Yeah anyways, I don’t have much progress to share today… BUT! I still have lots of things to talk about as for the future of this project! Where have I been? I was busy getting my home pc to be remote accessible from school, so I can work on this project even more! This took a while, but it’s finally done. That’s why there wasn’t much progress yesterday, things should speed up from now on. What did I even do? Glad you asked! I worked a lot on the graphics this time around, made a banner for the project as you can tell, made a semi-finished readme.md, and guess what? The script finally DOES something! Yeah that’s right, The script will now install all the necessary packages! Will it configure them? No. But its certainly a start! I also made a lot of banner graphics and such, which took me a while… What’s next? After I make the script fully configure and install your system, I’ll make a proper CLI for it, after that design a custom launcher to start XPRA from! Then I’ll do little tweaks to the DE to make it truly good looking! Planning on adding the option to choose between Lxqt and Sway, right now it’ll only allow you to install sway unfortunately. Conclusion I am slowly losing my sanity, as the world spins, spins! The world keep moving on as im stuck here coding this project, I actually skipped gym today to finish this in preparation for this exact post! Why am I doing this? I got no clue honestly… Anyways, see you next time!"}, {"post_id": 72504, "ts": "2026-09-23T03:01:57Z", "hours": 3.47, "text": "Starting Work On Riftbook! - Day 0-1 Hello, it’s me, Inoty. You know, your long-list twin brother? Family relations aside, I want to talk about my great and amazing new project named “Riftbook”! Isn’t it just amazing? I certainly think so, Riftbook is a glorified install script for a Debian container meant to run inside of Chromebooks! “Oh but Inoty, oh your so cool and awesome, but doesn’t ChromeOS already ship with a Debian Container?” First off, shut up, and yeah, it does. But not all Chromebooks support it, either way this comes with a separate Desktop Enviroment that gets streamed directly to your browser for your pleasure! So even if you do have access to the container, I’d recommend using this anyway. (Not Biased In Any Way) What’s Currently Completed I have completed the watermark and branding for the project; alongside a rough outline of the install script, right now it’ll only install the container with some bundled packages, but fear not! More is coming soon! I want it to configure the Web Display for you, which might take me a while. But I think I may have the brain capacity to make it work (not really) Design Wowzers! The palette was proposed to me by @starvulkan (hate that guy) Where does the name come from? Well, this was originally going to be called “Driftbook” but I decided to change the name, due to the fact that I had the idea of it opening a “Rift” from ChromeOS to the Debian Container! Starting Work On Riftbook! A design section, I just cant wait! I designed the logo with the spiral tool in affinity, of course distorted a little, as a cheeky little reference to its Debian origins! Rough Draft - Driftbook Day 2-3 Hello, it’s me, Inoty, you know your weird uncle who was strangely into inspecting syringes at pharmacies? I got no clue honestly… Anyways, see you next time!...

but i tried multiple method but i have ocr the image first to get the numbers on gauge that makes the process slow so for now its only works on gauge which i have config and one at a time according to config / manual calibration only its give value in between 1 to 10 bar which can be incorrect but you have to calibrate it according to gauge type/spec future task for now as per now i cant make it issue previously and getting stable fps to perform my task through a webcam its mentioned in first devlog so i moved on to next part so after that i started working on detecting gauge and its main pin first i started with detecting the circle and middle point of the gauge so i used gauge image for that for now and then i apply same algorithm in video input so i understanded the geometry of circle to detect circle in the gauge then i get to know that we have prepare the image first for the detection in which we apply grayscale filter and blur to image , blur to reduce the noise after that preparing i used the “cv2.HoughCircles()” library of open cv this library search the circular shapes in images it have multiple parameter we can tweak to get desirable outcome after using that library to detect circle i draw the circle in the image and displayed the output in terminal after detecting the main circle in gauge finding the pin mid point is easy just put an dot on middle of circle(repented by red) Long Part Detecting the needle to detect the main gauge needle we have to mask the dial gray scale the region and using edge detection to highlight the boundaries and line (photos added) then identify the candidate line around the gauge so they all not mix-up (only detects straight lines ) then i visualized the lines i faced like problem in unpacking this detected line coordinates because it is structed as a single integer so i lookup for solution and come accross it we have to use “fatten()” it coverts arrays into one-dimensional array i didnt get it that much but its like assigning multiple coordinate at single point and i got lines on the images but all are not filtered too many line the out put is usable so we have to use filters like in the sence a set rules which line can pass through which are not i mused midpoint formula to calculate the closest line to the mid point to detect the needle after that i used angle calculation too after that i used all of this filtration and all that and combine it together and got the output in last now its detecting the needle and dial of the gauge given in input (some time is inflated due to some error in
