Ok to learn C, I first have to learn programming and since I don’t want to jump into the deep end I wanted to start with java, I’m watching the 12 hour bro code guide and I will make a GitHub repo and store all my projects, in the end my plan is to make a GPS navigator to show off the skills I learned
Learned how math works!
I completed a ton of projects, I learn a ton of stuff I still don’t understand what the “static” function does but I learned about switches and made a ton of stuff including this bank program...

Hello all. I have decided to convert my AI badminton match reviewer into a simpler badminton score-keeping website because of complications with the setup and the complexity. The name has changed to UmpireBuddy. This website would help more local and underprivileged badminton players and umpires keep track of score. For now, I have completed the base design, layout, and system for this project, with two sides to click on to add points. You can also change settings, like the names of the players and the set points. The buttons have a liquid glass effect, with a background that has animated circles moving up. In addition, there is a win sound when someone wins the whole game.
I changed it to a badminton court heatmap to keep it simple. I made this for people who want to see their common spots where they hit and their opponents’ common spots. This allows people to reduce their chance of being predicted and study their opponent’s shots.

During the process, I encountered many problems, including setup complexity, which prompted me to change the original project (an AI badminton match reviewer) into a simpler badminton score-keeping website. Another challenge was trying to fix the favicon not showing for my GitHub page, while it showed for my localhost website (it was because my original favicon was too big). I’m proud that I managed to finalize this project despite facing many of those challenges. Some notes on testing it: You can deduct points for each player by pressing the little button on the bottom right of each player’s point buttons. The settings button is in the top right. The left/right text tells you which half of the court each player serves on when they are supposed to serve. The rest is pretty self-explanatory....

Made the HTML files generate with a parallel JSON file, which I’ll use for data importing/exporting Added custom colors. Color Thief generates a clean palette up to 10 colors, and the user can select two to be the primary and secondary colors. This influences the entire page’s theme, since every color is derived from those two colors. The program also saves your chosen two colors in local storage, so that each page has its own selected theme. (I might move this to a JSON file, since I plan to use that for saving the tracklist info, but i’m not sure yet). On the home page, I made a pop-up box for the user to validate/customize album information before the page is made. This way, they can make the page name whatever they want instead of the automatic one. I still have to link this to the backend to sync the page names with the page generation. I finally added custom comments for the songs, which I’ve stalled for super long now. I’m debating between saving them with local storage or a seperate JSON file, so I’ve held off on the saving for now. Right now they just save in an object in the JS file. I made a top bar where the pages will go. I want the UI to look like Google tabs, with a (+) button that has a dropdown with all the pages. I fixed the entire backend and solved a bunch of problems. Before, making two pages for the same album would overwrite the old one, but now I made it make a duplicate, titled” {Album Name} 2.html” instead. I have to link this with the popup to let the user name it whatever they want, since this is going to be the page name used everywhere. I also had issues with albums with special names. For example, I knew an album titled “</3”, and the “<” and “/” would cause issues with finding the file as well as HTML formatting when generating the page. So I seperated the file name from the album name by making a separate sanitized name, which is going to be the page name. I also remember doing a ton of smaller fixes but I forgot what I did. I cleaned up the CSS in a bunch of places and made sure elements didn’t break with different-sized windows. Next, I need to Link the popup on the Search page to the backend, so the user can customize page names before making them. Make the tabs system on the top, where the user can open/close whichever pages are relevant. Devlogs:
Basic Electron setup for the app, learning how it works. This is my first time using Electron for any project, so this will be fun.
The program can now search for albums, preview information, and load it in a new file for further use. The UI looks like a mess for now, so the next step is to fix the layout and interface. This is a great experience, learning to use the MusicBrainz API and learn how Electron works, and I’m glad to be working on this project.
UI for the homepage is coming together well, but I might update it at the end of the project. For now, there’s a theme and it looks good, so that’s good enough. I also added a Search by Release ID feature, since the MusicBrainz API search isn’t that great and oftentimes doesn’t suggest the album that I want, so now I can just paste a release ID to get the album immediately. Next steps are building the functionality for the rating pages and figuring out how to store the user-inputted page data.
I’ve made the process to generate album pages. It’s not hooked up to a script yet, so there’s no functionality, but the Search->Page Generation pipeline works perfectly. You can search for an album with MusicBrainz API (or just give a release ID) and find an album, then get a preview to make sure it’s the right album, and finally generate an album page for it. All that’s left is making the script to edit the album pages as needed. I’m guessing this will be in 3 parts: being able to edit album “hard” data, being able to input ratings and comments, and being able to export/import album pages as a file. For now, I need to work on the former 2 parts.
Made the UI for the album pages (this is temporary, I plan to work on this a lot more later). I also added the ability to edit the album data. User input for the songs is not implemented yet, so this is all hardcoded. I spent a while trying to use ColorThief to automatically sample a background color for the album cover, but there were some issues with the package and I couldn’t get it to work, so I just hardcoded this color for now. I plan to get ColorThief (or a similar package) working soon, since the accent color is pretty important to the look of the app. My next steps are to implement song input (rating & comments) and improve the UI for this page, as well as the home page.
For the past few sessions, I’ve just been working on a dynamic theme for the album page. It automatically samples a dominant and secondary color from the album cover, and then: Creates a gradient for the banner, with both colors darkened (or lightened if needed) until it’s within a certain luminosity threshhold Darkens the primary color to create the background color Raises luminosity of the secondary color to color the tracklist numbers and “Tracklist” title. I added so much this time I forgot everything I did, so this is just what I remember. Made the HTML files generate with a parallel JSON file, which I’ll use for data importing/exporting Added custom colors. Returning to the Album Rater Album Rater is now fully saved using LocalStorage. I plan to add exports page exports very soon. A little background on why I chose the LSM6DSV16X: it had smart power features to make the device last a long time, and a machine learning core for more advanced tracking making it a perfect fit. My solution I could either suck it up and go forward with a 100+ device, or fix it which would require to restructure everything. Fix it i did. I wanted to find a comprable IMU that was supported in the economic manufacturing, similar footprint to the LSM6DSV16X, and had power regulating features that would not degrade my original plan. I originaly looked into other candidates like the MPU-6500(which a website I looked at for footprints literaly told me was too old to use). I also looked at the ICM-45686, ICM-42670-P, and LSM6DSOX, which where all standard-only. I then came across the LSM6DSVQTR, one of the only IMUs comprable to the LSM6DSV16X, on the economic tier. It retained the Machine learning core, low power mode, and had an almost identical footrpint to the original. So, with that change, and a few components that where replaced with a basic instead of extended variant, I had to rebuild the schematic. That was not as bad as I thought and took about an hour. It was very important for me to make this compact and accessible. to accomplish this I would place the xiao port, switch, and battery and motor connectors on the edge of the board for ease of use. the process when starting out I used the default 0.2mm traces for my routing. I wanted to double check this and as it turns out there are different sized traces for different use cases, rendering my original traces useless. Nonetheless I perservered. When I thought I was done, I ran the DRC, and a whopping 39 errors (if you go to 1:13 in the video you can see all of the errors). Luckily, a lot of these errors where the same thingd multiple times. For instance, In some of the narrower spaces, the increased traces I drew interfered with other pads and traces, so I had to change and alter portions. this was especialy true for the imu, which was microscopic. I also had issues with some of the ground pins being stranded away from the copper pour I placed, so I just routed them to the back of the board. there where a bunch more issues but that should sufice to cover my process for these days All in all pretty successful portion of the design process."}, {"post_id": 26346, "ts": "2026-07-11T02:38:21Z", "hours": 1.5833, "text": "July 10th - Schematics!! Goal Today, I wanted to finalize the BOM and get everything on to the KiCad Schematic, (making sure nothing gets fried :) My Circuitry Throughout this whole learning experience of creating the BOM, researching electronics, and so much more, I found it helpful to explain things so a 5 year old can understand it, so hopefully my explanation of this circuit does it justice :) My design works by taking power from a battery, not shown on the schematic, and controlling it with a sliding switch. For a microcontroller, I used an ESP32S3. To track posture, I used an IMU, with a super long name that if you care for, you can find it as the big square at the bottom of the schematic I also used a simple coin motor. Ultimately, this monstrosity was formed, with those key components and a whole bunch of researching in regards to capacitors, resistors, and so much more. (Any “pause” in the timelapse was me researching what to do because I didnt want to screw it up) Some stuff I found along the way I had to learn how to import footprints, and what to do when there arent any to be found. I ended up having to use the command prompt and a tool called easyeda2kicad to find footprints for the slide switch. Issues and Problems i encountered, because of course there are. Although I found out that I had to use easyeda2kicad, I ran into problems with it. Most notably was that it didnt work lol. This had a simple fix of just adding a python -m command to the beginning of the command. Worked like a charm after that. When doing the electrical check, I ran into a whopping 18 ERC Errors!!! 15 of these where solved simply with a cool feature that most people already know but I didnt, called the No Connect flag, which marked that I didnt use some of the pins on the XIAO and IMU. I guess they want me to use all of them :/ The last 3 occured because I did not include the battery in the schematic, so there was no power. (the battery would be connected through a cable, not soldering, so it didnt matter). I used another flag tool called the Power Flag to fix this. Of course, there where so many more problems, but I dont want to bore anyone reading this, so just enjoy the timelapse (I hope it looks cool) Next Time Next up is the PCB itself, how exciting!"}]...

Devlogs:
July 10th - Schematics!! July 14/15 - PCB Routing, probably the most important part in hardware design A brief overview of what I did so basicaly today I had to route the pcb, which would determine the layout of all of my parts in the real assembled design. I also had issues with some of the ground pins being stranded away from the copper pour I placed, so I just routed them to the back of the board. there where a bunch more issues but that should sufice to cover my process for these days All in all pretty successful portion of the design process.
July 16-18 - I had to replace the one thing that my design truly relies on :(((( (the IMU for the actual posture tracking part of my posture tracking device) What Went Wrong After finishing the pcb and schematic I wanted to put it in to jlcpb to get a quote, and it came out to almost one hundred dollars (see the image below) that was actualy crazy to me and so I did some investigating and it was because I chose to use a LSM6DSV16X IMU, which made my pcb switch from economic to standard, wildly inflating prices. Next up: CAD...

Added a google i-frame for all the search-related needs of this OS. Also, added layers for each of the windows so that they don’t stack weird again.
Added toggle functionality for the app buttons at upper left, also added open and close animations for windows. https://lufi.ethibox.fr/r/5NZznQa3go#x705kMk/SpaGbmEYww/xv+EFTaxE9telj5/ZDf9fVFc= this is the link to see the animations

Devlogs:
Im using the macondo guide for help on this! Added rp2040 and the capacitors
I had to research 2 things… first was that will they take a 3.3v, if not then what… turns out they need a 5v but if it goes above they will go boom boom so i added this capacitor, and directly connect it to vbus. and to stabilize the voltage and not boom boom the neopixel second was can i chain 68 of them! turns out i can.. so i added the chain in the schematic and wired it all! oh and also i found out that i can add themes :p
Added usb-c port Added crystal oscillator i could not for the life of me find that exact crystal footprint. turns out they changed it and now pins 2 and 4 are the same in the newer one…. aghhh Added flash storage completed (hopefully) the devboard; also did some reranging of the layout of the parts
i dont know why but finding a “hotswap mx 5pin switch” took so long :’(. but i finally found the MX_V2 lib!! switch matrix wired
so first i placed like about 10 of the 68 manualy using a grid, but then i realized there has to be a better way. and ofc there was i installed the [Keyboard footprints placer](https://github.com/adamws/kicad-kbplacer) plugin. and used this (image given) configuration, with a 65% preset from [KLE](https://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/)
i though about making it wireless… so i started googling and resurching, i would need to parts to this. making it bluetooth and adding a battery the battery is the easyier part of things, add a lithium ion battery, a charging chip/controller and connect it to the vbus and gnd. but most batterires only output 3.7v… but the leds need 5v to run :/ so if i use a battery i would need to give that up bluetooth was harder. i could add another chip but that would be much more complected and i cant just use the base qmk software i would need to cook somthing up or i could change the rp2040 chip entirely for a nRF52840. that would solve the bluetooth issue.. but i would then need to also remaake its devboard and i dont think i trust myself to do that and expect it to work. so i eventualy decided that its fine if its not wireless, it would reduce some weight and it would be relitivly thiner!
added footprints fixed minor issues here and there, hopefully there are no more :p
so i placed the components and started wiring… this is how it turned out.. but the actualy devboard part was too messy for me.. i simply could not manage to understand how i should wire it.... so i had to restart on the devboard…
omg this is soo soo much cleaner its so much better, took me so long tho! finaly the whole devboard is done!!
turns out filled zones are not so easy… and they dont allaways fully connect. so i need to place a lot of vias and connect them. and i have soo many of them i need to fix.. why is it so hard to find these.. ?? ok finaly im doneee!!!!
https://cdn.hackclub.com/019ed176-bd90-7930-8662-b6996dfa222f/image.png so turns out i forgot to add the spacebar stablizer... and now that i do it it is ontop of the parts witch means tiime to move a lot of parts and rewire a shit ton aghh some more filled zone issue + DRC hole overlaps finaly done and to wrap things up, added a little text to say i made it.
used the help of gemini to understand how qmk works and wrote it. thats it lol. it also helped me do proper mappings (ahm ahm vibe code)
so i wanted this to be simple compact case so i googled around and got inspiraration from this case. i tryed to follow the hackpad guide for freecad (fusion wont work on linux) but i coldnt. so i simply pulled up tinker cad and made this simple thingy!
turns out all the parts must be on one side or its like 5 times more expensive for pcba.. so i fliped the button and the power cable :p
why on earth did just formating the bom and fiding the parts from lcsc take so long
idk why it took me so long to figure out how to install the stablizers.. puting the switches was also quite quick but it took soo long to find the right keycap for each key and place it agh so turns out the "minimalistic" case i made has the wrong dimentions so i just decided to put some bubble wrap under it :p flashing the firware was simple.
both the hotswap sockets and the diodes were quite fast and easy once i got the rhythm tho the diodes long ends were anoying to cut and colect i tryed soldering the leds but those small pins and light weight were too mutch after like the 3rd one so i gave up on that. ...

Devlogs Title: Halyra IDE by @aavarvd | Stardance
Devlogs:
I successfully added line numebrs and auto scrolling, aiming for keyword highlightin next
Changed Buttons and migrated to Box() instead of Button
Added a not very well-looking custom title bar, I will fix it later
added a glitchy syntax higlighting, will continue fixing
Finished fixing bugs
finished adding auto indenting to the IDE, it was the most difficult task ever….. at least for now
finished indenting part
found a bug at indenting and still fixing….. Im going to explode
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO🎉🎉🎉🎉!!!!! After about 4 to 6 hours, I MADE TO FIX THE INDENTING GLITCHES!!! Summary: After trying 3 different algorithms, I reinspected the code of all my commits and noticed the true issue: I was trying to make the same implementation to handle different behaviors , which caused the bug. Basically Tab in editors had two different behaviors: prin|t(“a”) after tab: prin |t(“a”) the second behavior happens at the start of a line: |print(“a”) after tab: |print("a") I originally planned to use the same code to detect what the user wants, and it didn’t work well no matter how hard I tried until I separated the two behaviors into two snnipets completely, which just ended the bug that I tried fixing for hours. I’ll never be lazy again….
Hi guys! Its been a long time since i posted my last devlog, the main reason was because….. LEXER IS SO HARD TO IMPLEMENT before in Halyra PySide6 Edition, I just used a regex and everything works perfectly, but in Kotlin, somehow it didnt work, so i had to search for techniques and try to implement one myself(Kotlin tutorials are hard to find ಥ_ಥ) I retried and retried until I got what i wanted, class definition/call rendering, keyword, numbers string, and others rendering perfectly…. I was planning to use parser to detect variable definitions and calls, but It was so hard that i eventually gave up.. Anyways, I made it! I’m aiming for find and replace next ;)
Finished searchEngine, I decided to use the built-in Kotlin’s string searching, modified app.kt and hotkeys.kt for integrating ctrl+f(search) and ctrl+h(search and replace) Everything worked normally during the test, now aiming to make the UI to integrate to the app.
added auto closing brakcets, and still fixing search amd replace
Im still working on findbar focus requesting, probably wont add devlogs more until i fix it
Can anyone help me? I really don’t know how to deal with this error… Could not load the value of field valueSourceType of org.gradle.api.internal.provider.DefaultValueSourceProviderFactory$DefaultObtainedValue bean found in field obtainedValue of org.gradle.internal.cc.impl.fingerprint.ConfigurationCacheFingerprint$ValueSource bean found in Gradle runtime. Class ‘org.jetbrains.kotlin.gradle.internal.IsInIdeaSyncValueSource’ not found in class loader ‘InstrumentingVisitableURLClassLoader(ClassLoaderScopeIdentifier.Id{coreAndPlugins:settings[:]:buildSrc[:]:root-project : })’ of type ‘org.gradle.internal.classloader.VisitableURLClassLoader$InstrumentingVisitableURLClassLoader’.
I made an icon based sidebar with tooltips once hovered! Now working on making temp file execution(aka no need to save to execute, perfect for prototyping)
Improved UI! and tab support still in demo details: I added a terminal button at the sidebar to toggle visibility and also made the terminal vertically resizeable
Wow, tab handling went easier that what I was expecting..
Fixing tabs
I’ve been working on this feature that opens a folder to show a structure of the project but for some reason it crashes when opening an markdown file, I’m trying my best to fix it, I suspected it was the lexer trying to analyze through it and exploded because it wasnt python syntax, but even after disabling the lexer is still freezes, and crashes, the weird part is that i can’t close it with alt f4…. Btw for the ones who don’t know I absolutely gave up on making the find and replace bar work
I found the problem, it was becuase the file was too large it takes a minute to load and render, I’m trying to optimize by not giivng BasicTextField a big file in once, and while I’m fixing that, I added a user warning
guess what guys, I discovered a new bug sitting there and I went fixing it before it was reviewed for ship
Improved README as shipping staff said
Finished fixing terminal bugs, moved the toggle button of PowerShell and output console to the bottom and added a stop button
The ones who know should know
Too much coding for my brain🤯🤯🤯
Ships:
Hi guys! Its been 19 hours of development and bug-fixing pain already! I’ve been working on this “little” project about a python IDE written with Kotlin Compose named Halyra, I am probably going to continue working in it in future ships, and this ship is just usable neough for me to publish it to the world! Current features: Lexer based Syntax highlighting Python execution I/O Open/Save/Save as Tab based editing Open folder as project(altho project does not save) Planned features: Write a text drawable canvas myself as BasicTextField has issues processing files over 100KB Make a working custom title bar because windows default sucks WONTFIX: Find/Replace bar(you can still check it with ctrl+F and ctrl+H, but i won’t fix it anymore) My main objectives making this IDE was lightweight and good UI, which I think is what I;m currently stepping towards to, and I wish I could still have a chance to continue on this project!...
