Made a prototype to test the game boy but will switch to a xiao ESP32-C3 instead of an arduino nano every
Rewired and changed the code for the esp32-c3 but the screen doesn’t work :( I’ll test it to be sure it’s working tomorrow, but I feel like the internals are fried or something.
I tested the screen with an example code and it seems to work just fine. I believe it may be a problem with the code.
Changed the code so that the screen worked and rewired the gameboy to make it look better, also added a battery at the back.
Lots of changes in the code and some hardware this time. firstly added 3 square LEDS on top which are always on as a design choice and one blue LED which turns on with the buzzer. So, this is my first devlog on the project, this is a OS I built as a project to show off my skills when I get older. Right now, I got it exiting BootServices and into a standalone kernel, it has GOP support and displays the classic NTSC test pattern and a some text that says “WyattOS loaded”. I need to add sound support and some actual interface to it, but it’s a good start
I got audio to work! It uses the onboard buzzer to generate a 1000Hz tone for 1500ms. So I have added sound, a sleep function for timed events, and an actual printString function because debugging without a print function is actually torture. I don’t have a photo because nothing changed visually, so here is the photo from before
Made the test display a loading screen afterward.
I am working on adding some jokes and facts, got a main loop down, just need to add random joke generator
I got a total of 5 jokes and 5 facts that are randomly selected and am going to add a game menu
I am working on getting it to run… what is basically a glorified text file. So I can start breaking it down to other files and maybe make it so other people can make programs for it. Just getting a USB mass storage driver working has taken WAY longer than I thought and am in the middle of debugging it. Anyway, I hope I can finish it soon.
So… Funny thing happened… something went wrong and GitHub decided to delete all of the progress that was not committed… Which was the whole 8 hours of struggle to get file support working… So I am going to come back to files later and make a GUI interface...

Started working on my hackpad. Just did the basic bit of the tutorial. Issue I faced (not apart of total time): I accidentally deleted a symbol library at the start which took about 3 hours for me to find out what I did wrong 😭 .
Wired stuff. Had to rewire everything like 2 different times because i messed up and missunderstood how schematics work. Now I should be good. I’m one pin short, so I also researched ways I can fix it. I’m working on that now.
Finished working on my schematic and PCB!!! I had to use a pin expander because even if I used the matrix method, I would’ve been one pin short :/. Anyways thanks for reading!!
Worked on and finished the bottom part of my case! I just need to do the top now, which is a bit harder so I decided to get a 3D model of the board so i can make my case around it. i having hell with these bugs from new feauters rn!!!
i did a lot f things and small bug patches too and this a new sub version btw What changedSticky preview panel styling for the desktop two-column layout, with the mobile override kept static below the 900px breakpoint. Hey i know i didnt ship but i feel it aint ready and i wanna add more flavor like am learning react so i can use it for this and other projects

renwed the readme and added some code
Hey long time no see i havent been working here bec i worked on the other tick tack tread game project anyways i didnt do much but i tried some backend and made a db and tried to use it but idk if its worth it for a simple app but i mean its cool also srry this screen dont have my python files in it and json and jsonb too

Today I migrated DNSentinel from the Arduino IDE to PlatformIO, fixed ESP32-S3 board configuration issues, and verified my DNS sinkhole is correctly forwarding normal requests while blocking selected domains by returning 0.0.0.0. I also started refactoring the project into modules (dns_server, dns_parser, blocklist, and wifi_manager) and added a compile-time debug logging system to make the codebase easier to maintain.
Today I worked on DNSentinel, my ESP32-S3 based DNS sinkhole. I added a response cache so DNS requests can be answered locally instead of always forwarding upstream. I also implemented cache expiration using DNS TTL values, meaning the cache now follows the rules used by real DNS resolvers. Along the way I debugged DNS packet behavior, learned more about DNS records, and improved the modular structure of the project.
DNSentinel is coming together! Im starting to really pull together the DNS logic, I think the coolest part so far was doing the IPV6 blocking logic. Next up: building a dashboard so DNSentinel can display statistics, recent queries, and system status without needing a serial monitor. Still a lot to improve, but it’s been really fun watching a small ESP32 turn into a real network appliance.
“The -board” get it? no? okay. DNSentinel now has a real web dashboard! The first version of the dashboard was generated directly inside my C++ code. it worked, but as the dashboard started growing it became obvious that it wasn’t the best design choice. Drew out design of powerbank in visual studio code, sadly it won’t have findmy features because I did more research and it’s not going to work out
Started working on my circuit diagram, was pretty had at first to figure it out but after about 30 minutes I started to lock in. Just have to add the wireless charger module into the diagram. Devlogs:
First devlog of this project, and it is quite an important one. Added the 3.3V power regulator and powermux to switch between battery power and USB power as that is quite important.
Wired the MCU - nRF52840 - to the regulator and added all of the capacitors that it needs. Moreover started looking into the LoRa module documentation, I am not looking forward with all the shenanigans I need to do…
Project Update! Following the reference designs and the schematics I have been in the processing of choosing the most optimal passive values for the EU868 band.
Woah, another update? Took a small break but I am back from vacation, more ready than I’ll ever be to do this project. With this timelapse session I am starting to introduce the RF impedance matching network according to the documentation to minimize EMI noise
Project Update! Started to assign footprints to the numerous components that are used in the PCB. The process kinda takes a while but seeing everything assigned is rather rewarding. Searching LCSC for part numbers and schematics and the whole import process is a pain however...
