So the idea came to me: what if I wrote a program that would actually help me manage VMs? And that’s how the concept of ServerDeck was born. A program that allows me to manage users in MariaDB databases, or even create such databases (I admit I hate the default way of creating users in databases via the terminal), so I decided, okay, I’ll add it to the system. And of course, the idea then comes: what next? I put the project on hold for a few days, then I had to install packages on my VM, such as Tailscale, Cloudflare Tunnel, Node.js, and Java. I’ll be honest, I immediately decided I wasn’t going to search for these installation links, so why not simplify it? And that’s how I added the package installation option. However, one day, while I was away from home, I noticed a problem with one of my VMs. One of my websites was lagging terribly. So what can I do? Unfortunately, I log into Termius using my phone, then I enter the btop command, and there I see that I forgot to connect an additional drive to the server! And as you can imagine, I would have avoided this sooner if checking the machine’s status were easier. And thanks to this problem, I added features related to the Discord bot and webhooks! When I reinstalled btop on one of the VMs, I thought, “Okay, but why am I installing this when I can have my own version, right?” And that’s how I added the rest of the program’s features. Devlog 1 New Planned work on the project Created the MySQL database Connected to the MySQL database Created a temporary flashcard design Added flashcard flip animation Created the schema.sql file Idea I am planning to create a flashcard web app with support for mobile devices and desktop. I will use the MySQL/MariaDB database for the application. For the backend, I will use the PHP language .
Devlog 2 New New users table in the database Login and registration system with password hashing Login and registration website panels Login session system Logout system Mobile device support for login and registration panels Login and registration error handling Login/Registration System I built my first login and registration system, based on PHP and a MySQL/MariaDB database. I used the password_hash function for user security. I also added $_SESSION support across the website, so the app remembers which user is logged in between pages. The registration system requires a minimum of 8 characters for the password. Planned I’m planning to style the header tag and build the flashcards panel. I also plan to add the ability to export flashcards.
Devlog 3 New Added a flashcard folder system (users can create folders to organize flashcards by subject) Started working on the “Your Folders” GUI Added a new user_id column to the subjects table, linked with a foreign key to users Planned I’m planning to finish the folder system.
Devlog 4 New Finished the “Your Folders” GUI Created the “Delete Folder” panel New styling for the create and delete buttons Challenges Spent a while debugging why my delete panel wouldn’t stay hidden Planned I’m starting work on the flashcard creation panel with a live preview of the flashcard.
Devlog 5 New Added a “How to use” section Cleaned up the CSS (reorganized and simplified the code) Created the createflashcard.php file, with a query pulling the selected folder’s name Challenges Rebuilt the whole page layout using nested flexbox containers instead of the manual negative margins. Planned I’m planning to build the flashcard creation form for the selected folder.
Devlog 6 New Created a Docker image for the app (PHP + MariaDB in one container) Added a GitHub Actions workflow that builds the Docker image with buildx Added the ability to create and delete flashcards within a folder Added a live preview for the flashcard question and answer while typing Added a “Your flashcards” list showing existing flashcards in the folder Planned I’m planning to update the styling of the main page (index.php).
Devlog 7 New Added a “Your flashcards folder” panel on the main page Fully functional flashcard study system (question/answer card with flip animation, folder selection, Next/Previous navigation) Pages now require login to access Planned I’m planning to ship my project.

WFC-ards is finished! Hi everyone, I’ve finished my PHP web application with flashcards for learning. Create folders, add your own flashcards, and study them with an interactive interface. How to use Test it: flashcards.nahida4479.org Or run it locally with the pre-built Docker image: docker pull ghcr.io/nahida4479/wfc-ards:latest docker run -d -p 8000:8000 ghcr.io/nahida4479/wfc-ards:latest How it works Create an account (your password is hashed!) Click “Add flashcards” in the top right corner Create a folder, then click on the folder name Add your flashcards (you can delete a flashcard by clicking the trash icon in the “Your flashcards” section) After saving a flashcard, click I finish to finish adding cards Click the flashcard panel to flip it, and click “Next” to move to the next one (once you’ve created more than one flashcard) You can create unlimited folders, and switch between them using the “Your flashcards folder” panel on the left. Summary I spent a lot of time on this project since it was my first time working with PHP. My biggest struggle was CSS styling. Good luck with your own projects :)...

For each and every feature added, the number of variables skyrockets, making it very hard to debug and work in any circumstance. For example, I was stuck for so long trying to solve an error that was caused by an unintentional slip of my keyboard, removing the f before an f-string. The issue wasn’t solving the error, it was finding where it was. I was considering such big things, when the reality was much smaller. I also accidentally slipped in a backslash in the version number, which was very fast to fix in the code after I realized it, but I had already pushed and tagged it. That was another one of my very big keyboard slip-ups. Encountering this taught me how to handle catastrophic errors once they’ve already been pushed. And, outside of the coding aspect, I think I really grew in my documentation skills. This was my first ever project with an image, database schemas, or tables for installation in the README. And, I created an X/Twitter account to try and bring more traction to my code for the purposes of this project, my first time using social media to publicize my code. I still have more things in plan for this project."}]...

In the 1 hour and 56 minutes of making this project, I converted a blank slate of mind and code into a basic portfolio website that actually looks pretty good, and got a nice Cloudflare Pages domain (tyler-n.pages.dev). At the start, I was thinking “Portfolios have to be perfect! I can’t make it! What if the geometry is off! Today has been a great day for my personal portfolio so far. I got a nice domain for my portfolio, tyler.is-a.dev. I made the pull request last night, but I made it work today, after it was accepted. I also made a basic About section in my portfolio, focusing on my timeline of coding and some other hobbies I do. I plan to expand on my About section and possibly start the Projects section today. I may also write an X post about my portfolio in the next couple of days.
I recently just stepped up the game of my About page! Now, it looks a lot more professional, has my logo in it, and has a nice button at the bottom to get in contact with me!

I kept accidentally pasting the project cards outside of their div, which caused some styling issues that took me a while to figure out. Take a look and tell me which project you like best!

I made a basic layout with a div calculator , a h1 and an input with readonly as display. Then I made 20 buttons inside a div buttons . I used onclick=\"appendValue()\" for all number buttons so I don’t have to write many functions. I also added AC, backspace ⌫, % and Copy button at the end. Day 2 - CSS For styling I used flex to center the calculator in body, background #111827 . Calculator box is #1f2937 with 340px width and border-radius 20px. The main part is .buttons { display: grid; grid-template-columns: repeat(4, 1fr); } - this made 4 columns. I gave height 60px to all buttons. For colors I used nth-child - first 2 buttons red #ef4444 for AC and backspace, every 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th yellow #fbbf24 for operators, 20th green #34d399 for Copy, and rest gray #6b7280 . The hover is just opacity 0.85. I know nth-child is messy but it worked. Day 3 - JavaScript Logic This was the main part. const display = document.getElementById(\"display\") - I got the input. appendValue(value) - just does display.value += value . Very simple. clearDisplay() - makes it empty string. backspace() - I used slice(0, -1) to remove last character. I learned this from MDN. percentage() - I did Number(display.value) / 100 . Wrapped in try catch so if error shows “Error”. calculate() - This was tricky. My buttons show ÷ and × but JS eval() needs / and _. So I did expression.replace(/÷/g, \"/\").replace(/×/g, \"_\") before eval. I know eval is not safe but for small calculator project it’s okay. Also added try catch. copyResult() - Used navigator.clipboard.writeText(display.value) and then alert “Copied!”. This only works on https but GitHub pages is https so it’s fine. Problems I faced: When I clicked ÷ it showed ÷ in display and eval was failing. Fixed with replace. Copy button was giving error in VS Code live server because clipboard needs secure context. My CSS nth-child selector was becoming long, especially the last one :not(:nth-child(1))... but I kept it. What I learned: How grid works, how to handle display as string and evaluate it, how slice works for backspace, and how clipboard API works. Time: Around 6-7 hours total in 3 days. [{"post_id": 58993, "ts": "202 [{"post_id": 58993, "ts": "2026-08-31T15:55:22Z", "hours": 4.8369, "text": "Devlog - Simple Calculator by @princekumar What I built: A simple web calculator. It can do +, -, x, ÷, percentage and has AC, backspace and a copy button. I made it with just HTML, CSS and JS. Link: http://princekumar189344-netizen.github.io/Simple-Calculator/ Why I built it: I wanted to make something useful that I use daily. Also I was tired of making only games, so I thought a calculator would be a good small project to understand DOM manipulation properly. I started with just basic buttons and then added extra features. How I built it: The HTML is just a div with an input as display and buttons in a grid. In CSS I used display: grid with 4 columns for the buttons. I gave different colors - red for AC/backspace, yellow for operators, green for copy. In JS, the logic is very simple: appendValue() adds numbers/symbols to the display value. clearDisplay() clears everything. backspace() uses slice(0, -1) to remove last char. For calculate(), I had a problem because my buttons show ÷ and × but JS needs / and *. So I used .replace(/÷/g, “/”) before using eval(). I know eval is not best practice but for this small project it was easiest. percentage() just divides by 100. copyResult() uses navigator.clipboard.writeText and shows an alert. Challenges: The display was showing 79266-9 type values when I clicked operators fast, I fixed it by making sure values just append. Title: Simple Calculator by @princekumar | Stardan Title: Simple Calculator by @princekumar | Stardance
Devlogs:
Devlog - Simple Calculator by @princekumar What I built: A simple web calculator. Copy button was not working on http, it needs https, but GitHub pages is https so it works now. I first used a lot of nth-child in CSS which became confusing, next time I will give classes to buttons. What I learned: How grid works, how to handle button clicks without making 20 functions, and how clipboard API works. Also learned that readonly input is better than div for display.
Ships:
Project: Simple Calculator Day 1 - Idea and HTML I wanted to make something simple that actually works. I made a basic layout with a div calculator , a h1 and an input with readonly as display. Then I made 20 buttons inside a div buttons . I used onclick="appendValue()" for all number buttons so I don’t have to write many functions. Day 3 - JavaScript Logic This was the main part. const display = document.getElementById("display") - I got the input. appendValue(value) - just does display.value += value . So I did expression.replace(/÷/g, "/").replace(/×/g, "_") before eval. Live Link: http://princekumar189344-netizen.github.io/Simple-Calculator/ This is my own code, I didn’t use any AI template for UI, I picked colors myself....

At this point I decided that I’m not making a satellite tracker app, so I transitioned to the solar system simulation app. I specifically wanted realistic distances between planets, moons, etc. to show the massive difference there is, and I added the ability to view all planets from close up and also the whole solar system. At this point the UI still looked terrible, I’m a really bad UI designer, so I decided to use my free three prompts to claude opus 4.8 for exactly this. I didn’t have an idea of what I want to make at the start, so I naturally asked AI. One of the first ideas it gave me was this satellite tracker web app thing, so I decided to start doing that. After some time though I decided to make firstly a super realistic scene with earth, so I worked on that. It’s not done yet, not even close, but I’m slowly getting there! (PS: There’s also a moon in the screenshot!)
I made a simulation of our solar system. It isn’t extremely precise, because when I tested some solar eclipses, it didn’t align completely (well it didn’t align at all…), but I want to improve this in the future. I did use a lot of AI to help me with the position and rotation calculation system, because that was a lot of complex math and it would take me ages to get something working 🙏 . After that I reworked the earth scene to display this more realistic model of earth and hide the orbit paths when I focus it. I also added some movement to the clouds, it looks much better when they move at least somehow.
Firstly I fixed some major errors in the solar system simulation, like the planets spinning in the wrong direction, the earth not aligning it’s rotation with the sun correctly, etc. Other than that I improved the UI a little bit, it now also shows the current time in the simulation and I also added a toggle for the orbit paths when the earth is focused. Then I added these lines that show the tilt of planets. I also improved the sun’s shader so it looks better and changed the earth’s atmosphere shader so it doesn’t display those jumps as it did before. (PS: Did you know Uranus has for some reason a massive 98 degree tilt like this?)
I polished the UI with the help of some AI, it looks way better now in my opinion. I also optimized the app a lot by for example downscaling the textures and optimizing some parts of the code, and it loads now a lot faster than before. Then I added a texture to the moon and seasonal textures to earth that change based on what month it is.
I deployed the project to github pages, added an icon, and added this image to the README
Ships:
I made a web application that simulates our solar system. At first, I wanted to make a satellite tracker app with a realistic earth model, but after a while I decided I wanted to have also other planets in the background, so I started working on that. I also wanted the moon, so I added moons to all planets, and soon enough a whole solar system simulation was born. Later I decided it would be cool to simulate solar and lunar eclipses, but when I tried it, the moon and earth didn’t align at all, so of course I had to fix it. And I also did. After that I cleaned up the code and the project was finished!...

refactored the code base because i am going to build it from scratch now.
trying to code the handshake part but i am facing a lot of issues in this webrtc connections ,mainly in the handshake process…
i have Build some of the UI for the chart interface and wrote some docs… will work farther on the WebRtc connection next.
made some UI , and did some UI fixes…
i have switched from basic html css to React. and i have made the first page/welcome page of it. Next, I will make the connection establishment page, and then the chart interface..
new updates are worked on responsiveness Worked on degine and styleings Worked on annimations. and next steps are establishing the webRtc conection building the chat interface.
deigned some amount of the chat interface. like adding the input field , making it responsive making the button responsive. next steps are, making the layout for the messages, like how they user will see messages… receiving the messages and sending it…
worked on the message layouts, worked on the incoming and outgoing message layouts did some styling modifications on the connect page spend time learning about back-end connections…
It took me quite some time to stitch the underlying connections. these includes, token compressition showing token on linkbox writing the logic of the information flow. writing the logic of showing a message on the message box. some Ui fixes etc etc… i think this is the hardest part… and still its not done, i still have to write the logic of how to take input of peer token, and then have to cheak if things are working properly, i think it would have lots of bugs, i have to fix them…
at last!! at last i have fixed the bugs 😭😭😭😭. i cant explain the satisfaction level. now messages are sent successfully. But it is still not ready to ship now. i need to harden the logic and count all the edge cases too… but i cant explain the joy i am feeling. it might took 50% of the total time spent on this project. i thought that Ui would be the hardest part. but no, establishing the connections and managing states and variables and logic flow was the hardest, i mean most draining. while doing this i had lost my motivation many times, i thought i cant do, i am failing… but i stick to it. and it worked😭 ohh man!!!!
I have ran the 2ed successful test. and now its live at, “ https://tiyasbanerjee.github.io/One-To-One/ ” i have added some features like sending messages on enter press, scrool at the end as soon as new message comes or send. set up the github stuffs for deploying. and fixed some bugs like some scroll bars were showing where they should not.. its still not ready to ship now, i want it to look better and be more robust towards edge cases.
i have added the loading animations, and now i am filling out the docs a little. i have also published it onto my own domain, chat.tiyas.uk next i am going to ship it.

i have made a simple webRtc bassed chat app. the special thing of this webside is that, as soon as both friends will close the chat the messages are gone for forever, no scope of being stored anywhere. and even no servers in between, i would call it power-user stuff, because it is so bare-metal that you have to exchange the WebRTC tokens yourself. if you are testing this, try this in two different tabs insted of running on two devices. it will work perfectly fine. i am proud of, its my first react app, and i have made it quite good enough i have fixed some of them myself i have spent a lot of time in it and build sucessful running app i have completed it within 20 days… The improvements in quality of life are, got one private and secure and serverless chatting platform one more step towards off-grid life improvement in privacy. data will be stored nowhere to be honest, my true motivation was, to give young couples a platform to talk privately and with zero risk of someone seeing their old messages… and i think, from a psychological point of view, most of the fight happens in young couples when they see some hurtful message again and again, but this has no way to see that, when you talk , only then you are able to see the chat , as soon as that ends, your brain also stops processing those , because you know they are completely gone.. these messages are stored in your device’s ram, and as soon as the program stops running, the data are gone....

I added some css and pictures.
I think I’m finished with my welcome page.
I changed the name and theme to Tiana’s PalaceOS and I am trying to get somewhere with this, although its very difficult.
I added a title, a bar that tells you the current time, and draggable windows.
I made the windows closable, and started making an app. I also changed the fonts.
I have fixed some problems here and there, and made the layout look cleaner.
I added changeable backgrounds, finished a recipe app and a settings app, fixed problems, updated the album, and overall made the webOS better!

Completed the whole project just 55 Min early than Limits IDK how it’d be treated, add two more cars De Tomaso and Spania GTA, this project was done on VS so help done by editor was fast, you can see info about cars compare them and see allocation (for fun) and there is a easter
Finished and Polished Everything i can physically and possibly do
Ships:
I made a website that contains info of some cars and can do comparison between them and show pricing, it was not hard but was long (VS editor made it ultra easy with that auto guess thing)...

The thing I am most proud of is that I somehow got it to work. One thing necessary to try the project is an API key if you run it on the web. I have added the CORS_PROXY with CloudFlare workers from my side but you will need a free API to get it to work (don’t worry its a client side project so nothing is stored). Devlogs:
I am trying to build a developer tool that makes it possible to chat with any github repo. The plan is to have the repo be able to answer questions about itself so that its easier to debug and find flaws and also to help understand concepts better. For Now I have completed the landing page and theme toggle and now am gonna start working on the rest.
I have finally completed some of the core logic of the project. Namely: Chat (the chat logic for communication with the repo) llm (the llm integrations to enable chatting with the BYOK or local model) retrieve (the thing that retrieves the data from the Github repo and gives context to the app)
So I worked on many things these 5 hours and made a lot of progress. Also in one of my ships I was told to make the devlog a bit technical as here it is. The projects main pipeline lives in the src/core/ folder. It contains a ‘types.ts’ file which is the shared vocabulary basically it has RepoRef, FileEntry, Chunk, Citation, ChatMessage etc. The src/core also contains a folder called***’state/store.ts*** its a dead-simple global store using**’useSyncExternalStore** from react is just a plain object with a setState function and a listener set. I have attached the pics of the code below so feel free to check them out.
I competed the project for the most part. The one thing though is that deploying is so damn difficult like you do one thing and another thing breaks and you do another thing another breaks. Anyway for the project I am using Cloudflare workers for CORS_PROXY since its free tier is quite generous and enough for me right now.

Added clock, this was a difficult time to get around (bad joke) because I updated everything on screen and it deleted what I was writing in the searchbar, I fixed it by only updating the time in a separate function. By the way, the D Pad will have utilities soon
Playing sounds was driving me out of tune (another beautiful joke) and I had only to import sounds. I also added function to the D-Pad making that when you click it, it shows the photo information. I added a font as well
Added a sound button to play the background music whenever the user wants to listen to it!
