One of the most challenging things that we faced was setting up a fair comparison between cloud dictation apps like Wispr Flow and Typd. I’m proud of beating Wispr Flow on word accuracy, and I’m proud that I was able to build a fully local, offline, and lightweight solution for AI voice dictation. To test it, you can download it at typd.mehmetdedeler.com/download for Windows and Mac. The initial download is around 130 MB, and the model download after that is about 1.5 GB, or 0.8 GB for the light model on more compute-intensive machines. It runs entirely on your computer in under 2 GB of VRAM or unified memory, works offline, and it’s free. Why: today’s best dictation apps need the internet, send your voice to the cloud, and ask you to trust whoever’s on the other end with it. And they’re genuinely great. Wispr Flow takes the messy things you say out loud and turns them into clear, well-formatted text. I wanted that without the cloud. My first attempt was a basic Wispr Flow clone. NVIDIA’s Parakeet (a 0.6B speech model) transcribed locally, then a free cloud API cleaned up the text: removing fillers, fixing structure. Only half of it was local. The transcript still left my machine, and everything depended on my connection. Running the cleanup LLM locally didn’t work either: it needed more VRAM than my laptop had, spilled into RAM, and got slow. Then I asked: why do dictation apps use two models at all? Every one that explains how it works, Wispr Flow included, describes the same pipeline: a speech recogniser, then a fine-tuned LLM that removes the “um”s, works out what you meant and writes it properly. My guess is that it’s just history. Good speech models and good LLMs both already existed, so apps glued them together. From first principles, though, the job is simple: audio goes in, finished text comes out. A second model only adds latency, memory and failure points. So why not one model that hears you and writes the final text directly? That’s Typd. I took an open speech model (Qwen3-ASR) and trained it so it doesn’t just transcribe, it writes: fillers and false starts gone, self-corrections resolved, lists and paragraphs where they belong. All the training so far ran on free GPUs. In blind tests on 66 of my own real dictations (judged by AI judges that didn’t know which app wrote what), Typd was preferred over Wispr Flow 27 times to 12, with 27 ties. It returns text about 0.4 s after I stop talking. What I’m working on next: structuring long, rambling speech better, and never losing something you said when you correct yourself mid-sentence. The hard part is that big LLMs are good at this because they know so much. A model that can explain anything from the height of the Eiffel Tower to photon spectra can work out what you meant. It’s like having a professor help you write a letter. But you can’t run a professor on a laptop. So Typd teaches a small model just that one skill, distilling what big models do for dictation into something that uses a sliver of your computer. Typd runs on Windows and macOS, 100% private, no internet needed. It comes in two sizes: a 1.7B-parameter version (about 2 GB) for machines that can spare it, and a lighter 0.6B version (under 1 GB) for everything else."}]...

Finished importing shifts from file The file that I am trying to convert has a . Shifter file extension, but is just an SQLite3 database file. And that is why I am making this project; to make it possible to easily upload the . Shifter to Google Calendar
Decided to simplify the idea Originally I was planning on making the program connect with your Google account to make it automatically upload the calendar. But since Stardance is almost ending and I have a lot of other projects I also want to finish I decided on just turning the file into an .ics and just manually uploading the file to Google Calendar. Below you can see I have already made the program parse the .Shifter into a list of standard classes, so turning that into an .ics file is easy as cake.
I FOUND IT! I finnaly know now what the problem was, for some reason the developer of the Shifter app decided that it would be a good idea to use integers for the months. So jan is 00, feb 01, etc. This took me way too long to figure out, but I eventually did. I found out because I saw my little brothers birthday in the notes, but it was shifted by exactly one month and then I looked at all the dates and saw that years ended with 11, instead of 12. Now I just need to fix a little problem I created myself by using timezones to parse the dates. This causes dates to shift an hour because of winter time.
Turned project into CLI program I have given the program a basic interface and uploaded it as a package to PyPI. I also finished the README and now I just need to fix a few details for shipping the project. (it is 2:30 AM btw, I probably should have started this project sooner)
Ships:
I made a program that turns a useless format (.Shifter) into a format that anyone can use and import into almost any calendar app. My parents only use the Shifter app to manage all family planning, but I am more fond of Google Calendar. Now with this program I can easily import their calendar. I am proud of what I made, but less proud of the fact that it is currently 2:45 AM, an hour before the deadline....

Title: Onset Tiles by @SadPlayer652523 | Stardance Title: Onset Tiles by @SadPlayer652523 | Stardance
Devlogs:
So far, making the main menu and still thinking about the concept.
Made 1 tile actually work.
Working on spawning tiles. Pretty hard and needs more work on accessing files and stuff.
Devlog #4. I added tile spawning from files, and added BPM-dependent speed. Graphics are still just ColorRect nodes. Up next will be making the main menu actually function as a main menu, as well as the buttons in the main menu.
Devlog #5. Added music for testing. Random fixes. Not much today.
Devlog #6. I added dynamic loading. Now I can load songs easily from folders. Updated to v0.4!
Devlog #7. I added crash detection and added custom Android maps/levels/charts folder at storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.sadplayer652523.onset/files/songs So far, it just uses settings.json, lanes.lrc, and song.mp3
Devlog #8 I added score counter and added more input in New Song menu. Can’t forget stuff. So far, it has been easy. Everything just somehow works.
Devlog #9 Actually found out the Remote Deploy thing in Godot today Other than that, worked on some simple QoL and I think it’s time to work on the graphics more. Used queue_free() instead of hide() Added hit detection so score only updates when the tile is on the hit line. Buttons get disabled when past the hit detection line.
Devlog #10 Finally started adding textures. Still bare bones but at least better than a flat ColorRect I feel like the main gameplay is done so adding textures now. It feels like the next best step.
Devlog #11 Added a smooth transitions between the Song Select and gameplay Still has 1 thing to fix
Devlog #12 Finally added a working pause menu but still needs work on the Quit button. This game gameplay-wise is almost done and only needs some better graphics so tomorrow will probably only be graphics and some minor gameplay changes maybe.
Devlog #13 Finishing fixing the Import button. Still has time to go. After that will definitely be graphics. As main gameplay is actually done with the Import button. And I guess my 1st mobile-only game will be done.
Devlog #14 Added a nice looking button for the song selection. Doesn’t look bad actually. The cover still needs to get pulled from cover.png in the songs directory but at least the cover PNG file is always the same size, even at different resolutions.
Devlog #15 The first stable pre-release is out. Everything works as intended unless you try to break it. Winning or losing isn’t implemented so it’s kinda like a tech demo or a concept.
Devlog #16 Finally making losing and winning scenes. I’m gonna try different concepts (probably) and see what fits best.
Ships:
Everything in this ship works as intended. There are no built in levels and it runs purely on custom levels. The file structure is relatively simple. You have to create your own levels with files “settings.json”, “lanes.lrc”, “song.mp3” (must be in mp3) and optional “cover.png”....

Devlogs:
Basic setup After not developing for GBA for a few years, I have had to read up on the memory mapping and general features. Here is a simple map comprised of an “apple” and three “snake bodies”.
Controls! After messing with interrupts and realising they won’t work with the basic functions I’ve written, I ended up scrapping that feature (lazy CPU waiting for vsync). Instead, I implemented the snake as a list of positions and moved it around the screen!
Building Website Spent an hour wrestling Github Actions to build the GBA file AND publish it to Github Pages. The game is available to test on https://rayzchen.github.io/snake-gba/
Apples! The snake can now eat apples to grow longer. Much time was spent debugging a very slow apple placement function.
GBA VSync Interrupts! Finally figured out how to use interrupts to make the VSync not burn the CPU :D
Snake sprites Designed the snake to look like… a snake. The apple also looks like an apple now.
Redrew the snake, the pattern on the snake is more visible now
GUI!! After designing a pixel font (by hand…) the screen now displays a score and a border!
Game Over text Now the game says Game Over! (had to redraw text tiles)
More text! The game now displays PRESS START, GAME OVER and can be played as many times as you want! Good luck beating the game… (let me know if you get the maximum score of 323!)
Ships:
Snake written for the Nintendo GameBoy Advance This was written entirely in C with no game engine! Even the sprites and tiles themselves are just numbers in lists! TO PLAY: Go to https://rayzchen.github.io/snake-gba/ . START button is mapped to Enter. If the game feels slow, download the ROM and run in an emulator of your choice! (mGBA, NanoBoyAdvance or the linked online emulator etc.)...
