GalaxyOS. Just started with the search bar at the top. It took a long time to center the element properly and test various background colors to find one that matches this them. I wanted to add something a little lighter than this to ensure a modern and real look, not too animated.
I’ve pivoted a little bit and changed the name to blastoffbrowser. I’ve also added this betaiful light grey color, and a new font from Google Fonts for my name at the top left....

I started working on my personal website. My aim is to make indie web in the early 2000s using html and css. For my first devlog I only made a structure for now then I’ll diligently work on this web.
So I completed this website I have to upload at github still now. I have never used github so wishing myself luck. It was my first time doing something like that so I love it and I was so excited and now I feel like I should try more of these. Its lowkey fun!!!!

It’s main function to clean surface level grime and dirt to make your phone squeaky clean! :) The most challenging part was getting the mechanical system to work reliably. My original 3D-printed carriage broke twice the day before Open Sauce, so I redesigned it so that each roller had its own separate carriage. I also had to do a lot of wiring, debugging, and testing to get the motors, pump, and cleaning mechanism working together. I’m most proud that I was able to take an idea from a rough concept to a working machine that I could actually demonstrate to people at Open Sauce in just a few weeks. Seeing 100+ people reacting to my project amused, surprised, and amazed was really rewarding to me. But OpanF1 was a pain to configure damn cuz a race just ended and it doesn’t like queries at this time lol. Anyways, this is the final project with the f1 tracker
some great changes upcoming. stay tuned! :D
this is going to be the LAST devlog for this project. i have added a new page, LOTS of extra sections, and I have removed the F1 tracker section because ’twas givin me a headache ( i wasted 4 DAMN HOURS on that shi )
so I’ve read the user reviews and well, I’ve made some changes!

Devlogs:
So, just got the shell ready, ultra-basic, has no functionality whatsoever, and I used a stock image as the bg-image lol!
Just added a notes windows (looks draggable but it’s not lol) and fixed the time with some JavaScript, and looking forward!
Well, just fixed a few things and made the window moving! well, that was quite hard and i accidentally made just the header move first then i had to debug a LOT and fixed it but, works like a charm!
so i just made the close button and the desktop shortcut for the only app (notepad) work so now looking forward to make this better!
next up, i just wired up the notes app to localStorage (it failed to work due to a missing comma at first i basically gave up at that point lol) then now the maximize button is also working! looking forward to fixing the minimize button, make a start-menu perhaps (slay-menu lol) so stay tuned!
so, the last devlog was a bit funky, as i wrote the devlog and then went off to go code (but i forgot to click on post) so this post says 19 mins when it was definitely MORE than 45 mins. anyways, i just added functionality to the minimize button, added the apps to the taskbar, and now the start menu has smth (if not nothing it looks bad but i mean who cares) so looking forward to makin it better!
okay guys i just added a new app (calculator) and MAN I HATE JAVASCRIPT it’s soo bad and it’s just messing with my mind atp. but, now that’s all i’ve done for the last hour (you might call it 49 mins but nah) okay that’s all for the devlog looking forward to maybe add an f1 tracker in the next one. cya!
well, i’m workin on a bit of the f1 hub app and it’s a pain ngl but stay tuned!

Well, after HOURS of learning and building, here it is: slayerOS is now officially live! You can play/pause, skip to next song, and toggle between playback and browser mode at any time. I would love to continue improving this, like right now the ESP32 has trouble registering double button clicks if it’s also streaming audio at the same time. That’s why you see me pause songs before double clicking in the video LOL. Unfortunately with school starting soon I decided to wrap it up here. Still super proud of how far I’ve come considering I was only getting blinky on ESP32 one month ago. Day 1 - Prototyped volume control, scrolling, and button press on a KY-040 rotary encoder. Day 6 - song progress timer complete with the help of codex Didn’t realize how complicated calculating song duration from an MP3 would be. You would think duration is stored in metadata but you actually need to do some reverse engineering & check for a bunch of different compression formats yada yada Anyways now a basic timer is working. Also replaced the headphone jack with speakers like the engineers of the MAX98357 amp modules intended. Still lots more to implement like file navigation and song selection
Day 7 - debugging, oop, state machines The only new functionality added today was updating my button state machine for double click and long press detection. Intended behavior: While a song is playing, double click to play the next song or long press to return to the file navigator / song selector. Demo test in video The more interesting part to me was getting experience with two real big potato things: debugging & oop in c++. I got a taste of debugging low-level errors using toolchains. In this case it was the Xtensa addr2line tool used to convert ESP32 memory address logs into the exact file and line number involved in the error. Shoutout RoboService on youtube with 10 subscribers for making a banger tutorial. I also kinda went headfirst into c++ classes. My main arduino ide sketch was getting long enough to the point where partitioning it into classes became the smart move. I got the hang of it faster than expected. The new part is learning c++ specific syntax, but the fundamental concepts are the same across all oop languages.
Day 8 - writing a proper class start to finish Display class for the LCD is now complete, ready to be integrated with rest of program. Learnings: Use C strings over String objects to avoid heap fragmentation Use structs when you want to store different kinds of information about a state Consider what the class needs to know about the program, but also what it doesn’t need to know
File system in progress Approaching 10 hrs so had to devlog lol Will be back once file system is finished
Day 9 - File system class written 700+ lines of code between the header and source files :o Once the final version of this class is tested, all classes will have been written and ready to be integrated into the final program. In the home stretch!
File system stress tested When you start debugging you realize writing code was only half the battle
Final devlog! The main program came together pretty quick since I went through the gauntlet of writing classes for each major component. Quick summary of the MP3 player: Load up a microSD with songs/albums in MP3 format. Then navigate the file browser using the rotary encoder to scroll through and button to select. This is also meant to be a breadboard proof of concept for a larger PCB project I’ll be tackling, and I’m definitely glad I learned some lessons here and not while working on the PCB. I doubt finishing the PCB is in scope with a month left of stardance but stay tuned haha
Ships:
I made an ESP32 MP3 player on breadboard, complete with a file system and a multi-function playback controller. I went into this project essentially from zero - I had never used an ESP32 and had barely any experience with hobbyist electronics. I wasn’t even aware of the concept of debounce was until I naturally encountered button/encoder jitters in testing. What I’m most proud of is the journey from getting blinky on ESP32 just a few days before starting this project to having a complete embedded system....
