I sat down intending to polish a few things, and somehow ended up redesigning almost the entire site. The biggest problem before was that the website only really worked on a desktop. The hidden corners relied on hover, the layout wasn’t great on smaller screens, and outside of the terminal there wasn’t much personality. So I decided to fix all of it at once. The first thing was making the site actually workk everywhere. Everything is now properly responsive. At different breakpoints the layout reorganizes itself, grids collapse cleanly, fonts scale down, navigation wraps when it needs to, and nothing feels crammed anymore. The stats cards that looked nice in a single row on desktop now become two columns on tablets and a single column on phones. Speaking of phones…Those hidden corners used to be impossible to discover because, well, you can’t hover on a touchscreen. They now respond to taps instead. Tap a corner and the panel slides in. Tap somewhere else and it disappears. If you forget it’s open, it’ll quietly hide itself after a few seconds. Then I got carried away. The site now has a full-screen terminal. Press Ctrl + backtick anywhere and an entire terminal drops down from the top. It has command history, autocomplete, blinking cursors, fake networking commands, ASCII art, a virtual file system, and over 25 commands to mess around with. You can run things like:helpwhoamiprojectsskillsbannerneofetchfortunematrixcowsaypingcurlthemegithub…and a bunch more. It doesn’t really need to exist. Which is exactly why I built it. To make sure people actually find it, first-time visitors now get a small toast telling them how to open it. On desktop it’s Press Ctrl + backtick, while on mobile it points them to the terminal button instead ..And yes…If you’re on a phone, you can literally shake the device to open the terminal. Probably the most unnecessary feature on the website. Probably my favourite one too. While I was already breaking everything apart, I figured the site deserved a proper redesign instead of being one long page with a hero section. Every section now has its own identity. The About section cuts diagonally across the page. The hobbies, stats, projects and blog sections all use irregular clip-path shapes so almost nothing is a perfect rectangle anymore. On desktop it gives the site a much more distinctive look, and on mobile everything gracefully falls back to rounded cards instead of weird geometry.I also finally committed to the SudoTADS branding.Everything now comes from one set of CSS variables: black backgrounds, white text and the neon green accent. Impact handles the big headings while JetBrains Mono is used everywhere else, especially inside the terminal. One source of truth, which makes changing the theme later ridiculously easy. The biggest visual upgrade though was animation.I added GSAP.Instead of jumping into Three.js, I realised GSAP gave me almost everything I actually wanted with a fraction of the overhead. The hero now has animated SVG blobs floating behind the content, another blob continuously morphs inside the About section, cards reveal themselves as you scroll, the stats scale into view, and the header subtly shrinks once you’ve scrolled past it.No frameworks. No build tools.Just HTML, CSS, JavaScript and some CDN links. The website finally feels like it has story as you scroll instead of feeling like a landing page. There’s still a lot I want to build. The terminal has plenty of room for more commands, the fake file system could become much deeper, and eventually the Blog section will link to real devlogs instead of placeholders. For now though…It finally feels like a website that’s unmistakably mine."}, {"post_id": 27985, "ts": "2026-07-13T23:03:50Z", "hours": 1.7981, "text": "#Devlog #2 & #3: It Finally Looks Like a Website (with some eggs) Yesterday, I had three files and a button. I added a proper navigation bar, a hero section, an About section, and stats cards that give anyone who lands a quick snapshot of who I am. Still no frameworks. No build tools. No animations. The only JavaScript is a button that cycles through messages. I want to earn every line of JS instead of adding things because I can. —The corners— Then I got curious about what happens when someone actually explores. So I hid four panels at the edges of the viewport. They’re invisible until you wander your mouse into the corner, then they slide open(mobile excluuded rn but on it’s way.) But anyway, enough with that, I started reworking the audio for the 1st scene of the video, this time using royalty free music and sound effect (sadly we had to replace the nintendo switch sound effect to avoid any possible lawsuit lol) and of course all of the artists will be credited at the end of the video. At first I tried using curves and array modifiers to make the laptops move along a bezier curve but sadly because of the way the Macbook’s 3d model has been made, that was pretty hard and even then it was too hard to coordinate its movement with the Kursal screens they were suppose to show, so I had to scrap that idea. Instead, I just duplicated them over 5 layers twice and extended them on the side while the camera zoomed out. Now you might think the camera movement is a bit weird and stuff but don’t worry we’ve got an idea in mind with sound effects, nw. Finally this is just half of the work, as those were only the Dark mode color palets, so I’ll have to do the same with white mode and somehow make a cool animation with a switch that goes from night no day ,or the opposite I don’t really know yet but I remember having seen a tutorial for that in my youtube recommendations a while ago so we’ll see."}, {"post_id": 40414, "ts": "2026-08-03T21:56:11Z", "hours": 4.6669, "text": "fixed the camera movement for that last part and added a few things to make the scene look less empty. For some reason it doesn’t want to see the laptop as a single object made up of different pieces, but rather a random arrangement of stuff which cannot move together as one, so rotating it means that half of the components will spin in one direction while the second half will spin in the other. Furthermore for some reason some parts have a habit of straight up vanishing towards outer space, which really doesn’t help with the process. But anyway I still manage to animate the first 3 seconds as I envisioned and the rest is, well… to optimize in the future… But one good news at least is that we’re getting very close to the end. Sketched out the Kursal introduction video script (kinda) and animated the v1 of the first part using Blender 2D animation tool, even though it’s supposed to be used by 2D artists to animate their drawings, but somehow it still works quite well so whatever ig.
Started doing some stuff in Da Vinci Resolve like adding Texts and sounds, has a few Fusion issues to fix which was a nightmare but for now I have a proof of concept if you will, it’s nowhere near clean enough rn but it’s like a draft.
Because of my sheer incompetence in using Da Vinci Resolve, I decided I might be better off sticking with Blender, so I remade that last part in 3d, no sounds yet, but at least that took like half the time I needed to do the same in da vinci resolve. Gotta say, I’m still not happy with how it turned out rn, but I’ll fix it later nw.
Rendered all actual scenes I made in Blender together, and put some sound effects in (a bit randomly ngl) using Da Vinci Resolve (if my dumb ahh can’t do video editiong at least I can try sound design… I think). On that point there are some adjustments to make on the sound effects as we do NOT wish to get a cease and desist from Nintendo before the project even gets published in the first place…
Finally after 6 hours of rendering, we’ve got it. Yeah we brainstormed a bit more and finally found ideas for what we would do next in the video, so we’re doing a demo of 2 instances connecting to each other. Not finished tho, we still need them actually making contact and sending messages, and sound editing it all together, and then scene 2 will be finished.
daaaaamn that was atrocious but here’s the chatting demo section finally fully animated (for now at least…). Special thanks to that indian guy on youtube for the text’s typewriting animation tutorial lmao. Oh btw sorry but I was too lazy to render a proper gooq quality video this is 720p using low render setting, and I just noticed I forgot to get rid of the bar at the beginning but eh whatever who here cares anyway…
just spent two and a half hours trying to make a single object glowy because every tutorial out there was outdated or made everything glowy even the 2 windows. Why is Blender so complicated I swear.
probably gonna stop here for today so here’s the latest result, good enough for me but probably need a few tweaks either way.
Finally done with the decentralized network animation, which might be the hardest part in the whole introduction video. The connections are a bit weird since a majority of those animations play at the exact same time at the end but I just have to move the keyframes accordingly to what I want so I guess that’s an easy fix no worries.
After some thinking I finally figured out what I’m going to do next, hopefully what will be the last part of the video. For now I replaced the chat instances with actual ones and not just exact copies, and animated the central server to die out once everyone connects together through a decentralized network.
Just finished animating a transition between part 2 and part 3, got to play with blender’s geometry nodes a bit but I did need a quick tutorial for that last part ngl
I hate Blender, I just spent 8 hours straight without break fixing shit Blender messed up, and it’s still not done yet. Oh actually no I forgot we still have video editing and sound design to do after that.
Okay so I remade that last part to get rid of some of some of the animations glitches, it might not be as nice as I envisioned but it is definitely cleaner than my first attempt. Though I think I might have a few tweaks to do concerning the animation’s speed. But that’s it for now.
fixed the camera movement for that last part and added a few things to make the scene look less empty. And I re-rendered previous scenes to put them all together in order to get an idea of what the whole things looked like. I had to fix some minor stuff like transitions and glitched animations. However I noticed that the last part is way too fast and you can’t read the text so I’ll have to fix that next.
Managed to show off Kursal’s many color themes. Finally this is just half of the work, as those were only the Dark mode color palets, so I’ll have to do the same with white mode and somehow make a cool animation with a switch that goes from night no day ,or the opposite I don’t really know yet but I remember having seen a tutorial for that in my youtube recommendations a while ago so we’ll see.
ok so about that tutorial, well it turned out to be for after effects, not blender, so that sucks. But anyway, I still tried doing it myself, it doesn’t look as good but it’s fine. Don’t worry about the timings, that part was kinda rushed ngl, this is just a proof of concept after all.
I fixed that last part and started animating the final scene of the whole video, there isn’t much to say about it as there also isn’t much to show, but I will have to include the credits after that, once the video is completely done, including the sound design and everything. Btw I still need to make a proper transition between this and the previous shot, but I’ll do that tomorrow I think.
FINALLY !!! The animation is done, I just finished linking the last two parts with a clean animation and now we just have to render everything and edit it in adobe or Da Vinci with some sound effects and everything and that’s it. Well that makes it seem like it’ll be a fast and easy process but I’m pretty sure it’d be the complete opposite idk why…
Okay sorry for the delay, I had some issues with lapse as it seemed to have somewhat disconnected from my hackatime so it wouldn’t let me select a project to link the lapses to. But I just found out I can just type the name of this project, and even though it says it will create a new folder for that project, it still links to the actual Kursal file. But anyway, enough with that, I started reworking the audio for the 1st scene of the video, this time using royalty free music and sound effect (sadly we had to replace the nintendo switch sound effect to avoid any possible lawsuit lol) and of course all of the artists will be credited at the end of the video. Now I just have to find out what to do for the next scene…
Well I realized that Stardance doesn’t allow for soundtracks so the video stays muted and you can’t hear the sound effects and everything, which kinda sucks. But anyway I finished the project, the sound editing and added the credit scene at the end for all the sound effects, the musics, the Macbook 3d model and the SVG icons. However the video is 200 MB so that won’t fit in a github description… nor in here. So I’ll have to compress it heavily which will affect the video quality.
Ships:
Hey, I made an introduction video for my friend’s project Kursal, a decentralized messaging app with end-to-end post-quantum encryption. 100% of the visuals were made by myself in Blender, and the sound editing in DaVinci Resolve. No AI were used in the making process of this video. The goal of the video was to showcase the project to the world, and giving it a bit more visibility, even though I honestly just wanted to do it for fun ngl :) Btw they are a few references throughout the video. For exemple the first scene was directly inspired by the movie Tron Legacy’s intro lmao....

The most challenging part was making these new features feel connected to the rest of the OS instead of just being extra buttons on the screen. Devlogs:
Today I started working on ManentiOS, my personal web operating system. I chose the main theme, created a futuristic project banner, and wrote a short description for the project. I also built the first onboarding screen using React, JSX, and TailwindCSS. Then, I organized the code into reusable components like FeatureCard, ActionButton, and Onboarding. So far, the project has a clear identity, a visual style, and the beginning of a clean, componentized interface. My next step is to build the main desktop screen and add interactive apps.
Since the last dev log, I continued working on ManentiOS by defining a stronger visual direction for the project: a winter-inspired interface with forests, rain, landscapes, and a subtle technological touch. I also moved on to the second part of the WebOS tutorial and adapted the concepts from HTML, CSS, and JavaScript into my current React + JSX + TailwindCSS structure. Instead of using plain HTML and inline styles, I planned the desktop as reusable components. I created the idea for the main desktop screen, including a background wallpaper, a glass-style welcome window, a top bar, and a live clock using React state and effects. This keeps the project aligned with the tutorial while making the code cleaner and more scalable.
Since the last dev log, I continued developing ManentiOS by following the next WebOS tutorial step and adapting it to my React + TailwindCSS structure. The goal was to make the desktop window feel more like a real operating system window. I created a reusable OSWindow component with support for dragging, closing, and reopening windows. I also updated the desktop so the welcome window can be opened again from the top bar by clicking on ManentiOS. Instead of using plain JavaScript with querySelector, I used React state, props, refs, and pointer events to keep the logic more organized and component-based.
Since the last dev log, I created the first real app for ManentiOS: FrostLog, a winter-tech journal app with selectable entries, a desktop icon, and its own draggable window. This followed the tutorial step focused on adding the first app to the WebOS. I also improved the desktop behavior by fixing the z-index system, so app windows now appear in front of desktop icons while the top bar stays above everything. ManentiOS now feels more like a real WebOS, with icons, apps, draggable windows, and better window layering.
Since the last dev log, I completed the final WebOS tutorial step by building more advanced apps for ManentiOS. This stage was more open-ended, so I decided to create two useful apps: a Calculator and a Projects portfolio app. I added new desktop icons, connected them to draggable app windows, and improved the window system to support multiple apps more easily. The Calculator now performs basic operations, while the Projects app showcases my work inside the OS.
Since the last dev log, I improved the first screen of ManentiOS by turning it into a login-style onboarding page inspired by Windows, but with the winter-tech visual identity of the project. I also made the buttons functional, allowing users to enter the OS normally or open specific apps directly, like the Projects app and FrostLog. After that, I worked on the portfolio experience by improving the Projects app and filling it with my best GitHub projects, including ManentiOS, PoupApp, Manenti Slack Bot, Custom Macropad, and other web/full-stack projects. Now ManentiOS has a stronger first impression, a more useful portfolio section, and feels much more like a complete personal WebOS.
For this new mission, I added three major updates to ManentiOS to make it feel more complete as a web operating system. First, I created IceDock , a bottom dock that lets users quickly open apps and see which apps are currently active. Then, I added a Settings app, where users can customize the visual mode and switch ambient effects like snow, rain, or no effect. I also implemented a Command Palette with Ctrl + K , allowing users to search and open apps quickly from anywhere on the desktop. These updates made ManentiOS feel more like a real OS, with better navigation, customization, and a more polished winter-tech experience.

For this project, I made ManentiOS , a personal web operating system that runs directly in the browser. I also created a nice embedded JS script in the projects.html that finds repositories, public repositories on my GitHub and stores them as projects. That’s very easier, more easier than what I have done previously, type everything manually onto the HTML, hard-coded, essentially. I’m very pleased with the result. It took me around four hours plus two hours for debugging and searching CSS designs. Also the color pallete i took from a ui optimization instagram post
Brooooooooooooooo! I rebranded again! Now it is the best version yet! It is a retro game console super mario inspired site. Most work was doing the css it was DREADFULL tbh. now I am designing the images!!
This site I finally feel is something that represents me + it has a better UX/UI overall! It is quite Neet SO here is what I added: EVERYTHING changed Here is WHAT CHANGED New Landing page features pixelart I made 2 types of content bgs: one for serius staff blank white 👌👌 and one for more silly and myself stuff pixelated letter paper Ig or smth (it is just yellowish and has black outline like wow) H for a very cool menu/hub inspired by playstation mid game dropdown activated by the ps button. SCROLL DOWN prompt to signify there is more to see I was told the colour pallete was not optimal to say the least so now it is much simpler paler and themed altho there are some hints from the previous one (i love purple) Now the screen is actually snap screen so 2 categories won’t overlap Replaced Spotify copycat w/ a game selection menu where more info are only available by tapping the middle button (github icon) Plus a small pixelated version of me gliding on your screen
Fixed some sizing issues and text overflow! I added some more details!Previous devlog mostly describes this!
I spent 3 hrs to make my own music track ro bg music to my personal website and I had to learn sonic pi from ground up so I can show it in my personal site as a coding achievement and I think it is rly solid if you want to mute it u can mute the whole page.
I added a my artsy side section in which you can click a polaroid photo and get teleported to my creation. I am thinking of adding custo contact links and game selector controls skip previous and play and then implement them in this site! I also updated the bg music to all the pages of my site except blogs cause thay gotta be read in seriousness. second screenshot is hover animation!
Drew all network links: https://lapse.hackclub.com/timelapse/tVeIk_5bqSzo and fixed them to 50 by 50 with css. Now I am off to the github repository selector where I basically need to draw one arrow and flip it upside down once so it will be very easy! Then I don’t know what else I could! However I am very happy by how it has turned out cause it expresses me better than any previous version!
I cleanedup the css cause it was a mess and I replaced the white boring div card with my pixelated fun super cool yellow version: This WAS NOT as eay as it seems. I was stuck for a WHOLE HOUR trying to figute out why it is still overflowing after all the padding I added… So after adding some borders, sprinkling in some exceptions and hating myself for not understanding css grids earlier I made it! YAY! I think this is one of my finak devlogs on this project cause literally what more could you ask for?! Btw this is me after realising it was not a padding problem but a background clip and origin problem!
I made a mute button for the music to achieve the best UX! JUST LOOK AT IT! No outline for the red line cause IT WOULDNT BE COOL!I also made t so you cant have it open on a small screen with a mice waning! And LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST I made an oppinion logger for anyone to share their opinion abt my site,me,my projects and my so called art!
I polished up some things and added stats section cuz Y NOT?LOWK TS is peak! When I mma gonna get super Project? This Might be the finest work of art the frontend word has ever seen!Like PROVE ME WRONG!BTW for the devlog I was about to post an AI slop gif saying peak but my pattern recognition kicked in and I found a human made (I hope it is) Akso PLS MAKE this NO. 1 on the explore page 😭😭💀💀 More about the session : My mom bought me a bathroom duck from the supermarket(Thx mom) I used a github readme activity/commit graph for my github stats The Leetcode and codedex are hardcoded I have NOT found an API yet or any stat form… My next project might be creating a dev stats api if you’d like that idea like and comment “banana” below Also can you guys pls follow me and star my github repos Sry for yapping I didn’t have much to say on the session itself (MY HTML slop Bores me)
GUYS I DID IT! SO my last addition was: A listening to widget just cuz music is such a big part of my personality (it was a headache to implement, I ended up usin last.fm). As a final summary Before shipping here are all the features: BG music I MADE (no AI slop point +1) + a mute/unmute button A hub interface HUD for the most important parts of my personal page Sections: MyName, AboutMe,Skills,Achievements,Dev Stats,MyArtsySide,ContactMe,Visitor Log, A projects page , A blogs page w/ 2 blogs) Interactive UI: click arround😉😉 The content on my page is TOO MUCH, TRUST ME I KNOW BUT it is a PERSONAL SITE after all and I believe it represents me best. It is way better than using UI palletes I found on Instagram. Also mind u all the artwork and UI is hand painted and I think I did preety good plus no mean water jugging UI, EVEN THO I drank 5L in one day so I am basically replacing AI (Yeah!) Pls star my repo or support me if u can and want. ADMIT IT. this is the coolest website known to man 💀💀. I am off to polish the rest, see you on shipping!
Hello just a lil fix here! Nothing I can actualy work with to write a qualitative devlog! Basically because I was told TOO many times the sizing was messed up on laptops I changed every size metric on my site to rem so it is scalable and remains asthetiacly appealing across all browsers… Thats all… I got the 3D printer I wanted as a prize for my projects and I am so jolly that is y I log less! me:
Ships:
I used HTML, CSS and JS. The repo is public but I submited everything at once because of working on it localy and It has a readme with contents and what I learned plus a small description of the site. The site is fully deployed with github pages as the guide suggested. I have in total 6 sections and 4 extra css and js features the guide didn’t cover. My css is custom, you’ll notice the stardance and hackclub words are in the color of the hackclub logo.Didn’t use AI, I am part of the boycott chatgpt group.
Visit my portfolio. I’m really excited. I put a lot of work into it. I researched a lot to find the specific CSS for frontend, like the donut chart and everything. It was pretty fun. I look forward to creating more projects like this. Please support me. Feel free to point out any improvements you would make.
I removed the Stats cause they felt too much and didnt work properly! bout my project ALL the artwork/code/UI design was made by me (+1 for no AI) Even tho I have made other versions of this site in the past I think this one describes me best Hub opens/closes w/ H Music can be muted by top left button click the big caracter behind my name or drag the walking kiddo at the bottom of the screen The pages and sections are: index.html -> Hero,About me,Skills,Qualifications,My Artsy Side, Contact Me, Leave a review! projects.html -> A selection screen of all my projects linked to a github repo blog.html->blog1,blog2 PLSSS READ MY BLOGS You might notice blogs have the least ammount of extra stuff cause I want the user to be 100% focused on my written form of ART. THE SITE IS TOO MUCH CAUSE I AM TOO MUCH Every last addition describes a feature of me PLS VOTE AT LEAST 7/10 I HAVE PUT MY WHOLE HEART INTO THIS PERSONAL PAGE (literarly)...

Devlogs:
Website Scraper Through the use of the JSoup java library I tried implementing a website scraper, witch takes all of the elements on a website and displays it as plain text on the console. This method worked for less secure sites such as wikipedia, but on most recipe sites that may use cloudflare it did not work. This is likely due to the anitscraping measures cloudflare has set. To work around this I may play around with other java libraries that usually have a higher success rate. Also, I don’t know why my coding time saved under the ‘user’ project in hackatime rather than a frictionless project. If anyone can help with that, that would be lovely.
Ingredients can now print on the console I have just finished a prototype version where, when given a recipe link, the ingredients of the recipe are printed. This took a lot of time, and I had to change what package i used to make it work. The trick to make this work really boiled down into the fact that most recipe websites store their data in json. As a result, this is really easy to scrape and extract. Here is an example of the ingredients of some chocolate brownies printing in the console.
Scraping & Parsing logic fully complete! After a lot of work, I converted the code from printing the recipe onto the console to returning it as a JsonObject. This will ideally allow me to use an api to fetch it from a frontend website. I tested the program with various recipe websites and they all seem to work! Originally, I was having trouble with website security features but through the use of selenium I was able to get past to the website. For the next devlog I hope to be done API integration, and some basic front end testing.
Recipe now sent via http! Through the use of the spring boot and Spring java frameworks, I was able to take my preexisting recipe extractor, and send the json data locally via http. Right now this only works locally, so my plan is to have this running on a server where it can be called on at any given time by the front-end. Learning how to use the Spring framework in java was quite hard, and this was the first time I worked on back end work like this. As a result, I did use AI to assist with spring boot implementation. the way you can run the program with any recipe is by, when the program is running, go on your browser, and enter the assigned port with the following attatched: /api/extract?url=RECIPE_URL This is truly a big step for me now that the back-end is completely done. Now, I will be moving on to creating the actual website that the user will interact with.
Basic website complete! I have finished a prototype website. Right now the website looks like hot garbage, but I plan to change that. The way it works is it asks the user for a url, witch they put in the textbox, than after the input is error checked it is sent to the localhost server, with the input attached to the end of the url. Then, the recipe information is sent back to the website, where it is than displayed as plain text. In the future I plan on running the java application on my nest serve, and I will also look to find a way to host the website. Also, I plan on making the website look nicer as my next step.
Got Nest Server Request Handling Working! Instead of running the java program on my local computer I got it to run in a terminal window on my nest container. To accomplish this I used tmux. Thus on my website, I can send requests to the admin1.hackclub.app website rather than local host. This is a big step in the right direction, as it allows me to run requests 24/7. The next steps for this project is to polish up the website and get a domain for it. After that, the project will be ready to ship.
SO MANY BUGS! So, my scraper is working perfectly on my laptop but sometimes when I run it on the nest server it does not work for specific websites. For example, for some food network recipes it seems to be redirecting me to an alternative link. My hypothesis for this is that it thinks i’m coming from the uk (perhaps server location) and is trying to redirect me to the uk website. Hence, my logs show for a lot of the failed attempts the page title being “Recipe and Global Dishes | Food Network UK”. Next steps for me may include retrieving the url to see if a redirect occured, and perhaps checking if I can configure the headless chrome i’m using to show as being a static country such as always being in the us… We will see…
Errors With Some Recipes Continue to Persist I can not seem to fix the issue where some recipes redirect the user to their local home page via popupos. I tried setting the chrome drivers language and country to the US and english, but it seems like they are using IP to determine location. Thus, due to the usage of a nest server where the IP is likely not in the US I am unable to access some websites. If anyone has a solution that would be much appreciatecd. I consulted an llm to see if their is a solution but their was no luck finding a simple solution. The only solution that i think would work is the use of a proxy but that is to complex for me.
Hello! This will probably be my last dev log for this project. I am quite happy with the result. Though the website does not work with all websites, it does with a lot of them. Hello Humans. I have been working on my recipe extractor but I keep on hitting walls. I have updated the coad to work on a broader set of websites. Here is the website working on a recipe that was flagged for not working when originally shipping the project so yaay! Basically, 3 hours of work and little progress accomplished.
Hello, I forgot to log this hour before shipping, but I just worked on the java code a bit and tried fixing some of the underlying issues in the code that I discussed in previous dev logs. Some issues still persist, but the website does work for a significant portion of websites.
Ships:
For this project I set out to make a website that takes any recipe online, and leaves you with only the recipe;without all of the boring story. Fortunately that is exactly what I have accomplished. This website works on most recipes, especially from blogs. Through this project I went through so many hurdles. Originally, I thought that creating the web scraper would be easy, but I was so wrong. I went through so many failed attempts. On the first attempt I could not even reach the website (encountering an http error). Than, I pivoted to a different java library for my web scraping. I hope you enjoy this project and the countless hours spent to make it real!
In this Ship I continued to try and fix the underlying issues with scraping some websites. I believe I got some more working, with more thurough JSON checking. Their are some that still dont work due to the aforementioned cloudflare issues...

Devlogs:
Making fully fledged chess inside Python Turtle.
Created functions for repeated tasks.
Added coordinates for the chessboard with a new function called print_coordinates. I also added a bouncer function to check if a piece is trying to move to a square that has a piece of the same color. If it’s trying to capture its own piece, it doesn’t allow the move. I implemented this by creating a new function called is_legal_move.
Added legal moves and support for the knight, king, rook and pawn. The bishop is on the way
Welcome back to my pit of inevitable doom, where I’m trying to build fully fledged chess inside pure Python turtle. This devlog is because I finally managed to get a glimpse of the sunlight and add the special moves and captures for pawns. Before right now, pawns could only move one step forward no matter the place, and they actually captured by going forward into the enemy. If you play chess, you know it’s not like that. I have now implemented the following: Two-step support for pawns going on their first move. Logic so that pawns cannot capture pieces directly in front of them. Support for pawns capturing pieces only on their front diagonals. Follow along if you want to see if I ever get out of this!!! :D
Added basic promotions when the pawns go to the opposite side (for now they default to only queen promotions, more coming soon) and right now started working on the final boss of chess programming… Checks and checkmates. Wish me luck!
Finally, I can say that I’ve built chess—fully fledged chess—in Python Turtle. I added check, checks, checkmates, and all the logic that makes them up. I also created a new function called has_legal_moves, which takes one parameter to see if the attacker is white. In total, I defined 11 functions back to back in the Python file. It seems funny, but that’s what was needed. Thank you, every1!

today i was 3d modeling the boat in Autodesk Fusion and then printing the pieces
I finished printing the 2main parts but i forgot to do that it fits together…So i started trying to do it with my grinder but it would take too long so i decided that i will just update the model and then restart printing…so we will see
i have been fixing the piece and then printing it for 3hours
i have been installing the motors etc. on the boat and my estimation is that i could finish it tomorrow
testing if everithing works well

so… it’s been week since I lasted posted. I want on a vacation and wasn’t able to code so I didn’t have time and the place was fun. back to main point of this I was able to finish the home page and made a cool color change transition with AI help so that’s great. If it doesn’t say anything about AI that means I forgot to add the AI disclaimer. edit: link for page -> https://daveandbustrer.github.io/my-personal-website/
first ship done YIPEE! now I made the links in the uhh… project page. the links are also rainbow
I redid the nav bar so that it’s the same in all the pages without me having to change it for every page I just put it into the page through js
i finnaly fixed the navbar issue but now have multiple other issues with the navigations
i got rid of the folder structure since I can’t figure out why the links wasn’t working so I got back to the original files on one level, but it works and I got navbar working in one file with strings instead of html. I might change that back to html. I wasn’t able to post since I had to go to school, and I have 2 APs so that took most of my time.

I made my personal page that looks good and the hardest part was definingly the changing the color when scrolling down since I got help and some code from AI
I added the devlog page that transports people to the hackclub pages for devlogs(if they work) and I made the navbar seperate from the pages by injecting them into the pages. That was extremly difficult when it was in the folder format and easier when it was in the flat file format but in the end, I choose the file format as it made it easier for me and I usually keep my folders open either way. I also added some formating and info to the pages...

Devlogs:
I just finished the Home Page, it has cool animations and fonts to really grab the person’s attention and get them more interested in using PULSE and paying to use it. As you scroll many animations will happen and I am now coding the buttons to look at more info.
The Ask Pulse AI assistant was improved with better context, smarter fallback responses, and a request timeout to make it more reliable. The system prompt and API were updated for better flexibility, UI components were enhanced with improved interactivity, data fields were made consistent, and the deliverable was updated with the latest changes.
The Pulse demo data was moved to a centralized persisted store so changes are saved across navigation, page refreshes, and browser restarts. A reset option was also added in Settings to restore the original sample workspace.
Reworked the app shell and related screens to match the latest Pulse UI pass, added the calls surface, refreshed shared styling and auth presentation, and updated mock data, state, and assets to support the new layout. Included the current deliverables and dependency updates tied to the build changes.
I finished cleaning up the UI for the dashboard itself as most buttons and containers were unsatisfactory, I am going to work on getting the API keys next
I added the rest of the buttons and made sure a quick prototype is in work it looks good to me as of now more updates will happen
I couldn’t get all the API keys for the integrations so for now I am going to ship this and add things for a later ship
I added some animations and to the bottom right corner of the website there is an AI chatbot and since I gave it a proper API key it can do much more making a managers life much easier
Ships:
I did it for part of my startup this is the basic stuff I used a very basic AI looking UI but that is because I wanted base product out first but most core concepts I did.
I made a website to help people like my dad who is a manager manage his team without multiple tools....

Here are the features of the original site: Login page which would create a cookie that had user information including the user name, type, and more data pertaining to that particular user Login page would take you to the Home page on login, which would look different based on which of the contexts you were logged in as (this is basically checking if you are a school Admin , Teacher , or Student ) and would update the Navbar to include buttons linking to context -specific pages as well as the Dashboard based on this context Admin view had a Home page which would display overall school statistics Admin specific pages included pages to add or delete a course, or add, delete, or assign/remove a user from a course Teacher view had a Home page which would display courses taught and the amount of students in each course Teacher specific pages were pages to modify the grades of students, and each course would have its own page for editing the grades Student had no specific pages and would see their grades displayed in a table on the Dashboard on the Home page Navbar had a Logout button which deleted the aforementioned cookies by setting their “expires” value to 0 SuccessIndicator Indicated whether a form action succeeded or not by reading a GET request Similar pages were in one .html file and were modified based off a GET request parameter to display appropriate content What’s New? I completely remade the project by making a new directory and then rebasing the newly created project onto the previous repository stack. This added my files to the GitHub repo without me having to make a new one, which was convenient. I learned how to rebase using git to do this, expanding my knowledge of git. The project has been rewritten to mostly use .jsx files instead of the mess that was using .html , .css , .js , and .py files for a single page of the website. Now, every single component (whether that be a page, a styled form, or even just a header) has its own file, which makes everything WAY MORE organized! Every single form on the website is now a <FormStyled/> which is a component that I made. To make this work I simply add a JS object which has a key-value pair notation of Input Name - OnChange handler, which makes making forms way faster. Development has overall been way more pleasing as compared to not having react.js due to the amount of new things in react! Every single interaction with things outside the DOM is now in a convenient services/ folder, which includes files such as manageCookies.js and httpRequests.js which allow me to import certain functions anywhere in the code. This is an improvement over me simply copy and pasting the same code over and over again in two different files. Speaking of organization, all files are now organized in the src/ folder by type of component/use. Login page and cookies! I successfully created a cookie retrieval system for my school project. I am creating a school directory management system. The login page stores the login information as a cookie (if successful) and then the home.js file displays it! Next step: display different buttons on the side navbar based on the type of user!
I finished the main layout of the website and it works using python’s legacy cgi library, but now I am porting it over to use contemporary technologies. Currently, the program is written in HTML, CSS, JS, and Python with no frameworks, and uses 2 JSONs as the database. The plan is to port the project over to use react.js, tailwind css for styling, supabase for the database, and possibly even creating a REST API for retrieving certain user info.
Devlog 3: React.js! What’s Old? I never got to go in-depth on what this is, so now would be a good time as ever to do that. LINUS TECH GAMES Made the first minigame where you collect the pc parts with a 10 second timer !
MINIGAME 2 Your PC components have been scattered across the ground! Collect them all before they’re stolen.
Finished the hole game. i made the win and lose screen they make you quit. minigame 3 you gathered all your pc parts now you have to assemble them, there is no order or no timer since pc building should take time and patience

I made a PC-building game in honor of Linus Tech Tips, whose videos inspired me to start learning game development. Building this project was quite challenging because I ran into plenty of bugs along the way, but solving them helped me grow as a programmer and apply the coding experience I’ve gained since then. It was a lot of fun creating a game in Godot. Two years ago, I used Unity, so it was exciting to revisit game development with a different engine. You can try the project using the link below, or download the source code from GitHub. PS: Depending on your screen size, you may notice a gray bar on the web version. This is a known display issue that I haven’t been able to resolve yet, but it doesn’t affect gameplay. PSS: Its my first ship so it may have alot a bug, if you encounter any please contact me....

now it scans for markdown files in the input folder and writes html in the output folder :O go is pretty good for files and stuff but its a bit complicated imo
I switched to go templates instead of manually generating html. it honestly works pretty well :D . i also added a list of files in the current directory. im planning on improving this somewhat so that its more nicer to browse and looks more like a tree i guess
idk i refactored some things slightly, also now non-markdown files will be left alone :D so you can add images and css and stuff ! i might be forgetting stuff

My first hypothesis was that Jellyfin explicitly identified whether a request came from the browser or the mobile app. To test this, I created a temporary domain (observe-jellyfin.lunatria.com) and logged every request passing through Nginx (Screenshot 1 shows the logging setup). However, this turned out not to be the case. After inspecting requests from both the web and mobile app, I started comparing the User-Agent headers. I built a dual-purpose, smart touchscreen device that functions as a high-utility Universal Infrared (IR) Remote when in use and transitions into a desktop Live Weather Station and Clock when idle. Universal IR Tool: It features a custom touchscreen UI capable of capturing raw infrared signals from existing appliances, displaying their exact hex codes, and saving them with custom names using an on-screen QWERTY keyboard for later emulation (signal playback). Smart Power & Display: To maximize signal accuracy and power efficiency, the device automatically shuts down its Wi-Fi radio when entering active IR Mode, and instantly spins the wireless connection back up to fetch live weather data when docked or idle. What was challenging? The most significant challenge was hardware resource management and strict signal timing. Leaving the background Wi-Fi network stack active while trying to capture or transmit precise IR pulses caused microsecond delays and signal jitter. This resulted in corrupted hex codes. I resolved this hurdle by writing a strict power-management rule into the state machine: the system completely terminates the Wi-Fi radio connection the exact millisecond the user enters IR Mode, ensuring clean, interference-free hardware timers for precise signal emulation. What are you proud of? I am incredibly proud of the UI/UX integration and the custom QWERTY touchscreen keyboard. Designing a responsive UI on a small TFT screen that feels intuitive was a massive hurdle. Successfully implementing a dynamic naming system—where a user can tap an on-screen keyboard to instantly label a captured hex code as a human-readable string (like “OFF” or “VOL_UP”) rather than managing hardcoded array values—gives the project a highly polished, consumer-grade feel. What should people know so they can test your project? To successfully flash and test this project, reviewers and users need to know the following parameters: Required Libraries: Before compiling the Arduino sketch, ensure you have the TFT_eSPI library installed and properly configured for your specific display pinout in the User_Setup.h file. You will also need the IRremoteESP8266 library to handle signal decoding. Network Isolation: Keep in mind that when testing the IR Tool functions (CAPTURE/SEND), the device’s web and Wi-Fi features will consciously disconnect to safeguard timing accuracy. Testing Hardware: If testing without an existing television remote, you can target any standard consumer remote (such as an Light or AC controller) directly at your IR receiver module to verify that the hex protocols populate accurately in the display terminal.", "repo": "https://github.com/rithwik-nambiar/ESP8266-Smart-Weather-Station-and-Universal-IR-Remote", "demo": "https://github.com/rithwik-nambiar/ESP8266-Smart-Weather-Station-and-Universal-IR-Remote/tree/main/images"}]...

What did you make? Three consecutive work days have passed of me working on the 8-step interactive walkthrough. The first hour after writing out the full plan on paper was extremely discouraging. I had built the welcome sign pendulum previously and so I thought it would be simply to make the click and ensuing animation by just adding another img on top and making their animations identical. Not so. Even when I finally got the keyframes of both correct without random jumping or awkward swings and visiting cubicbezier.com in search of a gravity-accurate acceleration, the two image just would not align. So I did the most obvious thing and made a new image of the two together in google slides. Once that was done, I was able to halve the css dedicated to the animation and move on with the walkthrough. From there, it was really just a lot of positioning elements correctly and setting timeouts perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised by how many elements I had that could be reused (if you explore my page, you may find all two appearances of my TV animation). The walkthrough is designed to get the user familiar with most every feature existing there while being more entertaining and thus less skippable. One of the biggest issues I found with my desire to keep adding apps was that I knew that very few people would even discover each piece of my page. Because my OS is obviously not in competition with Windows and Mac, I wanted it to at least be entertaining. Over the next few days I hope to share this project with friends and family in order to crush any bugs or inconsistencies that may remain. My Hundred Acre Woods OS is finally up after over an hour of trying to understand how VS code works (like where the run button is) and about 15 minutes of actually writing code so that my background image from Pinterest even shows up. So much time setting things up. I can’t wait to see what I can do with this, but it’s truly difficult for me to even get my priorities together at this point. I haven’t built a website in years. HAW OS is looking great: I downloaded a custom font by winnie the pooh himself (piglet’s was a little too messy for my purposes), introduced a welcome sign with a pendulum-like swing, and I have written in my html comments the vision as of this moment. This OS will make you learn how to navigate it by following an environmental puzzle. I have the first few steps in mind but I’m trying my best to keep it a secret because I want people viewing the page to have no spoilers beforehand. It’s going to be difficult. Both for me to set-up and you to solve. I’ve also been experimenting with vibecoding since my JS is rusty but built-in chat is honestly not very good for a beginner that insists on understanding everything it writes for me and I fall back on youtube tutorials 9 times out of 10. It’s just not worth it in my case except for when I can ask it questions for debugging quickly, and here it does an exceptional job of helping me move on without getting too frustrated.
I would post a much longer devlog here but my last was deleted because of the size of my video. So here is what I have done. The owl’s library app has been set up after much pondering on whether I should have a notes app at all considering how many other notes apps exist that are much better overall. However, I am very happy with the end result. ‘Owl’s Library’ essentially encourages you to create a curated collection of your personal tastes. Through building this, I also found the best way for me to build these apps moving forward is to create a rough draft html, move on to CSS, and only lastly to JS. Each devlog I make logs more and more time. It felt wrong to make an entire video recording of my OS before there were some real differences. Weather widget, battery widget, music player, and design clean-up are all off the checklist now. The majority of my time according to the hackatime report was my css file, surprisingly. I accidentally went an entire hour over the devlog 10 able to be logged :( …but I made so much progress! I firstly built the html for my timer and terminal, which were the last two apps I wanted. Forgot to attach this vid on the last devlog.
Hundred Acre Wood OS is (99%) DONE. I expect this process to be very little actual coding, likely less than half an hour in total. I believe however, like when writing, it is important to walk away from things you have worked on and come back with fresh eyes for increasing periods of time. There’s always a typo you just don’t see yet until someone else points it out for you.

Hundred Acre Wood OS is live! Thanks to everyone for all the encouragement I received on this very fast-track project that ended up taking just under 50 hours. The likes and comments were always very nice and were so fun to read in between my working on the project. I am happy to say that I have renewed my frontend development skills (the meta-goal) and gone even further past that into completely unfamiliar territory . This could not come at a better time as I prepare for college courses and would love to make programming a more frequent habit of mine as another method of studying and displaying what I learn. The best way to get better at something is to have a project in mind to work towards and I have proved my own advice here again by giving myself this task. Enjoy my project and share it with anybody that happens to be a fan of Winnie-the-Pooh! It was made with lots of love and care <3....
