The mobile app layout was super annoying to get right. i spent hours trying to fix this weird bug where my floating AI coach button kept getting hidden behind the react navigation stack whenever i switched screens. getting the transparent bottom sheet modal to pop up smoothly with the keyboard without blocking the text input was also a huge pain. Definitely the AI integration! i managed to completely rip out my old gemini setup and switch the whole backend to use azure openai so the tutor is much smarter now. i’m also really proud of how the bottom sheet UI for the AI chat turned out—it looks super clean and feels like a premium native app. if you want to test the AI coach on the mobile app, just tap the floating sparkles icon at the bottom! if you try to run the backend locally, make sure you add the azure openai keys to your env file, otherwise just use the live vercel link provided to test it.", "repo": "https://github.com/priyanshusingh1234/Manthan-beta", "demo": "https://manthan-beta-c975.vercel.app/"}]...

Changing the game of indian edtech
Working on secure api to make it secure .
made a web for my idea too.
Google updated their gemini api format ERROR: This model models/gemini-2.5-flash is no longer available to new users. Please update your code to use models/gemini-3.6-flash
Finally i am going to ship my first project. I hope people will like it.
finally submitting my app.
Ships:
I built dheeyudhha, a gamified learning platform with a next.js web dashboard and a react native mobile app. the main feature i shipped today is a live AI coach that helps you step-by-step when you get stuck on a question, and it can even grade handwritten answers! Definitely the AI integration! i managed to completely rip out my old gemini setup and switch the whole backend to use azure openai so the tutor is much smarter now. i’m also really proud of how the bottom sheet UI for the AI chat turned out—it looks super clean and feels like a premium native app. if you want to test the AI coach on the mobile app, just tap the floating sparkles icon at the bottom! if you try to run the backend locally, make sure you add the azure openai keys to your env file, otherwise just use the live vercel link provided to test it....

It is capable of delivering a maximum of 2x5W output compatible with 4 ohm and 8 ohm speakers. I was frustrated when switching speaker input between my pc and my piano keyboard because I had to move my pc off my desk just to unplug the audio cable from the chassis and plug it back in after my piano practice multiple times a day. That time, I was using my PAM8403 module with the audio cable directly soldered onboard. So, the audio cable cannot be unplugged on the module end. A while after that, I decided to make another amplifier board upgraded with removable audio jack connector onboard to make my life easier. However, just as I thought it would finally be over, the module came faulty.. Total waste of time. This is my first app, Multi-App-Blocker!!! So there would be two sections abut this project- What is this and How did I make this app. So let’s start with the first section:- What is this? So, this an application that only runs on macOS which blocks apps according to the time schedule set by the user. The app shows all the downloaded applications on the sysem in the dropdown list from where the user can select the app. When the user selects the app they want to block, the user need to enter the start time and the end time. After that the user gets the option of select the type of schedule. So there are four options to select the type of schedule, that are- Every Day; Today Only; Specific Days; Specific Date. So, here the user can select the type according to their needs. Another exciting feature of my app is that the user can set multiple schedules for a single app. However the condition is that the other schedules should not overlap or should be the same as the previous schedules. After this when the schedule has been checked by the app, the app starts to monitor the schedule. When the current time matches the schedule time, the app is blocked. Also, if you restart your system after setting the schedule, your app would be blocked then also within 3-5 minutes if you want the app to be instantly blocked after restarting the system otherwise normally, the app is immediately blocked depending on the speed of your system. Also, at last, another feature of this app is that you can delete, edit and disable or enable your scheudules. Like this, you can set as many schedules for as many apps you want. So, this was about how my App Blocker works. Now let’s move to the next section which is:- How did I make this app? So, I started making this project by building the time tracker of my app. When I completed making he time tracker, I learn about the processes of apps, PIDs(Process Identifier) and the terminal commands like mdfind and many libraries such as datetime, psutil, subprocess, pathlib, json etc. So, by combining all these I made a simple terminal working program that would block a single app for a particular period of time. After this, I thought of making a GUI using HTML and CSS and making the GUI functional using JavaScript. So, I wrote the code of HTML and CSS by myself and also learnt a bit of JavaScript to make the GUI functional. By now my GUI was ready and the backend for a single app blocker was also ready but were not connected. And then I got to know about Electron. So I explored about electron ad decided to use it for my app. Then I connected my GUI using Electron to my Python backend using some more JavaScript code. Now, it started to feel more like an app, But I wanted multi app blocker so I wrote the code for it also and added the features of multiple schedules, edit, delete, disable and enable, and schedule types. After all this, it was like, I built an app, but this so called app was not working after I restarted my mac. And just because of this, I needed to work 5 more days to figure out the solution. And when I got the solution. I did the final test. However, after restarting it takes around 3-5 minutes to block the app but it does block the app. Now, I can declare it a professional, working, Multi-App-Blocker. Note: This application is only for macOS. And you can download the .dmg file from the try project link below. Thank You so much for reading it till here.", "repo": "https://github.com/mundradhanush-lgtm/APP-BLOCKER", "demo": "https://github.com/mundradhanush-lgtm/APP-BLOCKER/releases/download/v1.0.0/App.Blocker-1.0.0-arm64.dmg"}]...

In this final session of app blocker I worked on the feature of blocking apps even after restarting the system if the current time is in the schedule. I literally worked on this feature for 3 days and it paid off. However this is not a strong feature because it takes around 3-5 minutes to block the application instantly after restarting the system. Normally, it immediately blocks the app. So, I worked on this feature in this final session and now I am going to set my APP BLOCKER out for rating soon. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!"}, {"post_id": 78765, "ts": "2026-10-11T15:18:12Z", "hours": 9.7883, "text": "of so I have finally built a multi-app blocker. In this session I just made the GUI better, made a better backend and made it into a usable app. I added multiple schedule feature for a single app and then the feature of schedule types like today, specific date, specific days and every day from which the user can choose any and for multiple schedule I put a check that the second or the third or any later schedule should not overlap the earlier schedules. The App Blocker is working very nicely, but I want to fit the last piece of the puzzle and the is by making the App Blocker immune to computer restart or turning it on again after shutting down. So, I want to work on that that the app should be blocked even if the computer has been restarted or it has been turned on after shutting down. But, I can say that it is now a professional App Blocker and I would soon finish this project."}, {"post_id": 76373, "ts": "2026-10-03T10:29:23Z", "hours": 3.7033, "text": "ok so finally, I have created a professional single-app blocker. In the earlier section, I wrote my code for JavaScript and I was thinking that I have created the app, but I was wrong. After writing the code, in this section, I downloaded electron and connected it to my code using two json files and 2 JavaScript files. After that I worked on error handling which was a very complicated part. Also I took the help of AI to identify what kind of errors can happen and what kind of handling I should put. Also, I created a section in my GUI where I would be giving the status of the app blocker like is the app blocked or is it not blocked or is there any problem. I have done this much and it is working ratty decently. Now I have decided to make it a Multi-App Blocker where the user can set different schedules for different apps and set when to block the apps like after setting the time on which days the user want to block the apps or else the user wants to block the app in two different sections. For eg- The user wants to block the app from 2:00 pm to 3 pm and then from 6 pm to 8 pm. So, I would be trying to keep that functionality also. And if possible, the coolest thing I would want to do is that allowing the user to keep a password on it so that no one can block unwanted apps for 24 hours. Hopefully, I can do all of this because I have this idea in my mid only and I have no planning so I would be working very hard till 31st October."}, {"post_id": 75541, "ts": "2026-09-30T12:08:19Z", "hours": 3.2575, "text": "Let’s goooo everyone!! I have finally written my JavaScript code for my App Blocker. I am very happy as this was my first JavaScript code for this big project and I am very proud of myself as I wrote the whole code myself just taking the help of AI to know what step to take next. In this code I solved the time related problems like the checking of valid time, turning the time entered by the user into a 24 hour clock system and then turning it into a properly usable form. I also created a hardcoded list for now which included some app names, which would be replaced by my python list that would have all the app names downloaded in my system. And finally, I created an object containing app name, start time and end time. This object would be provided to my python code and it would block the app for that period of time."}, {"post_id": 75173, "ts": "2026-09-29T11:33:57Z", "hours": 1.0422, "text": "Ok Everyone!! Devlogs:
ok so this is my first devlog of APP BLOCKER. this is a project where the app would be blocked between a specific period of time. and till now I have made the time system like for the testing purpose it would show blocked if the program is ran between the designated time period and would show allowed if not ran between the designated time. I also learnt about process and learnt how to print all the running processes using psutil (process and system utilities). now my target would be merging them after modifying both the codes
ok so this is my second devlog for this project. today I made the part where I would get the names of all the running processes on my Mac and then I made a list for the apps that I need to block then I compared the all the running processes with the apps I need to block and then just printed that this app needs to be closed just for the testing purpose. now my next work would be to terminate the app and then to modify it I would take the input of the app and time from the user itself and then in the end I would create a good GUI to give it a look of a fully polished project.
let’s go, today I added the loop for my program which was very important because earlier my program was just closing the app if it was running, but the user can again open it. now they couldn’t because I put all of that terminating part inside a loop that would work continuously for that time period.
ok so earlier my I made the time tracker and the hardcoded list for particular apps and then merged both of them so that it would just close the hardcoded apps in that list but now I modified it and took input from the user, ran the terminal command mdfind to check if the app is running or not then used osascript to get the pid of the process and then used that pid to terminate the app. but there was a challenge to find the difference of closed apps and already running apps and after that to keep them blocked till the designated time. so today I worked on that and made a good app blocker which can be used but some modifications like the input of time from the user, input of multiple apps and creating the gui. so after working on that my program would be ready.
ok so earlier I was using hardcoded list of apps to block them, then I started taking the app name as an input, but then I realised that I would then want the user to type the app name in a specific type that is needed by the osascript to provide me its pid. but then I got an idea to give a dropdown of apps downloaded in the user’s system and they just simply had to select that app. so, I used multiple lists and dictionaries and splitted the path of the app into the app name that can be displayed. for now I have made a dictionary with the names of apps and serial numbers corresponding to them so the user just have to select the number. but in future when I would make the gui, the user would then just have to click on it. but currently I am facing a problem that after am printing the names of apps and the user is selecting the number, some apps are being blocked and and some are not. so I am currently working on this problem. if somebody can help me, please comment below. it would be of great pleasure. Ok so earlier I was having a problem even after printing the dictionary and taking the number corresponding to it. the problem there was that my app blocker only blocked the apps that had no duplicates, which means like when i tried to block IDLE, I had 4 different versions of IDLE and after just telling my project that I need to block the IDLE it was not able to interpret which IDLE it had to block. I am also very happy that Stardance has been extended till 31st October. I have given the final touches to my backend like the input of time by the user and in the future after making the GUI I would make the App Blocker block multiple apps. So, my next devlon would be of me updating you upon my GUI.
Ok Everyone!! I have made the structure for my GUI and designed it properly. Now, the only thing left is JavaScript and the coming up of these languages together in Electron. But there is still one problem. Right now my App Blocker is blocking only one app at a time, butI want to make it multi-app blocker and also my app blocker is not working after it is closed, so I want it to work forever and keep checking the time.
Let’s goooo everyone!! This object would be provided to my python code and it would block the app for that period of time.
ok so finally, I have created a professional single-app blocker. Hopefully, I can do all of this because I have this idea in my mid only and I have no planning so I would be working very hard till 31st October.
of so I have finally built a multi-app blocker. But, I can say that it is now a professional App Blocker and I would soon finish this project.
Finally!!! I have created the MULTI-APP-BLOCKER!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Finally!!! Thank You so much for reading it till here....

Fluent 2048 DevLog 002 •Learned about the Winning and Losing criteria and implemented them (css was already done) •Added the winning and losing screens •Set the max number to 2048
Fluent 2048 DevLog 003 •Added colors for the different numbers (pastel type colors) •Added a dark mode for the colors •Added transitions for light to dark mode and vice versa
Fluent 2048 DevLog 004 Final DevLog before Shipping •Finished a Fluetro OS Edition •Added animations after a lot of research and work •Fixed size scaling for smaller displays
Fluent 2048 DevLog 005 To everyone who says my game idea(this and Minesweeper) is unoriginal and the design isn’t anything new too: •I know the design and game idea isn’t original, I have written that in the about section. It’s just some recognizable games that I’ve remade with some blur and stuff, with the design resembling Windows 11/macOS Sequoia for my WebOS project. •The design isn’t supposed to be like this, the design has actual blur and stuff but it won’t show unless we open it in my WebOS (image attached). •Also I can type at almost 70WPM, so of course it takes me less time to type things.
Fluent 2048 DevLog 006 •Got rejected from shipping because apparently I needed more features and the UI seemed AI Generated •So redid the css, but still kept the design from Fluetro, so no animations and no colors •Added Difficulty options •Added a wallpaper so you can see the actual UI instead of the weird opaque version.
Fluent 2048 DevLog 007 •Fixed the difficulty, so now the 3 difficulty settings actually work •Fixed the weird bug from my last DevLog where everything looked broken, it was a HTML issue. •The game always starts at Beginner level, always, and I’m not going to change that •Reminder that this isn’t supposed to be a standalone game, this will be added to Fluetro OS as a game inside it. •Since I had to rework almost 90% of the css, I also decided to add borders to everything.
Fluent 2048 DevLog 008 •Added animations for the Game Over/Winning screen •Uploaded to GitHub and requested for re-certification

The simple modern classic game of 2048 recreated using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with modernized UI design in line with Fluetro OS. I made this as a simple but easily recognizable game that I could implement in Fluetro OS. The most challenging part was getting the smooth animations and tile movement/merging logic working together smoothly, especially while making the game usable across different screen sizes. Before trying it, just know that it’s still the classic 2048, so use the arrow keys or WASD to combine tiles and reach 2048!...

Mentioning users to attract their attention quickly becomes annoying, and when it’s time to assemble the crew, the message quickly becomes very long and mainly consists of “@ user1, @ user2, etc.”. Discord solved this problem by adding roles that can be pinged, but that introduces new problems, that SmartPing is designed to solve: Discord enforces a strict limit of 250 roles per server, and a large community might have better uses for those than organizing 15 people to play minecraft once a week. SmartPing solves this by organizing and mentioning users via its own system, independent of roles You need a relatively high access level within a discord server to be able to create and manage, so the amount of people capable of that is limited, especially on a large server. Solution: since SmartPing is independent of the role system, call groups can be created and managed by regular users, with server admins always being able to intervene and take control if needed Should you create a role, it is either only mentionable by administrators or everyone. Former is only viable for announcements, and cannot be used by users to organize themselves. Latter introduces the ability for users to spam the role. This is once again solved by SmartPing by enforcing a once-per-five-minutes ping policy that can only be circumvented by server admins Development of this bot touched, among other things on asynchronous python code and event listeners/handlers, the latter of which is not implemented in hikari, so the handlers for the commands, autocomplete (did i mention the bot features autocomplete for group names?) and callback actions were written by me manually! I also had to touch up on my database knowledge, which, while is kind of annoying, was a lot of fun. Devlogs:
Hello, world! So far i have created infrastructure that allows me to easily add and manage commands for the bot
I have rewritten the bot to use Discord’s built in interactions, which enables it to send messages visible to the command issuer TODO: database 🥲
Slowly but steadily, i’m setting up the database
After a little shenanigans, i finally got autocomplete hints to pull data from the database
Database code now allows for creating and joining groups, honoring users with admin permissions I also created a dedicated error code system, instead of relying on try-catch to get all my info
Currently working on deleting and managing call groups
Most of the bot is now fully working! This includes: Creating, joining, leaving and deleting groups Calling groups Checking user eligibility to call said groups based on group policies TODO: Invites to private groups
Group invites are now being handled properly! This turned out not as hard as i thought it’d be, only requiring one top-level handler function, that could be arranged similarly to the other two i had for commands and autocomplete TODO: settatr for groups
The bot is slowly nearing completion! I’ve finished implementing rest of the commands, such as setting group parameters, added better arg parsing, etc.. All that’s left now is to polish the code, add final touches and deploy it
The bot is nearly complete! Transferring group ownership or deleting it now brings up a dialog
With some final touches, the bot is deployed to heroku and ready to ship!

Did final debugging. Changed the interests section to include sections instead of cards.

an hour of spaghetti code later and it works!! i started by pre adding all the my columns from the bills of materials from other projects i’ve made. then i made inputs for every single column type except item no. and unit cost because they can be automated with tracked variables. finally, a bit of code to write them into the .csv file and voila, it shows up perfectly in excel!
just a quick devlog cause i added validations for each of the queries so things arent left blank or whatever. just imagine loads of these sprinkled into the rest of the code.
and the backend is completely finished! i first replaced the amend option with just an exit program because i assume if amending needs to happen, the user can manually faster do it in a spreadsheet program. then pretty much the rest of the time was spent doing the markdown conversion and it sucked going through iteration by iteration but i managed in the end to get it to an acceptable state wherein the table is easy to paste into any github repo and works without any issue!

Im proud of trying and learning something new. I used the same lighting setup for both day and night. Now I use seperate Light values making the night natively darker while keeping block lighting the same as before. float skyLight = day ? lm.y : lm.y * 0.45;vec3 lighting = skyLight * (vec3(0.5, 0.62, 0.75) + vec3(1.0, 0.92, 0.78) * sun * shadowCol)+ vec3(1.0, 0.6, 0.3) * lm.x * lm.x + 0.03; Also, before the entites were glowing very hard. I tested alot and wrote alot and deleted most things. Gemin had the Fog Idea :) First Change: I changed the gbuffers_skybasic.fsh color grading for the sky. It makes the sky way more light blue isntead of the dark blue I had before (image included) baseSky.r *= 0.1; baseSky.g *= 0.65; baseSky.b *= 1.8; Second Change: I added Exposure to the final.fsh. One Problem was that it got so bright, that lighter texutres like sand looked basically white. So i went in the composite.fsh and multiplied the lighting by 0.85 so it will get darker and compensates the Exposure (image included before and after): final.fsh: float exposure = 1.3;color.rgb *= exposure; composite.fsh: vec3 finalColor = albedo.rgb * lighting * 0.85; Third Change: I added a fog near the render distance. It was Geminis Idea to add fog. It was only 2 lines to add: float fog = smoothstep(far * 0.7, far, length(viewPos.xyz));finalColor = mix(finalColor, fogColor, fog);"}, {"post_id": 72832, "ts": "2026-09-23T20:41:26Z", "hours": 6.1117, "text": "This is a devlog with much time because first i forgot to devlog and second because i had one huge problem and i was working on it for like two and a half hour (also much with ai on that problem, ill admit that i was furious after 1,5 hours) So yeah. Whats new: Shadow Rewrite, Color Grading, Lighting, Wave update. Starting Small: I made Waves faster to make them more visible. Before: float wave = sin(p.x * 1.20 + frameTimeCounter * 2.50) * 0.01; Now: float wave = sin(p.x * 1.20 + frameTimeCounter * 2.50) * 0.05; Like seen in the last Devlogs, the shadow never really looked nice. Before i used like manual 5 samplig grid to soften the shadows which is okay for performance but it looks weird. In the new version i completely threw that out. Instead I decided to move over to PCF Percentage Closer FIltering (was claudes idea). It makes the shadow look soft and way smoother. vec3 pcf(vec4 clip) { ivec2 s = ivec2(texcoord * vec2(viewWidth, viewHeight)) % 64; float a = texelFetch(noisetex, s, 0).r * 6.2831853; mat2 r = mat2(cos(a), -sin(a), sin(a), cos(a)); vec3 sum = vec3(0.0); float n = 0.0; for (int x = -PCF_RANGE; x <= PCF_RANGE; x++) { for (int y = -PCF_RANGE; y <= PCF_RANGE; y++) { vec4 p = clip + vec4(r * (vec2(x, y) * (PCF_RADIUS / 8092.0)), -0.002, 0.0); p.xyz = warpShadowClipPos(p.xyz); p.xyz = p.xyz / p.w * 0.5 + 0.5; if (all(greaterThanEqual(p.xy, vec2(0.0))) && all(lessThanEqual(p.xy, vec2(1.0)))) { sum += sh(p.xyz); n += 1.0; } } } return n > 0.0 ? sum / n : vec3(1.0); } While rewriting the composite I had multiple transparent bugs (seen in the pictures below). Basically my palyer hand and mobs were see through. The mob bug was pretty easy fix. gbuffers_entities.vsh wasnt actually passing down normal vectors to the fragment shader. (This was also found by gemini not me) For the Hand fix, i ran into a problem becuase it was the fault of composite.fsh. I was doing some weird depth buffer checks that basically told the shader to ignore the hand and draw the world behind it. (And again this was found by gemini) In the composite shader, I had this depth check to filter out water and sky: if (d0 != d2) { color = albedo; return; } By using if (d0 == 1.0 || d0 < d1 || d0 != d2) the shader now correctly renders it. The Problem was becase how Miencraft renders the hand. The hand renders into depthtex2 but it usually doesnt render into depthtex0. Because the hand depth in d2 was different freom the sky block depthh in d0 it triggered and the composite shader skipped drawing the hand. ( I hope I understood it right). Then came the 2.5 hour problem 😩: Random blocky shadows appeated on water (seen in pictures). Because the problem didnt occured before and because I just reworked the composite i tried everything. I changed things back to old. asked AI nothing helped. In the end it was because gbuffers_water.vsh was calcuilating the shadow coordiantes without applying the shadow map distorion. It was trying to read warped shadow map using undistoreted coordinates. nce I added the #include “libs/distort.glsl” it worked… (again found by gemini, i troubleshooted ALOT with it). Lasty i addewd Color Grading tweaks in final.fsh. Just more vibrance and contras."}, {"post_id": 59077, "ts": "2026-08-31T18:05:00Z", "hours": 4.2739, "text": "I spent some time remaking the water. Before: wavePos = floor(wavePos * 16.0) / 16.0; float wave = sin(wavePos.x * 1.5 + frameTimeCounter * 2.0) * 0.08 + cos(wavePos.z * 1.5 + frameTimeCounter * 1.8) * 0.08; After: float wave = 0.0; wave += sin(wavePos.x * 1.2 + frameTimeCounter * 1.6) * 0.07; wave += sin(wavePos.z * 1.4 + frameTimeCounter * 1.9) * 0.05; wave += sin((wavePos.x + wavePos.z) * 1.0 + frameTimeCounter * 1.1) * 0.04; wave += cos((wavePos.x - wavePos.z) * 1.1 + frameTimeCounter * 1.3) * 0.045; Then I went to the gbuffer_terrain.fsh and gbuffer_terrain.vsh. It is there fore the foundation for shadow mapping by calculating the shadow coordinates in the vertex shader and getting the shadow map. When i finnished that i went to the composite.fsh to actually getting the shadows to run. But first i began working on the overall lighting to make it feel much brighter and cooler. vec3 sunLight = vec3(1.0, 0.92, 0.78) * shadow * lm.y;vec3 skyAmbient = vec3(0.3, 0.42, 0.55) * lm.y;vec3 blocklight = vec3(1.0, 0.6, 0.3) * lm.x * lm.x;vec3 lighting = sunLight + skyAmbient + blocklight + 0.03; Now the shadows. The shadowSample() function takes the reconstructed player position and normal ( reconstructed player = 3d world position from a pixel, normal = where a surface is facing to) and transforms it into the shadow map. I also added 6 shadow samples around the pixel (geminis advice) to make the shadows softer instead of sharp (Though i might change that because as you will se in the picture the shadow is ugly… It might be because of that). float shadow = step(sp.z, texture2D(shadowtex0, sp.xy).r) * 0.4+ step(sp.z, texture2D(shadowtex0, sp.xy + vec2( r, r)).r) * 0.15+ step(sp.z, texture2D(shadowtex0, sp.xy + vec2(-r, r)).r) * 0.15+ step(sp.z, texture2D(shadowtex0, sp.xy + vec2( r, -r)).r) * 0.15+ step(sp.z, texture2D(shadowtex0, sp.xy + vec2(-r, -r)).r) * 0.15; The shadow itself is actiavated in main() with: float shadow = shadowSample(playerPos, normal); After all that though, the shadow didnt work and i was looking for it like 30 minutes and also troubleshootign with AI and after changeing the code like 10 times it also didnt work so I reverted the changes and noticed that: uniform float shadowDistance; is wrong because it of course needs a number :/ -> uniform float shadowDistance = 128.0;"}, {"post_id": 57547, "ts": "2026-08-29T18:39:44Z", "hours": 1.1972, "text": "Im making a shader for Minecraft and after upgrading the template from 1.21.5 to 26.2 I implemented waves to water.. But first i began working on the overall lighting to make it feel much brighter and cooler. vec3 sunLight = vec3(1.0, 0.92, 0.78) * shadow * lm.y;vec3 skyAmbient = vec3(0.3, 0.42, 0.55) * lm.y;vec3 blocklight = vec3(1.0, 0.6, 0.3) * lm.x * lm.x;vec3 lighting = sunLight + skyAmbient + blocklight + 0.03; Now the shadows. The shadowSample() function takes the reconstructed player position and normal ( reconstructed player = 3d world position from a pixel, normal = where a surface is facing to) and transforms it into the shadow map. I also added 6 shadow samples around the pixel (geminis advice) to make the shadows softer instead of sharp (Though i might change that because as you will se in the picture the shadow is ugly… It might be because of that). float shadow = step(sp.z, texture2D(shadowtex0, sp.xy).r) * 0.4+ step(sp.z, texture2D(shadowtex0, sp.xy + vec2( r, r)).r) * 0.15+ step(sp.z, texture2D(shadowtex0, sp.xy + vec2(-r, r)).r) * 0.15+ step(sp.z, texture2D(shadowtex0, sp.xy + vec2( r, -r)).r) * 0.15+ step(sp.z, texture2D(shadowtex0, sp.xy + vec2(-r, -r)).r) * 0.15; The shadow itself is actiavated in main() with: float shadow = shadowSample(playerPos, normal); After all that though, the shadow didnt work and i was looking for it like 30 minutes and also troubleshootign with AI and after changeing the code like 10 times it also didnt work so I reverted the changes and noticed that: uniform float shadowDistance; is wrong because it of course needs a number :/ -> uniform float shadowDistance = 128.0;
This is a devlog with much time because first i forgot to devlog and second because i had one huge problem and i was working on it for like two and a half hour (also much with ai on that problem, ill admit that i was furious after 1,5 hours) So yeah. Whats new: Shadow Rewrite, Color Grading, Lighting, Wave update. Starting Small: I made Waves faster to make them more visible. Before: float wave = sin(p.x * 1.20 + frameTimeCounter * 2.50) * 0.01; Now: float wave = sin(p.x * 1.20 + frameTimeCounter * 2.50) * 0.05; Like seen in the last Devlogs, the shadow never really looked nice. Before i used like manual 5 samplig grid to soften the shadows which is okay for performance but it looks weird. In the new version i completely threw that out. Instead I decided to move over to PCF Percentage Closer FIltering (was claudes idea). It makes the shadow look soft and way smoother. vec3 pcf(vec4 clip) { ivec2 s = ivec2(texcoord * vec2(viewWidth, viewHeight)) % 64; float a = texelFetch(noisetex, s, 0).r * 6.2831853; mat2 r = mat2(cos(a), -sin(a), sin(a), cos(a)); vec3 sum = vec3(0.0); float n = 0.0; for (int x = -PCF_RANGE; x <= PCF_RANGE; x++) { for (int y = -PCF_RANGE; y <= PCF_RANGE; y++) { vec4 p = clip + vec4(r * (vec2(x, y) * (PCF_RADIUS / 8092.0)), -0.002, 0.0); p.xyz = warpShadowClipPos(p.xyz); p.xyz = p.xyz / p.w * 0.5 + 0.5; if (all(greaterThanEqual(p.xy, vec2(0.0))) && all(lessThanEqual(p.xy, vec2(1.0)))) { sum += sh(p.xyz); n += 1.0; } } } return n > 0.0 ? sum / n : vec3(1.0); } While rewriting the composite I had multiple transparent bugs (seen in the pictures below). Basically my palyer hand and mobs were see through. The mob bug was pretty easy fix. gbuffers_entities.vsh wasnt actually passing down normal vectors to the fragment shader. (This was also found by gemini not me) For the Hand fix, i ran into a problem becuase it was the fault of composite.fsh. I was doing some weird depth buffer checks that basically told the shader to ignore the hand and draw the world behind it. (And again this was found by gemini) In the composite shader, I had this depth check to filter out water and sky: if (d0 != d2) { color = albedo; return; } By using if (d0 == 1.0 || d0 < d1 || d0 != d2) the shader now correctly renders it. The Problem was becase how Miencraft renders the hand. The hand renders into depthtex2 but it usually doesnt render into depthtex0. Because the hand depth in d2 was different freom the sky block depthh in d0 it triggered and the composite shader skipped drawing the hand. ( I hope I understood it right). Then came the 2.5 hour problem 😩: Random blocky shadows appeated on water (seen in pictures). Because the problem didnt occured before and because I just reworked the composite i tried everything. I changed things back to old. asked AI nothing helped. In the end it was because gbuffers_water.vsh was calcuilating the shadow coordiantes without applying the shadow map distorion. It was trying to read warped shadow map using undistoreted coordinates. nce I added the #include “libs/distort.glsl” it worked… (again found by gemini, i troubleshooted ALOT with it). Lasty i addewd Color Grading tweaks in final.fsh. Just more vibrance and contras.
I made some small and easy updates. I tested alot and wrote alot and deleted most things. Gemin had the Fog Idea :) First Change: I changed the gbuffers_skybasic.fsh color grading for the sky. It makes the sky way more light blue isntead of the dark blue I had before (image included) baseSky.r *= 0.1; baseSky.g *= 0.65; baseSky.b *= 1.8; Second Change: I added Exposure to the final.fsh. One Problem was that it got so bright, that lighter texutres like sand looked basically white. So i went in the composite.fsh and multiplied the lighting by 0.85 so it will get darker and compensates the Exposure (image included before and after): final.fsh: float exposure = 1.3;color.rgb *= exposure; composite.fsh: vec3 finalColor = albedo.rgb * lighting * 0.85; Third Change: I added a fog near the render distance. It was Geminis Idea to add fog. It was only 2 lines to add: float fog = smoothstep(far * 0.7, far, length(viewPos.xyz));finalColor = mix(finalColor, fogColor, fog);
Last Devlog (as im finished) FINALLY 😁 Whats new: I tested alot with the vibrancy values and changed the sky color values to: baseSky.r *= 0.1;baseSky.g *= 0.45;baseSky.b *= 9.0; The 9.0 wont change anything at daytime, but makes the sky way more blue on night time. I used the same lighting setup for both day and night. Now I use seperate Light values making the night natively darker while keeping block lighting the same as before. float skyLight = day ? lm.y : lm.y * 0.45;vec3 lighting = skyLight * (vec3(0.5, 0.62, 0.75) + vec3(1.0, 0.92, 0.78) * sun * shadowCol)+ vec3(1.0, 0.6, 0.3) * lm.x * lm.x + 0.03; Also, before the entites were glowing very hard. This was because the lightmap was applied directly on the entities. I removed it: lmdata = vec4(lmcoord, 0.0, 1.0); (Picture of the glowing pig also here)

I made a tuff minecraft shader. Daydream is a lightweight Minecraft shader focused on making the vanilla world feel more atmospgeric without completely changing the look. WHY LIGHTWEIGHT: First of all the changes: I improved the lighting, colors, shadows and fog. And for that I used many vibrancy increases and exposure increases that look really good and stunning but dont take much code (basically just 1 line) and dont require much performance. Im proud of trying and learning something new. It started all with a video on my YouTube fy page talking about how to start a shader and when i saw another shader project here on stardance by a beginner i started too. I like that it is lightweight because of those visual vibrancy and exposure increases....
