Solar System Explorer is an interactive educational website I created to help people learn more about our Solar System and where we are in space. The website features an animated Solar System with all eight planets orbiting the Sun, allowing users to click on individual planets to learn more about them. The project is built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, all written together in a single HTML file. In addition to the animation, I included controls to pause the planets, adjust their orbital speed, and toggle planet labels, as well as a planet index, an interactive quiz, and a Learn More section! Keep in mind this is my first website, and I learned all of this from scratch so it took me a long time… The most challenging part of this project was making sure all the different components worked together while keeping the website organized and easy to use. Creating the orbital animation required positioning the Sun at the center and making each planet move along its own circular path. I also had to make sure that the controls actually affected the animation, that clicking on planets displayed the correct information, and that the quiz and navigation links worked properly. Another challenge was designing the website so that it looked visually appealing without making it too overwhelming, while also ensuring that the layout remained usable on smaller screens. Overall, testing each feature individually and then checking how everything worked together helped me gradually develop the website into a complete project. One thing I am particularly proud of is turning learning into something people can explore interactively. I wanted users to be able to experiment with the animation, explore individual planets at their own pace, and test their knowledge through the quiz. The animation is not intended to represent the planets’ actual sizes, distances, or orbital speeds to scientific scale, but it provides a visual way to understand the basic arrangement of our Solar System. If you want to test the project, simply open the website through its published GitHub Pages link in a browser or click “try project” here. Try clicking on different planets to read their information, using the pause button to stop and resume the animation, changing the speed, and toggling the labels on and off, etc. You can also explore the planet index, complete the quiz, and use the navigation bar to jump between sections of the website. This pretty much sums up Solar System Explorer as a whole! I hope whoever tries it enjoys exploring our Solar System as much as I enjoyed building this project!", "repo": "https://github.com/brlin888-create/SolarSystem", "demo": "https://brlin888-create.github.io/SolarSystem/"}]...

Hi everyone, My project was flagged for using too much AI, so I added new parts to my code such as a mini game and an enlargement feature for planets when clicked on. Hopefully this is enough to ship as I really spent a lot of time on this project and this is my first time doing html (my first website…)!

OH SHOOT I FORGOT I WAS SUPPOSED TO DO DEV LOGS NOOOOOO. uhh, I guess I’ll update you guys now. I went through several iterations for my case. At first, it was very simple, but now it’s a proper box with three layers and a hole for the rotary encoder. I had trouble writing up the schematic so I asked for help in the #hardware channel in the Slack. I also looked up the pin layout for the microcontroller to make sure that the pins I was using were fine.
I finished with the case! I found the 3d models for the parts I was using online and then told KiCaad to use those models, exported the PCB, and imported it into Fusion360 where I spent the next hour making sure everything was aligned and had enough room to fit. I had to redo the hole I made previously for the rotary encoder and make the walls thinner to fit the PCB
I realized that the cutout middle-layer thing wasn’t built right. It was too high to properly fit the key switches so I had to lower it, but then the microcontroller and rotary encoder had no room so I had to make a space for the microcontroller and the rotary encoder. I was also worried that the 3d models I have currently wouldn’t be faithful to the actual physical item so I exported the models from the orpheuspad demo and imported them into my project instead of using the ones I found online.
I wrote the firmware for the keyboard but didn’t test it because I don’t have the chip. I also wrote the readme for it and exported screenshots and the CAd model for the case I made in Fusion360...

This is not me trying to say I am giving up, this is me putting a pause in the construction of this game. Currently, I hope to work on a different engine based off of the PICO-8, TIC-80, and the Pixel Vision 8 Engine using rust, this engine will become the core engine behind Operation Sidereal. This new engine will enhance development speed for me, and for future games. But I do want to finish with something, I am pleased to announce that the new name for the game is “Steel Dreams!” The games core feature are still going to be there of course, but its all going to be in a new engine. The main reason I am choosing this transfer is because I do not feel like any workspace or any software at this point does not satisfy how I like to make my games or music. Much of it feels ridged, and not very dynamic. But the TIC-80 and the PICO-8 defines what a dynamic game engine looks like. The only issue with these engines are both the graphics and intentional limitations placed by the developers. I hope to replicate a software that fuses the TIC-80, the PICO-8, as well as the Pixel Vision 8 (check out their github at https://github.com/PixelVision8/PixelVision8 for more details why) to make a more capable console. I also plan to put a spin on the music creator to expand the capabillities of that too. Devlogs:
I finished the registry for static JSON files three days ago. Yes, this was registered as a project kinda late in development, specifically 3 days late. Anyway, I spent the last 3 days working on the gamestate class for CRUD operations using the SQLite3 library. (Boy, I hate making CRUD operations, but it’s necessary.)
Finished the C in CRUD (Create Read Update Delete). Now I have to finish the RUD now! (╯’□’)╯︵ ┻━┻
Finished the R in my CRUD operations; now I gotta finish the UD before jumping to the next part. That is, implementing core game features.
Finished saving systems I finally finished the saving systems. I would also like to correct myself: I have not finished the reading section in the code. I really meant that I finished both the Create sections and the Delete sections. But now I have finished the Create operations, the Update operations, and the Delete operations. Now I gotta finish the Read operations. (╯˙ᵕ˙ )╯︵ ┻━┻
Finally finished all CRUD operations I finally served my sentence in purgatory, now I will spend time defining how items and things work lol. ( ദ്ദി ˙ᗜ˙ )
Finished code prep for tile grid, crafting and machinery! This is the fun part. I actually get to do stuff that makes the game engine, game engine. Anyways I just cleaned up the code and added JSON parser’s for machine_attr.json and crafting_recipes.json.
Finished grid system install prep I lied, I had to make sql tables and make CRUD functions, I also did multiple other changes and clean ups to the code
Finished tile-grid system after 3 hours. My brain crashed 5+ times building this. Now that the boring parts are done, I can build the fun stuff. Next, I am going to work on the MAP item transport code (Multipurpose Air Pipes)
Current State of the game. This new console is called Smoothie-FC!...

Devlogs:
I began with adding a 2D camera, and disabling movement in the Z direction. after that i began with the actual grappling system. I did this by checking which hook point is the closest to you and then creating a attachment. then with some math (sin and cos) i added a swinging animation
added a target ring so you can see what the nearest hook point is that your gonne hook onto next.
added the first level. the bouncer in the beginning and the finish don’t work yet.
I made the bouncers work! I wanted a bounce animation for the bouncer. but instead of just changing the size i decided to use the editable mesh. A editable mesh is basically a mesh that can have “bones” and those bones can move individually to control how the part moves. So i added a bone that moves up and down to make a little bounce animation.
Added death detection when falling to low or going to high in the map. Also added the finish. it slows you down and gives you options to restart or go to the menu. (the buttons don’t work yet) also designed the UI for the main menu
I added functionality to the menu. You can now select a level and play, you can also continue to the next level when finishing.
updated the level loader to be more reliable. sometimes it bugged and caused nothing to load, that has been resolved. now you can only play levels that you have unlocked, you can unlock a level by completing the previous one. also added data saving and loading, you can now join and leave the gaming with your data being saved. i also display it in the playerlist
added a way to pauze the game. in the beginning it was quite tricky because when you where already swining the momentum carried on even when your body was anchored. so that caused the camera to still move in circles.
added 20 levels, and made the UI fit on smaller screens like phones. (even in verticial mode)
Added IkControls, these allow you to control the movement of the arms and legs, but keep the natural movement of the joints. so a arm can only move in a way a arm can normally move. This makes it look like the player is actually grabbing the string. instead of floating in the air.
My last post before shipping. I did alot of bug fixes, such as sticking to a wall of floor when swinging. and a really annoying bug which took me ages to find out. apparently roblox only allows 30 highlight in the same game, otherwise they won’t be rendered. i didn’t know this so i was troubleshooting alot why it didn’t work.
