I practiced building the core structure of my pomodoro timer using HTML, I worked with standard layout tags like and also text inputs and buttons. I also created a separate file to practice and experiment with different tags and functions. Next, I want to build the real skeleton for my webpage.
After a bit of tweaking, I was able to complete the structure for my pomodoro webpage. I had to watch many tutorials and go through articles to figure out the right classes to use. I was able to correctly format the layout as well as making the buttons clickable. I kept forgetting to add closing tags which was frustrating because it messed up some of my code. Next, I plan on using CSS to polish this page to make it look neat and organized!
I finally finished the CSS, in the middle of the project I encountered an error that stumped me for a long time, my entire webpage kept showing a blank white screen but in the end I was able to identify the problem and fix it. After adjusting some margins padding, I used complimentary to not overwhelm users, I also tried to be as minimal as possible.
I am currently testing out different algorithms and laying down the javascript logic for my project as I am rather new to javascript. I worked on creating functions, loops, and conditional statements to further enhance my webpage. Next session, I plan to implement and use this knowledge in my current webpage
After countless of trials and errors in my latest development, I integrated many new features to the webpage. I had to learn a lot of JavaScript concepts I was unfamiliar with like duplicate declarations and global scope access but in the end I pushed through. I introduced a secret little bottom left prompt. When clicked, it brings you to a little cookie clicker game so you can slack off. I am continuing work on my main project, it’s a voxel engine utilizing virtualized geometry and splatting. It’s software rasterized but uses hardware rasterization in some cases. I’ve implemented clouds using raymarching and secondary lights. Currently the light is accelerated using only chunks. Nothing fancy yet but it’s a start
I’ve implemented the first version of GPU meshing and meshlet generation. It’s about 20 times faster than what my CPU can do (I have an rx 9070 and a 5950x) Also I don’t need to upload all the data so it’s even faster there (it was also quite slow to do) Of course, we are comparing an algorithm I tinkered and worked on for months to the GPU version which I just finished, so it’s completely unfair, as the CPU also can utilize more tricks with chunk generation skipping etc… using data that the GPU currently doesn’t yet have
I am continuing work on gpu meshing and just in general world creation. I improved the mesher by adding full LoD support, and I started a gpu memory allocator. I store the state of each chunk column. So it allowed me to have this progressive mesh generator because I also have made the mesher use batches instead(Which was difficult to add). The blogs are gonna be much more sparse because for me to have something to blog about I need to do a lot of work as all the low hanging fruits were already picked
Grass blades now spawn and work with the progressive terrain generation
Stardance is ending… but not this project. I am continuing work on it and devlogs will be on terra.
