Devlogs:
I’ve been working on the fundamentals: fonts, folders, colors.
I have added a project system, I can write projects in markdown, and they will get shown here. The detail page is not finished!
I’ve replaced the comming soon with some info about me, socials, and skills. I’ve also added featured projects, that will be shown when “featured: true” is set in the .md file.
I’ve added a contact form, that sends a mail to the person who contacts me, and a discord message in my private server. I’ve also styled the projects page :D
I have added a Status page to monitor some of my public projects, for now, only 1 is added because the other ones that were added are giving status down, when they are up.
I’ve added Umami Analytics (very cool), its a self hosted analytics system. I’m hosting it on my Nest Server :D
Ships:
I’ve build a new portfolio, with next.js and added some animations with framer motion. Im the most proud of the status page, it monitors some of my public sites, and also the contact form, where i get a notification in discord, and the person that tries to contact me a mail via resend....

Right now, it logs every click, as well as the positions and dimensions of apps every 5 minutes. The dashboard website then displays that data in a variety of interesting ways. The collector is now (in theory) compatible with the majority of Linux desktops (sorry Windows users, maybe next year). I also added a small config file. Right now this only stores the window-snapshot interval, which you can change through the UI. I originally planned on adding a list of apps to ignore, but there were too many problems. Primarily, I wasn’t sure how to reliably handle the focused app being blocked without making it null, which is very messy, and the whole thing seemed too complicated for a feature I’m don’t really plan on using. I also considered making it a frontend filter, but chose not to for a similar reason. Once again, you can try it yourself here with my data. If you want to collect your own data, you can download the collector here (note: you need to give your user input permissions for this to detect clicks, more details in the README). I’ve only tested this on my machine (KDE Wayland) so if you have a different setup, tell me how it goes! Afterword I had a lot of fun making this. This was my deepest dive into web development yet and I learned so much. This is also the first time I’ve shipped a project for public use, which was a has been a valuable experience. I could definitely do more with this (more config, more charts, more data), and I do plan on revisiting it in the future, but I think this is a good place to leave it for now. Thanks for reading, see you next project :)"}, {"post_id": 17047, "ts": "2026-06-27T17:53:20Z", "hours": 15.2803, "text": "Day ?? - New Features! After 15 hours (got a bit carried away) the next feature is (mostly) finished! You can now monitor and display window data. Every 5 minutes, the collector logs what apps are open and their positions on screen, which you can then visualize on the dashboard. I thought it would be interesting to combine the click data and the window data in some way, but I decided against it. The reason being that I technically don’t know what app the user clicked since it could have changed in the 5 minutes. To collect the data I had to run a separate KWin script to get around the restrictions, same as with the clicks. This script gave me the windows as JSON, which I then stored in 2 SQLite tables. One containing general info (one entry per snapshot), and the other containing info about specific windows. The second major change is the collector’s new UI. It was a relatively small addition, but it makes the whole experience a lot smoother. It also uses the same UI library I was already using to get the monitor configuration which was nice. Finally, the dashboard now stores the database in cache so everything is preserved when you reload. This change was mostly for me, because having to re-upload the file every time I changed the code got really annoying. What’s Next There’s a few finishing touches I need to add before shipping, Specifically: Compatibility (KDE only right now) Config options (Snapshot frequency, apps to ignore, etc) Possibly more window features yap I definitely could have done all this way faster but I spent a lot of time fiddling, trying to fully understand everything. Day 1 Making an app to track a bunch of data about how i use my computer. Currently trying to make a heatmap of where i click the most. No UI yet because getting the mouse position on Wayland took wayyy too long to figure out
Day 2 Continuing work on my data collection project. Yesterday finished the core of the first feature — a click heatmap. Today was mostly polish and fixing the structure to make shipping easier when the time comes. Changes Organisation Instead of having everything in one big ugly python file, I created a module and separated all each part into it’s own file. This will make things much easier as I continue to add new features. As well as organising the python code, the project uses a JavaScript script to get the position of the mouse, and a bash script to run it. Neither of these can be packaged, so I updated the code to generate the JS file in the user’s share directory and run it directly from python. This is still the case, but I added the structure to detect the WM and adjust for it. I plan on adding support for other’s in the coming days Storage All data is now stored persistently in an SQLite database. In the future this will be read and displayed by the dashboard program. What’s Next Create the dashboard to start displaying data Expand compatibility to other Linux systems (might take a while)
Day 3 - Dashboard Today I started making the dashboard, to present the data. I decided to make it a website and have the user upload their data. This makes demoing a lot easier, as well as being good for compatibility. Right now it’s a very bare bones prototype with only a heatmap, but all the set up for reading the data should be finished, which means I can focus on polishing the UI and adding features. I also fixed some bugs in the backend. Previously the code would fail if your mouse disconnected, but now it can handle disconnects and reconnects, as well as detect multiple mice at the same time.
Day 4 - Cleanup Changes Cleaned up the UI a lot. I like the new heatmap visualization a lot, but it’s a bit slow so I’ll continue to experiment with it. I optimized the backend a lot, it used to block a full CPU core but now it sleeps properly when idling. I also expanded compatibility to other Linux environments. This was actually way simpler than I expected, I just happened to start with KDE which is really complex for some reason. Notes The dashboard is now live on my website , which you can test with this sample data . My aim right now is to get the project ship-ready, and then add features one by one.
Days 5 + 6? Changes I added filters for time and button type to make it more interactive. I also added new charts, specifically pie charts for button and monitor usage, and bar charts for hourly and daily activity. I used chart.js to make the charts, because it makes the programming way simpler while still giving me full control. The final change was reworking the heatmap again. instead of each click being an individual element, they’re now drawn on a canvas which boosts performance significantly. Try it! What’s Next Now that the dashboard is mostly finished. I want to add some quality of life things (namely caching the database so I don’t have to reupload it every time) before adding the next feature. Speaking of, the next feature is going to track what applications are open at what times, which I think will make for some really interesting data.
Day ?? - New Features! After 15 hours (got a bit carried away) the next feature is (mostly) finished! You can now monitor and display window data. Every 5 minutes, the collector logs what apps are open and their positions on screen, which you can then visualize on the dashboard. I thought it would be interesting to combine the click data and the window data in some way, but I decided against it. The reason being that I technically don’t know what app the user clicked since it could have changed in the 5 minutes. Now between the KWin scripts and the dashboard I have a much deeper understanding of Javascript than before which will help in the future. Hopefully I can ship this today or tomorrow so I can start working on my next project
FINISHED Its finally finished! If you don’t know, I’ve been making an app to track information about how I use my computer, and a companion website to display the data. Right now, it logs every click, as well as the positions and dimensions of apps every 5 minutes. The dashboard website then displays that data in a variety of interesting ways. Devlogs:
Implemented basic functionality (no gui so i just screenshotted the code)
Added subcommands
Added backwards movement with “..”, fixed the init so you can just add ‘eval “$(jcd init)”’ to .zshrc or .bashrc
Add little functions like absolute paths, “-” to go to previous directory, a help message, …
Added a custom alias and a custom back string so you can enter “,” for example to go one directory up instead of “..”
Added a custom matching strictness config option for people who make a lot of typos, readme overhaul
I added support for symlinks that point to directories and updated compatibility so jcd now works with filesystems that don’t support d_type (like XFS) by using c stat as a fallback
The project was kinda messy, so I solved it. I removed a segfault when trying to navigate empty directories, made the error message have cleaner paths when the directory was not found, added malloc checking and clarified an error message further.

The project started from a desire to control servos connected to an Arduino Nano from a Raspberry Pi while maintaining a familiar Arduino programming experience. After evaluating both PyFirmata and PyFirmata2, I chose PyFirmata2 due to better compatibility with modern Python versions and because it worked without requiring users to manually modify library source files. The first milestone was creating a simple wrapper around PyFirmata2. This wrapper hides Firmata-specific syntax and instead exposes a cleaner Arduino-inspired API. The goal was to make servo control feel similar to programming directly on an Arduino (which is very simple as compared to the default PyFirmata and PyFirmata2 syntax) while still running Python code on a Raspberry Pi. Once the basic functionality was working, I implemented a global board system so that users would not need to repeatedly pass board objects into every function call. This made the library feel much closer to Arduino’s native Servo library and simplified the user experience. After the initial release (v0.1.0), I expanded the functionality for v0.2.0 by adding several new features: Servo.read() Servo.detach() Servo.move_smooth() Servo.sweep() Improved error handling Servo angle validation and clamping Internal servo position tracking A significant portion of the development process involved testing on real hardware. The library was validated using a Raspberry Pi 4 connected to an Arduino Nano running StandardFirmata, with a servo motor attached for testing. This ensured that the library worked correctly in a practical robotics environment rather than only in theory. Following successful testing, I packaged the project using modern Python packaging standards with pyproject.toml, created a GitHub repository, and configured automated publishing to PyPI using GitHub Actions. The most exciting milestone of the session was successfully publishing the library to PyPI. By creating a GitHub Release, the workflow automatically built and uploaded the package, making it publicly installable through pip. This established a complete development, testing, and deployment pipeline for future releases. This session transformed the project from a simple idea into a functional, publicly available Python package with real hardware validation and automated deployment. Future development will focus on improving the servo control experience by adding more advanced servo-related features, refining the API, improving reliability, and expanding the library while maintaining its simple Arduino-inspired programming style. The goal is to provide the easiest and most intuitive way to control servos from Python using Arduino boards flashed with StandardFirmata program. (The Image shows Servo motor and N20 motors (via the TB6612FNG motor driver) connected to an Arduino Nano, which is then connected to a Raspberry Pi, and this was the setup I used to test this wrapper)"}]...

Heyyyy coders! I am making a web OS Named Formula1 OS as name suggests my theme is based on Formula1 cars. I am aiming to add some advanced app with a interactive clock and music player openable and closable when double tapped in their icons. For now i have created basic structure and 2 apps (Notes and Contact).
I wanted to add some more apps and i added 3 more apps named my projects, weather center and music. adding music app was real challenge because it’s complicated code it’s my first time working on api that involves visual changes in html ( it’s my first time making a website that uses API calls).
I added tow more apps in my OS! I added calculator (it’s odd to add calculator ‘after’ those apps) and an AI for my OS which uses gemini API. Well adding AI was easier than i thought but after i added my AI my OS started glitching and to stop it i have to add a cross button in each app to close ap( before they were closing wit double taping their icons).
Finally fixed my all errors and pushed it to github and nest server

The app includes: Weekly bar chart that shows your screen time which you can navigate by week A breakdown table that shows you your screentime per app with icons A settings panel which includes settings such as tracking interval, how much data to keep, startup on launch, background running, and dark mode Data is stored locally in JSON files and is never sent anywhere What was challenging The hardest part was getting the app ready to distribute for others since there were issues with versions not being compatible between all the different modules I used and there not being much information available online to troubleshoot properly. How to test it Download the zip from the releases page and extract it Run Windows Screen Time Tracker.exe Open a few different apps and use them for a minute or two each Come back and check the chart and table where you should see your usage broken down by app with accurate times Try the settings panel to change the tracking interval or toggle dark mode by clicking the button", "repo": "https://github.com/amish410/WindowsScreenTimeTracker", "demo": "https://github.com/amish410/WindowsScreenTimeTracker/releases/tag/v1.0.0"}]...

Devlogs:
I created a GitHub repository and decided to build this as a desktop app that runs in the background. After researching my options, I chose Electron because it lets me build the UI with HTML and CSS and create the backend/frontend with JavaScript while still allowing it to be used as an application. I used Electron Forge as a project template to start the application. For tracking the screentime, I used the paymoapp/active-window package, which checks the active window every 5 seconds and logs the time to a local JSON file with the app name, date, and time. The app automatically saves every 30 seconds and clears out any data older than 14 days.
Displayed data from JSON file on the webpage in a table format Added the app icons to the webpage Converted the time from seconds to hours/minutes and formatted it Sorted the time in order of longest to shortest Added basic styling to the page, which will be updated later
Additions Added styling to the table and the overall app Added a total at the bottom of the table that shows total time throughout the whole day Added the name of the device for which screen time is being tracked under the main header
Devlog #4 Additions Used chart.js to add a chart displaying total screen time during the current week The x-axis shows the days of the week, where blank boxes indicate that day hasn’t occured yet or there is no screen time The y-axis goes in increments of 30 minutes and automatically shortens or lengthens based off of your maximum screen time Hovering over the bar displays the total screen time as the table does below Time and days are now automatically tracked in local time instead of UTC Planned Updates Styling for the chart to better match the rest of the website A refresh button that refreshes the data instead of having to reopen or restart the app Screentime history that lets you see your screen time for the past week and possibly more Clicking on a day will also update the table to show your specific app usages for that day.
Devlog #5 Additions Added the refresh button that refreshes the data on both the table and the chart when clicked Added the day for which the data is being displayed at the top of the chart with day of the week and the long date Added the two arrow key buttons on either side of the chart that currently don’t do anything when clicked Changed the times so they no longer say 0s if there is already a minutes and hours time (ie: 2h 34m 0s to 2h 34m) Added styling to the buttons, which makes them have a shadow and glide up and down when hovered over Changed the color of the chart to better match the rest of the website Future Updates Adding functionality to the arrow buttons to move between weeks when clicked Changing the table to show the data for each day when clicking on different days of the week from the chart Making the application look nicer overall and more lively Bug fixes so the time is tracked more accurately (like not tracking time on the desktop home screen) Possibly adding a dropdown menu to show which specific tabs/websites were viewed and for how long (ie: Youtube - 2 hours) Making it a downloadable app that others can also use
Devlog #6 Additions Added functionality to arrow buttons that moves between available weeks of data Arrow buttons are grayed out if there is no more data available to be viewed Clicking on different bars of the bar chart now updates the table and the date to show that specific screentime per app for that date Moved the date under the chart and above the table in line with the refresh button Added the week of above the chart, which shows which week of data the chart shows Planned Updates Additional styling for the chart, such as font of numbers Adding new icons and stuff so the app is less bland/boring Fixing bugs, like if no window is detected it doesn’t give an error Finding and changing the logo for the site and the name Making sure the sizing is automatically adaptive to different screen sizes and changes as the screen changes (the chart mainly) Figuring out how to make it so others can download it Maybe dropdown menu if it works out Maybe additional color options like a dark mode Updating README and project info
Devlog #7 Additions Added custom titlebar at the top with appropriate close, maximize, and minimize buttons Updated scrollbar on the screen to better match the website in terms of styling Changed the layout of the title header to now have the text left-aligned Added two new buttons, one for setting and one for darkmode (might change) on the right side (currently no functionality) Used lucide to get icons for the buttons Updated the font for the chart and the text size Added a footer on the bottom Changed the app name to Windows Screen Time Tracker Fixed any errors that would show up if no active window is detected Planned updates Adding functionality to the buttons Updating the app logo Updating the ReadMe Better organizing code and getting rid of unnecessary things/optimizing Making the chart and other elements auto-adapt to size changes Figuring out how to make it a downloadable app
Devlog #8 Additions Added the UI for the settings tab that opens a pop-up showing many settings. Settings include “Launch on Startup,” “Minimize on Close,” “Tracking Interval,” “How many weeks of data to keep,” and a “Reset Data” button. Only the tracking interval has functionality and works as of now Created a slider for the yes or no settings that has a smooth animation/slide Added an input box for other questions with variable settings and a prompt for how to enter settings in Made the chart and table elements auto-adapt to changes in screen size. Planned Updates Add functionality to all other settings Design the reset data button and add functionality Add functionality to dark mode button Make it so settings save even if the app is closed Add some more settings like downloading data, etc. Make the app downloadable for others to use Optimize and organize the code to be more readable and better in general Update ReadMe Update project info Find and add a logo for the website
Devlog #9 Additions Added styling to reset button Added the launch on startup and run in background settings that work as said in the names Added tracking interval and how many weeks to keep to decide when to track the data and how much to store Added warning that show what the correct input should be if incorrect input is given Added the reset button functionality that provides a native pop-up to confirm reset before deleting all data Stored settings in a JSON file to save them even after app has been closed Fixed styling and spacing irregularities throughout the app Planned Updates Add functionality to dark mode button Add some more settings like downloading data, etc. Make the app downloadable for others to use Optimize and organize the code to be more readable and better in general Update ReadMe and project info Find and add a logo for the website
Devlog #10 Additions Added functionality to the dark mode button, which completely changes the background styling Clicking the dark mode button changes the icon to a moon vs a sun on light mode Created a whole new color scheme for dark mode Added dark mode as an automatically saved setting that loads on default upon load Painfully fixed bugs related with storing it as a new setting (mostly due to organization of code and structure) Added new lucide chevron icons for the chart arrow keys Fixed issues with the scroll bar when opening settings pop-up Planned Updates Add some more settings like downloading data, etc. (maybe) Make the app downloadable for others to use Optimize and organize the code to be more readable and better in general Update ReadMe and project info Find and add a logo for the website
Devlog #11 Additions Painfully figured out how to make the app downloadable for others to use after issues with packaging the app with electron due to version issues Some code improvements to be more readable and better in general Updated ReadMe and project info Found and added a logo for the website Finished project and ready for ship #1

Windows Screen Time Tracker I built a Windows desktop app that automatically tracks, logs, and visualizes how much time you spend in each application. What it does The app runs silently in the background and logs your active window every few seconds. Over time it shows you a picture of how you spend your time on your PC. How to test it Download the zip from the releases page and extract it Run Windows Screen Time Tracker.exe Open a few different apps and use them for a minute or two each Come back and check the chart and table where you should see your usage broken down by app with accurate times Try the settings panel to change the tracking interval or toggle dark mode by clicking the button...

It simply stores the whole content of the folder and saves them under .gos/usr_Templates is the home directory I have a added the gosget command that uses two flags: -p as the project name and the -e , where you give the template name that was stored in usr_Templates . It fetches the template from that folder and pastes it in the current directory with the name that you have entered i n -p I have added a --list flag that shows all premade project structures I have added gosdir that is a mkdir like command for making new directories. it user -m flag and the folder name of the new folder READ THE README.md under “After Installation” section to find a way to make this commands shorter and more easy and faster to type , you’ll have to change things in .bashrc Support Gos works just fine on mac and linux and also wsl on windows but on windows you may lack the alias feature to make the commands shorter Things you need to know!! A lil knowledge about Linux and configuration script for shells like .bashrc will help you if you dont know about it. It’ll be fine for other users(– ppl who say ‘i use arch btw’) If your not able to figure out things or it dosen’t workout for you because it feels a little complicated then you can skip the project or use AI to help you with initialization Things I found challenging I’ve always felt challenging to make this simple project also simple to use for other users thats the reason we are using alias for now as it helps shorten the command( Very helpful is you downloaded the package form the AUR) What im proud of I’m proud of the thing that i didn’t quit while making this project or burnout because the largest part of my day goes to my intermidiate clg ( 11hrs and 30 mins , also adding the traveling time) because my parents thing a school that works for more time will teach me more things lol I wanna work on big projects that are complex and fun but im not able to most of the times How I wanna improve I wanna improve my understanding about code and problem solving skills so that I’ll be able to work on those big and complex projects THANKS FOR READING, LOVE Y”ALL = )", "repo": "https://github.com/lxsh-S/gos", "demo": "https://github.com/lxsh-S/gos/releases/"}, {"ship_num": 2, "ts": "2026-07-12T21:04:20Z", "hours": 6.0, "multiplier": 7.56, "payout": 42, "blessing": "neutral", "text": "Intro This is “gos” a CLi tool that helps you strucutre your projects. If anyone did face them too can you please tell me? One guy asked me why did I name Gos as gos so for you: The name Gos can be broken down like this : D Gos \"Go\" --> The language 'Golang' \"s\" --> from 'Structure' The first name that I had thought for was Gostruc . But it felt too big to type in the terminal when compared to mkdir and tree I’m also thinking about adding a tree like command in this project. Can you guys tell if I should do that ? I also added a --list flag to see the project structure types for all the languages supported buy gofie. Issues I faced One of the dumbest issues were that I was not updating .SRCINFO with the new PKGBUILD . Got that running easily And other issue also happened with the url of my project as I had changed the name from [Gostruc] to [Gos] before linking it here the remote was set to the old url till now which was causing some error 128 with github actions What I have learnt I have learnt to work with github actions and goreleaser to automate the deployment of my little project Gos . Although I still get confused seeing the automation process becuase im not very well into it : Note Although Gos is available on the AUR (Arch User Repository) but I’ll never most likely recommend people using that way to install in on their systems cuz it will most of the times download the old version of gos ( Ofc it dosent happen all the time but ig there is a delay in my CD workflow) I recommend using Go to download it (Atleast for now, i’m working for AUR :)) – byee"}, {"post_id": 30192, "ts": "2026-07-17T15:49:56Z", "hours": 1.315, "text": "GOS DEVLOG #6 (Lol im sorry im not good at devlogs :)) Yesterday I finnaly uploaded my package to the AUR (Arch User Repository) You can download it by running:- yay -S gos-bin I’m now going to work on a CD for the project because man this deployment is very tiring (Im new and a noob) :)"}, {"post_id": 29026, "ts": "2026-07-15T17:53:32Z", "hours": 1.145, "text": "GOS DEVLOG-5 I’ve added CI with a lil help from google and Claude CD will be pretty useful when I push to a package manager I’ve also wrote a proper quickstart and file and also added file strucutre to README.md"}, {"post_id": 27354, "ts": "2026-07-12T20:56:28Z", "hours": 0.3706, "text": "Gos I have worked on fixing some bugs but had managed to make it even worse so had to scrap that idea and jsut post a demo TL;DR of [gos] as of today A simple CLI project that can be used for project structuring It supports project strucutres for 3 languages as of now: Typescript Golang C++ byee :)"}, {"post_id": 25871, "ts": "2026-07-10T11:01:44Z", "hours": 0.7628, "text": "Finnaly!! Mann I lovee building CLI’s!! Maybe because i’m too lazy to go into web dev or smtg Anyways, This is gos whose function is build a project structure with one command. Currently it only builds a proper folder structure for Go projects. I’m looking forward to add other type too There’s not much to say because it’s a simple and easy project but i’m building this because i’ll be using it too Man..it’s getting harder for me to manage my 11th, gym and coding. Gos I have been working on this project for 4 days today But because this is a simple project I have not experienced much new things (I don’t have enough time to build large projects because of my school and exams; If I do I think I’m gonna burnout :)) Updates I have added support for different languages (cpp, go, typescript) Also, added project structure types in each language: Go -> API, Web and Standard project types TypeScript -> API, NextJS, Library and Standard project types Cpp -> App/Game, Library and Standard project types This project till now has helped me: Learn how ‘go install’ works as I faced problems with how it’s cache works Learn the use of tags in github Signing out…. – lxsh-S
Finnaly!! Fixed that annoying issue of projects with wrong types but still having standard strucutre Nothing much –byee :) Ohh wait How I fixed it The issue was because i used switch cases butt never returned any error from the project blueprint After returningg an error and normally handling it in create folder As this type of errors can also occur in language flag too I have fixed it by making the default switch as an error
Gos I have worked on fixing some bugs but had managed to make it even worse so had to scrap that idea and jsut post a demo TL;DR of [gos] as of today A simple CLI project that can be used for project structuring It supports project strucutres for 3 languages as of now: Typescript Golang C++ byee :)
GOS DEVLOG-5 I’ve added CI with a lil help from google and Claude CD will be pretty useful when I push to a package manager I’ve also wrote a proper quickstart and file and also added file strucutre to README.md
GOS DEVLOG #6 (Lol im sorry im not good at devlogs :)) Yesterday I finnaly uploaded my package to the AUR (Arch User Repository) You can download it by running:- yay -S gos-bin I’m now going to work on a CD for the project because man this deployment is very tiring (Im new and a noob) :)
GOS DEVLOG 7 Features I have finnay got the CD workflow working with the help of some research the old google way but as it was taking too much time I again tried using claude and it helped me do the work very quick! GOS DEVLOG 8 Updates I’ve added files to the project structure in Golang and Cpp I’ve done it using Templates in templates/ dir I’ve embeded the files into the binary using embed in Go I’ve fixed the AUR problems and now it works perfectly Now there is a proper boilerplate for each project type in both the languages now Next Plan I’ll be adding files to Typescript project strucutres next How to Update Gos To update gos: - yay -S gos-bin Then when it asks Packages to Clean Build select All by typing A and Install it It’ll be updated to the latest version ###Other things Lol, when i used embed now it decreased the binary size from 2.24 mb to 1.09 mb I’ve also added v0.6.5.md for the voters of Ship#1 although I have asked a reviewer if I can scrap that Ship and just make a new ship from the new versions of Gos. Les see what happens –Bye
GOS DEVLOG 9 Updates I’ve added files support for Typescript Now all three languages have proper boiler plates for their different Project types In the latest version of Gos 0.8.5 What I want to change As I’m not a pro 10x developer or something most of my code is repeated and I don’t know why but it doesn’t feel that right to me. So I’ll be thinking of a different approach for sometime Things I wanna add I’m thinking about gos should also initialize a Git repository when a user creates a project I’m also thinking about adding JavaScript and C support to Gos I wanna make adding new languages to the project a little easier if i don’t get too lazy to do that I also wanna integrate default unix command like mkdir , tree to Gos. So that it feels more functional and less useless – byee :)
GOS DEVLOG 10 I’ve added mkdir thingy to the project but it feels so useless lol = ) Idk where Im gonna take this project now lets see – byeee
GOS DEVLOG 11 I’ve read the reviews by you guys and have found out that: Gos needs to have a way so that the user is able add their own templates Few ppl also said that initializing a git repo when making a project will be very helpful One review was about some bugs that he face in the tool I dont know what he had faced because the version that I had shipped was 0.6.5 and I’m currently working on 0.9.0 . If anyone did face them too can you please tell me? One guy asked me why did I name Gos as gos so for you: The name Gos can be broken down like this : D Gos "Go" --> The language 'Golang' "s" --> from 'Structure' The first name that I had thought for was Gostruc . But it felt too big to type in the terminal when compared to mkdir and tree I’m also thinking about adding a tree like command in this project. Can you guys tell if I should do that ? I really appretiate your reviews guys and I’ll be working on improving this project. Hoping that it stays a little relevant :( – Bye
GOS DEVLOG 12 I’ve made it so that when you run the newest version 0.9.1 which I havent released yet. It automatically creates a .gos folder in the user’s home directory and it’ll be the place where is store custom templates made by the user I still dont know I’ve to figure out how do we walk through the current directory and store in the usr_Templates and somehow copy paste it when the user requests that specific template Other I still haven’t worked on the project properly due to my school. I currently have 9 hrs to figure out how we are going to move forward = )
GOS DEVLOG 13 On the last devlog I had gos making .gos folder in the homedirectory of the user where it stores custom templates made by the user What I have got new I have added two new features: gosadd gosget -[ gosadd ] We use the this command to add any folder as a template that we can later use with a different command We have got a -a flag to add to folder. Although we wont be using this flags because I have got a way to make it easier and faster to type in the terminal and have given the solution in README.md in [After installation] -[ goget ] We use this command to fetch the copied folder from .gos/usr_Templates to the current directory we are on “gosget” uses two flags: – -p –> We use this to give in the new name of the template folder that will be saved in the current directory – -e –> We use this to get the correct template that we have stored Both -p and -e default values are an empty string so passing a value in necessary for it to work
Ships:
Intro This is “gos” a CLi tool that helps you strucutre your projects. This is still in it’s bare bones phase but feels a lil complete for a small hobby project Challenging part The parts I have found challenging are to understand where and how to handle errors. I’ve still not fixed some of them. Not sure To use and try this project you must have installed go on your system And as i work with linux i dont think this will be able to be used in windows pc’s. Dont know about wsl tho. Installation Note :- Need go to be installed go install github.com/lxsh-S/gos@latest
SHIP 2 This maybe long but read it please :) I’ve improved gos by reading the reviews on the first ship and some little things that I’ve added my self New features I have made gos to make a .gos folder in the home directory of the user where he/she/they can store their custom templates using gosadd in the folder usr_Templates I have added the gosadd command that uses -a flag with the folder name that you want to turn as a template. It’ll be fine for other users(– ppl who say ‘i use arch btw’) If your not able to figure out things or it dosen’t workout for you because it feels a little complicated then you can skip the project or use AI to help you with initialization Things I found challenging I’ve always felt challenging to make this simple project also simple to use for other users thats the reason we are using alias for now as it helps shorten the command( Very helpful is you downloaded the package form the AUR) What im proud of I’m proud of the thing that i didn’t quit while making this project or burnout because the largest part of my day goes to my intermidiate clg ( 11hrs and 30 mins , also adding the traveling time) because my parents thing a school that works for more time will teach me more things lol I wanna work on big projects that are complex and fun but im not able to most of the times How I wanna improve I wanna improve my understanding about code and problem solving skills so that I’ll be able to work on those big and complex projects THANKS FOR READING, LOVE Y”ALL = )...
