today I started the noble journey of making joy.com. joy.com is the cosiest corner of the internet, having everything from free colouring pages designed by me, to daily affirmations. joy.com is a place for kindness, love, and cozy entertainment, no matter who you are.
today I spent a full hour writing and re writhing the same lines of code 17 times and the problem is not even fixed yet. my brain is officially mush.
I’ve finished most of the base code for the main features and image uploading software now I’m going to work on expanding the data base for the generation options, and the actual website designing part! wish me luck!
in the last five hours I have finished almost all of the code for the website, tried running the site for the first time (the entire thing crashed immediately), debuged and tried again…twice, began working on the web design, ran it again, made two whole new fetures which brought me back to square one with the whole crashing issue, and now I’m writing this while crashing out on my bed. so a pretty productive 5 hours if you ask me. Some things that challenged me along the way : Getting ssh permissions working, as my computer was facing issues and I hadn’t used the powershell terminal in a long time. Commanding and sourcing OpenAI API on JavaScript (I’ve mainly used Python to work with API keys) Working with JS syntax (have very minor JavaScript experience, so spent a good 2 hours looking at documentation in my second monitor) I am most proud of adding the amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) awareness commands to the slack bot. I believe this disorder is severely unknown in our modern generation even with its high stakes and many patients diagnosed with it in the United States. Additionally, I am proud of getting all my syntax right with the JavaScript blackjack, as I faced issues getting it to work on C++ and debugged so much when making it for the first time a year ago in Python. To test it, you must be in the Hack Club Stack. Invite the bot to a channel with /invite @Sid ’s Second Super Slack Sidekick (or similar) /sv-help shows all commands README available on the github page. Devlogs:
Just added a Joke API command onto my slack bot 17 minutes in!
Added a couple more commands to Sid’s Second Super Slack Sidekick today! Made one BIG fumble when the responses were sent in channel ( await respond ({ response_type: “in-channel”}) but have now pushed the new changes and private chats work just fine :D Added my OpenAI API to here to get access to more versatility with my commands Searches the web for headlines (gpt-4o) /sv-weekly-headlines Does math step-by-step, in the slack /sv-math Suggests your replies to other peoples’ messages with /sv-whatdoisay
Turned some of my previously-written Python code into JavaScript to add my biggest change to the bot: the sidekick can now play Blackjack with you! This was pretty straightforward because I already had blackjack code written in Python, all I really needed was to convert it into JS and make it work with the Slack API. bold markdown test
Realized the bot would be a perfect thing to use to spread awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). ALS affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, taking away the ability to use muscles. I added three commands dedicated to it: /sv-als-stats for current statistics, /sv-als-research for recent breakthroughs, /sv-als-donate to encourage donating to the cause. Inspired by what Discord bot Dyno did during COVID, when it showed COVID stats by country. A simple Slack bot won’t solve the problem, but if even one person donates to the cause, that’s worth making the whole thing. In /sv-als-stats , AI webscrapes the data and presents it in a easy-to-read format. For ...-research , 4o looks for recent research and developments for ALS (side note, I need to refine this better because sources are often outdated even with the specific system instructions) For ...-donate , 4o finds large ALS charities, clinics, nonprofits, etc for you to donate to, spreading awareness.
Ships:
I made a Slack bot called Super Slack Sidekick hosted on Hack Club’s Nest server. It has some simple utility commands, webscrapes using OpenAI’s GPT 4o API, can be used for ALS awareness, and fuels your (legal) gambling addiction through Blackjack! Minimal AI coding: used to fix missing parenthesis and autocomplete repetitive tasks, such as updating the help menu with available commands....

Even tho ive been working on really exciting stuff, i really would like to focus on actually learning and having a deep enough understanding of vulkan and other stuff like the best engine’s architecture before actually logging and building something open and usable, thats why i feel this is a good place to finally ship this project as it is and maybe come back to it at some point Pre-ship checklist! I’ve updated the website! now you have a few new sections with new information like the game i build using this engine and other cool stuff! published a new version to the github releases page (0.19.3 i think), with the binaries for the demo game and the sandbox for both windows and linux! the web build is still there on the website but it is marked as legacy tho Its been super fun to work on this and ive learnt a lot but i really really really think i could make something so much better with all the knowledge i now have and with some serious research, this is pretty much what ive explained in most of all the previous devlogs (the last 2 or 3) I’ve been working on applying some of the stuff ive been working on to the engine, like the new renderer class its now pretty much ported nicely! ive also tested that everything worked cross platform and yay! the project is very ready to hold any new game or project you might wanna do with it, although i might wanna make a quick tutorial on how to work with the engine on a github repo cuz its not very intuitive Known issue I’ve been trying to add support to the engine for builtin shaders but ive realized that its a super deeper problem than what i was expecting, id honestly do something like making all the shaders be done with something like slang and then compile them to spirv without any glsl intermediary PD: the video you see is a demo scene you can find at assets/scenes/physics.scene if you wanna try it by yourself!!!"}, {"post_id": 54613, "ts": "2026-08-25T17:11:59Z", "hours": 10.0381, "text": "ORIGIN ENGINE I’ve finally managed to port enough of the original engine to setup an imgui layer to have this little built-in launcher! it currently only works when using opengl, but its completely supported by both the windowing backends (glfw & sdl3) Its hard to make videos like this on a steamdeck so please like lol. Other stuff I completely restructured the new engine architecture to be a layered system, the engine holds a stack of layers and updates them independently! each layer holds stuff like OnAttach OnLateUpdate OnEvent etc, which is a much better approach compared to what we had before! I created a completely new custom file system, as the sandbox and games use completely different files and base directories, you can now mount/dismount different “aliases” for each program, so you can find your assets easily with custom virtual paths like sandbox://settings.json or project://scenes/scene.json Literally ported the scene/entity system right from the previous version, but it is a lot smaller currently, because the previous one wasnt really good, we now can load scenes from a file but now those get added to a scene stack, which is a lot more efficient if you wanna load them again! Overall the project’s code quality is so much better too!! After these bases are set im gonna be focusing on getting a full render layer working with at least opengl, even tho the vulkan renderer is already setup… PD: Origin Zero is just the new “protoype” name i gave it, just like with when i started this project i called it Origin “Zeus” lmao"}, {"post_id": 53290, "ts": "2026-08-23T19:02:52Z", "hours": 9.1458, "text": "ORIGIN ENGINE I’m sorry in advance that these and probably the next few devlogs wont have very exiting things or new and awesome information but sometimes you gotta focus on boring structural stuff that its just not really fun… The new Project-Based System The engine is now very dependent on the sandbox editor, sort of like a symbiotic relationship between the sandbox and your code editor, because thats where you will not only handle your assets but also play the game. The previous version just had the sandbox to be a tiny map editor tool that not even i would use half of the time The project (also called environment) then would have its own “environment” literally where all your assets would be included, with very little naming restrictions, this would make working on the project super easy and itd be easy too to use git with it (maybe build a builtin git UI??? it could be cool) I’ve already built the base for it and I’ve already added support for ImGui only for the OpenGL backend, i was thinking of adding a different UI system but this one will do for now :))"}, {"post_id": 51278, "ts": "2026-08-20T20:19:45Z", "hours": 8.3647, "text": "ORIGIN ENGINE A NEW UPDATE! What we currently have: I have the structure already though: A new project-based system where all the shader compilation and asset handling is done for each project, this + a simple abstraction layer should allow the sandbox to be a hugely more important tool as you will be able to play your game right in the editor! Compile time switch between SDL3 or GLFW for windowing, input is not yet “ported” if you consider it that way What i wanna add but may be difficult Runtime api switching between OpenGL, Vulkan and DirectX3D 11. even tho for now i have a super basic abstraction layer and only opengl is even able to initialize so….. maybe too hard i hope i manage to do it tho , was thinking of doing a similar thing for switching between physics engines like bullet3, physicsX or Box3D, this is very much in the future of course Project export/ editor previews This is a major step and im learning a lot!! but its very difficult to handle new stuff like vulkan with other new c++ architectural stuff, hope it goes well"}, {"post_id": 50196, "ts": "2026-08-19T10:21:29Z", "hours": 7.615, "text": "ORIGIN ENGINE Another update to the best game engine there is that starts with the letter “O” (i think). New things that are completely finished: Fix the sandbox UI, it was missing imgui flags from previous bug fixes i had to do because the docking branch of imgui was broken, they fixed it so i just rolled back! Cleaned up the rendering class, specially important for the new updates im working on, because im gonna need to do a hell lot of abstraction! Things im working on Im taking the current base of the engine to make a new “modular” system just for the love of the game, the most basic thing ive done is to allow the user to choose between SDL3 or GLFW for windowing, although input is currently only handled with SDL3 regardless…. All actions have assigned a certain key/button/axis etc… It allows you to use keyboard/mouse and gamepad all at the same time Games can now have support for handheld devices like your steamdeck! Support for precompiled shaders (GLSL -> SPV) This is still work in progress!! The engine itself supports the compiled GLSL files very quickly but the problem is to get those shaders to compile in the first place The shader class gets the relative path for the shader, before actually compiling it, it checks if theres a file with the same name but that ends with “.spv”, in that case it uses that one Right now theres not an easy utility script that will handle compilation for you, that needs to be done next!! Dynamically Chunked Terrain Collisions Very early and of course WIP, I still haven’t done much but i have a pretty good idea of how this will work: You bake the local position of all the vertex of a terrain model and then, when you require it, you get all the triangles close to the player in real time (with a basic “chunked” system), then Bullet3 generates that mesh collider rather quickly as the mesh is not so big (this will probably require multi-threading ). After these bases are set im gonna be focusing on getting a full render layer working with at least opengl, even tho the vulkan renderer is already setup… PD: Origin Zero is just the new “protoype” name i gave it, just like with when i started this project i called it Origin “Zeus” lmao
ORIGIN ENGINE version 0.19.3 First ship is coming up soon! I’ve updated the website! now you have a few new sections with new information like the game i build using this engine and other cool stuff! published a new version to the github releases page (0.19.3 i think), with the binaries for the demo game and the sandbox for both windows and linux! the web build is still there on the website but it is marked as legacy tho Its been super fun to work on this and ive learnt a lot but i really really really think i could make something so much better with all the knowledge i now have and with some serious research, this is pretty much what ive explained in most of all the previous devlogs (the last 2 or 3) I’ve been working on applying some of the stuff ive been working on to the engine, like the new renderer class its now pretty much ported nicely! ive also tested that everything worked cross platform and yay! the project is very ready to hold any new game or project you might wanna do with it, although i might wanna make a quick tutorial on how to work with the engine on a github repo cuz its not very intuitive Known issue I’ve been trying to add support to the engine for builtin shaders but ive realized that its a super deeper problem than what i was expecting, id honestly do something like making all the shaders be done with something like slang and then compile them to spirv without any glsl intermediary PD: the video you see is a demo scene you can find at assets/scenes/physics.scene if you wanna try it by yourself!!!
Ships:
I made a custom game engine from scratch! it has a fast opengl pixelart renderer, builtin physics, lighting, an entity-component system, a spatial audio system, terrain system, it can load and save scenes on the fly, supports many 3d asset extensions… Its what i used to create my other big project! (JSP) the engine is cross-platform and works right out of the box for linux, windows and web!! and also it comes with a lightweight level editor and ive also made a website for it Hope you like it!! made with <3 from @aloyak...

Devlogs:
Welcome to the first devlog of Floppy FS, a file system that runs entirely in the browser. Here are the features that I have completed building: Create files and folders. View files/folders as a grid view like windows file explorer. Notepad UI for viewing file contents. Custom context menu available for performing actions. Storing all the data in browser’s indexed db.
Here is the devlog #2 of Floppy FS. I have updated a little bit UI and added some features: Changed the icon of files and folders like windows file explorer. Now, you can actually edit the content of text files. Also, added the search functionality for searching files and folders. Notifications are available now for feedback of important actions.
Welcome to devlog #3 of Floppy File System. Here are the changes for this devlog. The whole CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) functionality is working now. Designed two custom context menus. The general one for whole screeen. And a node specific context menu: When you right click on a file or folder, you can perform actions on it. The breadcrumb is working now. You can click on any folder name in the breadcrumb section (section to the left of search box) to jump directly to that folder.
Welcome to devlog #4. Here are the changes and new features I’ve added: Now, the support for image and video files is added. Created “Floppy Image Viewer” for viewing images. Added filename extensions (.txt, .png, .mp4)
Here’s the devlog #5 of Floppy File System. The UX is improved (pressing enter when creating new file or folder creates them). Plus, users can also rename files and folders now by right clicking the file or folder and then selecting rename from context menu. And some improvements in utility functions.
Introducing terminal mode. Now, you can move around the Floppy File System and perform actions using terminal commands. Available commands for now: ls for displaying all the files/folders in current directory. cat <filename> for viewing the content stored in file. cd <foldername> for changing directory. clear for clearing the terminal. More commands will be added soon. I’m actively working on this project.
Welcome to devlog #7 of Floppy FS. I’ve added a bunch of new terminal commands and added Copy/Cut > Paste functionality in the UI mode. Right click to open context menu and perform copy/cut > paste. New terminal commands: touch <filename> for creating files. mkdir <foldername> for creating folders. rm <target> for deleting file or folder. edit <filename> for opening file in the editor.
Here is the Final devlog before shipping. Added a bunch of new features and improved UI/UX. Features added: Sort by name, date created and size. Download files. For folders, it downloads the zip file. Grid/List view available. View details for files/folders in list view. Added support for pdf files and word documents. Included size property with every file/folder. New commands in terminal: rename <old> <new> for renaming files/folders. tree for viewing tree view of the folder. export <file> for downloading files.

So I was working on a project which will add music to normal typing like i can do watever like write an essay ,email or whatever everyone write on this website will be turned into melody which will hopefully please your ear. Today I just added all the visual components without any styling and arrangement just on the screen, First i will style them then add functionality. Lets see each other at next devlog
Fuhhh I didn’t know that designing a ui as simple as this and reserching all about ui and manually testing every possible combination for padding and margins and text size I finally completed the final design of the project, Hopefully cuz this took a holy 5 hrsss…. so Now I can start working on my functionality. Guys pls rate the design , In my opinion it’s pretty decent help in improving the design ;>
So in this part I was heavily depended on AI because first I know nothin about music and second I needed to learn a whole library called Tone.js which is the lib behind the sound production on my website also I used ai for getting the stats on which keys are used with which keys which most often then group them according to it and personally assigned them notes if similar frequency so typing produce melodiaceous sound if that is a actual word ,not random notes of algorithmic frequencies. Guys rate this
ok So I am writing this again cuz my internet crashed when I hit post but anyways today I learned about sound manupulation and waveform formation of a sound for which I was heavily depended on ai because come on how could have I know about a lib tone js which produces sound and I had to use it in my project and I have finally also completed the markdown logic hm but I only did text wrapping rest is done by marked lib so now you can toggle by clicking the eye icon can try on https://typetone-beta.vercel.app/
Well I shipped the project with nothin in mind but when the payout came and I saw the reviews the positivity motivated me in upgradinging the project now cutting the crap today I added 3 diffrent modes ambient, chirp and lofi. where in each mode the sound produced by each key is diffrent its melodecious in ambient and idk the words but yes its still soothing till chirp to me. I also added a setting button for managing blur of the editor and vertical position of wave from reading the review.
Ok guys again from the reviews I noticed that someone thought if he could record his typing then it’d be great so guess what I added the recording feature to the website now you can write and record the melody for anythime later you want to hear :>

This was my 1st stardance challenge project and I mainly did it to get some beginner experience and understand how the stardance challenge works. I’ve never made a slack bot before so it was cool to do. I was gonna add more features but to be honest I’m way too lazy and I have better ideas for me to work on. Try it here in the stardance slack workspace: https://app.slack.com/client/E09V59WQY1E/C0APH2MMHH7 To use it, click the link and join the slack workspace. Then in any channel you can use this command: /mhdsb-help This command shows a list of every command you can do and a short description of their function....

Devlogs:
I have designed the schematic for my hackpad. It contains a 3x3 key matrix, an OLED screen and a rotary encoder.
Lost my PCB to a crash without backups :(. I have to recreate it now
Despite accidentally wiring my LEDs to 3V3 instead of 5V i have finished my PCB
I have now created the model for my case. It clamps the CPB into place and is screwed together
I have now finished my firmware.
Ships:
I have made a hackpad with a 3x3 key matrix, LEDs, an OLED display, and a rotary encoder. I have made it so that it can help me play my games easier by macros for my games on it. It has 2 key layers, which allows me to have more options for macros to use. I have had some challenges such as learning KiCad and Fusion, as well as losing my PCB to a crash, but i am happy with my final design....

I am working on a robotic arm assistant, for the past 3 days or so i have been working on the actual AI used in the arm and it was really hard to be fair. AI help was used while making this since no one (atleast i havent found) anyone who made anything close to my idea. I am pretty satisfied with what i have so far though. (also the ai isnt local its through gemini api)
I made a tkinter UI for talking to the AI/sending data to the arduino, i will have to make the app design better, print a response inside the app form the ai and make it so the ai also controls the arm while having a conversation too.
I worked on a lot of code, made the AI local using ollama, the ai works great it doesnt strain my pc too much and the ai can now send commands to the robotic arm. I did use some ai for learning the libraries like pyqt6 and ollama but the final code is written by me. After making the backend work i worked on the UI, originally i wanted to use tkinter but i decided to go with PyQt6 since its cleaner. The UI is pretty Barebone so far so next steps are making it look better and designing the app to be cleaner.
#devlog 4 i have further worked on the app, i made a alternative version which uses the socket library to send the input to the server wher ethe ai sends back the output ( i will use this if i were to make a mobile app) but mainly i just made the app look better and thats about it. Next steps are adding automated functions, making api variables so the ai can tell me the weather, news etc and also i should finish the 3d model and design the head of the arm too. thats it for now

Thats about it i think im really close to shipping.(Also under the display i will add a magnet so he can pick up stuff)
I worked on the finishing touches, made a showcase youtube video, i am happy with the results.

I am not doing the case yet because I might change my mind on the layout and don’t want to keep remaking a case. This is be my fifth iteration of this design and have learned a lot and am planning to learn more.
I have finished my Plutopad and have gathered all my files and spent a very long time trying to compile my firmware to get it right. I was also doing all this in the midst of a possible tornado around me. Anyways, I was able to settle on my PCB and case and am ready to submit this project. This is my very final PCB.
Ships:
I made a Hackpad, which I named the Plutopad. This was very challenging due to the fact that I have never used KiCAD prior to this mission. I have also never worked with building firmware or even trying a “ysws” program like this, so I am going in headfirst with something I enjoy very much, building “things”. My firmware works and is compiliable but it is baseline it can still be configure and the OLED screen doesn’t have any input yet; however, if this is approved I will definitely be taking a crack at this really cool thing that I built. The screenshot is of my QMK firmware finally working after about 2 hours of troubleshooting. It was a wonderful and joyous end to a project....

GUYS! Referred Hackpad guide and routed the pcb.
I just measured by pcb and designed a case for it on fusion. i followed through the hackpad guide and replicated each and every step to make my own minopado!!
LEARNING STAGE (complete). I have completed the cad design by following through the kackpad guide. generated the plate and extruded the usb port and extruded some final designs of case.
Finalized all the components which will be on my Pad. will start the schematic tmrw.
Learned how to deal with assigning footprints and cad designing , will implement this learning to make my actual 5 key pad .
Made seperate folders and assigned symbols and footprinds for CommandPad
I have assigned footprints and 3d models for xiao and cherry mx switches! for CommandPad.
Finally assigned all the footprints with their 3d models (tbh irritating task searching online all that stuff)
Completed the Schematic for CommandPad! it’s clean isnt it :) [ guys if i messed up smthng comment, Thank you] who doesnt love making projects :))))
Dealing with PCB (session 1)
PCB is almost done (just need to add keycaps)
Added Keycaps!
Completed CAD Designing...
