Download You can download BeanPet at: https://marygoat.itch.io/beanpet Simply download, unzip, and run! Features You can do a lot with Bean, such as: Play: Launch an endless runner game, controlling Bean to get over the rocks! (Increases her mood the more you score!) Feed: Give Bean some food, yum! (Increases Hunger) Sleep: Naptime! Cats need their rest, so you can tell Bean to get some! Bean will also automatically rest if she’s too tired. (Increases Energy) Throw: Throw Bean around and hear the boings as she hits the edge of the screen and custom windows! Pet: Click on Bean to pet her! (Increases mood) Who IS Bean? Bean is my robotics team shop cat that roams around the shop. She loves to jump on the table, lay down on everyone’s keyboards, and receive pets. One time, she sent a message to our team Slack that was just nonsense. Woops. Everyone on the team loves her, and our robot is usually named after her in some way! Our 2025 Robot was named Black Beard, and in 2026 it was named Black Fang! Credits I used carysaurus cat sprite pack for this project, it’s really neat! Check it out at: https://carysaurus.itch.io/black-cat-sprites Sounds from Pixabay and Myinstants, Fonts from Google Fonts, built with Godot. AI Usage I used Claude and Gemini to help me debug my math for the throwing mechanic, as well as helping me figure out the collisions for the window so that when Bean is thrown it’d bounce off. I also used it to help me with the drag food system and figure out how to make Bean look at it and then walk towards it.", "repo": "https://github.com/awesomesauce4646/virtual-pet", "demo": "https://marygoat.itch.io/beanpet"}]...

SHIP!: READme is in place, with a gif showing off Bean! Ready to SUBMIT! Struggles? Figuring out how to make a good gif and setting up the windows took me a bit of time, but I think it shows a lot of the fun parts of Bean! What’s next? SHIP! I saw that there would be a stardust multiplier if you submitted this week, and I think my project is in a good shape. Boing: Every time Bean hits the edge of something, she’ll make a boing sound effect! Food: New feeding system! Instead of just being a click to feed, you can now drag a bowl and drop it. Bean will look at the food and walk towards it. Jump off ledge: If Bean is on a custom window, she will jump off of it when she walks and gets to it’s edge! Settings: Muting, Controls window, and quit button all work! Controls: A simple window that tells you the controls. Struggles? Getting Bean to jump at the right time on the ledge was hard, I had to mess around the the pxs and timing. I also struggled with making the window automatically be dragged by your cursor, and I finding an asset for the bowl was hard. I ended up making my own in Krita. What’s next? I’m thinking of making more interactive things, such as a ball for Bean to play with! Throw it across the screen and she’ll go towards it or something. I also want her mood to affect more of her behavior, maybe meow randomly if she’s hungry?"}, {"post_id": 83096, "ts": "2026-10-26T21:24:47Z", "hours": 1.3817, "text": "Virtual Pet DEVLOG: #9 window collisions, new drag anims, game affects mood What’s new? Window Collisions: Bean will now collide off the custom windows, + BOUNCE off them and the edge of the screen! Drag Animations: When being dragged around the screen, will be in a crouched position. When thrown, will do a pounce animation once. Game: Endless Runner will now give Bean more mood / happiness based off your points! Every time you score, a bit of her happiness goes up. Auto Sleep: If energy is low, Bean will automatically take a nap to restore energy. Struggles? It was hard figuring out how to do the bounce math, so I asked Claude to help me debug. I used Area2D for collisions, similar to my rock obstacle in the game. The bounces also used velocity, kinda like the throwing mechanic. What’s next? I am working on a SETTINGS window! It will include muting, controls, and a quit button! I’m still searching for more things to add as well."}, {"post_id": 82814, "ts": "2026-10-25T22:06:53Z", "hours": 1.2742, "text": "Virtual Pet DEVLOG: #8 redesign main ui, fix stats bug What’s new? Main UI: New TOPBAR! + Custom close button. Stats UI: Background for the icons so they stand out. Fix Stats Bug: Would only check happiness for ALL stats Speed change: Speed changes based on Bean’s hunger and happiness. Fed + happy = speedier. zoomies! Struggles? For the stats bug, while testing, I realized that all of the icons appeared with I played with Bean. It seemed like it was only tied to happiness, but I could’ve sworn I did it properly. Issue was: I forgot to save my code, and so my laptop turned off automatically and made me lose the fix </3 I asked Gemini to help me figure out what was wrong, then manually switched everything out into the proper order. What’s next? I will continue to update Stats UI since it doesn’t have the new topbar, alongside the endless runner window. I had a hard time trying to figure out how to make it so the trees properly come in after they have left the scene, changing the right position took me a bit of guess and checking. What’s next? I might add more obstacles, and I will keep making UI changes so that it feels more clean. I also want to make throwing the cat more fun, since it only meows right now. Maybe a particle effect?
Virtual Pet DEVLOG: #8 redesign main ui, fix stats bug What’s new? I also want the moods to affect Bean more, maybe taking naps on her own if she’s really sleepy.
Virtual Pet DEVLOG: #9 window collisions, new drag anims, game affects mood What’s new? I’m still searching for more things to add as well.
Virtual Pet DEVLOG: #10 boing sound, draggable food! What’s new? I also want her mood to affect more of her behavior, maybe meow randomly if she’s hungry?
Virtual Pet DEVLOG: #11 SHIP!!! What’s new? Hunger Warning: Bean will meow at you every 30 seconds if she’s hungry. Itch.io page: The page is all good to go! Windows executable works, and it looks nice! Might work on it more after ship?
Ships:
Bean Pet A virtual cat for your desktop, named Bean! I also used it to help me with the drag food system and figure out how to make Bean look at it and then walk towards it....

Devlogs:
I thought it would be fun if the desktop pet would bounce around the screen, and I made it so you can move it with your cursor.
I put the desktop pet in a box that will play an animation when hovered over.
Alright, this is a small update, just a few hotfixes. I’ve managed to make the box’s animation loop correctly, and now the box can actually be behind your tabs.
I’ve managed to make it so that the dog will walk, run, and lay down after you have pressed the box. althought its a little buggy right now so the first thing i will do tomorrow is fix that and add more features.
Alright this was a more larger update; adding more states and I got rid of the previous bugs.
I made a rpg style dialogue system and tomorrow the pet will be set up to be able to talk to you.
I made it work! Tomorrow this full project will be uploaded to my GitHub. Also, I’m thinking of rebooting this project because it’s not going in the direction that I envisioned.
I couldn’t post the full project on github today, but tomorrow i will for sure. Also I added a few a more features!
I couldn’t post the project today because I was busy. But I added a feature that lets you pet the dog :D...

It is our team’s outreach bot, meaning that it will be used to attract new members into our team during special events. Framework & design The biggest problem when starting this is that the deprecated RoboRIO cannot use the modern robot frameworks (used to control the robot at a high-level). The roboRIO is incompatible with the new frameworks because they are tightly coupled to the newer hardware. To overcome this, I created a new framework that mimics the behavior of the current modern frameworks. It subclasses TimedRobot , allowing for each robot mode to be encapsulated in its own module rather than all lifecycle hooks needing to be in the same class. In other words, this eliminates the problem of a gigantic robot.py file that orchestrates the entire codebase. Here’s a diagram to show how each mode is separated: Robot Framework (inherits from `TimedRobot`) │ ├── DisabledMode ├── AutonomousMode ├── TeleopMode └── TestMode Testing Unit testing robot runtime behavior isn’t feasible. Therefore, I created integration tests to ensure the correct behavior of the lifecycle methods in each mode (i.e. entered, periodic, exited). Robot Code I completed the drivetrain subsystem as a model for the rest of the subsystems to follow. The file structure encapsulates each of the subsystems, making it impossible for other subsystems to talk with or command the hardware of any others. For example: drivetrain/ ├── io/ │ ├── base_io.py │ ├── real_io.py │ └── sim_io.py ├── constants.py ├── drivetrain.py └── controller.py **Note: The image is of our competition bot that we’re going to use for an upcoming offseason event - I couldn’t find one of Puppy. First devlog I built the basic of any plataform using the godot built-in character body 2D and added a tilemap for easier level desing
Added the finish line and the timer The finish line is just a area2D and the timer well is just a timer node, next step is doing the silly mechanics of the game
Added the main feature of the game, the upgrade system like in a roguelike, every time you finish a run you will get to choose one of three upgrades, I proggramed it so upgrades can never repeat and are radomly choosen, also I made so the player can select the upgrade with the keybord or mouse(it will help if I want to make the game work on controller)
I added a skin system where the player can wear one hat and one costume Hats: Silly hat(on the image) Red hat(marios hat) Crown Costumes: Dream(on the image below) Batman Mario Lolipop(a lolipop) I also added the final tileset, it is white so I can change its color in the game engine, I also added a tilt when the player moves...
