I created a simple program using SDL3 in C++, being my first time updating from SDL2 to SDL3, but not much changed honestly (at least that I noticed) that reads the steamdecks controller input and saves it to a light struct that will later be sent using either wifi or usb to a target pc. What I’m most proud of so far is how I managed to get a simple working environment to develop and test code on the deck quickly. I code on my computer and with the press of a button my mouse and keyboard now control the steamdeck, also being able to quickly send and receive files to test new builds etc… Thanks to KDE Connect and a few other tricks I will know start researching how to make any sort of wifi connection reliable enough, wish me luck! Title: Flappy Bird for the final release of the Ni Title: Flappy Bird for the final release of the Nintendo Revolution by @PhantomPorter | Stardance
Devlogs:
Set up the building for this project and added the SDL boilerplate and some input functionality.
Added pipes that can randomly generate and a background image that was pretty annoying to get in (had to convert it to the rawest data ever).
This use of free will consist of adding a collision to die, score, and a background song. The way I did it was to load a font from my system to use in the game (Which is a way I don’t fully like but It was the easiest for me I think). This had me messing with CMake again to compile the needed libraries for text and audio. Audio was a different beast since each method I was trying was giving out errors, working but it didn’t restart in game over, or loud static. In the end I switched to C++ to compile this audio madness correctly. Today’s use of free will I added the ability to shake the Wii remote to flap. It was pretty weird to add since the SDL method wasn’t working so I did it the more hardware way. Overall pretty cursed but is a fun Wii way to play the game, and the buttons are still there so don’t worry.
Ships:
I made a flappy bird clone for the Wii, which didn’t have a game engine that I could easily use. So I had to learn how to implement simple audio and video in code, but SDL was able to make that much easier. I’m really glad this was able to work out well, it was pretty interesting to make a game in this way. To play this Download the files from the Github and either Boot in dolphin by opening the boot.dol in the same folder as the .elf OR Put the files in the apps folder in a usb/sdcard and launch from the homebrew channel on the wii. Controls: A/B/Shake to flap, 2 to quit...

I made the introduction section of the website, and finished the main animations. I also added a bit of filler text for the body of each one
Added the first photo in my portfolio to the website! I also made sure that a user could see it knowing to scroll down, Im going to add the other photos in my portfolio soon.
Added more photos! Fixed the scrolling because the old one while it looked cool was WAAY too complex to be used at all on other computers. Also I made it so that when you hover over the photo details their opacity increases.
finished adding all my photos! finally! I rearranged some of the photos so it made more sense and also I made it so that lansdcape orientated photos instead of multiple lines of Shutter speed, apurture and ISO its one line so that everything fits better on the screen. Tommorow/today imma start working on the code section or work on an about me section which will lead to a contact section
Made it so you can scroll with arrow keys, also added scroll buttons, obv clean and minimal to avoid taking attention from my photography. Made it so that JSON controls the photos and JS inserts them dynaimically, this was quite a challange for me since i didn’t know JSON syntax and how to parse it at all.
this is the longest devlog that ill prob have on this project everything made the back btn a chameleon nav so it doesn’t get in the way while scrolling down photography made transitions between different scenes, also made it JSON based, so i don’t have to do repetitive html.
