Started with just a few windows, but now it has 11 apps, including Notes, Terminal, Calculator, Gallery, Paint, Music, Clicker and Achievements. This update was mainly about fixing the issues and improving things based on the feedback I got from my previous ship. I improved the UI, added smooth window animations, a desktop clock widget, a better calculator and some real capybara photos. Also fixed a bunch of small issues and passed all 32 manual tests! I know this is a pretty small ship compared to the previous one, but it’s a big step for me. This is my first time building something like a WebOS, and seeing how far it has come from just two simple windows feels kinda crazy 💀. Still have a lot to learn and improve! The hardest part was making all these apps work together without breaking the whole OS 💀 The Terminal is pretty basic because making a proper one was getting too complicated for me, so I kept it simple for now. Added 8 timer presets (1 min to 1 hour), a stopwatch, and Start, Pause and Reset buttons. For the code, I used data-minutes in HTML to get the selected time, then Date.now() and setInterval() to handle the countdown. Also made a displayTimer() function to update the time on screen. Had a funny bug where I typed minute instead of minutes , and the stopwatch just refused to work 💀 Also added smooth closing animations to all 11 apps! I used CSS keyframes for the animation and a closeAppWindow() function that waits 200ms before hiding the window. Now the windows don’t just disappear into another dimension. Learned a bit more about JavaScript timers, event listeners and CSS animations. CAPY can now track exactly how many hours he wasted sleeping. Very useful feature. 🦫💤 Next up, some games! 🐍🍊"}, {"post_id": 85579, "ts": "2026-10-31T14:56:59Z", "hours": 1.3164, "text": "DEVLOG -14 Finally finished upgrading Capy Terminal for BASIX OS v2.2! 🦫💻 The old terminal was pretty basic, so I decided to make it actually useful this time. Now it has 24 commands! You can create folders, move between them, create files, write and read text, delete files and even use the ↑ ↓ arrow keys to go through previous commands. Also added local saving, so CAPY won’t lose all his files whenever someone refreshes the OS. And of course, I couldn’t forget the funny commands 💀 Try typing capy hello , orange , 67 , joke or capy dance . CAPY will react in the terminal and on the desktop too! Ran 67 checks on the updated terminal and everything passed! That’s it for Terminal 2.0. Next up, I’m planning to add some new games to BASIX OS. CAPY has officially learned how to use a terminal. He still refuses to get a job. 🦫💀"}, {"post_id": 85064, "ts": "2026-10-30T21:17:49Z", "hours": 0.2764, "text": "DEVLOG -13 Finally finished BASIX OS v2.1! 🦫🚀 Pushed all the changes to GitHub and merged the feedback branch into WebOS 2! Devlogs:
DEVLOG-1 Start the project and building the OS the guide is a huge help like its my first OS so it will be a basic but will make it better in future!
DEVLOG-2 So far make this learning bit by bit from the guide and try my best!
DEVLOG-3 Add the about section too its kinda spicy message
DEVLOG-4 Today I worked on changing a few things in BASIX OS! First, I added a loading screen with some new Capybara images. I used setTimeout() in JavaScript to make the loading screen disappear after 3 seconds and open the desktop. CAPY needs some time to wake up 💀 I also started working on the Capy Terminal! I used JavaScript to check what command the user types and show the result. Making a proper terminal was getting pretty confusing, so I decided to keep it simple for now. The hardest part was getting the terminal commands to respond properly without breaking anything else. CAPY now thinks he’s a hacker because he can type help 😭
DEVLOG-5: Today I added two more apps, Capy Calculator and Capy Gallery! The Calculator was a bit confusing to make 💀 I had to figure out how to handle numbers, operators and the result using JavaScript. I used if statements to check which button was pressed and calculate the answer. For the Gallery, I used an array to store CAPY’s pictures and made Previous and Next buttons to switch between them. I’m still learning all this stuff and used some other open-source repos as references to understand how things work. The Calculator almost made my brain stop calculating 😭 but CAPY can finally do maths now!
DEVLOG-6 Today I added Capy Settings! Now you can change the wallpaper and switch between Light and Dark Mode. I used JavaScript to change the theme and wallpaper, and localStorage to save the selected options so they don’t reset every time you refresh. I also improved the taskbar icons with some help from ChatGPT. I tried looking at other open-source repos for reference, but making SVG icons myself was getting too complicated since I’m still learning 💀 Also updated the Capy Info section with some more CAPY nonsense. Go read it yourself, I’m not spoiling it! Dark mode is finally here. CAPY can now sleep with the lights off 🦫
DEVLOG-7 Today I added Capy Paint to BASIX OS! It’s a basic drawing app where you can choose different colors, draw something, use the eraser, clear the canvas and even save your masterpiece as a PNG. I used HTML Canvas and JavaScript to make it work. The tricky part was figuring out how to track the mouse while drawing. I used pointerdown and pointermove to draw lines as you move around. It’s pretty simple but I had fun making it. I also drew a beautiful masterpiece for the people rating my project 💀 CAPY thinks he’s Picasso now… someone stop him 😭
DEVLOG-8: Finally finished BASIX OS WebOS 2 and deployed it! 🦫 Today I added the Capy Achievements app with 5 secret achievements for people to discover. Some unlock by clicking CAPY, collecting oranges, drawing stuff or exploring the apps. I’m not telling you everything, go find them yourself 💀 I used JavaScript to check when an achievement should unlock and localStorage to save the progress so you don’t lose everything after refreshing. Also added a little notification when you unlock one! After testing the apps and fixing a few issues, I pushed everything to GitHub and deployed the website using GitHub Pages. This project was pretty fun but also confusing sometimes. Learned a lot while making it! CAPY has officially entered sleep mode. Bro needs another 100 years of rest 😭
DEVLOG- 9 Added a new Capy Music app to BASIX OS! 🎵🦫 At first I tried using YouTube, but the video refused to load 💀. So I switched to a simple audio player with Play and Pause buttons. Now the music keeps playing while you explore the OS, and you can pause and resume without restarting the song. Also gave the music window a cleaner look that works with both themes. CAPY can finally vibe while doing absolutely nothing.
Spent some time making BASIX OS look less like a bunch of random windows 💀 DEVLOG- 10: Added better fonts, rounded corners, shadows, and improved the text sizes inside the apps. Also cleaned up Capy Notes, Info, Clock, Settings, and the Music Player. Had a small issue where the Music Player text became almost invisible in Dark Mode, but fixed that too. Both themes look much cleaner now. CAPY finally hired a UI designer (me). 🦫
DEVLOG- 11 Worked on the Capy Calculator today! 🧮 It was working fine before, but you couldn’t see the previous number or operation while calculating. So I added a small expression display above the main number, kinda like Windows Calculator. Also made the display look cleaner in both themes. At first it kept showing null + instead of the actual numbers 💀 but fixed that too. Tested the basic calculations and everything seems to be working now. CAPY finally learned some maths.
DEVLOG- 12 Made a few final improvements to BASIX OS! 🦫 Added smooth opening animations to the app windows so they don’t just randomly pop up anymore 💀. Also added a small clock and date widget in the top-right corner of the desktop. Had a small issue where the clock appeared in the wrong corner because I messed up the CSS ID, but fixed that too. Finally tested the whole OS, and all 32 manual tests passed! Everything seems to be working fine now. CAPY is officially done working (not that he was working anyway). Will ship now! 🚀
DEVLOG -13 Finally finished BASIX OS v2.1! 🦫🚀 Pushed all the changes to GitHub and merged the feedback branch into WebOS 2! This update added Capy Music, a desktop clock widget, smoother window animations, an improved calculator, real capybara photos and a bunch of UI fixes. Also updated the README, added asset credits and passed all 32 manual tests! It started as a small WebOS project and somehow ended up with 11 apps 💀 CAPY says he’s finally retiring after all this hard work (he literally slept through everything). Time to ship this thing on Stardance! 🚀
DEVLOG -14 Finally finished upgrading Capy Terminal for BASIX OS v2.2! 🦫💀
DEVLOG- 15 This time I replaced the old Clock app with Capy Timer , since we already have a clock on the desktop anyway. 🐍🍊
Ships:
I made BASIX A simple WebOS made by CAPYBARA, its my first time making webos and its kinda fun i learn a lot while making it and I learn most of the things from the guide the guide was a huge help just use Ai for those thing which i didn’t understand its a small project now but will update it in future. It has a welcome screen, live clock and two draggable windows. Capy Notes lets you write and copy text, while Capy Info is just a little place where Capybara talks about himself lol.
BASIX OS is back with WebOS 2! 🦫 I added 8 more apps, including Calculator, Gallery, Clicker, Paint, and Achievements. You can also change themes, wallpapers, drag windows around, and unlock 5 secret achievements! The hardest part was making all these apps work together without breaking the whole OS 💀 The Terminal is pretty basic because making a proper one was getting too complicated for me, so I kept it simple for now. Also, I made the app icons with some help from ChatGPT. Try clicking CAPY, feeding him oranges, drawing something cursed, and finding all the achievements! CAPY says he built the entire OS himself… bro was sleeping the whole time 😭
Finally shipping BASIX OS v2.1! 🦫🚀 BASIX OS is a simple capybara-themed WebOS I made using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. CAPY says he built everything himself. I literally saw him sleeping the whole time 💀 Hope you enjoy exploring his OS! 🦫...
