It’s main color is the effectColor Rainbow fill: Rainbow, but with the entire screen being the same color, affected by the global speed as all the others Animation mode: This mode took probably the most, time. The last like 4 hours of development was basically focused on optimizing and debugging of this feature. It stores and internal buffer of 20 maximum frames, every pixel of every frame stores an index that gets it’s color from a color palette that is user adjustable and stored in full depth color. The full depth color information is rendered to the matrix, during runtime. It’s speed is the same as the effect/pattern speed. Text rendering: Seemed complex at first, but after thinking about it a bit more it got done in a reasonable time. This section holds the only AI generated information from the entire file in the form of the font bitmap, since I didn’t want to spend a bunch of time drawing them myself. The character buffer itself can store 64 characters, but since there is a limitation to my model of arduino to a 64 byte serial buffer it can only display 62 characters. It also has two color modes one of which uses the effectColor, and the other one uses a similar way to the rainbow effect to render rainbow colored text. Hardware side of things: The project uses an arduino nano as the micro controller, and an addressable led strip containing WS2812 leds. I cut a long one of these led strips into 12, 7 led long ones and them inside of a CD case, which I sanded down for light diffusion(doesn’t do the best job tho). An important thing about the wiring is that the data pins are connected in a zig-zag pattern so if anyone maybe wants to use my code, they need to build the matrix the same way. The dimensions of the matrix can be changed, a small change in the code is all that is needed. Thoughts on my efficiency I know that this project must have been done like a million + 1 times already and it shouldn’t have taken this much time, but as it was the first time I touched an arduino or any kind of low level programming project really, it took a longer time than it should have. Decided on writing my personal, mostly static website in React, because I’ve never used it so I wanted to get a little practice with it! I’m currently making an about section and then I’ll submit it since it qualifies for the personal site, mission, once I submit it I’ll begin working on actual features like an image gallery for my photography and a blogging system, also plan to migrate the project from being static to having their own place in a database which I can edit from a dashboard and stuff. What I’m done with so far: Topbar with navigation Hero section with an animated welcome message Projects section with some projects already placed into it
Finished with the about section, also added a footer!
Making this devlog cause I have to I feel useless :( I wasted so much time on this project today it’s not even funny. 8 hours or so currently, and not even half done with a single very simple feature, I’m usually much much more efficient, I almost gave up on the whole thing a good couple of times, anyways here is a screenshot from the dashboard in it’s current state. I promise the next devlog will actually be a worthy one!
Backend updates: Authentication works now Adding projects to the backend and displaying them also works perfectly Added ability to edit the website title, about text, socials, and email
Added uploads to the site, so I don’t have to rely on external services for assets
Added the backend side of things for the gallery!
Added not too good looking, but functional controls for the dashboard for the gallery feature. I think I’ll redesign the whole page someday, but that won’t be today.
New devlog Things I added: Added the gallery page to the website’s public part with an image display section similar to the one on unsplash.(Mine’s a bit worse, but it’s mine) I also implemented tag based filtering! Also added a friendlier navigation panel for mobile users! Next up: A way to view the image in big in full resolution, I already designed it in figma , so now I just need to implement it! Code base and assets cleanup. Deployment and ship! :)
Image viewer, yay! I just need to get this whole thing to prod now.
Even though I said I’ll just deploy, I added mass uploads, deployed, and then started filling the site with content! The next major ship is right around the corner!
Dashboard redesign! I got fed up with the old design as it was quite uncomfortable to use tbh, everything was layed out vertically, so it felt pretty cramped, so I changed it to a sidebar design! I also replaced most of the inline editing stuff, so creating and editing projects now happen in modals. Uploading and tagging photographs also moved to a modal with real time suggestions too!
Ships:
I made my own personal website!
Lots of changes were made Everything that was static before, is now rendered dynamically from a database! Added a dashboard where I can add projects, upload assets, upload images and edit all of the about information. For the gallery I added a tagging system that can be updated from the dashboard. The site also implements exif data storage, so I anyone can view the camera, lens and settings used to make the photo. There is also a description section for notes. The gallery is render in a style similar to unsplash, the site is divided into columns, which are dinamically added and destroyed, based on the viewport width. Each image displayed keeps it’s original aspect ratio....

searching and shortcuts work now, next is the wallpaper from apod and maybe better shortcut icons
Changes: I connected my site to the APOD api, for the background, but directly accessing the api every time, was slow, so I made a cache for it Added a settings panel, so now the search engine can be changed, along with the shortcuts!
Added collapseable sticky notes that have a relative position to the screen so they can’t move out of sight! Also added option for background blur! I think it’s pretty much finished I just need to deploy it!
Added snap to grid and middle click to add sticky notes!
Been a while! School started so I’ve been pretty busy with that ig. I wanted to continue working on the coffeeTracker, but I’m a bit bored of that currently so I decided to work a bit more on skystart. I’ve wanted to add syncs from the begging and even tried, but ultimately gave up on in. But I’m giving it another shot! Already moved the project to typescript and initialized PrismaORM with sqlite! Next up are the endpoints! This feature will be pretty useful for me!
After quite a lot of work, syncing settings and notes between devices is finally done! It’s accomplished with generated uuid, that can be shared between clients!
Ships:
I made a start page in React, with a customizable search engine optional background blur for the photos fetched from the APOD api from NASA an unlimited amount of shortcuts collapse-able sticky notes with synchronization across tabs and windows!
I added a synchronization feature across multiple devices with a centralized backend!...

I spent the first couple days of this project working on the software before I do any of the hardware, since it’s a lot easier to design software first and then design the hardware around it. All i’ve gotten done so far is the ui system through pygame (the main menu shown in the picture below), a cool analog clock, and eontimer functionality. The next goals of the project are to implement Entralinked server functionality leveraging python’s subprocess library, implement PKHeX likely using PKHeX core since i have never programmed in C# and I don’t know how to link it to Python, and then creating a SQLite database of Pokemon information ripped off of the PokeAPI and implementing a Bulbapedia-style UI for the dex hopefully. Only after all of that stuff is implemented will I get started on the cool and fun part of the project, which is the hardware, lol Right now, EonTimer functionality is implemented by starting an http server and Chrome in kiosk mode to serve EonTimer, with a custom javascript button to provide the user an easy way to exit from it, while making sure the python program returns to the main menu as well. Custom CSS had to be created in order to ensure the website could fit on an 800x480 screen. I had been trying to design this under the assumption that the user wouldn’t have access to a mouse cursor of any kind, and I already made my python ui index based with no mouse control, but it doesn’t seem feasible and I will most likely have to implement some kind of joystick or trackpad or at least a touch screen for the user to be able to have mouse control. I think the project is coming out fine, although I really need to stop relying on LLM tools for coding assistance, it’s very embarrassing. Anyway, thanks for reading my first devlog."}]...

bayleef devlog 3 happy july 4th american folk, now let’s get into the code and changes! minor work has started on the case design the hardware is finalized, i know what keyboard and screen im using, circuit design will start soon bayleef has been developed on the pi zero 2w and tailored to it since i made the pokedex, the software is working well and testing has gone off without a hitch PKHeX (through pkhex-cli) and a new EonTimer implementation (through eontimer’s python branch) have been added!! overall, 80% of the software is finished! all that’s left to go is the settings and some polish on the uis General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience. The final product is still subject to a lot of changes, but we’re getting there! TODO: finish settings, which will not be completely possible until i have 100% of the hardware working create a circuit with my custom hardware (audio, buttons, power, etc) and then get it working on a breadboard and eventually a custom pcb finalize the design and create the custom case focusing on ergonomics I appreciate all of the support i’ve gotten so far as well as all of the people who followed my project from the last devlog. Apologies for taking so long!!
Ships:
ultimately i didn’t have time to finish the project and i sorta got caught up in other things, but for the most part the software is complete sorta...

[FIRST DEVLOG] Building my first JS project, Slover ! Slover is a tool to unify every major AI watermarking detection tool (c2pa, openai verificator, synthid-text..) in an easy to use JS library. For now, there is a start of c2pa detector implementation, but I plan on adding a lot more of tools ! Also, I plan on making a browser extension, and a website to use it, but users will be free to integrate it wherever they want.
Devlog 2 - I made the base implémentation for image and video detection !When sending an image or a video, the system will pass the file against each available detector (for now, only SynthID), and return a ImageAnalysisResult object (or a VideoAnalysisResult) with every result, and some methods to easily manage the data.I also created a base README (on mobile, without hackatime), and a ROADMAP with what I plan to implement. Here is the list of detectors I will implement, but feel free to suggest some other watermarks to implement ! When I was a bit younger, I installed Linux and decided to rice it. I loved Cava, and I had the wonderful idea to make an app that could display the current lyrics in my terminal ! Unfortunately, I did not have the competences to make this back then, so I foolishly delegated it to AI… And I never had the courage to rewrite it myself, because it looked sooo scary and hard… And the ai spaghetti code wasn’t here to help me. But I discovered Stardance, and I thought “Hell yeah, why not trying this ?”. Turns out it was easier than I thought ! Parole is a TUI app to display the lyrics of the current song, compatible with Linux (using mpris) and Windows (using winsdk) ! It fetches the lyrics data from LRCLib and displays them with Textual. It may not work perfectly on Windows, because Microsoft decided that yes, it’s a good idea to not return the actual position in the song but rather a position that updates not every time + the moment it was updated. So in most apps, if you play/pause, you break it. That kind of choices is a good reason to switch to Linux, if you want my opinion. Anyway, have fun playing around with it !", "repo": "https://github.com/skueee/parole", "demo": "https://pypi.org/project/parole-tui/"}]...

It’s not using playerctl anymore, which was not made to work like that and was not multi platform. Now, I have a little thingy that can provide two “providers”, one for Linux using mpris (dbus-next) and one for Windows using winsdk. Devlog 1 - Parole, a nice terminal thing for showing lyrics of your favorite song ! Parole is a TUI tool made for your rice ! It will show the lyrics of the song you are currently listening, using Playerctl :) I use Subprocess to get the playerctl metadata, then I use Textual to show everything. For now, it can just get the lyrics and format them in a dict. Not very beautiful for now…
Delvlog 2 - Well, it’s easier than I thought I knew it would be a small project, but this is reaaaally fast ! In this small update, I added a way to actually parse the lyrics, and show them in the TUI ! For now, there is just one line of lyric, but I will add options to add more lines. I just need to add customization options, fix some errors, maybe find a way to make this run on windows !
Devlog 3 - It’s working well ! The program can show multiple lines of lyrics, and there is an argument to choose the number of them ! I also improved the lyrics parsing method, and forced the app to use the ANSI colors from the terminal. I think now I will change the metadata fetching to MPRIS via Dbus instead of playerctl, and will do that in a separate file for better organization when I will port to windows
Devlog 4 - I haaaate windows omg So I basically rewrote the logic to get song info. It’s not using playerctl anymore, which was not made to work like that and was not multi platform. Now, I have a little thingy that can provide two “providers”, one for Linux using mpris (dbus-next) and one for Windows using winsdk. The implementation on Linux was pretty easy, but omg why do people still use Windows ? Basically, the Windows API do not return the current position on the song, but a position and a time since it was last updated. So in 90% of the players, if you pause, all the timing will get wrong. And to complement all of this, the experience of using windows is sooo bad, like, wdym the middle mouse button stops working randomly ? Anyway I think i just need to write docs and I’m ready to ship !
Devlog 5 - Yayyy i’m going to ship ! This took way much more time than I thought, but everything is set up ! I made a readme, a contributing guide, and even issue templates ! Also I made a release workflow, and I’m soooo tired of the fact that Github Actions has no way of testing them, because it keeeps failing for whatever reason aaaaaah Well now it’s published so I just need to test !

3… 2… 1… Introducing… Parole ! Anyway, have fun playing around with it !...

Getting real isolation from host-site CSS/CSP (solved with a closed Shadow DOM + constructable stylesheet + bundled fonts) and fully trapping input — YouTube’s shortcuts were still firing under the overlay until I trapped keydown / keypress / keyup plus the full mouse event set with stopImmediatePropagation . Q. What are you proud of? A. Killing three earlier “typing test” versions of this to land on the much simpler, much better idea: stop measuring, just let people empty out. 3 major QoL improvements: Full Shadow DOM isolation — overlay can’t be broken by host-site styles/CSP on any gated site. Full keyboard + mouse input trap — host shortcuts (space/k/f on YouTube, etc.) can’t fire underneath the overlay. Toolbar popup on/off toggle ( chrome.storage -backed) — turn it off instantly, no digging through chrome://extensions . How to test: Load unpacked via chrome://extensions → Developer mode → Load unpacked. Visit any gated site, let the breathing intro play (or press a key to skip), type into the canvas, hit 50 chars to unlock, try Escape to reset. Toggle off in the popup mid-session and confirm it melts away immediately. I type pretty fast, and using my own extension was making me so mad that I wanted to stop working on it. the screenshot I attached shows what the penalty was. basically, if you started writing too fast, it would add MORE to the poem. and it sucked. i tried playing around with the characters per minute timings but its just not very reliable and hard to perfect. If the app is tracking your typos, grading your accuracy, and monitoring your speed, your brain stays stuck in “performance mode.” You arent relaxing, youre just playing this game of “type as fast as you can”. while its fun to type fast, its not the point of this project. So, I’m throwing the whole typing exam mechanic in the trash. The Next Step: The “Brain Dump” Overhaul (v0.6.0) For the next version, we are pivoting to something that actually feels therapeutic: Free-form Canvas: No more copying quotes perfectly. No more “incorrect” keys or rigid typing checks. You get an empty screen that asks: What’s making your mind busy right now? Dissolving Text: You type whatever raw thoughts are in your head. No Performance Metrics: Goodbye WPM, goodbye accuracy tracking. Just a simple counter showing you’ve let go of 50 characters. Once you type 50 characters of a raw brain dump, the overlay fades out, and the site unlocks. hopefully this 5.0 release will be the LAST, as this project is getting a little boring to work on… This completely gets rid of the annoying spacing and indexing bugs too, because the browser can just handle normal text input natively. And for what… This is the official 0.4.0 release. It’s been a bit since my last devlog, and a lot has happened behind the scenes to finally bridge the gap between project and final extension. unfortunately, this is not the final. First, a quick reality check on the layout. In my last post, I said the text was perfectly centered. It was… on my blank HTML test page. But the second I actually started testing the extension on live websites like YouTube and Twitter, their styles completely leaked into my code and broke it. So ye, the centering is currently broken but ill fix it one day. maybe Here is a quick list of everything I actually changed and built since the last log: It actually unlocks the page now: Once you finish typing the very last letter, the overlay just fades away. pretty simple for now, i might make it like a melting effect? not sure yet Bolder text & a clean new font: Like I said in the last post, the old text was way too small and thin. I cranked it up to 34px, made it a lot bolder, and switched it to Google’s ‘Roboto Mono’ font so it looks way niccer. Multi-line poems: You can type through short stanzas now instead of just flat, one-line quotes. I completely broke the extension at first because the cursor kept getting stuck on the invisible line-break characters \\n , but I fixed the logic so it jumps lines. Escape to restart: Added a quick reset feature. Hitting the Escape key wipes your current progress and pulls up a fresh random quote. The Plan The code works well and everything feels incredibly smooth, but this 0.4.0 update is officially a halfway point and a place to rebuild. After staring at the live WPM and accuracy counters ticking up while I was testing it, I asked my dad how it looked. He made me realize that I am literaly building the exact opposite of what I actually want. The whole points of this Grounding project is to be a relaxing speed bump that encourages you to take a breath and get off your device. I am stripping away the stress metrics (byeWPM and accuracy) and shifting toward a more mindful experience. Time invested: about 6 hours in total....

If there was nothing above the spider, it flew up to y 1500 and left the level. That was the glitching through levels thing. It now stops at the same kind of ceiling the ball has. Dash camera. The zoom was getting applied twice, so zoomed sections were drawn shifted. I checked it against a screenshot from the real game and it lines up now. Inspired by my friend Nicole, who plays a lot of farm games. The how to play is listed in my read me so if you want a better description of the game, just read that. I’ll list it here though: Welcome to Farm Simulator! Your goal is to become the greatest farmer EVER! You begin by meeting your mentor, Nicole. You will acquire a wooden plow and some wheat seeds from Nicole. In order to make your first wad of cash, you need to plant those seeds in your plot editor and then farm them right up to grab your crops! Then, after you farm your crops, you can sell them at the store for money! Upgrade your tools to get more money per crop! (make sure you have enough money left over to buy a seed as well!) Make sure not to run out of durability!! If you would like to do some butchering, feel free to buy some animals, which will allow you to unlock the butcher option! This will give you the ability to breed animals and sell their meats. Note: If there are numbers next to actions, please enter the numbers and not the words. (If you have an issue running the game with the Windows Defender pop-up, click “more info” and then “run anyway!”) Also this is my second python game ever so keep that in mind when playing :> I made farm simulator, it simulates working on a farm! If it asks a yes or no question, feel free to enter yes, no, y, n, etc.. a range of responses are accepted When it asks if you want to place something down and you have multiple times, please enter one item at a time! Thanks for playing and I hope you enjoy the game! (Also note that the ascii art is not made by me!)...

Devlog #1 Hello! This is my first devlog for my newest project: a portfolio website for my science fair team. We need a portfolio website to like cold email people to get advisors and to show them like what projects we’ve made and stuff. This is heavily inspired by shar since I really like the look of her website. I think it looks decent so far. Next I will probably work on getting little modals to work on the bottom that will display about us pages for each of us.
Devlog #2 WINDOWS COMPLETE! I was able to get the modal to popup, drag and stack it on top of the other modals. I got font-awesome to work as emojis for the clickable buttons. I am waiting on my teammates to send me their about mes to replace the filler lorem ipsum text. I still don’t know why the border around the modal body has a very odd height, I just used a bit of padding to get the border to fit but I probably need to figure it out in order for the website to be able to be used on mobile I added box shadow and got the borders and fonts and headers to be colored and work properly The javascript took the longest because I had to rely on like 4 year old tutorials and a LOT of gemini for debugging I took the modal template from an old youtube tutorial and the rest of the javascript was mainly vibe coded except for a bit of debugging I had to do. Devlog #3 Contacts page complete! This took way too long for what it is lol Reused blucky from one of my previous projects I did for the starbeam hackathon (yes! he makes a reappearance) Added our student emails with a button that automatically sends you to gmail cuz I was too lazy to add three buttons that sent you to each of our emails individually I rescaled everything and so the contacts page is a little longer than the other windows The contacts page and projects page I colored with a different background color to add a little personality to each window, I plan on adding our favorite colors as the background for our about mes Im probably going to work on the projects next and try to figure out how to make it scroll downwards (probably going to use the trick I learnt fro the carousel on my other website) also I updated the javascript so then the window header does not leave the viewable screen
Devlog #4 Profiles all complete! I finished everybody’s about me with their descriptions and accent colors. I changed the highlight color for each one to make it more custom and added more font awesome emojis I added dark mode after watching a tutorial on it and tracked/inverted all my colors. I think darkmode looks pretty good for now (not perfect but highkey im too lazy to change the colors) I added sfx from taking samples from a random website and adding audio tags to my html. I got ai to fix up my javascript for the audio to work for specific buttons (original javascript for the audio feature came from a 1 min long youtube tutorial) I am going to focus on the mobile version after this because I think the website is basically complete. (I also bought a domain lols) Our offical team name is squigs now so thats kinda cool
Devlog #5 (FINAL DEVLOG) I bought my second ever domain :) I connected it to github pages so hopefully the DNS check goes through sometime soon… BUT the rest of the website is pretty much complete. For the mobile version, I was kinda too lazy to switch everything around again so I just added a little notification on the bottom telling the user that the website is made for desktop devices and will be pretty wonky on the mobile version. I switched up some colors around again to just make everything match and flow a little better. I think I really like how this website came out and hopefully it will be fully functioning! p.s: huge thanks to the big AZ for making me the backgrounds lol
Changed the text, added GIFS and resumes

This is a portfolio website for my science research team :) We needed a portfolio website for cold emailing so we could display our skills so I decided to make it. (also be cause it is quite fun) This website was inspired by sharyap.com because I really liked the design and feeling it gave off. The website is best used with a desktop device (mobile doesn’t really work too well) and you can drag, drop, and stack the various windows together. There is a dark to light mode switch in the top left corner that inverts the color palette as well as sound effects that play when you click specific buttons. I hope you enjoy playing around with the website!...

But when I started looking, it took me a while to find something good, yet I still wanted more. I’m gonna try to keep this as simple, but yet modern. I want to make a simple kanban board, where you don’t need your email to be verified, I won’t even add it to reduce bloat. I tried improving the sidebar and adding some stuff for the page… Didn’t work that well and I realized maybe web development isn’t for me and I should try something more close to me....
