Here I am again! Back to my personal page that’s quite old at this point. Almost a whole year without posting! Time to change that. What technology am I using? I am using Jekyll for page generation. Jekyll’s charm is very simple - it requires everything to be written in Markdown, while the template for a site can just be taken from elsewhere and modified (by editing or adding your own Markdown files). Super useful and super easy for anyone who doesn’t want to mess around setting up a Wordpress machine, but loves to tinker a bit. THAT SAID - modifying the themes can sometimes be painful, as they’re not frequently updated. I got lucky - my chosen template wasn’t too cluttered up, but I remember having to put in some work to clean and update it to a usable, production-ready state. The thing I am happy about though is my Docker workflow. It’s very convenient - lets me preview my page after editing anything locally. And rebuilds the container extremely fast too! Since I said it’s not a new project, well then what IS new? Glad you asked! I always missed a “Featured Projects” section and I want to shape this site not only for projects, but also standalone blogs. Now it was shaped to act only as a project showcase, but there are other things I’m passionate about. What exactly am I planning to add next? First of all: My pile of projects that I have finished to a usable state, but never showcased. They deserve more attention. A couple of blogs. I recently discovered that the old model Pebble Steel still works due to massive preservation efforts and I’m looking forward to getting the new Pebble Time 2, whch is a part of the reboot, also some Raspberry Pi and Alpine/Matcha Linux findings. Devlogs:
Cleaned up code for GitHub and added a Readme (finally). Still working on documentation and better comments but at least now it looks presentable on Github
Documented most of my code (Just wanted to clear it up before I go on a break for a bit) -Planning many new features when I get back
What is value? One of the most common ways to determine the value of a company is to use a discounted cash flow model (DCF). This is what the new agents will be using to trade. Implementing this first requires an extension of the simulator I’ve created. A company and a world class will be created where various items (such as earnings and interest rates) will be set and allowed to flow to the simulator class. After that, agent will use a DCF model to determine if the stock is worth buying or not. Coming Soon (hopefully in the next 2 weeks)
More Complex Structures Added a world and a company class: World: Mimics a financial world, which has a business cycle and interest rates which follow a sinusodial pattern Company: Uses the info in the world class to generate mock earnings. All this info will be needed in order for agents to be able to use the DCF model to trade better.
Finished DCF model Finally finished making somewhat intelligent agents which use the dcf model in order to make trades Added a world and company class –> They generate interest rates and FCF earnings respectively This info then gets fed into the agent context window (ctx) The agent then uses the DCF formula to make a trade Works (fairly) well
Cleaned up code and ran some final tests

This is a stock market simulator. I built it in c++ and it aims to simulate a stock market using Agents which can generate orders that are executed. It is a fairly static project, where key resources and constants are determined before compiling by the user, and the main goal is to generate csv files of data which can be processed and analyzed. I encourage you to play around with the figures in config.h in order to see what different values do with the simulator. To use this, due to the lack of other options, you must download and compile the repo locally....

Fixed that, then made the upload box actually prompt you to sign in instead of just… doing nothing when you’re logged out. After that I gave the whole site a real visual identity instead of the generic AI-startup look it had - leaned into a blueprint/drafting theme since it fits an architecture tool, ditched the soft gradient blobs for a grid background, and rebuilt all the buttons with a chunky neo brutalist shadow style. Also added dark mode from scratch - toggle in the navbar, remembers your preference, styled across every page - and caught a dumb bug along the way where one page’s card was using the wrong color variable and turned into an unreadable white blob in dark mode. Fixed: The Puter consent popup was getting shown to all visitors, instantly Discovered that the getCurrentUser() function is executing puter.auth.getUser() every time the page loads, for every single visitor, including those who haven’t signed in at all. This was triggering the Puter consent modal asking whether the user consents to seeing “this site uses Puter”. Fixed by adding an additional call to puter.auth.isSignedIn(), a synchronous function that doesn’t require network access, which checks if a session already exists. Users who aren’t logged in get directed straight to the homepage now. Fixed: Regeneration with a different style required a refresh. This was due to double invocation of the setCurrentImage() method, which overrode the just-completed AI-rendered image with the stored hosted URL. Removed the redundant call, so that the UI respects the freshly generated image. Improved the “no text in renders” requirement. Some renders featured room labels like “Bathroom” or “Bedroom”. Re-wrote the prompt to the AI, putting text-removal above all other rules, emphasizing that the room label informs furniture choices but should not be present itself, and instructing the AI to include the self-check step in the result. I also added a Floor plan template on draw page because not everyone wants to start from a blank canvas, so I added 5 starter templates (Studio, 1-Bedroom, 2-Bedroom, Open Loft, Family Home) built with tldraw’s shape API. One click loads a labeled room layout onto the canvas, which you can edit and all before generating the 3D render. Additionally, I added a hint for new users, so they immediately understand that they need to draw and generate instead of just thinking it’s blank canvas not knowing what to do. Fixed: logged-out visitors couldn’t see Community at all This is an issue that had a greater depth than it appeared to be. All calls made through the workers.exec() of Puter’s automatically attach the user’s session to the call. Although, this thoroughly works for authenticated actions, any calls made by un-logged-in users will not execute properly, even on routes that are not required to be authenticated on the server side. The read-only endpoints (public project list, and comments) were switched to plain fetch() calls, as they do not require a user session to execute in any way. Therefore, un-logged-in users can now browse the Community and view designs. Fixed: voting did nothing when logged out Similar to the above issue, there were simply no active buttons for guests to ‘vote’ at all. Now, when an un-logged-in visitor clicks on the Upvote / Downvote button (or tries to comment), it now brings up the Puter sign-in pop-up automatically. So, it allows for a real call to action rather than a ‘dead click’."}, {"post_id": 12934, "ts": "2026-06-21T05:24:55Z", "hours": 9.4869, "text": "WHAT’S NEW: Not everyone has a floor plan image lying around, so I added a full drawing canvas using tldraw. As a result, there are now clear differences between Modern/Industrial/Luxury styles, and the base wall geometric shapes are maintained no matter which style is used. De Title: VisionArch by @raslanyossif | Stardance
Devlogs:
I’m working on an architectural 3D design where you can upload your floor plan and edit it. Currently I did the Homepage and I’m working on being able to upload your floor plan.
In the video, I’ve made it to be able to upload your floor plan by drag and drop or simply clicking like what was shown in the video. I’ve faced some errors with branches mixing up. Also, next step will be hosting images.
Added a Projects list section, so everything is saved under that. I’ve been dealing with a bunch of errors that I’m fixing, took me time to find that specific error. Working on Hosting-Images in a branch and thinking of other ideas to come up with. This is my first big project that I did, so that may be the reason I’m facing many problems. However, everything is going good so far. Hope it becomes good when I have the end webpage.
I Implemented project persistence and retrieval functionality by introducing hosting utilities for image uploads, a project creation action that prepares and saves project data with hosted assets, enables dynamic project listing on the home page, and updates the visualizer to consume project state from router navigation. I faced multiple Errors where when I drag n drop a PNG file the loading freezes which took time to fix but made it work. The goal is to create a whole 3D architectural render of this boring 2D design. and also design this page itself and make it nicer.
A new AI-powered 3D visualization feature is introduced with fetchAsDataUrl and generate3DView functions in lib/ai/action.ts that integrate with puter.ai for image generation. The Visualizer route is enhanced with state management, automatic generation flow, and a complete UI redesign including navigation, project metadata render area and loading states.
This pull request introduces a backend project management system via a new Puter worker module that provides REST APIs for persisting, listing, and retrieving design projects. The frontend is updated to load projects on startup, handle project creation with persistence, and enable navigation between project visualization with stateful project data. Next, I’m planning on doing a comparison between before and after.
The pull request adds image export functionality and a before/after comparison slider to the visualizer route, expands WebP upload support, and introduces the react-compare-slider dependency. Configuration files and memory tracking are updated accordingly. Changes: Image Export & Comparison UI - Added HandleExport function to trigger PNG downloads of currentImage; introduced ReactCompareSlider UI panel to display before (sourceimage) and after (currentimage) comparison with conditional rendering; added react-compare-slider dependency. Upload Enchantment - Expanded accepted file types to include .webp format alongside existing .jpg, jpeg, and .png support. Workspace & Development Tracking - Rebalanced IDE ChangeListManager entries; added two new trajectory analysis entries documenting plans for handling sensitive env file history and cross-origin image downloads.
It’s been a TOUGH coding day :> WHAT’ NEW: Share/unshare system allows users to share files from their local ‘Storage’ with other users and vice versa. I learned that Puter’s data model has separate user (for their own files) and me (for shared/app files), which has taken me a number of attempts to understand. Added a confirmation dialog with custom styling to the delete function instead of a boring confirmation dialog. In the works are an upvote/downvote and threaded comment feature to allow users to vote on designs in the community similar to Reddit’s. Biggest debugging lesson of the day: CORS preflight requests need to define OPTIONS handlers on all routes, not just those that need CORS. One example was an attempt to resolve a CORS Access-Control-Allow-Methods header, which took so long to debug.
WHAT’S NEW: Not everyone has a floor plan image lying around, so I added a full drawing canvas using tldraw. You can now sketch a layout freehand, with shapes and text, then hit “Generate 3D Render” and it feeds straight into the same AI pipeline as an uploaded image. I recently discovered that my style picker feature (Modern/Minimalist/Industrial/Luxury) created random styled images as opposed to rendering the correct object from the actual floor plan and thus would just replace my existing prompt with a new one capable of producing an appropriate render. To remedy this issue, I created short style modifiers that will all be appending themselves to a single base prompt. As a result, there are now clear differences between Modern/Industrial/Luxury styles, and the base wall geometric shapes are maintained no matter which style is used. Still need to improve upon the Minimalist-style image as it still looks so close to the other styles due to its similarity with the original base aesthetic.
WHAT’S NEW Projects no longer have to stay stuck as “Residence 1239812737128.” Now you can simply click the title in the visualizer, and it becomes editable, just edit and hit enter to save. So, it allows for a real call to action rather than a ‘dead click’.
TIME FOR DEVLOG> was busy so I slowed down. Added README Credits, features, tech stack, architecture notes, local development instructions, Vercel deployment instructions. Next: going through the whole app end-to-end once more - code and UI - before calling this fully submitted
TIME FOR DEVLOG :> For VisionArch you can test it/ generate 4-5 times then you hit limit and need to wait for your limit to reset. Resolved issues regarding the progress bar which was working incorrectly. Introduced a new authorization guard to prevent unauthorized people from causing authentication issues upon webpage loading. Added a silent worker ping to ensure that the Puter worker is awake prior to requests and thereby eliminate cold starts with multiple CORS errors and 404s during access of community pages. Corrected the missing environment variables in local configuration and Vercel dashboard.
What was broken: Login/upload silently failed for signed-out users, and after signing in, the UI wouldn’t reflect it until a manual refresh. What you found: Console showed Cross-Origin-Opener-Policy policy would block the window.closed call - the site’s COOP header was preventing Puter’s auth popup from reporting back to the app. The fix: Added vercel.json with Cross-Origin-Opener-Policy: unsafe-none, plus made the upload dropzone and “Get Started” button properly prompt/guard sign-in instead of failing silently. Verified: Signed in -> UI updated instantly, no refresh -> uploaded a floor plan -> rendered correctly end-to-end.
Spent this session tracking down a login bug that had been bugging me - turns out a security header on my site was quietly blocking the auth popup from talking back to the app, so users had to refresh after signing in for it to actually register. Fun catch.
I decided to change the complete look of this website to something that feels a bit more housy vibe. and made the dark mode into green colored. fixed a bug for generating because each user has a limit, so this time once you reach your limit you will get a message.
Ships:
VisionArch is an AI-based architectural design software that allows users to upload 2D floor plans on the platform or draw them manually before receiving an instantaneous top-down 3D photo rendering of the plan. The new changes fixed the bug of the bar displaying incorrect progress, added an authentication blocker that prevents unauthorized users from causing backend errors, created a worker keep alive ping so there are no cold start CORS failures, and repaired missing environment variables, making API calls possible. To try it out, go to vision-arch-two.vercel.app, register using Puter, upload the floor plan, or use the Draw mode to draw the floor plan. After that, just hit Generate 3D Render. You can also share your renderings with other users and rate their projects in return....

That is a massive milestone for this project! Designing or printing a custom case is one of the most practical steps you can take, especially for a 3D printing setup. The ESP32-CAM module has a loose camera ribbon cable and exposed solder joints, so getting it into a protective enclosure keeps it safe from accidental shorts on the printer’s frame.
This project implements an efficient, event-driven web-streaming server using the Arduino IDE framework to flash custom firmware directly onto an ESP32-CAM chip. Written entirely in embedded C++, the code maximizes the hardware’s dual-core architecture by multi-tasking network delivery and raw camera data processing without relying on any external operating system or resource-heavy cloud services.

This is my first time ever doing art, and I quickly decided to do pixel art as it’s a lot easier than digital painting. I’ve made a few assets and am planning to do a lot more! In the beginning it was quite rough and my drawings looked terrible, but after a few days it turned out much better than I was expecting, and I even applied some Minecraft building concepts! Like, for example: Outline first, then color, then details. The final result won’t look good if the shape isn’t right. Details are what turns a good Minecraft build (or drawing, in this case) great. Once you think you’re done, think about what details you could add. Then repeat. You should be able to do this a lot more times than you think, and it’s how you improve your technique. The cat asset below took ~20 revisions. Use a reference image, or multiple. Don’t reinvent the wheel. Learn basic color theory, it’s really useful. Other than that, it just took some creativity and some trial and error."}]...

Hi voters! Stardance isn’t the greatest for devlogging art, so read my blog post instead! https://orangishcat.neocities.org/blog/personal-website/ after spending like 15 hours drawing assets and staring at a wall trying to think of stuff, i have finally started coding. not all the assets are done yet, but i need to start coding so i don’t keep staring at a wall… anyway, ima talk about coding. css grid is so cool! you can do all sorts of layouts so easily, and tailwindcss + css grid tricks make developing quite a breeze. really cool stuff!
Hi voters! Stardance isn’t the greatest for devlogging art, so read my blog post instead! https://orangishcat.neocities.org/blog/personal-website/ the website is pretty much done! All the content and whatnot is complete, I just need to add some blog posts to fill up the blog space!
Hi voters! Stardance isn’t the greatest for devlogging art, so read my blog post instead! https://orangishcat.neocities.org/blog/personal-website/ everything is done!!! I added background art with the Moon and stars, and added my blog posts to the right sidebar! it took like an hour to debug all the issues with the MDX integration and UI layout, but it was mostly successful and super worth it!
Hi voters! Stardance isn’t the greatest for devlogging art, so read my blog post instead! https://orangishcat.neocities.org/blog/personal-website/ Just some small changes since then. I’ve made the background less orange and instead blue. The orange theme was making the orange background look terrible, so I changed it to blue, which matches better with the color of a night sky. Updated the games list. As it turns out, there’s a lot of cool games out there! Added more links to the Links part of the sidebar.

My favorite project, and also the best one I’ve ever made! Please read my devlog for more details and easter eggs: https://orangishcat.neocities.org/blog/personal-website/...

The site is mostly done, I just need to touch up a few more things and then I need to tackle the issue of automatically building and deploying the site. My previous site used a github action to build and copy the site files over to my own server, but this pipeline fell apart for.. some reason. i don’t know why. I’m making a new pipeline that will use github webhooks to trigger builds of my website on my own server, avoiding some of the biggest pitfalls associated with github actions, and I’m making it with Rust. My pipeline will be powered by a little program I’m making called “minibuild”, a lightweight program that accepts webhook pushes, compares the secret token and signature, and then runs a script if they line up. Not only will this be exactly what I need for my site, but I’ll also be able to use it for any other project that requires this sort of setup. Once minibuild is done, I can finally deploy my new site!!!"}]...

Just finished making my website i used an open source model to simulated the geometery in the background and it looks so great. Hoping to add a feature where the website can be used to contact me lowk.

Basically just used a open source thingy i found on github, it looked cool so i had it saved for a project and it ended up being the backgroud for this one. I did use AI but really just for adding like effects to the text and improving the scrolling and overall effects all text CSS and everything else i all me. I made 3 sections and everything, the last section is a way to contact me but like i would need to set that up and all with a real website and buy a domain and allat...

It also scales up in difficulty much faster for convenience. I had to create a variable which holds which minigame needs to be repeated then linked it to the timer screen so whenever this variable ever has a value above 0, it repeats the desired minigame. Unfortunately, there won’t be a score mechanic for this mode as I deem it not too useful. This mode can only be accessed after completing the tutorial and clicking on the rift on the title screen. I decided that I should continue this project just a little longer because an extra six hours wouldn’t hurt. NEW MINIGAME!!!! I kept it simple this time where the objective is to drag a star across a designated path. I had to use Path2D and PathFollow nodes for this but tbh the PathFollow node was probably easier to use than I expected. Also made the star a seperate scene for easier management for direct changes to the sprite while leaving other elements intact (can this guy PLEASE stop waffling to make his devlog look longer and more detailed). preview attached Scaling I settled on making the game super easy at the start but then ramping up the scaling rate quite heavily. This lets the game be more accessible to everyone while still providing a challenge. As a result however, all new scores will be heavily inflated since I decided to leave the score system as it is. Anyway, let’s get into what I added: Scoreee Finally, I added a way to track your score and points are given based on each half a second left and there’s also a base completion amount. The extra points from beating minigames quickly causes the player (my friends so far) to just panic (which is good ofc). Clicking minigame I added a random position spawning mechanic for these buttons although they tend to clump still for no apparent reason. I don’t know if its simply how the rng works or there’s a bug. Display Resolution So um I didn’t realise during the whole development of this game, I was using a 1152 x 648 res 💀. Thankfully, it’s the same aspect ratio as 1920 x 1080 so I was able to scale it via Godot’s native settings. although, the quality is a bit rough in some places… New ending screen Originally, I was using the same lose screen upon death in free-play mode as the tutorial. So, I changed it because the core loop of a Wario-ware style game is to play until you die so it shouldn’t really count as losing. Instead, I made a new scene where your score is displayed. Asset finding I’ll be honest, finding assets was the worst experience of my whole life 😭. But after hours of searching JUST for backgrounds (those hours don’t get logged btw ✌️) I actually found some pretty decent ones. All of them are from Shiroze btw on itch.io so all credits to her! I also needed some assets for controls (I’ll talk about that later) but those were relatively easy to find. I also needed a graphic of a pixelated rift which I’ll be honest doesn’t even look that good but I needed something to fill the space on the title screen. I imported a font too. Importing assets I imported them 👍👍 Implementing the assets For the backgrounds, it was pretty quick and easy you just replace the file on the node that you already created from the guide. Then changing the fonts for text was quick however when using pixel art assets including the font you have to make sure you manually set the texturing filter to nearest to make sure your fonts/assets actually look good. AS for the controls I was talking about earlier, I implemented those into the loading screens prior to the following minigame that needs those controls. I’ll be honest I had to ask gemini how to create a fading effect but I got the hang of it myself in the end. ALSO, I changed the character sprite for the platformer and changed the minigame slightly itself. Things idk where to put I added the base of a settings screen (no settings yet) I want to credit Shiroze again for most of the assets! I’ll attach what some of the scenes look like. Also, I renamed the game to rifted rush because… it sounds cool idk 😭. What’s Next? Hopefully, using my grant for itch.io, I’m going to find some nice background music for the game as a whole because it’s too quiet right now. Additionally, I plan to add two new minigames and a freeplay mode (will be the main mode after tutorial) where you can try to get a high score! At the start, I ended up setting each node as a child to each other and debugging that was genuine horror 💀💀. I basically had to restart but I caught it early so it was fine. The guide helped significantly (as it should) but it was quite ambiguous at times. So far, I’ve implemented timers and life mechanics and have just started to implement the minigames. It was really fun to add my own personality into the game by embedding my interests into it. For example, I changed some textures like the garlic lives to mc textures. So, What Next? I hope to continue adding minigames and go beyond the guide. I plan for this to be my main project that I work through and add more features like leaderboard mechanics as time goes on. Here is a list of everything that I have added since the last Ship Features Breakpoints : press “F” to set a breakpoint at any address, the emulator halts the moment PC reaches it Watchpoints : same idea, but for memory Conditional Breakpoints : halt execution when a register (AC, XR, YR, SP) meets a comparison (!=, ==, >=, <=, >, <) against a target value Step Back : press “B” to rewind execution one instruction at a time, restoring the CPU and memory exactly as they were before Random Number Generator : a memory-mapped register at $BFF3 that returns a random byte from the host PC on every read, so ASM programs can have real random number Keybind Panel : a popup listing every keyboard shortcut and control, and removed the old footer keybind list to make room for it Demo Program Snake : updated to pull apple placement from the new RNG instead of the old pseudo random method ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧ What was challenging ? Wiring the conditional breakpoint into the run loop without breaking the existing breakpoint/watchpoint checks was harder than I though. Also getting a dropdown-style menu to choose the operator working in Ratatui was tought since there’s no native dropdown widget. So I ended up building a little spinner (▲ value ▼) that cycles through the operators instead ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧ What are you proud of ? I’m proud that my emulator now has real debugging tools like : breakpoints, watchpoints, conditional breakpoints, and step-back. What should people know so they can test your project ? A Nerd Font is recommended in your terminal for a better rendering of the UI icons on the Home page How to test: Install the emulator directly from crates.io by running: cargo install rust6502 Download all the .bin files on the GitHub Releases page. Launch the emulator by running rust6502 and use the built-in Home menu to select one of the demo .bin files! Things to try Load snake_demo.bin and play :D Set a breakpoint on an address inside a demo program (check the keybind panel for the shortcut!) and watch execution halt exactly there Try a conditional breakpoint : for example, halt whenever XR == 0F and watch it stop right when the register hits that value Press “B” to step backward and rewind the CPU state instruction by instruction Press the keybind panel shortcut to see the full list of controls", "repo": "https://github.com/wirenux/Rust-6502", "demo": "https://crates.io/crates/rust6502"}, {"ship_num": 2, "ts": "2026-08-08T15:59:06Z", "hours": 28.0, "multiplier": 17.86, "payout": 504, "blessing": "neutral", "text": "=== Rust 6502 === A MOS 6502 emulator TUI with a lot of features ============================================ Before reading this Ship you should take a look at Ship #1 == What did you add ? == Here is a list of everything that I have added since the last Ship = Features = Serial Monitor : you connect to localhost:8080 using netcat. Useful for the Apple 1 OS or for debugging with text. The monitor can be used to display text but also to send text like a keyboard (useful for the Apple 1 OS) PS/2 Keyboard : a full PS/2 keyboard emulation (used in Snake) Use the UI with a Mouse: On the Home Menu and in the Emulator you can click on button, toggle, scroll, etc… Interrupt : IRQ & NMI Tips in the Settings Panel Modify speed with Hz & MHz (like a real 6502 chip) Reset Vector: The emulator will look at $FFFC & $FFFD to find the start address of the program (when the Force Address toggle is off) Set PC Address: keyboard shortcut to change the position of the PC (Program Counter) = Demo Program = Apple 1 OS (Wozmon) : I have modified the orginal Apple 1 code to fit my emulator, like Serial Monitor address, Keyboard etc… Snake : Just the Snake game ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧ Keyboard Demo: Print every key press on the screen using a custom font Serial Monitor Demo: Show how the Serial Monitor works == What was challenging ? == The most challenging part of this 2nd ship was creating a Serial Monitor that works via a local port, and making a PS/2 Keyboard emulation. And of course, modifying the Apple 1 OS to make it work on this emulator ! (I was having a lot of bugs, so I rewrite a big part of the OS) ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧ == What are you proud of ? == I am really proud of my self for the implementation of the Serial monitor that run on different CPU thread than the emulator itself and the fact that it work via the local network. And beyond everything the fact that my emulator can run : games, utility and the Apple 1 OS !!! ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧ I’m also really proud that it’s officially published on crates.io. == What should people know so they can test your project ? == Note: A Nerd Font is recommended in your terminal emulator for a proper rendering of the UI icons on the Home page How to test: Install the emulator directly from crates.io by running: ================== cargo install rust6502 Download all the .bin files on the GitHub Releases page. You should see the documentation related to Wozmon : https://github.com/wirenux/Rust-6502/blob/main/AppleI.md Load keyboard_demo.bin to see every key you press show up on the 32x32 screen using a custom font The Debugger: go to the Settings menu inside the TUI and slow down the CPU speed. Instead of a standard graphical window, I built a Terminal User Interface (TUI) using Ratatui. Here is what’s inside: Full CPU Emulation: Execute 6502 machine code with live register (AC, XR, YR, SP) and status flag tracking Virtual Screen: A 32x32 memory-mapped display ($0200-$05FF) rendered right in the terminal using Unicode Half-Block and a custom 16-color palette Live Disassembler & Hex Viewer: Watch the RAM change in real-time and see the raw binary machine code translated back into readable assembly instructions on the fly Built-in File Browser: A visual menu with Nerd Font icons to navigate your system and load compiled .bin ROMs Available on crates.io : You can download it via Cargo == What was challenging ? == The Disassembler: Writing a disassembler that parses raw .bin files is tricky because they don’t have headers. I ran into a massive issue where my image data (using the color byte $0A) was being read by the disassembler as infinite ASL A (Shift Left) instructions! I had to engineer a way for the disassembler to properly halt when it hit a BRK instruction so it wouldn’t try to execute my pixel art. Terminal UI Architecture: Designing a dashboard (hex grids, scrolling stacks, changing colors) required a really solid state-management architecture to keep the UI smooth and responsive while the CPU loop spins at thousands of instructions per second. == What are you proud of ? == I am proud of using this project to learn Rust in a fun way! ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧ I’m also really proud that it’s officially published on crates.io, meaning anyone can install and run my emulator with a single command == What should people know so they can test your project ? == Note: A Nerd Font is recommended in your terminal emulator for a proper rendering of the UI icons on the Home page How to test: Install the emulator directly from crates.io by running: cargo install rust6502 Download all the .bin files on the GitHub Releases page. Added a panic hook, before when the program was crashing (for a bad ASM program by example) the terminal was still in RAW mode (so if you click, move the mouse etc… it will print a bunch of garbage number) but now it exit the raw mode in a clean way ! Remove unused import Change the start of the Stack Pointer to $1FFF Added a memory reset function Write a bunch of test programs Replace IPS (instruction per seconds) by Hz and MHz like in real life (so i’ve adapted the UI for the change) Now the disassembler disassemble the whole program (neat right ? ) using .len() . Devlogs:
Hi ! Right now in my project I have added : Bus with ram read & write function load from file function CPU All registry (a, x, y, sp, pc, sr) reset cpu function update Z & N flag function clock_tick with those opcode in it : BRK; DEY; TXA; TYA; TAY; LDA; TAX; INY; DEX; INX; NOP (1st screenshot is official emulator 2nd is mine)
I’ve added a new UI and AddressingMode
I’ve added a bunch of opcode like : STA, STX, STY (Zero Page, Absolute) LDX, LDY (Immediate, Zero Page, Absolute) JMP (Absolute), JMP (Indirect) (the screen shot is a new program that i’ve made and test on virtual 6502 and my project)
I’ve added those instruction: ADC (Add with Carry) CLC (Clear Carry Flag) SEC (Set Carry Flag) I’ve also made this little ASM 6502 program to test those opcode .org $8000 START: SEC ; to test CLC LDA #$FF ; A = 255 CLC ; Clear Carry Flag before addition ADC #$02 ; 255 + 2 = 1, Carry is now 1 (0x01FF + 0x0002 = 0x0201) STA $20 ; Store Low Byte result (01) at $20 LDA #$00 ; Load 0 for the high byte ADC #$00 ; 0 + 0 + 1 (Carry from previous instruction) = 1 STA $21 ; Store High Byte result (01) at $21 ; SEC use SEC ; Carry = 1 LDA #$01 ; A = 1 ADC #$00 ; 1 + 0 + 1 (Carry) = 2 BRK And it work just fine !
I’ve done a LOT of work. Added Opcodes: BEQ BNE SBC Immediate + Zeropage I’ve also done a lot of refractorisation. Code before : match opcode { 0x18 => { self .sr &= ! CPU :: CARRY_FLAG ; self .set_instr ( format! ( "{:02X}" , opcode ), "CLC" .to_string (), 2 ); }, // ... } VS now : match opcode { 0x18 => self .clc ( opcode ), // ... } So now every opcode have his own function !
Now there is a pop_stack function who return the top value of the stack (Last In First Out). I’ve also added those opcode : JSR RST And made this test code :
The now is new opcode ! : EOR ORA AND LDA (ZeroPageX) And some new AddressingMode : ZeroPageX AbsoluteX
New Opcode : PLA (Pull Accumulator) PHA (Push Accumulator) ASL memory LSR memory
There now is 4 new opcode: ROR ROL ROR Memory ROL Memory
✨ NEW OPCODE ✨ : PHP (Push Processor Status: push current value of all the flag to the stack) PLP (Pull Processor Status: pull current value of all the flag to the stack) But I have also add a memory dump with page (at the end of a program) to debug ! (1st screenshot) and i also add a fixed (address) memory viewer when running (2nd screenshot)
New opcode TXS (transfer X to stack pointer) TSX (transfer stack pointer to X) ldx_absolute_Y lda_indirect_x lda_indirect_y ldx_zeropage_y New Addressing Mode: AbsoluteY ZeroPageY IndirectX IndirectY
YAY I have added a BUNCH of new Opcodes : BCS BCC BPL BIT with ZeroPage & Absolute BMI BVC BVS
I’ve just passed 40min to fix an interruption problem to final look back and see that my original code what working perfectly fine 😭 . I’ve also change my build tools to ca65 + ld65
New opcode STA Absolute X
Add interruption with NMI + IRQ. Add option to the user to start at a specific address
New opcode time ! LDY ZeroPageX STA ZeroPageX AbsoluteY IndirectX IndirectY STX ZeroPageY Absolute STY ZeroPageX Absolute
I’m being closer and closer of getting all opcode and all Addressing mode implemented Here are the list of opcode I have implemented and there Addressing Mode: ADC Zeropage X Absolute Absolute X Absolute Y Indirect X Indirect Y AND Zeropage Zeropage X Absolute Absolute X Absolute Y Indirect X Indirect Y CMP Zeropage Zeropage X Absolute Absolute X Absolute Y Indirect X Indirect Y EOR Zeropage Zeropage X Absolute Absolute X Absolute Y Indirect X Indirect Y I also fixed the CLD instruction. I was doing a : cpu .sr | = ! CPU :: DECIMAL_FLAG ; but the right one was this: cpu .sr &= ! CPU :: DECIMAL_FLAG ;
I have fix some little print in 3-4 instruction and the IRQ function
YAY Now EVERY opcode and EVERY addressing mode are implemented 🎉 (wow 1478 lines of pure opcodes)
I am now making the TUI part of this emulator ! I am using Ratatui to make the TUI. This mean I have to change all the printing part of my existing program
I have made a program to disassemble the program so the code could be shown in the TUI. And it work !
YAY now the Flags can be shown ! Green Bold when active and Dark Gray classic when not
The UI is going forward one step after another ! I have changed a some little like the place where is the Flag Container, now it’s on the left side. And I also have added a LOT a things like: Register Container (under the Flag Container) Now when there is a JMP (or any type or jump like RST, etc…) the code indent it self Up and Down key move the cursor 🥁…. ✨UP & DOWN ✨ New color for the ADDR in the Opcode container Things I have removed: BYTES section in the Opcode container because I don’t think it’s really useful
I have clean the code a little bit 🧹 and added a RUN or PAUSED indicator :
I have tried to implement multi-threading but realize that it’s not worth it for a simple emulator like this one.
I have added a Stack Viewer on the left ! The container scroll it self when the “cursor”/current position of the Stack Pointer (SP). I also have fix the text for the SP in the register container
A lot has been going on ! I have added the Memory Viewer, Scroll bar to the Stack Viewer and Memory Viewer (work with the 🥁…. SCROLL WHEEL !). I also reduce the space taken by the opcode list so we can see the memory viewer !
I have fixed the cursor in the Stack Container to scroll automaticly when needed and when running. I also optimised the code !
I have added a top bar in the memory container with the last part of the address (to be more easy to read). I also fixed all the scroll bar from scrolling outside the container and just see nothings
Choosing between a variety of logo (2 first screen shot are in Apple Terminal the last is in ghostty with a Catpuccin Mocha theme)
New feature 🥁🥁🥁 ✨ THE SCREEN ✨ This was very very hard. The screen use the Unicode half-block character “▀”, to write to the screen you just need to send value like this : LDA #$02 ; load "02" into the accumulator STA $0200 ; store it at memory address $0200 (the 1st pixel) Here the 02 is the color RED. Here is the color palette: fn palette_color ( index : u8 ) -> Color { match index & 0x0F { 0 => Color :: Black , 1 => Color :: White , 2 => Color :: Red , 3 => Color :: Cyan , 4 => Color :: Magenta , 5 => Color :: Green , 6 => Color :: Blue , 7 => Color :: Yellow , 8 => Color :: Rgb ( 255 , 165 , 0 ), // Orange 9 => Color :: Rgb ( 153 , 76 , 0 ), // Brown 10 => Color :: DarkGray , 11 => Color :: Gray , 12 => Color :: LightRed , 13 => Color :: LightBlue , 14 => Color :: LightGreen , _ => Color :: Reset , // 15 transparent } } The color may vary between terminal theme. I also had created an ASM program to print a rainbow on the 1st quarter of the screen. I also added the feature that when a BRK instruction is hit the program turn to HALT mode (in the UI). I also added the indentation system to BEQ, BNE, BCC, BCS, BMI, BPL, BVC, BVS. I also added a new way of calculating the speed of the program.
Now the name of the file currently running is in the title. I also finished the rainbow program to fill the whole screen.
New panel 🥁🥁🥁…. the ✨ SETTINGS ✨ ! In this panel there is a smaller version of the Logo and the settings to modify the speed of the CPU. There is also the link to the github repo and stardance project
I have update the color from word to RGB value so if a different terminal theme is applied the color are the same. I also added a footer bar with the keybinds.
Now if I press R I can reset the program. I also modify the footer bar
New demo program… HelloWorld_demo ! Print Hello World ! centered on the screen all in pure 6502 Assembly. I also modified the way the disassembler work, now even if there is a BRK it will continue to read the file until the end. The ASM part was really really haaarrddd.
Wow that was damn hard 😭. But the Home Menu is finally here 🎉. There is the logo (might change). The select file container with full navigation (folder, parent directory, file), Icon (require a Nerd Font) and Colors. The selected file path update in real time with the absolute path of the file. The start address automatically change if the file selected is a demo file (end with “_demo.bin”) to $C000. The start address it editable with Alpha numeric character (hexadecimal). And the emulation speed work ! There is control on the footer bar.
WOW already 30 hours ?! 😅 I now have added the home logo ! I also changed the step for the speed selection on Home Menu from 500 to 100 for each step
Little bug fix: Now when we select a file in the Home File Selector the filename appear in the Opcode container. I have also reorganize the tui.rs code !
WOW 4h 😅 I have done the full README.md, documentation about the screen, color palette and fix some little bugs.
WOW 35H 🎉 I have added a file : DemoProgram.md to show all the demo program
I have added a new program called HackClub Logo First, I have draw the hackclub logo in aseprite with a 32x32 pixel file using my custom color palette. Second, I have created a simple python script who take a .png in input and output ASM raw data for the image (using my color palette). Third, I have create a simple ASM program to print the logo on the screen !
I have been writing a LOT of documentation on how to create a 6502 ASM program, Screen documentation. And the project is now published in version 1.0.0 on Github and Cargo https://github.com/wirenux/Rust-6502 https://crates.io/crates/rust6502
Last devlogs before Ship #1 Wow 37h of work. I have made an Asciinema video, Youtube video and update the README.md Wish me luck !
Ok so… it’s been 8h40 . I have done a lot (I mean it’s logic it’s been 8h and 40 minutes) In time order I have done : Replace self.pc + 1 to self.pc.wrapping_add(1) so it’s like on the real 6502 if the current PC is $FFFF and you add 1 it will be $0000 . (yes before it was an hard-coded number Optimize the screen render method. Before I was refreshing the screen even if nothings has been changed, now i check if somethings have been changed to update the screen Added address of each “quarter” of the screen in the screen documentation Fixed foreground and background color of the Frequency selector (on the Home Screen) Write a program to test IRQ and NMI Keybinds the I and N key to IRQ and NMI Changed the Hello World program to be rainbow The emulator will look by it self to the reset vector ( $FFFC and $FFFD ) to set the PC at the correct address Added a force address toggle to… force the the start address When the force addr toggle is off you can’t modify the start Addr and it’s darker Every file or folder who start by a . (dot) is not shown in the file selector Moved the hackclub logo raw binary data to a .inc file Added a self crashing test program (Next time I might add a PS/2 keyboard emulation… )
YAY ! Now there is mouse control on the home screen, this mean that you can click every where to change the focus and in the file explorer you can double-click to open a folder and double-click to open a file directly, you can also with a simple click enable or disable Force Address Mode
Wow that was… difficult . But now there is a PS/2 keyboard Emulation ! The I/O port is map on $BFF0-$BBF2. The PS/2 keyboard work with 3 addresses $BFF0 : KBD_DATA $BFF1 : KBD_STATUS $BFF2 : KBD_ACK To activate to keyboard in the emulator you can press on the screen container and to exit it just click anywhere else ! (The number you can see in the memory viewer at $0000 is the code from different key !) Maybe next time I will create a program to see each letter
I want to create a ASM program who print the pressed key to the screen, and for that I need to create the font/image for each key. There is ~100 key . So here is the first one !
Now there is all the number & lower case letter (a-z) & and the Space bar icon !
Okay soo….. it’s been 4 hours and 35 minutes . I have done so much and not that much at the same time (I know it’s weird ) I have added a demo program who print the pressed character ! I have spend 2 hours on a little bug but yeah now it’s working ! So with the program I drew all the key on a PS/2 keyboard . I also fixed some little inattention problem in my code. I also created a little python script to help me convert .png drawing into raw .inc value ! ( Did you find the secret phrase ?)
Wow, just WOW. I have added a serial monitor, and Apple 1 OS Serial Monitor Here is the way the monitor work, you load character to $BFE0 like this : lda #'A' sta $BFE0 Then you run the program in the emulator like normal, then you open another terminal and you connect to localhost port 8080 using netcat nc like this : nc 127.0.0.1 8080 And now if you already launch the program, when you connect to localhost ( 127.0.0.1 is localhost) you will see a A in your terminal ! You can also type in the serial monitor ! Here is a code that show the number of characters typed by using the pixels in the 32x32 screen ! start: ldx #$FF txs ldx #$00 main_loop: bit $BFE1 bpl main_loop lda $BFE0 sta $BFE0 lda #WHITE_COLOR sta $0200, x inx jmp main_loop Apple 1 This is a very damn big part. To be short, I have recreated the Apple 1 OS (Wozmon) created by Steve Wozniak. In short I took the code given in the Apple 1 User Manual, modify it to use the Serial Monitor and Keyboard, fix some issue with the prompt. I can even run the classic program from the manual to print all the available characters. With Wozmon you can also write and read data from the memory so you can show some pixel on the screen ! Here is the program running and the serial monitor.
After 1h50 I have added a Snake demo program that use the PS/2 keyboard !!! I also make a demo program to test the Serial Monitor using netcat nc
Little update, I added a Program Counter (PC) input to move it in when running a program. I also added a cursor for the start input on the Home Screen !
Little update ! I have added tips in the settings menu. The change randomly using the UNIX Epoch value
New little update ! I have created a Python tools to create memory map for my emulator docs !
Here is what I have done in 2h 50 . First I wrote a lot of docs, for the keyboard, Serial Monitor, Wozmon etc… This was so boring . But at least now I will be ready to ship soon ! Second, I have fixed the Wozmon list content of address. Before when you was doing FF00.FFFF it was just showing the byte at $FF00 and the byte at $FFFF now it list all the byte between !
YAY Now rust6502 Version 1.1.0 is released ! On github with all the demo file and on crates.io / cargo !
v1.2.0 Here are the changes attached to this release : fix: a bug on windows, with ghost key press ( c3c6009 ) add: a Scroll bar on the file explorer ( 94b2abb )
I added the step-back function. It work by pressing “B”, it’s just rewinding the emulator up to 500 opcode. Only work when moving in step-by-step mode (with Enter)
Okay so… I have added the Breakpoint and the Watchpoint . When you set the breakpoint to $C00C the CPU will stop before running the instruction at $C00C. The watchpoint stop if a value at an address at been changed.
+1h 25 min ! Since the last time I have added the keybind panel. Where there is… all the keybinds I also remove the keybind on the footer to only get Keybind “K”
+ 1h35 ! This might be the last feature I add to Rust 6502. Since I ran out of idea and for me the project seem to be finished. Anyway, here are the things I added : A RNG address : $BFF3 . The program just read from it and get a random value via the Host computer ( 4feb4d8 ) A conditional breakpoint : A top bar in the Breakpoint popup to add a conditional breakpoint (like : If AC != 0F -> Break) ( 1b7bc81 )
+ 1h20 So… this might be the last devlog for this project. I just released the v1.3.0 . And here is what I added since the last devlog : A RNG documentation Snake now use a real RNG I recorded the Asciinema .cast file Update the python tools to generate memory diagrams Update the Memory documentation So next step is the 3rd Ship
Ships:
=== Rust 6502 === A legendary 8-bit CPU right in your terminal! 🦀 ᕙ( •̀ ᗜ •́ )ᕗ == What did you make ? == I built a fully functional emulator for the MOS 6502 (the microprocessor that powered the Apple II, Commodre 64, and the NES) from scratch using Rust ! Launch the emulator by running rust6502 and use the built-in Home menu to select one of the demo .bin files! == Things to try == Load hackclub_logo_demo.bin to see the terminal render a 32x32 pixel art logo using 6502 assembly Load rainbow_demo.bin to watch a shifting color gradient animation directly manipulating video memory. Load helloworld_demo.bin to watch a centered Hello world message The Debugger: go to the Settings menu inside the TUI and slow down the CPU speed. Then watch the Memory Viewer and Disassembler track exactly what the code is doing in real-time!
=== Rust 6502 === A MOS 6502 emulator TUI with a lot of features ============================================ Before reading this Ship you should take a look at Ship #1 == What did you add ? Launch the emulator by running rust6502 and use the built-in Home menu to select one of the demo .bin files! == Things to try == Load snake_demo.bin to play at a classic game using the 32x32 screen and the PS/2 keyboard emulation Load wozmon.bin to use the Apple 1 OS ! Then watch the Memory Viewer and Disassembler track exactly what the code is doing in real-time!
Rust 6502 A MOS 6502 emulator TUI with a lot of features Before reading this Ship you should take a look at Ship 1 & Ship 2 What did you add ? Things to try Load snake_demo.bin and play :D Set a breakpoint on an address inside a demo program (check the keybind panel for the shortcut!) and watch execution halt exactly there Try a conditional breakpoint : for example, halt whenever XR == 0F and watch it stop right when the register hits that value Press “B” to step backward and rewind the CPU state instruction by instruction Press the keybind panel shortcut to see the full list of controls...

Added core tables for ecto in postgres so data can be stored so I won’t fetch the stardance pages evertime otherwise they may not be happy Added a way of fetching and parsing projects and users and returns them as a map. I will return them as json from a url soon, just getting the core internal services setup. Me rn
Added return json from an API endpoint following the flavortown spec.
Added writing to database to store requests so I do not need to scrape SD every time a user makes a request.
Finally got the project API working from the DB. I forgot to include the user ID so it would not save, then I had issues where it could not find @jam06452 for example in the db so it tried to write jam06452 without the @ leading to it always breaking. I fixed all of this. I am free
After like an hour of trying to fix deployment its finally deployed. V0.000000000000000001 done It took me ages cause the DB was bugging so I had to change owner to postgres and stuff and finally got it working
Added a “/projects/:id/devlogs/:id” endpoint like what flavortown had for backwards compatibility.
If a record has not been updated within the past 12h it rescrapes it to keep data updated every 12h, this can be increased or decreased easily. Also added an entrypoint.sh script so ecto migrations are applied automatically when started.
Fixed “/projects/:id/devlogs/:id” returning 404 if the project is not scraped. It now starts the project scraping workflow. Also added docs being on “/” and not the default phoenix lander
Added comprehensive testing and fixed endpoints failing some tests. Tests are ran via mix test
lowk I stopped devlogging idk why but probs since im submitting ts to macondo. If yall want more devlogs just lemme know and I will So whats changed? All of it works offline (except for the tutor) in your browser, and everything is saved in your device (not in the web app’s servers). Challenges and what’s working well: The two main challenges were the API key and the browser speech. With the API key, the problem was that Hack Club’s server doesn’t allow other web pages to access it (because of CORS policies), so I made a small Node server that runs locally and receives the requests (your API key is only stored in your browser, not in the file). The other big problem was the voices: Chrome and Safari have strict policies about when you can autoplay audio, and the auto-detected voices weren’t working properly on real devices (probably because they had old voices installed, or voices that don’t work with the API, like Eddy or Flo, the voices made by Apple for testing). To fix this, I made it prioritize the manually selected voice, and then the default browser voice, and report the status to the user. How to test it: Open http://localhost:3400 in a browser, open Settings, put your API key in the “AI tutor key” field, select a voice in the “Voice” dropdown menu (you can try several ones and click “Say hello”), and test it by chatting to the tutor. It should work smoothly after you give microphone permissions to the web app and enable the “Tutor” setting. All in all, it’s a fully working PWA (progressive web app) in any browser that lets you configure it with some settings.", "repo": "https://github.com/manayparikh1/francais-2.0", "demo": "https://fastidious-meerkat-f2cf71.netlify.app/"}]...

All features were properly implemented, and the design and color scheme were modified to a red-yellow configuration. Nevertheless, the process of working with a speech feature has taken a lot of time and resulted in multiple issues. The situation where the speech function ceased to work remains unexplained and worrying. During two or three hours, I tried to figure out what the issue was with my assistant, but all my solutions failed. In addition, I tried several functions to find the one that would work, but nothing worked. Finally, I managed to solve the problem when I realized that the issue was not on my side but on the browser’s side since the speech output in my browser did not function correctly. I decided to try the program in Safari, and everything started to work fine. What surprised me was that the code worked fine on the phone. Thus, the problem was in the browser. However, as mentioned above, this project also involved a great number of challenging tasks and unanticipated issues. For instance, a long procedure was required to connect an API key, during which I faced multiple obstacles that I managed to overcome due to the help of an AI assistant and my own time investment. Hence, the project was fruitful but included many issues on the way. :OVERALL THE BACKGROUND FEATURE IS MY FAV Lol"}, {"post_id": 34736, "ts": "2026-07-25T18:17:20Z", "hours": 4.3094, "text": "The progress is going very well recently. I did a lot of research work and testing, and with the help of AI, I automated a lot of tedious work of rewriting and translating. Instead of spending hours trying to find the right phrase, I could focus my time and effort on actual development of the product. At this point, I think that the product is about 75%-80% complete. The major part of the work is done, and what is left is relatively simple, though time-consuming. The next big step is to add the functionality of listening and dictating. This will allow the web application to receive input from the user via voice. With that, the app’s functionality will be complete, and only some final polishing and logic tweaks will be needed to complete the project.I am very satisfied with the progress I made recently, and I am looking forward to working on the project in the future. I am trying to create a french website that will help individuals learn french and ill add a spanish feature too with it so basically it will teach both french and spanish. Currently I started with the french and I am done around 40 lines of html but I may have to restart and also I learned new things like “antialiased” which is a term I learned from the github copilot which was nice… next I wanna keep working on the html and making everything good. Ai helped me a lot with debugging and fixing small errors. SO I finished like a lot of html atleast 100 or 200 lines of code and it is going good so far but I also wasted time in trying find out what phrases to put in and in the future I was possibly gonna put a tutor entirely powered from ai using the hackclub api which will be a stretch but its fine and I will try to apprehend these aspects.
Currently I am working on the html part and I made different functions which so far include phrases, flashcards, quizes and possibly games. Most challenging tasks are done, and the remaining ones are relatively simple.
In general, the described scenario was highly challenging. :OVERALL THE BACKGROUND FEATURE IS MY FAV Lol

I named the app Frapanol, which is a combination of french and Espanol What I made: A complete french and spanish learning app in one html file (with 2000+ lines of code) including 13 learning modes (vocab, flashcards, quiz, listening, spelling, conjugation, phrases, numbers, and grammar), an AI tutor implemented through a Hack Club API, achievements, daily goals, speech synthesis for easier pronunciation, manual voice picker and a warm yellow/red theme that changes depending on the language. All in all, it’s a fully working PWA (progressive web app) in any browser that lets you configure it with some settings....
