Made a window, a wallpaper, and a top bar that displays the time Next up im going to work on adding apps, and hopefully later ill add a boot screen!
I added the first app. I created a framework for adding apps and you can drag them around, select them, double click to open them, and they open windows (and possivly do anything since it just calls a function)
I added webrings to my site, when i eventually finish it fully ill apply to join them!!
I added 2 new apps. An about me and a net neighbors section. I added a bunch of image buttons to my top bar, they show stuff about me, like pc gamer, cat owner, etc. I added a font for the windows. I have 3 net neighbors, which is so cool! I need to later make a button of my own and get a domain so i can join webrings and so I can finish my link section and allow people to link to me and have me as their net neighbor My 2 custom features not in the tutorial is that everytime you open playlist.bb it changes itās icon. the other one is that if you click a window it becomes the top window instead now, instead of needing to reopen it to be on top.
I fixed the webring app from spawning super high up to where you cant drag it. still an issue if the tab is like 100px tall, but like dont do that Also the domain after āfree buttonsā is really slow but it works for me I have also updated the readme to be better
I finally made a button! I added a robotx.txt and ai.txt to block web scrapers for LLMs I also applied to all the webrings i had previously, and added new webrings i found! Feel free to comment your website and iāll check it out, and maybe add you to my net neighbors Next I want to make a guest book (from scratch?) The new webrings i added were: hotline webring DS Ring DroidRing IndieRing Computering Webring HTML Energy Webring Webmaster Webring
I organized my webrings into joined and applied! I made a working clock based on arduino and DS1302 module. It can be called a demo version since I plan to work in further and as a demo version it of course was fairly simple though I stumbled upon wiring problem which was fixed by swapping faulty jumperwires...

Sushupti - Devlog 1 Well I went to my hackatime dashboard to see how much I worked each day in graphically format and there was no way to do so, stardance website helps in that but telling a linux user to open a url on browser to see some hours is stupidā¦. Thus I am working on Sushupti a GO-CLI program that provides u daily based data on ur hackatime stats and even makes u a graph which can be used to flex. I am still working on it API is setup, I get the data lwk fine what left is to make the output beautiful and lwk make a export as png/jpg option
SUSHUPTI : We came a long way chat First I was making something just to show graph on terminal then I made a png export with gos image library which lets u make a png to flex on ur friend Both dark and white mode too both are in the screenshot below AND NOW I AM MAKING A WHOLE TUI APP LIKE FULLY TUI BASED IT WILL BE CRAZY SCOPE CREEPED CREEPED ON ME LIKE WTF I realised I cant upload more then 1 png so its how the project looks u can go on github I have image of graph there ITS TORTURE TBH like TUI SHI IS SO HARD whatever here is what i made

Sushupti Devlog 5 Here are all the changes I did from last version/devlog added # for bar graph old one felt too perfect now these graphs animate into growth on startup now HEADER TITLE has this spinning line beside it on red color those are all the changes ā¦u may notice none of them are a real feature because once a wise man [steve jobs] said āDesign is how it works.ā
Sushupti Devlog 6 here are all the changes that I did from the previous devlog removed useless side bar and then change the sidebar with something attractive and somewhat helpful Ig and earlier i was thinking to add a short the of user but then this felt way better as i need daily data personally then my lifetime stats tbh then I added the mascot of this product hackcat idk why i call it thatā¦that space just felt empty and the hackcat felt right onto itā¦.i might add more animation to it but adding just these 10 idle frame killed me

Because the game engine is a 16-bit game engine, this means that we can only play sounds that are 16-bit. You can create your own sounds using the game engine, but you can also upload your own sounds. The program works by converting your sounds into a 16-bit audio that the game engine can render. Sprite Editor This part took foreverrrrr. Basically, instead of manually typing out sprites for your game, I wanted a editor where you could draw the sprites and then export them. This took forever because I didnāt know how to export your sprites into actual array code that would turn into a sprite. However, I was able to just reuse my code that render sprites from a list into the sprite editor and add functionality that would turn the blank spaces in the canvas into a ā.ā (blank space) and all the squares that are drawn into an āxā (the actual sprite pixels). I was also able to add saving and onion skinning. Whatās Next? Iāll be turning Olympus into a Python library so everyone can install it. Then, I will ship the project. Today, we are one giant step forward in finishing the game engine: tilemaps and animations. Tilemaps: The whole level is a grid of letters. I draw my maps as plain text: W is a wall, C is a coin, ā. āis empty space (These are just the examples that Iām using for the demos). So a level is literally a block of text I type out, like ASCII art of the room. The engine turns each letter into a tile. It walks the grid square by square, and for each letter it looks up a matching 8Ć8 picture and stamps it at that spot. A āWā becomes a wall tile, a ā. ādraw nothing. This is all easy on paper but when actually trying to create it, it was hell. The amount of bugs that would come wouldnāt stop and I actually was very close to giving up for the day. But, I persisted, and after over 20+ Google Tabs, I was able to work it out. Animations: Even though I thought this would be the hardest thing to implement, this one was the easiest feature to implement imo. Itās a flipbook of sprites. A walk animation is just a list of frames, the same little pixel sprites I already made. Flip through them fast and the legs look like theyāre moving. A timer controls the speed. If I swapped frames every single frame of the game (60 times a second) itād be a blur, so I count ticks and only switch to the next frame every few ticks. That one number tunes how fast the walk looks. When it reaches the last frame it loops back to the first, so it cycles forever. It only animates when it should. While you hold an arrow, I advance the frames so the hero walks. When you let go, I reset to the standing pose so he doesnāt moonwalk in place. Whatās Next? This engine is veryyy close to being finished! I just need to add sounds and this engine should be complete! After I finish the engine, I will ship the engine. See you next time! It didnāt help that I had no idea what I was doing, but it also didnāt help that I had many bugs. However, I was able to figure it out. I was able to do this by making each letter a tiny picture made of pixels and store all of the characters in a lookup table. Collisions: Collisions was easy when looking at it. Check of the walls or an object is colliding. if it is, do something. Otherwise, donāt let the player go into it. But boy, was it hard to implement. I spent a good 3 hours just trying to figure out how to do this. But, eventually, I figured it out. It works as the collisions check if two boxes overlap only if they overlap left-to-right AND up-and-down. If there is a gap, then they arenāt touching. You can see both the text and the collisions in effect in the little demo I made below. Whatās Next? Iām Designing A Space Shuttle Completely From Scratch This involved many steps Finding a picture that I could base the rocket off of Making countless sketches (28 right now to be exact) Extruding these sketches (this was one of the hardest parts since I needed everything perfect and it took 73 extrudes) Using multiple tools to smooth it out and add realistic dimensions (I used 18 fillets, 33 splits, 14 drafts, 1 chamfer and finally 1 shell) Iām Now Working On Adding More Details To The Fuel Tanks and Other Large Components
I Completed The First Side of The Rocket For My Shuttle I still need to do the other side so I will work on that next and then I will almost be completed this project!
Iāve Finally Designed The Back of My Space Shuttle. āā I was able to add very crucial details like: āā āā Angle on the RS-25 engines (Space Shuttle Engines) āā Added much more detail and realism to the OMS āā Engines (Smaller Steering Engines) āā Fixed the overall shape of the backside of the shuttle āā Added an RCS thruster port āā āā My Next Goal is to Finish off the Left Solid Rocket Booster, and Then Iām Going to add More Detail to the External Fuel Tank. āā āā If you have any suggestions on how to make the rocket better, feel free to send suggestions in the comments!
My Space Shuttle is Almost Done! ā My Estimate is That it Will be Done Tomorrow ā ā The main goals I have worked on since my last devlog are: ā Added the same realism on the left rocket as the right rocket. This included adding multiple realistic rings and other complex shapes. ā Added much more detail on the solid rocket boosters, like accurate connection points to the external tank. This was necessary so that the tank would actually connect to the rocket boosters when printing the rocket, and this also made the rocket look much more realistic. ā Smoothed out the bottom of the external tank to increase realism since before it was just a block. ā Moved up both solid rocket boosters since they were very low. I had to move them up since they were very wonky and moving them up made the overall image of the rocket much better and more accurate (You can see what it looked like before with the messed-up tank on the other devlogs). ā Added a black stripe to the wings of the rocket (Wasnāt too noticeable but after completing this edit the wings looked much cleaner). ā Hollowed out the bottom of both rocket boosters, since before it was just a block before. ā I also added subsections on the rocket boosters. This created subtle realism, and it made the boosters look less empty. ā ā What I still need to work on: ā I still need to add realism to the external tank since it currently looks empty. ā This whole build took way too long since i made many mistakes and errors during this whole process but I learned a lot and Iām very happy with the result! ā ā If you see my shipped project, feel free to check it out!
Editing My Space Shuttle ā ā I mostly worked on adding the smaller details on the external tank. ā I was able to smooth out some areas to add more realism and this made the rocket more clean. ā ā I also realized that the front of my rocket isnāt very realistic, and Iām going to try and fix it. Iām also planning on adding other details. ā ā Sadly, it seems like my project will take much longer than expected, but Iām willing to pour in more time to make this ship accurate. ā ā Iāll try to add much more detail over these past few days. ā ā I might also design a stand so you can display this rocket (You should be able to print it once I ship the project, and it should also support multicolor printing) Let me know if you want me to make a stand in the comments!
Still Working on My Space Shuttle. ā I was able to add much more detail to the external tank like realistic panels, vents, and intertank ribs (The stripe pattern on the external tank). ā ā I also moved up the external tank and rocket since they were very low. Iām also planning on designing a better nose for the shuttle. After I do that, Iām am going to be very close to being done but the nose will take a while.
Iām still working on my space shuttle! So Far, My Main Goal has been Editing The Front of My Shuttle Since it Was Lacking in Realism. This Includes: Smoothing down ruff corners Adding high detail to the front of the rocket (Havenāt done this yet, but I have enough experience from the previous design to edit this) Enlarging the base of the rocket to add more crucial detail Making the front shape of the rocket realistic (This is by far the hardest and most time-consuming part) Adding detail to the tip of the rocket and the window in the front of the rocket (I havenāt really started on this because it needs a lot of work) Adding realistic connections to the external tank (Right now itās just sitting on top) Once I complete these main goals, I will likely be done! (The rest of the rocket in this image is hidden) Feel Free To Share Suggestions About The Rocket In The Comments!
Almost done the front of my rocket! ā After 3 Hours, I Was Able To Troubleshoot Many Errors and Finally I Was Able to Make The Front Of My Rocket Much More Realistic. ā I was finally able to add: ā ā A realistic, smooth shape of the rocket that resulted in boosted realism ā A more round shape to the body of the rocket- Realistic features of the rocketās nose ā ā I also removed the sharp edges on the front of the rocket that ruined the rocketās overall image. ā My next goals: ā ā Working on the bottom of the rocket to add realistic color for AMS printing ā Smoothing out the transition between the body and the engines (Right now they are really messed up and look terrible) ā Adding realistic connections where the rocket attaches to the external tank (The tank is hidden in this image) I was able to make the rocket look so much more realistic (Look at my other devlogs to see the before and after) and Iām so happy about how it turned out so far! ā ā So far, I have made amazing progress on this ambitious project and I canāt wait to finish this off.
Iām Done The Front Of My Space Shuttle! ā This Has Taken A Lot Of Hours But I Am Happy With This Iteration ā ā I was able to add: ā ā Much More Realism To The Front Of The Rocket Like Realistic Colors ā Added Some More Small Components Onto The Front Of The Rocket ā Added The Flight Deck Window To The Rocket ā Added More Material To The Middle Of The Rocket To Make The Base More Curved And Realistic (This Took The Longest Since I needed To Smooth It Out Realistically And It Took Forever To Find The Solution To Round It Perfectly) ā ā What I Still Need To Work On: ā I Still Need To Add Realistic Angle To The OMS Pods ā I also āNeed To Attach The OMS Pods To The Rocket, Which Includes Reshaping Them To The Right Dimensions ā I Need To Move The Body Of The Rocket Further Down Into The Rocket Boosters Since Right Now There Is A Gap ā I Have To Smooth Out The Enclosure Surrounding The Main Engines ā I Will Try And Fix The Connection Point On The Rocket To The Main Tanks (They Are Hidden In This Image) ā ā ______________________________________ ā Iām Estimating This Will Take 9 Hours To Complete. If You Have Any Suggestions To Improve This Model, Feel Free To Share Them In The Comments!
Almost Done The Back Of My Rocket! I Canāt Believe How Close I Really Am From Completing This Project. This Is All I Need To Do Before I Am Done: A quick fix to the wings of the space shuttle (this will probably take 10 minutes and then I will be done with the back of my rocket! Connect the fuel tanks to the rest of the build (They are hidden in this picture) Possibly fix one area on the front of my rocket (This Is Optional But Would Make The Rocket Look Much Better) What I Did Since Last Devlog: I completely remade the vertical stabilizer (also called the tail fin) of the space shuttle Remade and angled the oms pods since they were completely wrong before Moved up the oms engine nozzles (The bell looking component on the rocket) Redesigned the RCS thruster ports (They are beside the OMS engine nozzles) If you have any improvements that i could make to the space shuttle, please mention them in the comments!
I Finished The Rocket Component Of My Space Shuttle ā This Was A Long And Hard Process But I was Finally Able To Complete The Rocket Component Of My Shuttle! ā This Is What I Have Done In The Past 6 Hours ā ā I fixed an error in the front of my rocket that made the front look less realistic (This took so long since I needed to fix an area with a curved shape. which is difficult to do) ā I remade the elevons of my rocket since they were unrealistic before ā I renamed my project from CAD to Space Shuttle for more clarity in what my project is ā ā What I Still Need To Do ā ā I still need to connect the rocket to the external tanks (They are hidden in this image) ā ā This Project Is So Close To Being Done! If You Have Any Suggestions To Make This Rocket Better, Please State Them In The Comments!
I Finished My Space Shuttle! ā This has taken me so many hours and Iām very happy with the result ā What I did in the past 4 hours: ā I started and completed the large support that connects the body of the shuttle to the external tanks. I had to cut into the external tank and I used multiple tools to add realism like the extrude tool. After that, I created cylinder supports that i then connected using the transform and extrude tools. ā I started and completed the small support that connected the nose of the shuttle to the external tanks. I had to use many transform tools to make the correct shape but eventually I shaped it correctly. ā I added a liquid oxygen fuel line to the large external tank and connected it to the system tunnel with many supports. I mostly used the extrude tool for this step. This took the most time to complete in the 4 hours since my last devlog. ā ā ____________________________________________________________________________ ā What My Space Shuttle Includes ā ā Realistic external tanks ā Realistic rings surrounding the solid rocket boosters Realistic rocket booster shape Small realistic features like an access door and forward booster separation modules Realistic supports that carry the rocket Realistic external tank Realistic LO2 feedline and LO2 feedline fairing Realistic stringers Realistic ring frames ā A realistic rocket ā Realistic wings Realistic nose with small features like the cockpit window and star tracker doors Realistic vertical stabilizer Realistic body shape Realistic Aft fuselage, which includes the space shuttleās main engines and also includes the orbital maneuvering system and the RCS thrusters ā ā Thanks for the support on this project! I will likely do a space station for my next project. ā I will probably ship this project tomorrow, and then it should be available for printing! I tried to design the shuttle for multicolor printing so you should be able to choose multiple colors. There should be a total of 3 different colors since I wanted to limit the amount of filament colors for printing. ā If you still have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments!

The regex tester is straightforward, take a pattern, take a text, run re.findall(), wrapped in a try/except to catch re.error for bad patterns instead of crashing. Nothing fancy but itās the kind of utility that earns its keep. Lorem ipsum generator was a chance to use random.choices() properly, a fixed word bank, pick k words at random with replacement, join with spaces. Simple, but itās the first tool that leans on random instead of secrets. Process killer is the one Iām happiest with. It pulls every running process via psutil.process_iter(), sorts by memory usage, and prints a clean top-30 table. A second function, kill_process(), takes a process name, loops through and terminates matches, with try/except for NoSuchProcess and AccessDenied so it doesnāt blow up on protected system processes. Eventually want a GUI version of this with a red kill button next to the list, but thatās a later project, not blocking this one. The bigger change: split the single utilities.py into proper modules. utilities.py now holds system/image/QR/password/unit-convert/process tools, security.py has hashing, password checking, encryption, vuln scanning, and firewall checks, network.py has the network tools, and text_tools.py has base64, JSON, case conversion, regex, and lorem ipsum. main.py got restructured into category submenus (System, Utilities, Security, Network, Text & Data) instead of one flat list. Same pattern as the encryption tool, encode() on the way in and decode() on the way out. The JSON formatter took a bit more. It reads a file path from the user, opens it, parses the JSON, and prints it back with 4-space indentation. The important part was wrapping the whole thing in a try/except ā if the file doesnāt exist or the JSON is malformed it gives a clear error message instead of crashing. Something Iāve been doing more naturally now without thinking about it. Text case converter was probably the most fun. UPPER and lower are trivial, Title Case is one method call, but camelCase and snake_case required actually thinking through the logic, split by spaces, transform each word, join with different separators. I had to wrap it in try/except because if the port is closed, the connection throws an exception and crashes everything. I learned that the hard way. Building the IP scanner was the most satisfying part. It grabs your local IP and removes the last number to get the network prefix. Then, it pings every address from 1 to 255. The first version printed the full ping output for every single address, resulting in 255 walls of text. I fixed this by switching from os.system to os.popen, which allowed me to capture the output and show only the IPs that actually replied. I ran it on my network and discovered 5 devices. I recently fixed my contact me section of my website. Also, previously I had some security feature for my website so that my personal details donāt get leaked. I completely removed that and I made it public.
I spent some more time upgrading the site and built a new page called the āLoungeā to showcase my watch history, favorite sci-fi movies, anime, and music. First, I made an interactive card grid. When you hover or click a card, it flips to show ratings, tags, and reviews. The anime cards fetch live details from the MyAnimeList (Jikan) API dynamically. Jikan has strict rate limits (429 errors) which sometimes broke the page load, so I increased the fetch delay to 1000ms to keep it stable. To make editing the watchlist easy, I built a hidden Curator Console. Pressing a secret shortcut ( Ctrl+Shift+K ) opens a passcode prompt verified with a client-side SHA-256 hash. Once unlocked, the console lets me add or delete items directly on the page. I also wanted to publish these changes instantly so I set up a secure client-side sync pipeline. My GitHub token is stored as an encrypted string. When I enter the correct passcode in the prompt, it decrypts the token in memory and uses the GitHub REST API to push commits directly to my main branch. This triggers a fresh build automatically, without exposing any tokens in the source code. I also added music later in the list and connected the cards with yt music .
I made some fixes in the code which was causing misalignment of text under cards in the launge page.
Rewrote the CSS code after knowing the underlying logic behind it. Removed the spherical planet artifact from the layout and also reduced the CSS for reducing the loading interval

Another big milestone for Dewen: It officially has a desktop application now! Now you donāt have to use the website often and instead you can use the desktop application. It uses Tauri to help with wrapping the app in a desktop layer to help make it a legitimate desktop app. A quick heads up for macOS users: because this is an independent, open-source application bundle, macOS may display a warning stating the app is ādamagedā on your first launch. How it works is you toggle AI in the settings if you want it on or off, then it uses Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) meaning you can insert your API key into the app. Then thereās a button in the sidebar with shapes. Click on that, type in your prompt, and Dewen will do the rest. First off, I finally managed to convert Dewen to IndexedDB, one of my long-term goals for the app. LocalStorage was starting to become limiting, and I wanted something more scalable while still keeping Dewen local-first. Thatās why I went with IndexedDB. I set up DewenDB in storage.ts, added helper functions in main.ts to save tasks, notes, and activities, and made sure everything loads when the app starts. Now, I want to take a moment to look at how far weāve come. Dewen started back in December 2025 as a simple to-do list. From there, it evolved into a productivity hub, then a productivity workspace, and now an actual application. The task list, focus timer, quick notes, calendar, activity panel, command bar, and everything else have come a long way from that original task list. Building Dewen, and participating in the Stardance Challenge, has taught me much more than just how to code. It has taught me how to take an idea and turn it into a real application that people can actually use. Now that the Stardance Challenge is wrapping up, Iām going to be shifting some of my time toward other projects while continuing to work on Dewen. First, Dewen is my submission for the 2026 Congressional App Challenge, representing Pennsylvaniaās 15th District, so thatās something Iām excited to focus on. I also have several other projects I want to work on alongside Dewen: AuditionLM, an AI benchmark ranking and evaluation app; Local In A Box, or LIAB, a CLI tool for integrating and managing local-first architecture in applications; and Pocket Lab, a portable experimentation device for conducting experiments and exploring science. Stardance may be coming to an end, but Dewen never will. Thank you for following along, supporting the project, and watching it grow."}, {"post_id": 53471, "ts": "2026-08-24T01:15:39Z", "hours": 1.5208, "text": "To improve the customization of Dewen, I thought it would be nice to add theme presets to make choosing a theme faster and more approachable. For example, the focus timer reads 21:57, and you accidentally reload the site. Itāll still have 21:57 and continue going from there! I hope these new features improve the user experience of Dewen, and I want to continue improving them and the core experience of the app. Thanks for reading, and have a great day!"}, {"post_id": 53244, "ts": "2026-08-23T18:05:59Z", "hours": 8.0639, "text": "This week I continued to update Dewen with more polish and power to make it easier for people to use my app. These updates focus on overall experience, faster workflows, and turning Dewen into a more complete workspace. To learn more about them, type :h in the command bar. new mini analytics: I changed two of the empty cards to contain Upcoming Tasks that are getting close to their due date, and Stale Tasks that havenāt been touched in a while. I hope that these new changes improve the user experience for Dewen, as this is turning into much more than a simple task list. Devlogs:
Energy Gauge
Fixed a calendar and decrastinator bug
Currently working on leveling up the mini analytics (the cards you see under the āGood morningā message) to display useful information. Stay tuned!
Have any feature ideas for Dewen? Would be happy to help develop them!
This isnāt really a devlog, but rather a heads up about something: Hackatime and Stardance are saying that Iāve worked on this for a few hours. Thatās incorrect. Iāve been working on this project since December and January. Iāve used AI to help me with some of the project, but this is in no way a āvibe codedā app. Iāve included a screenshot of my oldest Git commit history for the project to set the record straight. Thanks for the feedback, and I will continue working on improving this web app!
New UI changes so far (removed topbar and updated sidebar a little)
Part 1 of redesigning mini analytics: making a risk report featuring overdue tasks, tasks due today, and blocked tasks
Currently trying to convert from Vanilla JS to TypeScript and eventually a framework like React. Fingers crossed! š¤
I have officially converted from main.js to main.ts, meaning everything is in TypeScript. Now to make everything modularā¦š¤
Man, after using a single Vanilla JS file to develop Dewen, I realized I needed a better structure to help scale the project further. But I really underestimated how challenging it was going to be, especially since I donāt know React, meaning I have to learn it. So wish me luck, I guess.
Added offline support to my website, so no matter where you are, youāre able to access my web app! š
Added another customization option where you can customize the accent color š (also updated mini analytics a little)
Removed two mini analytics and added an animation for expanding and collapsing them
Added avatars and profile picture customization. Add your own image to serve as your avatar, look at presets for avatars based on hobbies and careers, and toggle if you want the accent on it on or off! š
Before this devlog, the search/command bar used to only do :a <task description> . To make it easier to use Dewen with the keyboard without navigating the app so much, I decided to add more commands to the command bar. New commands include: :n <note content> | creates a note :c <task> | completes a task :d <task> | deletes a task :f <duration> <task> | starts a focus session (e.g. :f 25, take out the trash ) I hope these types of commands make it easier to use my app, especially for keyboard-native users. Iām also planning to implement more command bar commands as I continue improving the app. Thank you!
I wanted to make it so that Dewen could be more discoverable rather than just requiring people to āclick a direct linkā, so I utilized the Netlify Sitemap plugin and Google Search Console to make that happen! This is a pretty cool milestone for Dewen, as it shows that it isnāt just another website project. Now I want to continue improving its SEO and discoverability so that eventaully, you can type in ādewen appā and itāll show up. Thank you for reading!
This week I continued to update Dewen with more polish and power to make it easier for people to use my app. These updates focus on overall experience, faster workflows, and turning Dewen into a more complete workspace. Features include: better responsiveness: To make the experience better for mobile and tablet users, I decided to improve the responsiveness of the app to transition to different layouts easily. more commands: To help keyboard users control their workflow more efficiently, I added new commands like editing tasks and notes, controlling the timer, prioritizing tasks, and more. Thank you for reading, and have a great day!
To improve the customization of Dewen, I thought it would be nice to add theme presets to make choosing a theme faster and more approachable. Themes include default, ocean, forest, sunset, rose, midnight, terminal, and slate. Another thing I added was localStoraging the focus timer state. For example, the focus timer reads 21:57, and you accidentally reload the site. Itāll still have 21:57 and continue going from there! I hope these new features improve the user experience of Dewen, and I want to continue improving them and the core experience of the app. Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
Well, this is probably going to be my last devlog for the Stardance Challenge, so letās make it count. Thank you for following along, supporting the project, and watching it grow.
I know Iām contradicting what I said before, that I was done with Stardance, but I thought this was something cool to talk about. Well, I have agents in Dewen now! Integrating AI into Dewen has been one of my top goals since the start. Now itās actually a reality, and I feel absolute pride in accomplishing this. How it works is you toggle AI in the settings if you want it on or off, then it uses Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) meaning you can insert your API key into the app. Then thereās a button in the sidebar with shapes. Click on that, type in your prompt, and Dewen will do the rest. This is powered by my Python backend, hosted on Render and UptimeRobot opens it every five minutes to prevent it from taking 50 seconds to load the AI. I hope you enjoy using AI in Dewen, and have a great rest of your day!
I have added a second agent: the Researcher Agent! To make it work, you need to have a Tavily API key and insert it into the settings. Then you can type what you want and it creates a quick note containing what it researched. Alongside that, I also added agent selection where you can choose which agent you want to use. This prevents weird things from happening if you instruct the wrong agent. I hope you have a great rest of your day! Try out the Researcher Agent now! (if you want to š)
Now that Stardance is happening for another month, Iām able to do more devlogs, so kudos to everyone for making it happen. You can learn how to do it correctly in the README on the GitHub repo page. Dewen is currently available for macOS, but I hope to expand it to Windows and Linux as well. Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a great day!
This isnāt really a devlog, but I thought I might just post about it. My app, after not having an identity for so long, finally has its own logo. I feel extremely glad about the logo being over and done with and the colors in the logo as well. I want to give credit to @Jcleo2 for creating the geometry for the logo, which I then refined and added my own colors. So thank you @Jcleo2 . Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
Last devlog: I decided to add multilingual support to make Dewen more accessible to people around the world. It supports languages like Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and more. Feel free to try it out if youād like š
Nothing to worry about here, just making a mobile version of Dewen for the Apple Swift Student Challenge
Ships:
This is my task and project management web app called Dewen, which is meant to be completely subscription-free, AI-optional, and local-first while delivering useful productivity tools. What was definitely challenging was the search and command bar, where I had to rely on AI tools to help me build it. What Iām proud of is how the tools sync with each other. When you add a task, it renders on the calendar, and when you start a focus session, the activity panel logs the action. Finally, users should know that it takes barely any steps to get started, since there are no accounts.
New Dewen version! Includes: removed topbar and updated sidebar accent color customization animation for collapsing and expanding mini analytics made what to focus on an analytic necessary bug fixes There will be more to come. Thanks for supporting me on this journey!
Features Added IndexedDB integration Avatars and more customization options More command bar commands SEO improvements so Dewen can appear in Google search results Two new mini analytics: Upcoming Tasks and Stale Tasks Better responsiveness across devices What was challenging? Probably the IndexedDB integration. It meant moving from a simple storage method to a full database. I had to learn how to create object stores, save data to them, and load that data when the app starts. What am I proud of? The IndexedDB integration and the increased customization. Adding IndexedDB makes Dewen feel much more like a real application than just a project, while features like avatars and theme presets make it much easier for users to personalize their experience. Whatās next? Now that the Stardance Challenge is about to wrap up, Iām going to pivot some of my time toward other things, including the Congressional App Challenge and my other projects: AuditionLM, LIAB, and Pocket Lab, while also continue development on Dewen. Thank you for supporting me throughout this challenge and following along as Dewen grew.
Last major ship for Dewen: agents with a Bring Your Own Key structure a desktop app for macOS multilingual support and a new logo (credit to @Jcleo2 for the logo geometry) Feel free to try out the new stuff if youād like. https://dewen.netlify.app...
