I reproduced a ConstantLR edge case locally where total_iters <= 0 can leave the learning rate permanently scaled, then tested the proposed fix and checked it against surrounding scheduler behavior. The implementation looks good; the remaining question is mostly around backward compatibility and whether zero-length schedules should behave as already completed or be rejected at construction. I also looked through a broader scheduler validation change and tested some of the behavior around zero-valued parameters and existing scheduler semantics. A lot of today was basically getting reacquainted with the subsystem, reproducing bugs, reading PRs, and making sure fixes don’t introduce new behavior somewhere else. small note because having a project page just called “PyTorch” looks slightly insane: I’m a contributor/maintainer working on parts of PyTorch, mainly around torch.optim / LR schedulers I do not own PyTorch LMAO. I’m just using this project to log some of the upstream work I do for fun during Stardance. Thought it might be interesting for people to see what maintaining a big open source project actually looks like, even if half of it is just me staring at scheduler edge cases :D"}]...
