Firstly, yeah i was busy with my college admissions stuff, quite a long time honestly (and its just the beginning). But also during this time, i was hard at work pushing this project forward for the actual file transfer protocol thing. It was NOT at all easy as i was thinking. To send a file, both the users should have a prompt that shows what type of file they’re receiving and then ask them if they would wanna accept it or not. it seems VERY easy but trust me its the opposite. It took me like a week to come up with a very good and redundant method to ask the users. What is hard you might ask? Well the thing is, you need to have a seperate message parser (ie serializer) so you can make out the file details such as the file name, file size, etc. You need to send that seperately, and then ask the recv thread (the one that is always running to see if there are messages on the socket–multi-threading baby!) that the next incoming packet should be a file negotiation packet (as the name suggests, it negotiates with the user if they wanna accept the file) and then assigns the send thread to pay attention for the user command to accept (using “/accept” or “/reject”) for the files. As for selecting the files, im using an API called “tinyFD”. It’s goated honestly. Made my work a lot easier. Basically what it does is it opens the file saving / file opening dialog native to you OS or display server! Pretty darn good for cross-platform project like this (tho my project only works for unix atm). This was about the file transfer stuff. But there are also many architectural improvements that I made throughout to improve the readibility of the code. For example, instead of endless nested if-else statements, i used switch statements. For the commands, i made a seperate command parser (tho its buggy, not my main focus for now, but yeah working towards it). A few days ago, a reviewer (huge thank you!) asked me for a feature for custom ports. I’ve added it. Now, you should select a port on which you want your host/server to listen on. Took me long enough, but yep, working like a charm. Another issue i found on the reviewer’s screen rec video was that the server STILL proceeded to operate if the binding failed (for context they had port 8000 – the default port for this project previously already busy. When they attempted to run the server, the socket binding failed due to the port being used by another entity). The server would still go to its operating mode. Thats not good and meaningless. So fixed that bug as well. Thank you, reviewer for taking time having a look on my project! These past couple of days ive been thinking so long about protocol design for the actual file transfer that i said im working on. GOsh it was such a long journey. 5 rejected ideas and endless staring at the whiteboard. Nevertheless, ive managed to build a file negotiation system (so that the other device can accept/reject the incoming file) that can then also transfer files later on. The reason it was so complex because well, file negotiation is completely different from normal message packets. I need to measure the file size (that can be 64-bit worth in size….which is just BIG), the file name size (which was the big issue for me) and bundle them together and send over the wire. Earlier i was thinking to make completely different packet type for such tasks, but that was seriously wrong idea as i would end up with endless conditional loops, and it looks awful. Instead what im doing is im serializing all that info and shoving it inside the body of the main packet. Then build a seperate deserializer for the file metadata so it could extract data and show it to the user. You could say i could’ve just used the existing messaging infra to transfer the info…after all they’re just strings, right? Well, true they’re just strings, but we’re handling them completely differently. For instance, we’re building a separate architecture for this so that the messaging thing remains different from the file thing. They both dont have any business to be together. That’s called modularity. And besides, i will be transferring files…i certainly couldnt do that using messaging technique and was bound to make a different protocol. SO here i am. Earlier to keep things simple, I was just sending std::string packets, but files cannot be sent that way. Thats one of the foundational stepping stone for this. Apart from this, I also improved the readability for the enum values for payload_type (for which I was kinda responsible in the first place lol). I used to start the numbers with 0…examples: 010, 002, etc. They all represent octal values in C++. I didnt wanna get into that mess so I just removed it. I also added a necessary check to see if the receiving packet contains text or a file chunk (tho only text for now since Ive not implemented the file transfer yet). Im yet to do that flag for the sending as well, but not before I add file handling. Nowadays, I’m just changing the architecture rather than functionality and features. Devlog 1: soooooooooooo i finally understood what einstein type shi brain I used before my vacation. Right now my main goal was to not add new features, but to improve the readability of the code. For this, I made a new function, ReceivePacket(), that does nothing but uses TCP streams to receive packets. I designed a splash screen for my app’s server counterpart
I’m creating a free plex alternative. I’ve always wanted to get into self hosting and stuff, and now that stardance is starting, now is my chance to create my app and ditch streaming like I’ve wanted to do. I’m thinking like one app can be photos, another for videos, one for music, and one for storage. it sounds like a good idea in theory but it might be hard to implement. Anyway, with flavortown I had good project ideas but the implementation and design weren’t all there, so this time around I’m going to focus only on that. This will likely be my only project this time around so I’m going to make it my best one. I haven’t got much done, because I’ve been studying topics and stuff but here I have the setup screen. I’m taking inspiration from Google’s material design 3 for the aesthetic.
I created a basic client to test out the API with, I don’t mean for it to ship with this client. I’m just doing it. I’ve decided on a file numbering system, where each file gets its own number. if a file is deleted, it’s number is kept and marked as deleted until a file with the same metadata returns. I got some errors when I was going to screenshot my code, but since I don’t work on sundays, I can’t fix it until monday. I got rid of the splash screen because I realized people don’t want to see it.
I started working on the music client (there are 4) and I decided to go with a unconventional architecture for this one this time. Instead of having the now playing screen link with the app like a normal person, I have a API to handle it. I have multiple endpoints to play/pause/otherwise control music and the API can provide the song progress and name. As you can see, the UI is quite ugly. I’ll have to start theming the screens today
So I kind of broke my only laptop but it’s all chill because I have an iPad.
Ididntget much done because my laptop was broken and I didn’t have a way to test my apps in firebase studio but i a tried to add an authentication system that uses the client API to automatically authenticate users
I learned I was nowhere near done at all. I basically need to switch the UI library to be compatible with the system I’m using, and I still have to write the clients for the server. I only have one app that’s halfway done, and that’s the music client. I still have a lot to do, along with that, Google is going to discontinue firebase spark for no reason except that anytime they realize that users like an app, they either discontinue it or make it worse with ads
Today I implemented a new website and Ive restructured the entire thing to be half web based so you don’t have to only have another laptop to use it. I was going to test it but I’ll have to make time for it. as it turns out there is a huge difference between the iPad Pro and base iPad, so my browser froze as soon as I tried opening live preview. I’ll do all this again tomorrow lol ✌️
I deleted everything and started over. I used Gemini CLI once and then it’s like the first time you use AI it starts snowballing. I got rid of everything and I started by focusing on the setup. I proudly spent 5 hours working on a welcome screen. I used a textual UI, which was somewhat easy y implement. The hard part was implementing the connections to the server. I created a somewhat user friendly UI and I unified everything into one platform. The manager is now used to manage macro servers and create one, and all of the clients are now web hosted
I finished with the setup for my app. it took forever, but here’s what i did: First, you enter an IP address (to manage another comptuer). I’ve made the app automatically scan all of the computer’s ports to find the ports that Macro are on. For the setup, I’ve basically implemented changed the entire thing. it installs prerequisites, and then after that, you add your filepaths, choose a search backend, and then it automatically create a background process
Finally almost finished. It’s june 30th, and new month new project so I’m going to put this project on hold and work on my other one. I designed a new logo for Macro, but I need to refine it (Currently kind of chopped)
finished. shipping

I got to admit, I did get kind of lazy in the end when I used AI to finish it, but I thought it was a cool project....

I made my creative portfolio from scratch, but I didn’t want it to feel like a normal portfolio website. The main idea was to make the website itself feel like part of my work. It’s built around a sharp/brutalist visual style with a lot of small interactions. The cursor changes shape when hovering over things, there’s a kinetic arrow that reacts to mouse movement, and the main hero has cards constantly orbiting around the center. I also made the second section react to scrolling, so the text doesn’t just appear normally - it comes in when you actually reach the right point. A lot of it is basically me experimenting with how far I can push small UI interactions without making the site completely unusable. The hardest part was definitely the interaction stuff. The custom cursor sounds simple until you actually try to make it work properly. It needs to know what I’m hovering over, resize itself to that element, switch between elements quickly, and even detect cards moving underneath the cursor when the mouse isn’t moving. The rotating cards were another annoying one. The whole stage rotates, but the cards need to stay upright, so I had to counter-rotate them based on the current angle. I also had quite a few annoying deployment/config problems while building it. I used AI mainly when I got stuck on bugs or couldn’t figure out why something wasn’t behaving the way I expected. And honestly, getting everything to work together without making the whole thing feel laggy was probably the biggest part. I’m probably most proud of the fact that I didn’t just make a portfolio and put my work on it. I wanted the actual website to show how I like designing and building things. The cursor, rotating stage and arrow aren’t really necessary for a portfolio, but they’re the kind of details I wanted to experiment with. I’m also happy with the code structure now because I moved a lot of the Hero logic out of ‘App.jsx’ into separate ‘components/pages’, which made the project much easier to work on. It’s also actually live now, which makes the whole project feel a lot more real :) The best way to test it is on a desktop/laptop with a mouse, because a lot of the interactions are based around mouse movement. Start in the Hero section and move the cursor around different headings, links and cards. Try leaving the mouse still while the cards rotate underneath it too. Then move the mouse down towards the bottom of the screen and you’ll see the normal cursor change into the guide arrow. Move it slowly and then quickly to see how its behaviour changes. After that, scroll down into the next section and watch how the text animation gets triggered. Basically, don’t just look at the page — move your mouse around and mess with it a bit. That’s where most of the project is.", "repo": "https://github.com/sudipdas2011/portfolio", "demo": "https://sudipdas2011.github.io/portfolio/"}]...

This is my 6th devlog. So, quick recap: I made this creative portfolio web app using React + Vite + js. We started with just a custom minimalist cursor and revolving 3d cards. Then we added scroll animations & then a 3d dither carousel. But this devlog is very different from the previous ones… I added two things to the website that changed how the portfolio feels. The contact section – where things got weird (in a good way…) The contact section was just a plain “click here” button. I wanted something that would catch people’s attention. So I built a fluid particle simulation. With gravity control, fluid pressure , proximity based particles scaling effect, also made it in a way that mouse could add waves and move particles. Next is the footer. In footer I first i added some text for title and then some bottom copyright tags. It felt empty with a huge space in between. So, I decided to add a ASCII effect of mouse trails with a smiley. Now the portfolio has 6 sections: Hero - Minimalist cursor, orbiting cards, guide arrow Who Am I - Text that rises in as you scroll What I Do - Three skill categories Carousel [ work showcase ] - Dark-theme project gallery Contact - Interactive fluid particle physics Footer - ASCII mouse trails. It’s deployed at https://sudipdas2011.github.io/portfolio BYE ツ"}, {"post_id": 56762, "ts": "2026-08-28T17:28:36Z", "hours": 10.415, "text": "Hi Guys! This is my 5th devlog. DEVLOG: 4 ADDED README : https://github.com/sudipdas2011/portfolio/blob/main/README.md
Hi Guys! This is my 5th devlog. I have added many more things to my portfolio web design. First, I completed the 2nd section of the portfolio, which is the “Who Am I?” section. I also added a 3D model into it to make it look more dynamic. Additionally, I added a 3rd section: the “What I Do” section. This part is separated into 3 sub-sections to organize my work.
HI Guys! It’s deployed at https://sudipdas2011.github.io/portfolio BYE ツ
Hi guyz this is my 7th devlog From past 11-12 hours I am just trying to optimize the website Also clearing bugs and errors
Hi this is the 8th and FINAL devlog for this project. I hope u guys love my work. Lastly , I updated the readme section & also refined the Carousel scrolling problem.
Ships:
Hi! That’s where most of the project is.
Hi! This is the final ship for this project. I made this portfolio to showcase my work and creativity. This portfolio really depicts me. Compared to my first ship, In this ship , I added many things such as 2 - 3 new sections. I also focused on interactivity and creativity. The main problem I faced was in maintaining layout , structure and scrolling of the website. I hope you all like this project…...

It has registers, a hardware stack pointer, flags (CF & ZF), 256 bytes of simulated memory, and full CPU emulation. There is also a compiler which converts assembly code with symbolic names to machine instructions. Implemented in C++. What Was Challenging? There were quite a few issues that I ran into when running assembly programs but they were fixable using my ‘step’ flag and watching the CPU states(flags/registers). However, one major hurdle I encountered with forward labels was that my assembler did not support jumping to an undefined label that wasn’t declared yet(forward jumps) used in JMP, CALL, JZ, and JNZ instructions. I could not solve this problem until I learned during my C++ class how V-tables are created during compile time. Thus, I decided on an “unresolved array” which would store the label and not have a resolved address which would be patched later when the label is actually found. My dad also suggested a two pass assembler would be more elegant. During the first pass all labels can be resolved and during the second pass the machine code can be generated. I chose to keep the single pass design because it produced a faster assembler despite requiring a small tracking array. What are you proud of? I am more satisfied than being proud of building a functional hardware stack infrastructure capable of handling nested subroutines using low-level PUSH, POP, CALL, and RET commands. It was amazing to watch a processor simulator I wrote entirely by hand successfully use stack memory to jump into subroutines, run math operations, and bounce back to the main program loop cleanly without crashing or corrupting memory boundaries. Designing the AEGIS Frontend 🚀
I have just made an simulation for Aegis(Advanced Earth-orbit & Geospatial Intelligence System) I have made this 3D space visualization and simulation interface as part of AEGIS. It provides an interactive view of Earth, planetary bodies, orbital paths, asteroids, and space objects in a dynamic environment. Users can track objects, zoom through space, control simulation speed, enable real-time rotation, and switch between different simulation states. The interface is designed like a mission-control environment, combining scientific visualization with a clean futuristic HUD. My focus was on making complex orbital and space data visually understandable while keeping the experience interactive and immersive. This is one of the core visualization components I built for AEGIS.
🚀 AEGIS — Development Update Just pushed another major update to AEGIS. I’ve now integrated NASA’s space-data APIs to bring live/near-real-time space data directly into the AEGIS interface — including: ☀️ Solar Activity & CME data ☄️ Near-Earth Object tracking 🛰️ ISS orbital-position data The goal isn’t to simply display numbers on a screen. AEGIS is being built as a foundation for exploring and researching space systems. I’m now focusing on taking it further — turning these real-time data streams into tools that can help us analyze space environments, study orbital behavior, monitor celestial events, and eventually support the design of more advanced devices for space research. This is still an early stage, but the direction is becoming much clearer: From data → to analysis → to research → to real space technology.
I know I haven’t posted a devlog for a while — and there’s a reason. While working on AEGIS, I ran into an unexpected issue that broke the entire simulation tab and its mappings. A lot of the work had to be rebuilt and remapped from scratch, which completely disrupted the development timeline. Instead of rushing out an update, I decided to fix the foundation properly. Now I’m back on track, rebuilding the simulation system and continuing AEGIS toward its bigger goal: real-time space data, simulations, research tools, and eventually more advanced systems for exploring space technology.
Finally AEGIS is live check out 🎊🎊🎊🎊
AEGIS got returned, and that’s fair The Shipwrights returned AEGIS. Their feedback was that it reads as AI-generated end to end, without enough of my own input. I used AI heavily to build the first version, so I can’t really argue with that. So I’m going to remake it properly. This time: I’ll redesign the UI myself, with my own layout, colors and panel designs I’ll go through the code until I can explain how each part works (the NASA polling, the DEFCON logic, the ISS tracker, the Earth shader) I’ll make smaller, more frequent commits so the progress is visible I’ll add an “AI usage” section to the README that says honestly what was AI-assisted and what I wrote Will post updates as I go. To be continued…
Well truly i made many change by my own hand hackatime still record it as ai coding , may be its in my computer bug , but i added docks , enhanced simulations

First 3 scenes out of 5 are almost fully completed, Code and everything is fully completed and ready for reskinning to 720p Transitus is a game about exploring 3 habitable exoplanets in search of sapient life beyond the solar system, where you traverse through platformers of various difficulty and niches, like ice, desert, and jungle, I will be updating this on steam and itch.io when i am fully finished
Devlog 2 As of july 17, i have made more changes to Planet 1, while my first 2 scenes are basically done, and simply now need reskins, and sound effects. I made my code use public variables to make sure i can easily change them from inspector, and asign the scripts to different gameobjects and have them do different things. [i also left my computer unattended for an hour and it added more time to my hackatime project, please remember to remove one hour from my time]
Transitus devlog 3, still july 17 I’ve been working on code a little more, my speed has been increased a lot thanks to AI auto-fill and debugging using auto. I’ve been using a bunch of i Enumerators, co-routines, and is trigger box colliders (Collider 2D) within the game to show that the player will die after touching a certain block. i am thinking to instead load only one single planet that is larger than the rest, or that its earth like and i have to traverse through different biomes.
Finally something new Z July 17 the new plot is traversing a marslike planet with ties to a dying alien civilization, you get past ancient traps, space spaces, asteroid fields, and make contact and research along the way, while being a NUSA Astronaut. I can use my old scripts for this, and i can save alot of my time by making it pixelart, like terraria
https://github.com/SudaimI/Transitius i made a new github page for my project, i dont understand why my past devlog failed but i made a new script transporting you to the main scene, where the bunker is located. you visit traps and just explore it alot, there will be biohazards everywhere and it will be the most ambitious project i may ever accomplish (i hope)
I have now made my new animation part of playercontroller!! Log 00ihavenoidea I now have a working animtor without using that damn animation component Unity gives onits own, and it works rather easily! all i need todo now is when reskinning,i throw thesprites into here and i am done!
July 23 So ivebeen busy and didnt really do much for the project so far, but i have started wirk on the bunker, which is the main game. for some reason the scene isnt loading properly and im fixing that right now, butother than that it seems to be working pretty well. i will start makingthe characters in a few days using blender

July 28 Im finally bac and starting work again on the last level but its rather hard since ther player is not jumping at all. I will soon fix it and also get more things to do, i havent made any scripts yet so yeah
I made the best walk cycle the world has ever seen, and they could call me the greatest programmer that has ever lived. (also i added more to the level. im like 50% there) Looking at other Unity projects i feel quite stupid for making such a simple, and ugly project, but hey, if i cant get that rpi 4,i can always get that zero 2w and make a cyberdeck.
So i already know that this game is going to turn out very different from what i had originally expected, its now certain to me that ill have to make this a lot longer, if i had more time and also motivation i probably could have done greater things than this. at this point i just want to finish the end where you meet the alien. a whole hour in, ive done incredible progress Im already familliar with HTML and CSS, and i used some AI with getting flappy bird workikng, but other than that ive gotten resizable windows, a working browser, flappy bird, and a working music player!! Im very happy with my results so far, this reminds me alot of GNOME linux, witht he top bar and everything. I will be adding some finishing touches with the game, since it looks pretty ugly.
Yeah, im finally finished with this project of mine It has a working browser, music player, flappy bird, and resizable windows! im super proud of how i built this in only 2 hours, but it shows an hour and 30 minutes on hackatime which is pretty strange, but it was a really fun project and i love how it turned out !!
For some reason they said i made it using ai which is like a quarter true cause a third of my javascript was made from big gpt, but i know html and css and i made that stuff and the variables in js by hand, i changed the flappy bird logo since i didnt like the old one edit, yes for the reviewer i did in fact rewrite the javascript, and i do understand it but its just scary to write anything other than python
