on shortcut Ctrl (right) + Insert . I also added the fake error screen and it look really convincing! Other features i added include: update all apps, autoclicker, and the PC stress test (some of these were done before the previous devlog but I forgot to mention that). Sadly, my efforts on the Enable EU features and Reset PC are in vail so they may not be added.
As of now I have made the fake BSOD, VERY VERY CONVINCING. it has a counter that changes the percent text and it automatically locks your pc the moment it finishes, making it look like your pc just restarted. I am now working on the fake update screen
I added the fake update and actually autosave for ms office! thats it… byeee…. (image unrelated)
I added the image to ASCII feature (sample below) and its really nice! Consequentially I am also working on the ASCII camera feature but thats going rough….. Hope I dont die from caffiene overdose…. and now I shall continue to work on it.
Aaandd. I’m done with the ASCII Camera! Its really jank - you need to open the app, click start, the set the app as a window capture source in OBS, then turn on virtual camera, and then can you use the ASCII camera effect in your desired use case, its also fully local so very laggy, but this is the best I can do as pyvirtualcam refuses to work on my PC
So I am now working on the Pretend to Type autotyper (it needs a better name ik) and you don’t konow how much it escalated, just for some pretend typing, i made functions for calculating distance between keys on a keyboard, a function to do spelling mistakes/fat fingering on purpose, it detects the current window to strip chars like \t if the curent window is an IDE, AND I decided to put a hard deadline of the 31st of July. I’m so cooked. Also due to copyright, bureaucracy, my incompetence in writing production-ready code, and my refusal to use AI, the features: Desktop Pet, HyprSearch, and ffmpeg GUI will not come in HyprTools. I’m sorry :((( (image unrelated)
Finally I started working on this again, I am currently working on other features like the Game prioritize, and made ASCII camera more customised and performant! Not a lot of coding as I distributed my time between Candela Shaders and Hyprtools (image unrelated)
Its time i work on this again: Today I just spent some time making the terminal command generator, as of now, it supports 'shutdown', 'echo', 'cd', 'ping', 'mkdir', 'del', 'copy', 'ipconfig', 'dir', 'cls', 'tasklist', 'taskkill', 'netstat', 'systeminfo', 'whoami', 'tree', 'xcopy', 'timeout', 'start', 'attrib', commands, I should add more but this is it as of now! d=====( ̄▽ ̄*)b
YESS, vry usefule Today I made the Fileconverter, simple enough, as of now, it supports these filetypes cat_exts = { #cats such a cute shortform for 'category' ^owo^ ' image ' : [ ' jpg ' , ' jpeg ' , ' png ' , ' webp ' , ' bmp ' , ' gif ' , ' ico ' , ' tiff ' ], ' audio ' : [ ' mp3 ' , ' wav ' , ' flac ' , ' ogg ' , ' aac ' , ' m4a ' , ' wma ' ], ' video ' : [ ' mp4 ' , ' mkv ' , ' webm ' , ' avi ' , ' mov ' , ' flv ' , ' wmv ' ],} …and it just works, what can I say? baiiiiii
Pretend to type is now TypeGhost! Its a better name tbh, as for its features, you can set a typing speed, and % change for a spelling error, when the ‘ghost’ accidentally presses an adjacent key, hits backspace, and corrects itself. There are 3 modes: Boilerplate : For repetitive paragraphs, or statements Code : For code snippets, it ‘thinks’ for a while after opening brackets or hitting enter. It also strips off tab-spaces as IDEs usually autoindent. Essay : For well… essays and large paras of English text, pauses after full stop, excalamation mark, question mark to ‘think’ and also after paragraphs (newlines) baiii for today!
Today i made the backend for the voice typing ‘HyprVoice’ It just uses the python lib speech recognition so it wasnt that bad, but….. I spent SOOOOOOOOOOOO long debugging it because it couldn’t actually recognise….. and then I realised my microphone wire got pulled off. bye. (i feel ashamed) (The image is how I plan to make the GUI.)
Hyprtools - Web apps is complete, alongside voice typing! The HyprVoice was almost done yesterday, I just needed to add a Tkinter GUI. As for web apps, it was a completely finished app I made a while ago, so I just had to rebrand it a little with the courier font and - HyprTools in the titlebar. Thats it for the day! baiiiiiiiiii
HyprPicker is done! Its yet again, an I had built before, just had to do some improvements like giving it system tray functionality via pystray , and giving it toast messages and a nice hovering tooltip ( the screenshot ) so that it dosent just give no feedback that it is working. If you are wondering how it works, I just take a screenshot of the full screen, make a tkinter fullscreen window that forces focus, use mouse coords and PIL to get the color at a particular coord, and the entire actual GUI the user sees is just 2 toasts, one spawned at the mouse previewing color and hex code, and a toast showing that the hex code was copied to clipboard As of now, I’m making basic icons with PIL again, but I will surely replace them! baiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Did a BIG one today This is HyprPhotos, a basic, yet fast photo editor, crop images by just clicking on 2 points, rotate, sharpen, upscale, downscale and do so much more in a very short timespan! It just uses PIL s built in functions really, so it wasn’t hard to make the functioning for, and ik the UI looks bad ok baiiiiii
Bruh, Idk what i have been doing lately, I have been sick lately sooo….. I was unable to code or even talk about my other project at the stardance AMA with Jared Isaacman (yes I was invited) The only thing I’ve really been doing, is aimlessly just make functions for a HyprSearch that I decided to revive, so far features are: File search App search Web search + open URL Quick install apps (uses winget ) The current time for some reason Math solver Run command !bangs as a cooler way to search, does the above functions but quicker a single covalent bond (inside joke) btw this is a spotlight search clone baiiiiiii
After 2 hours, and 44 minutes, HyprSearch’s backend logic is READYYYYYY!!! This did NOT need to take this less time, but I will briefly go over what it can do: Solve mathematical expressions Run terminal commands Open apps and websites by just their name (not even a URL domain like .com is required!) Install from winget (bang only) Tell the current time (bang only) Perform a file search Fetch a Wikipedia summary (largely bang only) Search on a search engine of your choice Then, there are !bangs - short keywords to put before your query to do a specific thing and a specific thing only: Current list of bangs include: bangs = [ ' !open ' , ' !app ' , ' !web ' , ' !websearch ' , ' !file ' , ' !wiki ' , ' !time ' , ' !install ' , ' !math ' , ' !cmd ' , ] This is kinda a massive shortcut library, disguised as a search bar! baiiiiiiiiiiiiii
So I have started building the frontend for HyprSearch This is definitely the most largest hyprtool, as it needs the extra code for the titlebarless appearance, pystray integration, spawn on keyboard shortcut, settings, displaying of results, and the ROUNDED CORNERS (dont get me started, basically u need to chroma key out a specific color that is present on the edges of the screen Well, features: You can, via this tool, open websites with only name, search using search engine, fetch wiki summary, install apps, open apps, find files, tell the time, solve math, run commands from this little bar Each search can show multiple results in order of relevance, max five results, for example, searching “Minecraft” will pull up Open app: Minecraft, then open folder “.minecraft”, then open website “ minecraft.net “ then engine search “ minecraft “ Some basic keyboard shortcuts: Alt + Q for spawning the search bar, Esc for closing the search bar, Enter for well, yk (idk how to describe it), like entering the query? (also it automatically opens the top result), and Ctrl + <1 - 5 num row keys> for opening one of the results. It lives in ur system tray! (not a lot to say here) As of writing this devlog, I am just testing stuff, like UI jank, and stuff, ik the border is thick, I am working on it PS: IMPORTANT: im fucked. u see, i am using a python lib called AppOpener for opening apps, but it cannot detect UWP apps or apps in external drives, and I use a lot of UWP apps (yk, like minecraft) and apps on external drives, so I have to remake the entire app-opening part (also i am a responsible dev and i think abt other people’s setup while coding)
Okie Hyprsearch is done! It can: Open apps and websites only with name Run commands Solve math Install apps Search for files Search engine query Wikipedia summary bangs for quick results In a very MacOS-like package! I have also started the startup time booster, which will list out all apps in your startup apps that you may or may not need and take action accordingly baiiiiiiiii
YEAHH After quite the break, 1 hour, and 24 minutes, HyprOCR is ready! It just reads text from images (uses WindowsOCR engine in the background). There is not really anything special about it so well… baiiiiiiiiiii (image kinda unrelated)
Ok so I made the icons for Hyprtools and saved them, also for the tools that lived in the system tray, I replaced the temp icons with the actual thing, taking some help from my newly acquired github copilot for student! Also uhh, I forgot to down the icons as transparent images so i had to do that later. Lapse recording This is one of the icons, watch the timelapse for the full catalog!
Ok I kinda feel ashamed yeah but…. I used AI In my defense it was for a bulk, tedious task - converting all tool.py files to .exes, and then because pyinstaller hates me, delete them and redo it with slightly diff settings for like an hour, so I installed opencode and made the AI go through the suffering, not me, But GLM did a good job with only like 3 prompts so I don,t care, but all works now! Now the only thing left is the main app that handles all tools, and like gives user easy toggle to turn on/turn off/ use all these tools baiiiiiiiiiiiiiii (avengers assemble! ahh screenshot)
OH MY GOD I JUST SPENT 4 HOURS ON A LAUNCHER APP WTFFF
I just added a warning saying that you need vlc to use some tools. I need to add a log system. [image unrelated]
AAAAND ITS DONE the github is ready, I ahve committed all changes, you can download the releases, bugs fixed all done! Now i press ship! Hope it goes well
Ships:
WHAT DID I MAKE? Thanks for reviewing my project, I spent a lot of thime on this, and i hope you like it! baiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii...

Devlogs:
Hey guys, I have built “MiyarOS” which is a small open source hobby operating system for x86 that boots with GRUB and follows the Multiboot specification. The kernel is written in C and x86 Assembly, and it currently provides a text-mode boot experience with basic hardware setup, a keyboard-driven shell, VGA output, and serial debugging. This is only the start, I wanna scale this later into a fully fledged OS. Hope that day comes, truly.
MiyarOS v0.2(under progress) Core Infrastructure. This development cycle focused on building the core foundation of MiyarOS. The kernel now detects and parses the Multiboot memory map, implements a bitmap-based Physical Memory Manager with 4 KiB frame allocation, introduces a dynamic kernel heap (“kmalloc”/“kfree”), and enables paging with the first version of the Virtual Memory Manager for page mapping and unmapping.Memory protection has also been improved by marking kernel pages as read-only and leaving the null page unmapped to catch invalid pointer accesses. A dedicated page fault handler and centralized kernel panic system were added, providing detailed crash information for easier debugging. Finally, the shell was refactored to support command and argument parsing, creating a cleaner and more scalable foundation for future features.

The kernel is written in C and x86 Assembly, and it currently provides a text-mode boot experience with basic hardware setup, a keyboard-driven shell, VGA output, and serial debugging. The most challenging part was coding on a phone and on the browser no less. Debugging was hell, I got stuck on a triple fault error and it took 2-3 days(6-7 hours) work away from me. Also, There aren’t that many people creating an OS that you can ask any help from. I am very proud of what I’ve built and that I saw it through to the end, but this is only the start. People who want to test my project only have to read the readme.md file one time. I have created a makefile too which make the whole process a lot easier so be sure to read the readme.md file....

Figuring out what exactly to add to a project when I’m just learning about the tools is quite hard. It took me longer than I like to admit to come up with the seemingly random feature of just providing a random NWS alert.
Learning more about how Slack bots work as someone who’s worked on a Discord bot or few has been really interesting. Today I learned how to use blocks, buttons, modals and more. Making improvements to the random NWS alert command utilizing them makes me much more proud of it. (I also added a random bunny image command 🐇)
I’ve added a help command to Starslack, showing all available commands and what they do. Starslack also now has a channel on the Hack Club Slack.

How wobblyOS windows feel alive The goal of this system is not to “animate” windows with CSS transitions. It treats every window as a physical object with mass, velocity and momentum, then simulates that every frame. This makes movement feel weighted, reactive, and surprisingly satisfying. The spring Every window tracks two positions- where it is, and where it’s going: currentX += (targetX - currentX) * 0.18 That 0.18 is the spring stiffness. Rotation The window tilts based on how fast it’s moving horizontally: rotate = velocityX * 0.08 Drag it left and it leans left. Etc etc. Squash & stretch Animation principle, applied physically: stretchX = 1 + abs(velocityX) * 0.0015 stretchY = 1 - abs(velocityX) * 0.0008 Fast horizontal movement makes it wider and slightly shorter. Bounce A sine wave modulated by current velocity adds a subtle wobble while moving: bounce = sin(time * 0.015) * min(speed, 25) * 0.15 When still, it does nothing- moving, it oscillates. Open & close A second spring drives the scale when windows appear or disappear: velocity += (target - value) * stiffness value += velocity Open: spring launches from 0 with an initial velocity kick, overshoots 1, bounces back. I have only slept 6 hours (3:30 prev night and around 2 at evening) for the past 35+ hours. I am only one coffee deep rn. So lets talk about the bugs and all in a little detail. The latest bug I was facing was, I am using an paginate plugin in the backend mongoose aggregate paginate v2 so it doesn’t allow complex queries and stuff and there is a option countQuery which is to be set to the same aggregate used in aggregatePaginate, let me show you with the code const payments = await Payment.aggregatePaginate(paymentAggregate, { page, limit, countQuery: Payment.aggregate(pipeline) }); I had no idea this thing existed because the docs are not well properly documented for the plugin. First of all I was thinking why isn’t the search working my code is completely right, then I came to the conclusion with the help of AI also debugging with me ofc that aggregatePaginate is the problem then I found out that i can use countQuery. Also before this, the search in products table wasn’t working, as I am using a template underneath so I checked the implementation, nuqs package is used for searchParams and for the table I’m using Tanstack Table which also had search filter so I had to get the value from the tanstack table search filter instead of from nuqs which also took me a while to debug. Then before that bug, I had a bug where the table weren’t getting updated if actions were performed on the same page without refresh like delete or in client page create or update, so the issue was I was invalidating queris serverSide instead I had to invalidate clientSide. Also some minor backend things, invoice get route filters had email / name differently i combined them to one search. The index in products on sku + businessId was considering null as one so I added { unique: true, partialFilterExpression: { sku: { $type: 'string' }, }, } Also in frontend, the fetch wrappers I had were converting all the body into json, so i fixed that If formData is present send it as formData not json. Also I’m uploading files and sending the request via server actions in Nextjs, there was a default limit of 1mb so I added config for it in next.config.ts, it is a experimental config though. I think that is It, Just couple more hours of the project left then I will ship it."}, {"post_id": 84572, "ts": "2026-10-29T21:19:43Z", "hours": 8.7142, "text": "Devlog 11 So I added / edited Clients, Products, Invoices Pages Each one of them uses Tanstack Table, Query and Form It took my time to understand the structure and all. There is nothing to say as the time was taken by the coding part, the type errors I faced and all Invoice form was a little complex as I had to add a combobox with debounced search to add products and link to a client. In this devlog there is really nothing much to say as It was all trial and error as this tech is new to me."}, {"post_id": 83350, "ts": "2026-10-27T19:50:40Z", "hours": 5.5197, "text": "Devlog 11 So i fixed a bug in backend, zod url validation is strict and also requires the protocol https:// to be in the url but now I am using string with regex. For the NextJS part Sign In, Sign Up page fully done with Backend For Frontend (BFF) architecture. Improved fetch wrappers a bit. Also in login api route in nextjs the cookies weren’t getting transfered to the browser so fixed that as well. Added the home page (/businesses) also added the create business page + a success page with a Confetti canvas animation Added api routes in nextjs for fetching user businesses (get) and creating a user business (post). I’ve been working for almost 8 hours on this for two days, so tired rn goal is to finish this by tomorrow or I can say today as 1:20 am rn."}, {"post_id": 82950, "ts": "2026-10-26T11:05:45Z", "hours": 8.3317, "text": "Devlog - 10 So now that I’m continuing this project, I decided to use a admin dashboard template and adjust it according to my needs as the main thing I wanna show is my backend skills. So first of all I was using bun in the backend, I switched to pnpm (personal preference) Now I am using tsdown for building the express app. There was some issue in extended Request type so I fixed it. Also I was using a mongodb cluster free tier, now I am using a mongodb replica set on docker. Also the global rate limiter was applied on everything not just /api/v1 so fixed that. Also I renamed both the repos to something short -> Bms-Backend & Bms-Frontend. Lets talk about the frontend that is on NextJs. I am now using a template which includes a dashboard not fully complete for my need so I will be doing that, it had sentry, clerk and some other stuff, I removed that as It removed a cleanup script. Added the login form and attached it with the backend. I was previously using axios, but now I am using fetch and I am using a architecture called BFF (Backend for Frotend). So the client components call the nextjs backend and that backend calls the express Api whereas server component directly call the express Api so I created fetch wrappers for client calls and server calls. Added a logo for the app. Added proxy.ts and its logic"}, {"post_id": 81802, "ts": "2026-10-22T16:22:15Z", "hours": 4.79, "text": "Devlog 09 So, I combine two stardance projects (backend, frontend) into one (fullstack), at the time I thought I could ship both together but I had to have both repos connected in one project, I didn’t know at the time and I then abandoned the project and this project was the backend & I added the frontend repo to it so all the fronted devlogs are gone. In this devlog I will write the changes made to backend after the previous devlog + I will summarised what was done in the fronted so far and after this devlog, I will write the devlog as normal as you guys will catch up to speed. Backend (Express) In zod using z.number() or .date() were resulting in error if passed as a string as data would always get converted to string before reaching backend so i added z.coerce -> z.coerce.number() or .date Added github actions workflow to automatically pull changes and build with docker + fixed perms issue in Dockerfile. Added redirecting of / to /docs Frontend (NextJS) Auth Pages are done (Login, Signup, Forgot-Password, Reset-Password) with zod and react-hook-form validation Pages are made using shadcn ui components Home page is done with listing of business that user is a part of Sidebar, header, Create-business-form and BusinessCard, invoice table components are also commited"}, {"post_id": 14821, "ts": "2026-06-24T02:09:36Z", "hours": 12.4956, "text": "Devlog - 08 Since I was building a front end for this project and when designing the front end I didn’t had a route for getting all the businesses the logged in user is part of. So I added that route to show all the businesses on the home page of dashboard And also I have email, password login so I needed a route to verify the user who has used email password using a verification code sent on their email. Added Zod validation to the project
Bug Fixes, And Logic Polishing
Refactoring code and setup for tests
Devlog 4 - Backend Testing Marathon 🧪 Spent few days building out integration tests for my Express + TypeScript backend. Added test coverage for: User registration & login Refresh token flow Forgot/reset password Clients Products (including file uploads) Invoices & payments Workspace/business authorization Also set up: MongoDB Memory Server for isolated test databases Factories for generating users, businesses, invoices, products, etc. Mocks for Cloudinary, Resend, and bcrypt Ran into a pretty annoying EPIPE error while testing multipart file uploads. After a lot of debugging, I tracked it down to file stream handling in tests. Switching upload tests to use Buffers instead of fixture files made the suite stable again. Current stats: 39 tests 15 test files Full integration test suite passing ✅
Devlog - 05 After adding tests, I decided to dockerize the project. But i was using puppeteer and it causes some issues in docker so i changed it to puppeteer-core and add install commands for chromium separately in docker file. I made everything work after some brutal hours of debugging and fixing and learning as this is my first time working with docker
Devlog -6 Added a analytics endpoint and its time to end the backend project and move on to the frontend of the project. If issues come up designing the frontend, will have to comeback to fix it. Till then i have deployed it with docker on railway.com
Devlog - 07 Since its a Backend API so I needed to create a api endpoints docs to showcase the project to other people as some UI helps in showcasing I used scalar and openAPI docs for my project, It took me some time to understand what to do but I was finally able to do it And then during deployment I made an error of putting some dependencies into dev dependencies as they were prefixed with @ . Finally was able to get my docker deployment working
Devlog - 08 Since I was building a front end for this project and when designing the front end I didn’t had a route for getting all the businesses the logged in user is part of. So I added that route to show all the businesses on the home page of dashboard And also I have email, password login so I needed a route to verify the user who has used email password using a verification code sent on their email. So I updated the user model and added that route too. Next thing was I added those routes to my openApi docs and also I updated my readme.md and other mds in root docs/ folder. One more thing is left in this project is to have separate analytics routes for separate modules like clients analytics, products analytics then main dashboard analytics. I will make them once a get a jump on front end since I’m laking behind there
Devlog 09 So, I combine two stardance projects (backend, frontend) into one (fullstack), at the time I thought I could ship both together but I had to have both repos connected in one project, I didn’t know at the time and I then abandoned the project and this project was the backend & I added the frontend repo to it so all the fronted devlogs are gone. Added redirecting of / to /docs Frontend (NextJS) Auth Pages are done (Login, Signup, Forgot-Password, Reset-Password) with zod and react-hook-form validation Pages are made using shadcn ui components Home page is done with listing of business that user is a part of Sidebar, header, Create-business-form and BusinessCard, invoice table components are also commited
Devlog - 10 So now that I’m continuing this project, I decided to use a admin dashboard template and adjust it according to my needs as the main thing I wanna show is my backend skills. Added proxy.ts and its logic
Devlog 11 So i fixed a bug in backend, zod url validation is strict and also requires the protocol https:// to be in the url but now I am using string with regex. I’ve been working for almost 8 hours on this for two days, so tired rn goal is to finish this by tomorrow or I can say today as 1:20 am rn.
Devlog 11 So I added / edited Clients, Products, Invoices Pages Each one of them uses Tanstack Table, Query and Form It took my time to understand the structure and all. There is nothing to say as the time was taken by the coding part, the type errors I faced and all Invoice form was a little complex as I had to add a combobox with debounced search to add products and link to a client. In this devlog there is really nothing much to say as It was all trial and error as this tech is new to me.
Devlog 12 So I added the payments page and fixed a lot of bugs. I think that is It, Just couple more hours of the project left then I will ship it.
