I made my first website from scratch! More coming soon :)
I made it so you can add, edit, and delete recipes! It looks bad but I’ll fix it later :)
You can now add instructions to your recipes as well as get a grocery list based on what items you have added to your shopping list! More coming soon!
Trying to connect a firebase account/database system to the RtG website is hard! I’ve spent like 2 hours on it and even with AI help I’m still confused 😭
Finally figured out firebase! Now you can create and use your account to add/delete/edit recipes. The UI is still bad but I’ll fix it later.
Fixed the UI a bit and added better search mechanisms! Recipes to Groceries is now ready for personal use, and sharing recipes will come soon ;)
Tried adding a system to import recipes from url but failed due to CORS blocking me from accessing other websites :( Also added 2 new starter recipes and fixed some mobile bugs.
I finally added public recipes!!! You can now create, edit, delete, AND publish recipes on my free website Recipes To Groceries! All recipe ingredients can be turned into a grocery list with smart combining and eventually unit conversions and everything ;) Feel free to test it out anonymously with the dummy email. I also improved the UI and color-coded the recipes cards. Next update will hopefully have either a better grocery sorting system or more social features (ratings, proper usernames, comments??).
Added more starter recipes to my website and make it more friendly for mobile. Also added a cook mode and better button UI.

I almost have Serde working with JSON. I still need to figure out how to get the information out of the message sent by the mediawiki api. The problem there is how the API sends information verse how I know how to parse it with Serde. I am currently using a method for parcing which requires telling the program what each level of JSON is. The mediawiki api puts the page ID number in a level above all the information I need. The ID number would change with every diffrent search. You may be able to see how that would be a problem. Need to figure that one out. And I need to then make the TUI that displays the text. And I should figure out what to do if the program comes back with more than one page. And I need to figure out how I want to display the flags. Probably with ratatui-image, its just a matter of getting it to work with everything else. The only working instance of it I have is in a sub command of PRTGN dedicated to displaying an image (PRTGN_Fox).
There is a fully functional JSON API and some formatting now. I was able to get the header image URL as well. Now the main thing I need to do is figure out the UI for displaying the information. I was originally going to use Ratatui-Image for the images, however discovered it doesn’t work very well in Windows. Normally I am using either WSL or my install of Fedora, so for all my other projects this isn’t particularly an issue. However, I am developing on Windows currently due to some of my other projects. And I want people to be able to use this program in Windows. So I will need to investigate that further. Though enjoy this video which may or may not work of the current standing of the program.
Spent this three hours trying to get images to work. I am worse off than I was before starting this segment. Now nothing displays on the output. Codestral was no help in debugging. It just told me to add more logs, which I did because they are useful. Still doesn’t work because nothing was actually changed, still says to add more logs. The cycle repeats. Tried multiple different terminals with and without WSL. Nothing. I know Konsole should work, and Windows’s terminal, as they work fine in my other programs. But no. Apparently they don’t want to. I know halfblocks works. I have used it before. It is not at all good quality, but it should at least display. Need to figure that out.
I abandoned that version of image displaying. Reverted to the working just text from earlier. Though at least there is text wrapping now. And error handling.
I got the new screen to work! I am close to a first release. At first the screen was a bit wonk but after changing a couple of numbers, I fixed it. Enby is without the fix, trans is with the fix. Now all that’s left to get a first release, is adding render engine selection so that halfblocks isn’t used for everything, adding a few more user instructions, and making install files. At least as of typing this that’s all that is left. Next version may see a fancy in-terminal web browser for the link. And maybe some UI cleanups.
The first release is here. . . I made the UI look more like I originally wanted, which I am now realizing that I never shared the drawing of. It originally didn’t work very well. The issue was that I am apparently bad at typing numbers. I put the wrong indexing location for some of the widgets / layouts in render_page. That was an easy fix though. The images in this post will show that issue. , , Because of what happened last devlog, I am anticipating that the images will not display very well and have pre-uploaded them to Dropbox for your viewing enjoyment. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/1jxnglincmsw2ji6hybp9/ABBOiI6-PvWQRNzOfEsT32A?rlkey=jh4r8jwidm8mqgjxkxey5xm2z&st=4yolviyf&dl=0 , , I debated about how I wanted to distribute this for a while. For one of my other projects (PRTGN, https://git.gay/PRTGN-Development-Team/.prtgn ), I had used GitHub actions. But I am no-longer using GitHub. Forgejo has actions, though I don’t seem to have access to the necessary runners from Git.Gay. Granted I didn’t try very hard to figure out how that actually worked. I diffident want to switch back to Windows just for compiling an exe (I switched to my Linux install for the final bit of coding as a celebration of the first release. Don’t question my logic or what I find honorable.) and cross-compiling didn’t want to work. OS Error 2. So I ended up at crates.io. Only downside is one needs Rust to install the program. , , There is still much that can be done, but this application now fully fits its original intent. A Rust based CLI application that provides information on different LGBTQIAS+ orientations and their flags. , . https://git.gay/nova-shadowtail/Rustic-Pride . https://crates.io/crates/rustic-pride
Ships:
Rustic Pride - A Rust based CLI application that provides information on different LGBTQIAS+ orientations and their flags. It does exactly what the name says currently. It provides information and flags of different LGBTQIAS+ orientations and terms. All from the MediaWiki powered site https://lgbtqia.wiki/ . Currently Rust is needed to be able to install the program, as crates.io is the only distribution method. I debated about how I wanted to distribute this for a while. For one of my other projects, I had used GitHub actions. But I am no-longer using GitHub. Forgejo has actions, though I don’t seem to have access to the necessary runners from Git.Gay. After building three programs with it. Slint was a lot easier. But that’s not in the terminal. Slint was even pre-ai coding. Ratatui I get to use Claude and Mistral and Gemini (and the amazing documentation Rust crates have) to figure things out. Most of this project’s UI I was able to yoink from one of my other projects though. The only entirely custom to this project UI element is the query response page....

So far, I’ve designed the basic layout of my website and then the pages for the first ship!
I finished designing the layout of my website. I also changed up the colors a bit to be more appealing. For the About Us, Environmental Issues, and Steps to Take Today, I added content relating to the mission, issues India is currently facing, and steps that people there can take to combat those issues.
Worked on developing more content!
Small fixes in usage were made!

Coldline-inspired alarm I’m sooooo clueless. This is my first ever attempt to design a schematic, PCB, and CAD (CAD-ing, I guess?). Schematic? All good, a piece of cake. PCB? A lot of retries, but still manageable. CAD? OH NO NO NO. A PHASE OF ABSOLUTE DOOM AND DESPAIR
uhm. long story short, I revamped everything twice. why? it turns out, the display is much longer than I anticipated. so the pcb layout must be tweaked. the cad model is… suboptimal if i say. but i think i’m getting hang of it. now i know how to use sketch, dimension, and extrude properly. still, i have a long way to go.
Made the phone box and outline of the… ummm… phone? phone handle? I learned the best way to shape the phone box is to design the lid first, and then the walls. Last time, I did the reverse, so that’s why I’m stuck. The amount of effort required to create a simple shape made me respect hobbyist and engineers more. I literally spent most of the time trying to figure out how to make symmetrical phone, lol. I tried to make the phone 3D, but again… It’s harder than I thought. I ended up to restart the 3D-fication process of the phone.
Yo… why is my phone tweaking? DAY 3 STUCK IN CAD PHASE BTW. GRRRRR. Maybe I should migrate to fusion instead? Sure… Lot of the community advice me to do so.
Based on some Slack feedbacks, I migrated to Autodesk Fusion. The progress is minimal today. This is due to tomorrow’s science exam. Maybe I’ll start a dead-grind tomorrow to make up for the wasted time. My target is to finish the project’s design by the eight of October. Ohhhhh, time is running out so quickly, isn’t it?
Made the top, side, and a bunch of garbage sketches. This time, I’m exploring surface modeling. Huft… How newbie am I? I don’t even know if I can make it on time. Seems there’s no progress on the CAD phase ;( How can making a telephone handset be this hard?
What happened today? ALOT. Here’s a summary: Cooked by my arc nemesis: “Rail not smooth error”. Trying to “fix” projection and alignment issues (they’re now worse btw) Banged my head several times. Still stuck fixing the handset bell for 4 and a half hours Lobotomized myself Had a massive thinking moment Decided that “the handset aren’t necessary” Sacrificed the telephone handset to actually make some progress. Moved-on to polish the phone box. “Sometimes, a sacrifice must be made. Especially when you’re stuck for 6 devlogs in a row” - Sun Tzu I’m not lazy, okay? I’m just having a replan for effectivity . Note: Maybe , I will try to complete the handset once everything else finished.
Ehem… I think I had some… uhm ‘development’. Remember when I first starting the project? That time, I hate CAD SO MUCH. Now…, I’ve found myself enjoying the CAD process. It is fun indeed. Here’s a list for what I’ve done and learned: REVAMPING the OLD UGLY phone box design. (I’m currently working on the internal walls. I learned to trust the process I learned that I can use formulas inside dimension tool. So I did! I learned to apply the Pythagorean theorem to my design! (I know it’s pretty basic, but hey, everyone has to start somewhere)
Today, I finished the all-new phone box body. Yeay! Not exactly “smooth”, and I’m not yet added the handset holder + mold. But hey, at least some progress can be made (I’m to sleepy to continue, sorry!). WOooO, I’m so excited to finish this project.
The last piece (i think) is done! The phone box lid is done, yeay OHH GOSH, I’M SO EXCITED TO DO THE CODING. WooOoOooo
Because I know there will be a lot of trials and errors, I’ve recreate the schematic inside Wokwi and set up Wokwi simulator inside VS Code (I mean it’s free and why not?) I don’t use Wakatime this time because I’m not yet started coding. This is just me or the TFT display pinout is a bit… weird
Okay… I’ve worked on the basic datastructure of the firmware. Yeay! So the most unique thing about this alarm I made is that you need to complete three minigames to get three ‘verification code’ that you must memorize in order to shut down the alarm. BUT… I want the alarm to be extra pesky, so some of the minigames in a session (1-2 of them) would require ‘unlock key’ from other minigame in the same session.
The overall loop flow is completed. BUT THE MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE FIRST MINIGAME IS COMPLETED (aside the UI draw aspect) Okay… this thing took longer than I thought… I’m kinda overwhelmed, but overall still fun WAIT, YOU CAN UPLOAD MORE THAN ONE IMAGE ON A SINGLE DEVLOG? I just found out about it…
Second minigame is completed! (aside the renderer… so yeah, no demo can be showed yet) Aside from the minigame, there’s also a slight rework to ensure ‘consistency’ and ‘developer’s QOL’. Furthermore, the code are now microscopically more optimized!
Completed two more minigames (#3 and #4). That means every minigames I planned so far are coded, yeay! (more minigames may be added soon) The current available minigames are: Simon Slider match (like Fisch reel mechanism, but three of it all at once) Slider hit (sorta like) Where’s waldo.
Ehem… A quick recap. It turns out, inputs handling are not-so-basic after all. At the first glance, everything seems easy. I thought the concept was simple: analogRead -> register into a struct -> return. But it turns out everything is… a bit messier. I ended up learning what are interrupts. Another couple of things that I finished were the lockscreen (aside the UI elements ofc) and the alarm buzzer. The lockscreen are somewhat trivial, meanwhile the buzzer made me relearn about PWM.
Found few genuinely dumb issues (mb): FORGOT TO ACTUALLY RANDOMIZE THE TOKEN. This is the most fatal one. Forgot to reset the menu data. So the user’s probably will stuck inside a single minigame Just learned that C++ tends to have weird quirks if you define a variable inside unscoped switch/case statement. Forgot to update set any_sw_clicked nor the rotary encoder button click. I’m so sorry if I can only develop this project for about few minutes tonight because there are a lot of going on today. Sorry :
OKAY… That’s a LOT. Okay… First of all, the clock’s system (aside from the visuals) are now be fully operable as the final architectural pieces has been completed. Second, completely eradicated delays in #1 minigame. Third. KILOTONS of bugfixes (mostly the fatal ones) (I’ve just realized I accidentally have two different commits named “FIX #3” lol) Fourth. OHH FINALLY MY BACK CAN REST!
Working on the user interface! The first ~20 minutes is me trying to pick between Figma or Photopea (I decided to use Figma), how to import font, and how to get started with Figma. So I did learn some fundamentals of Figma I changed the planned font from FreeMono to TomThumb. It’s simpler, small, scalable, and stylized.
Okay… The first renderer is on progress! To make things simpler, I decided to make my own Vector class. I’m sorry if I can’t grind very much this time…...

The main functionality of my bot is finished. I will be working on getting it to be live 24/7. Also looking for suggestions as to what to add next
I got the bot working 24/7 using nest. I had some trouble figuring out how to update the bot so that it would use the latest version 24/7, but I figured it out eventually. Also added both Bluey and Pikachu as drawable characters and implemented the asciified API to add ASCII text.
I’ve been working on trying to make the bot available for anyone to use in any Slack workspace. I tried to accomplish this without a domain because I didn’t want to pay for one, and I wasn’t aware of the free options available. Even though only 2 and a half hours are being logged from the occasional edits I’ve had to make in VS Code, I spent at least 4 hours on top of that working through this, mostly on the terminal. I’ve applied for the GitHub Student Developer Pack, which will hopefully allow me to obtain a domain and make this process much easier.
I took a look at the feedback I got on this project’s first ship. Some of the reviews mentioned how limited the draw feature was, so I implemented Claude Sonnet 5 through an API to generate images if the user provides an unknown subject as an argument. Unfortunately, the AI isn’t all that great at ASCII art, so it is probably best if only used for very simple subjects. I also decided to expand the predefined subjects from 4 to 10.
Another issue mentioned in the reviews was that some users struggled to figure out how to use the bot. Looking at the failed commands they attempted, it seemed that first-time users weren’t sure what commands were available. To address this, I added a welcome message that appears whenever someone joins a Slack channel containing the bot, directing them to the help command if they need it.

Sharing details, logging in on different machines, or keeping track of linked email credentials and extra CD keys becomes a chaotic mess of notes. We wanted to build a secure, lightweight, and stunning credential manager specifically tailored for gamers.
I’ve been working on Gimo , a small project I made to solve a problem I actually have: keeping track of game accounts, usernames, linked emails, and passwords across different platforms. I originally focused on getting the core app working, but recently I went back to the UI and worked on something that was bothering me: the desktop version looked good, but the experience wasn’t designed properly for smaller screens. So I made Gimo responsive for desktop, tablet, and mobile .

The application combines task management, focus sessions, reminders, and browser integration into a single, streamlined experience. The Chrome extension allows users to quickly capture tasks while browsing, while the desktop application provides a centralized workspace for organizing and tracking progress. One of the primary challenges was integrating the Electron desktop application with the Chrome extension while maintaining a consistent user experience. Packaging the application for distribution across multiple platforms and designing an interface that remains simple without sacrificing functionality also required significant effort. This project strengthened my understanding of Electron, Chrome Extension APIs, desktop application packaging, application architecture, and user-centered interface design. I am particularly proud of creating a solution that addresses a real accessibility and productivity challenge while remaining easy to install and use. To test the project: Download and install the latest release from the GitHub Releases page. Launch the Helpy desktop application. Load the Chrome extension using Chrome’s Developer Mode (Load unpacked or install the provided package). Create tasks, start focus sessions, and use the extension to save tasks directly from the browser. Verify that tasks and productivity features function as expected.
I have polished the previous version of the app. I have added a focus shield, a music and ambient noise player, an AI chatbot, a softer notification, and better personalization. Completely discarded the previous version of the Chrome extension and rewrote it and added better UI and smart web tools, making it so that you can customize the user’s plan from the Chrome extension itself. Made the bridge between the app and the Chrome extension smoother and better & made the app way more ADHD-friendly. # NOTE: make sure that you enable notification in your OS and BROWSER...

One day, I spent an hour working on the slider, but then it didn’t save. I haven’t worked on this project for a couple days since school started, so I decided to post a devlog at least for the hours I had done last week. Before on my first website, I had an about section with buttons below it for each interest, leading to a separate page on the same website. I wanted to make it more professional, so I removed the buttons and decided to style some cards with information on it. THINGS I ADDED: An ‘About Me’ glass card which expands when hovered over it In the ‘Interests’ section, four glass cards, which when hovered, open up a modal with more detailed information and playlists, reviews, recommendations, pictures, etc. A close button on the modal to close it, but the user can also click on the darkened window to close out of the modal Added some more travel recommendations A more subtle topographic background for the dark mode Changed the overall font of the text on the navbar and the text on the glass cards Extra info: I had some trouble positioning the glass cards, but for now I think it looks all right. NEXT STEPS: Add something next to the About Me glass card - maybe a picture or something? (I would love recommendations plz) Add a button that appears right after scrolling down on the modals that brings the user back to the top of the modal to close out of it if a user does not want or know how to exit by clicking the window Add the other sections Position each section in each viewport because I am having a lot of trouble separating them. So many updates for you!!!!! Since my first ship, I decided to make this personal website into a more professional one with cooler features. Don’t worry though, I have my first website saved in a different codespace! I have spent these 8 hours doing a lot of stuff! I started off with created a topographic background. I struggled to find the right image in Canva which would repeat correctly and wouldn’t look ‘broken.’ Next, I worked on the auto typing text which sort of describes me by saying “I am a musician, I am a coder, I am learning,” stuff like that. I created this awesome effect by following a YouTube video. I also added a moving gradient effect over my name and yes, I removed the banner with the scrabble tiles to create this new home page. After that, I spent a lot of time creating the sticky navbar. It was so confusing, especially because I wanted it to look perfect. In the end I also added a blur effect. Using another tutorial, I managed to create anchor links, which I had noticed on a couple of really good personal websites. Lastly, I designed a custom scrollbar, which I think really adds a nice touch. Right now, I am working on the dark mode button styling, and actually making it work. I removed all of the buttons and am working on to create it more professionally. If anyone wants the link to the old website, let me know! To make these changes, I used AI to help me debug the very confusing codes. Remember, I am still kind of new to HTML and CSS. DEVLOG #1 Hello!!!! I finally started working on my personal website! I am completely new to coding, and it was definitely challenging trying to learn HTML! DEVLOG #2 Hi! Today I mainly focused on learning CSS basics. I spaced the text on the website page, changed fonts, chose colors that I thought looked nice, and added some cool effects. I made a personal website, which is my first ever coding/tech project. It features some information about me and four other pages about my interests with pictures. Hi guys! This is a second ship of my personal website, but it is completely changed with more features from ship #1 (I still have it though!). Creating this website was very fun. I worked really hard on this website, and I hope you like it! NOTE: This website should not be viewed on phones, otherwise it’ll look weird. Laptops and desktop monitors are fine....

This time I’m actually trying to create the Linux distro myself :) The image I’ve uploaded is a preview of the shell. It’s still run on my Linux VM as it’s not built into a system yet.
In this ~4.5 hours, I’ve added many commands to PythOS: clear, date, ls, mkdir, touch, uname And the most amazing thing I’ve done, is adding arguments and options :). I do think that this project can let me learn a LOT more about Python, Linux and low-level things
After rewriting code for 7 hours and building the ISO file for more than 5 hours, I have finally built a bootable PythOS ISO file!!! What I have rewritten, was pysh.py to optimize the shell. In this 11 hours (shows 10 hours because of the limit of devlogs), I’ve worked on framebuffering with PyGame, it was kinda painful trying to learn writing GUI in a completely different language, but it’s kinda worth it and enjoyable :) Also the theme of the GUI is based on Windows 98
In this 6 hours’ work, I’ve added a handle to the windows for the user to drag them. Various APIs were also added, such as buttons, text and images. There is one more useful feature: window focusing. When multiple windows are added, you can focus on them by clicking on them just like normal OSes.

I added a lot docs so it is a lot easier to setup and understand :)
I removed the import-tree dependency in my nixos config so users need to download less inputs 🎉 It took some time because it was a bit difficult to reimport each file but I did it :)
I refactored my whole nixos config and removed another dependency, flake-parts , so that users need to download less dependencies! I built a fully customized, lightweight neovim config. It’s my first time I configured my neovim and its simple and just have some main feature of an ide. It’s NOT a full vscode config. The difference between neovim and e.g. vscode is that neovim *or vim in general) gives you the freedom to make it look a little diffrent from the others. I did it mainly because I wanted a nice editor but also for fun :) It’s my first time configuring neovim so I used the docs a lot and tried a lot of things. You can look at some screenshots in the devlog or try it out by yourself :) If you’re new to vi/vim/neovim, it is a terminal-based editor. You can press Esc and then :q to exit. If you want to see a transparent background, you need a terminal with a transparency option configured. My neovim is just configured to have a transparent background but if your terminal is just black you won’t really see an effect ;) The main difference to the first ship is that I removed some dependencies on my nixos neovim config so it is a LOT smaller but that was more difficult than I thought so it took 6 whole hours :/...
