Starting from entry to body! (its nothing yet!!)
Still working on the login ui, i finally have a password entry!!
no real changes but now when you enter the correct login you get sent to the desktop!
why does IndexedDB suck so much. no new graphical changes because ive been trying to implement indexeddb for an hour and a half and nothing else.
Sorry for ghosting! got distracted by other things in life. but here, have proto windows!...

Okay, so yeah the last cad model was… …unfinished I spent the time just making it look less… …BAD ima not even sugar-coat it the last one was bad. As you can see I added Chamfers and ventilation (because 5v DC motors under low load famously need ventilation). Next I will work on the wheels and tank treads (TPU) then I will wire up the electronics and probably find out I need to order some new MOSFETS because of COUGHS previous endeavors that left all mine fried (PiHut here I come!) (note to self: cut the waffle):
The rover tread rollers are coming along nicely (function wise that is, visually they look trash) and I have decided on a RPI Zero (2 with Wifi) for the on-board processing (Yay Debian) but here in Britain it is too late so I will only end up planning on doing a few more minutes but do a few more hours (watch the quality slowly deteriorate)
Yet again made the roller look a bit more polished and made sure that it could be screwed onto the motor… …now I will work on the treads themselfs....

SLASH #1 - Guitar CAD Remaking I remade the guitar neck; the measurements are all irregular, so I used cardboard to create templates to follow. I’m not entirely convinced by the result, but it should work. I’ve mapped out the measurements up to the seventh fret and think I’ll stop there, that’s all we’ll need for our project.
SLASH #2 - Guitar CAD Remaking I have finished the guitar neck by adding the frets and strings. Installing the strings was tricky because they vary in both height and curvature and they are not perpendicular to the neck. The next step will be to develop the desmodromic cam system to actuate the strings using MG90S servos and to mount all the new motors in their correct positions.
SLASH #3 - Fret CAD Remaking I’ve started working on the new key-actuation system; the previous version used electromagnetic solenoids that didn’t generate enough force and were very noisy, so I decided to switch to MG90S servos using a desmodromic cam mechanism. I’ve finished the first version of the servo assembly, but it’s MASSIVE, and I haven’t yet tested whether it actually works in practice. Tomorrow, I plan to continue laying out the servos on the guitar fretboard and running some tests with the initial 3D printed parts.
SLASH #4 - Fret CAD Remaking I have, I believe definitively (I hope), completed the connecting-rod-and-crank system for pressing the keys using MG90S servos. It was much more complicated than expected due to the precise, millimeter-scale measurements, but I managed it! Now “all” that remains is to adjust all the servos on the guitar’s 36 keys and build the support housing around them.
SLASH #5 - Fret CAD Remaking I’ve finished the first version of the servo housing unit. I aligned each servo individually to ensure the best possible positioning for pressing the keys. I built a sliding-tray enclosure system: the outer casing opens, allowing the entire assembly of servos to be slid out for maintenance or adjustments. I also created an alternative servo configuration to allow for stacking units on top of one another; I simply extended the piston and its travel range. The next step is to create a magnetic mount to attach the system to the guitar neck, and then to revamp the lower section on the guitar body that plays the strings.
SLASH #6 - Fret CAD Remaking I’ve also finished the mount for attaching the servo system to the guitar neck and made a few general adjustments; the first version of the upper section is now completely finished. Now it’s time for the lower section, the part that plays the strings, which should (in theory) be simpler to build.
SLASH #7 - General adjustments I’ve made a few purely aesthetic adjustments to the system and loaded all the parts developed so far into Bambu Studio with the correct print settings to determine how much filament and how many hours of printing we’ll need (spoiler a lot).
SLASH #8 - Guitar CAD remaking and string player I’ve finished the CAD model for the entire guitar, including the rest of the neck and the body, so I can get a full 1:1 view of the project. I also built a linear actuator from scratch for the MG90S servo used in the string-plucking mechanism; it works really well (I actually made a video of it but forgot to include it in the devlog lol) Now, I just need to finish the housing for the lower servos, adapt it to fit the Raspberry Pi screen, and complete the stand that holds the guitar upright while housing all the electronics.
SLASH #9 - String Player I’ve adjusted the servos and linear actuators for each string based on the precise measurements needed for perfect playability; I’ve also started building the external housing, it looks pretty ugly right now, but the screen and various decorations are still missing (let’s just pretend to believe in it).
SLASH #10 - String player After more than a month, SLASH is back with plenty of work still to do and only 12 days left until the WRO! Today, I refined the overall aesthetics by applying the final color scheme and finally finishing the underside mechanism that plucks the strings using the small screen connected to the Raspberry Pi. All that remains is to complete the stand—which will hold the guitar upright and house all the electronics—and print everything out; then, the project will finally be ready for completion. Zagreb, here we come!...

I worked on a initial Library for using SHM to push a buffer to wayland, and got a good version working i also started working on a simple info app that just displays some system info but i havent finished that.
I worked on the library that allows my userspace applications to talk to the compositor, i also implemented the WLR_layer_shell protocol which makes apps able to float above or below other icons and claim exclusive space. i also worked on the bare-bones UI library which makes it so that i dont have to always manually write draw calls to cairo or blend2d, i also scouted for different libraries to use for the drawing and landed on blend2d since its very feature rich, lightweight and supports text. A lot of the time was also spent fighting CMake and dependencies. in the image you can see a very bare-bones edition of the system showing how normal xdg apps float above the background while the taskbar floats above the bg but below, as well as just a simple foot terminal.
I worked on restructuring the project migrating to a bunch of different folders/repos to one big one that i can actually publish and is overseeable, alongside that i also worked on getting the wlr-foreign-toplevel-management protocol working, it doesnt fully work yet but i hope i get it right asap
I got my Flexbox style library working finally and i rendered a simple scene consisting of one root element and two smaller fill elements, it calculates! :D
I worked on rounded corners and outlines for my layout engine, since im on the go i havent been fully able to test it buut as soon as i get back ill upload a devlog with a full scene displaying my progress, i also had to learn about eulers which cairo uses (pain)...

It was a lot of work, learning about shadow roots and grapheme clusters, but it was all worth it. Basically, what happens is that the service worker (background.js) detects the keyboard shortcut that the user specified, and sends a message to the content script (content.js). In response to the message, the content script modifies an already created shadow root to display the text sent by the service worker. The content script shows the box for five seconds, then hides it. But what if the copied text is too long? Well that’s how grapheme clusters come into play. I want the text to be cut off at around 30 characters, but emojis to slice() are two characters long. That means that an emoji may get cut in half and be show incorrectly (😃😃=>😃), so we use the spread operator in an array. [... \" value😃 \" ]. slice ( 0 , 30 ) + \" ... \" I’m not going to go into the specifics of actually how it works, but that’s the general idea. I have never made a Chrome Extension before, so I used a fair bit of AI to look up commands (I pieced it together myself though). MultiCopy is going to be a Chrome Extension that you can use to copy and paste content with multiple shortcuts. For example: |--------| Copy -| Paste -| View -----| |--------|-------|-------|------------| | Slot 1 | Alt+Z | Alt+A | Ctrl+Alt+Z | | Slot 2 | Alt+X | Alt+S | Ctrl+Alt+X | | Slot 3 | Alt+C | Alt+D | Ctrl+Alt+C | etc. Today, I managed to get the service worker successfully communicate with the injected script when I pressed the keyboard shortcut Alt+X . When the keyboard shortcut is pressed, the service worker communicates to the injected script by executing const response = await chrome . tabs . sendMessage ( tab . id , message ) and the injected script listens for it via chrome . runtime . onMessage . addListener (() => { /*code*/ }) So when the keyboard shortcut is pressed, the service worker sends an instruction to the injected script telling it to copy the current selected text. We do this with const text = window . getSelection (). toString () This approach can’t copy images though, so I’ll have to make support for it later. Then, we send a response back to the service worker: sendResponse ({ status : \" success \" , text : [ text ] }) I haven’t added the storage logic yet, so now the service worker just logs the text to the console: console . log ( response . text ) Next I will add the copying logic, then I will add the pasting logic. The pasting logic will be a challenge because I have to find a way to paste it into the middle of text, but hopefully it will not be too much of a challenge."}]...
