Devlogs:
I and a couple friends are going to create a game about venturing unknown planets in search of a new earth to inhabit To start off I created a simple movement system with a double jump, dash and wall cling mechanic. the dash was hardest to implement because of all the small hiccups and things to keep track of, but I did manage to get a hold of it after a lot of trial and error. I started this project with the aim to learn composition and I’m happy that I was able to implement that into this project. If you don’t know composition makes your code more readable and modular. As you can tell there aren’t any sprites, but there will be in the future, but for now the Godot logo will be my placeholder.
Changes: -Polished movement -player jumps off of walls -dash is stronger -Added collectables -Added camera movement The collectable system was the most challenges from collision errors to tracking & counting collectables, but I did figure it out and learned how to signal between scripts at the same time. I also learned about the camera positioning smoothing option in Godot which cut out a lot of learning and trial & error that I would need to figure out.
Changes: -Added camera zoom -Added collectable counter The camera zoom feature is mainly for testing, but I though while I work on a map system I’ll give a pseudo map that make traversing the test area easier.
Changes: Changed dash mechanic so dashing downwards is possible Added sliding mechanic The sliding was strange to add, but I ended up figuring it out. Adding this I’ll make the game’s movement feel more fluid, like celeste. Later I’ll make a momentum system to increase the slide and the dash distance depending on speed
Changes: -organized file system and scene tree
Changes: -Cleaned up backend more -added coyote time -make scene/ level changing work
Devlog 8: Did: -Started w/ fixing coyote time Reworked jump to make coyote time work Remade double jump by making double jump variable -Make System for changing levels Used signals w/ parameters to send path to next level -Fixed up collectables Turned of collisions for .1 seconds so collectables won’t be collected on start up (hopefully)
Changes: Added a Health System Re-added the Collectable counter Life Update: To explain the big gap in updates, I got burnout. while working on the project I ended up working too hard and too fast, and a certain point I stopped to take a break and couldn’t bring myself to work, but I’m back now and won’t let that happen again.
Changes: -Added a placeholder level transition/ loading screen -Finally made level spawn points work -Added textures/ replaced placeholder platforms with actual assets The 2 photos are an example of making something unnecessarily complex. The few lines of code I used where the whole reason that the level spawn points took weeks the work out. So make sure you understand your code so you really know what’s actually helping and what’s bloat and holding you back.
Changes Reworked double jump Other small Tweaks
Changes: Made 5 levels Finished first reeditions of levels that will be included in the demo Small Tweaks: Made wall slide way faster Changed how dash cooldown works Here are 2 level layouts and their renditions/ filled out versions
Changes: Added UI with a working health, dash cooldown and collectable counting system -Tweaked dash adding a slight start lag and changed the way cooldowns work
Changes: Made a checkpoint System After disagreeing with a bunch of tutorials I decided to reuse a system I already had. Used the code to set player position at the start of the level and a global variables scripts to remember the position of the checkpoint and respawn the player when their equaled to 0 Made a “return to checkpoint” button to give use to the checkpoints in the levels due to there being nothing that will kill the player yet
Changes: Added jump cutting - make platforming feel better/ more responsive added settings menu added controls rebinding menu
Changes: Added state machine Added NPC with dialogue Added more menu options Added Debug mode
I tried adding a new game button. It did not work. the last for the last month or so and recorded 6 hours, I’ve been trying to create a system in my game to reset the player’s save. I SEVERELY underestimated how hard it’d be. It really is weird what gets you caught up in a project, if you wanna know more about my prosses and possibly help you can read below. So first I thought it would be as easy as deleting the save file that is already on the player’s system, that not only crashed, but after I fixed all of the bugs and errors I noticed it completely destroyed the saving system and the level loading system with it. after hours which turned to weeks of debugging, I figured it wasn’t worth it. At least not right now, this is a challenge I’ll tackle another day, or at least when I don’t have a time limit. But as they say, failure is apart of the process and I’m okay with that.
Ships:
This is a very early version of my game Planet Trotter. I am very proud of the progress I’ve made as before this I didn’t know anything of game development. The game is still very early in development, but I thought I’d put something out and ship a working version. have fun playing my game! :D...

I also added another detection method that works the following way: Message is: “ https://youtube.com meow uwu :3 also look at this 18+ video https://blocked.url ” The old system would’ve allowed this, because it’s remove any white spaces, so the message becomes: “ https://youtube.commeowuwu:3alsolookatthis18+video https://blocked.url ” Then, it’d check if it contains a blocked sequence of characters, which is “://” in that case. Then, it’d check if it contains any of the “good” domains, and if it does, it’d allow the user to send the message. That was a bad system, and I rushed it. The new system does this: Message gets chunked: [“https://youtube.com”, “meow”, “uwu”, “:3”, “also”, “look”, “at”, “this”, “18+”, “video”, “https://blocked.url”] And it iterates trough every field. So now, if a url is present in a chunk, it’d only check that url. I also added a language system, so what value you set in .env for “LANGUAGE”, it’ll use that +”.json” for every message. That’ll be useful when translating.
I added a system that sends the moderators a report about a flag in their own channel. I also added flags for encouraging self-harm.
Dear diary, Today, I added listeners when a message gets updated, so people can’t bypass the filter system by sending a message then editing it to a url, or something blocked. Also I added new translation keys.
Hello :3 I made the bot time out the user if they spammed blocked content!
Now you can create and close tickets!! It also sends a cute lil’ embed that you can edit in json :D
I’m pretty sure I added archiving, I don’t really know. Also, I swapped out .env to data.json for channel ids
Created ticket panel!
Added /profile command
Added welcome message HELLO
Added the ability to look up profiles by /profile minecraft_name:Polokalap Also started working on tier testing and swapped displaying tiers from text to emojis.
Added reaction emojis
Added queue ping selector :O Yes this took this many hours, because I had to create bugfixes, literally remake the db, and update the db creds. in the bot, the api.
Added a queue system that I’ll make a video on when the bot releases. Yes 3 lines for 16h
Did very little work today, I just cannot concentrate. Added a high tier ticket system ui, will make the backend later today or tomorrow.
HT Tickets added woohoo
Added /spin command
Added /admin-profile and retired tiers for normal /profile command (I also fixed some smaller stuff, but the bot is pretty much done at this point!)
I did some bug fixes and stuff, I wish I didn’t have to count 5 hours. I just need to post to resubmit, so I guess I made the readme actually useable and also fixed some minor issues.
Fixed admin-profile command, added banned rank and fixed some minor issues
Ships:
This is a Discord bot for a Discord-based Minecraft pvp tierlist. Basically there are testers who are good players, and they can tier test people in queues. This bot manages those tests and some other stuff like moderation....

I am new and working on a custom 3 by 3 key hackpad with an oled display and by now I have designed the keys schematic . Now in the next phase I will be adding the display and microcontroller to the pcb it’s something kind of a new experience designing a pcb and its fun and hectic
Designed the pcb layout for the macropad as I am using the 6.0.11 version which is compatible for my 13 yo mac model so some libraries are outdated caused me some trouble searching modules so I just added connector and spaced them accordingly for the pins of microcontroller right now facing error with routing figuring it out
FINISHED designing the pcb and solved the issues finished making the case and pcb now learning to make firmware
Spent 15-20mins reading documents understanding how to finish my repo and now proceeding for making the QMK firmware...

I copied most of the code from the guide and added some other stuff, a empty README file, another command, a example gitignore i found online, and an example .env file.
Today I cleaned up the structure of my code and I implemented 2 new features. One is a whitelist for slack ids (currently stored in ENV but i will be making a command later) and the other is an echo command that does exactly as it says when a whitelisted user runs the command.
I added a command that lists all whitelisted users and their corresponding IDS.
I added better logging to console, and i also added comments in my code. I also updated the README.md per reviewer request.

Devlogs:
Devlog #1 I am trying to make a 24-inch-tall mini vending machine. I started off making the design on paper I decided i was going to use a razberry pi 6 servos and one of those things that connects a ton of servos. I ordered all my parts and was off. I don’t really know how to make stuff or even code in python so this will be an adventure (; I started by figuring out what to code on and it took me a whopping 5 hours to get vs code to work with hackatime. first, I gave Hackatime all my personal info and then it told me to use PowerShell. I had no idea what PowerShell was and had to use that to initialize hackatime. then it told me to make a GitHub account, so I had to figure out what GitHub is, but I persevered and finally got it to work. Now looking back on it I could have easily set it up in 30 minutes if I knew how too. Questions 1 what do you guys use to make 3d models of your designs 2 how do I change my profile picture it won’t let me ):
Devlog #2 I am still trying to make a 24 in tall mini vending machine Today I made part the circuit in Circuit designer and I think it came out pretty good. I also made it so that when the vending machine is out of an item the servo resets so that you can refill it. I spent a ton of time trying to figure out how you can add to the angle of the servo before figuring out you can just add a + in front of it.
Devlog #3 So, I have not worked on my project in a while now because I got sick and other reasons, but I still found time to work on it. Firstly <–(is that a word?) I finished the circuit design and added buttons to my code. Then I checked my phone and my package had arrived! I had waited two whole weeks for these and they finally arrived. it was sprinkling outside but I thought nothing of it and started my journey to the mailbox with an umbrella and plastic bag. In the span of about 30 seconds the weather had changed from sprinkling to a thunderstorm with wind so strong my feet were almost lifted of the ground. I made it to my mailbox when I realized I had no idea which mailbox was mine though trial and error I had found ours I stuffed the mail in the bag and started the hike back home. this all happened while I was sick in a tee-shirt and shorts, but I got the parts which is all that matters.
Devlog-4 I Finally Got my raspberry pi to work and I am so happy it took so much time. At least that’s the only time I will have to do that. I was so flipping confused I searched up the manual, but it was so confusing. Mostly because I had no idea what half the words meant but either way I Flipping did it🥳🥳🥳🥳.
Devlog #5 I Finished the Tinker cad 🎉🎉🎉 Okay So, I have been planning on 3d printing the outside of the vending machine but then I realized I don’t have a 24-inch tall 3d printer. But I was not going to let that stop me, so I came up with this design. basically, I just cut it into thirds and then added things so they can snap together. Either way I have some questions feel free to answer them in the comments 1. how do you change your profile picture? 2. how do you make spaces between paragraphs my enter key does not work so I have to use invisible characters 3. Any critiques for the design and what color should I make it
Devlog #5 It’s been a while since the last time I did a devlog and I have done a ton of stuff so here is a list learned to Sodder🧠 Soldered a board 🛠️ figured out how to get my raspberry pi on the monitor💻 figured out how to run code on the raspberry pi 📝 and figured out I need female to female wires to actually wire anything 😅 ##I am super proud of myself for learning how to Sodder I was lowkey so scared of the soldering iron I have some questions though ⬇️ how does one change their flipflopping profile pic 🤬 what color should I make the outside of the vending machine 🤔 what is a git commit 🤔 what is your favorite color 😁
Devlog #5 Tinker cad and wiring 🖥️ I completely overhauled my 3d model because it was too big to 3d print 😅. My new design is more like a skeleton with 12 parts once it is assembled, I will be able to slide panels into the top to add walls I also finally got my wires and started figuring out how the wiring will work🔌...

A few months ago, I watched the NASA livestream where they announced the contracts for various lunar missions. After watching an hour of cool new design presentations, I was inspired to make a project that pays homage to the Apollo missions. Enter the Apollo 15 Lunar Rover Model! It can be controlled manually with Bluetooth controls or set to drive itself with the help of two ultrasonic sensors and two IR sensors. There are also two LED “headlights” that can be controlled manually or turn on and off automatically based on the light level (detected by a photoresistor). The servo motor, which will eventually have a decorative receiver dish attached to it, turns from side to side randomly. Before I could make it look cool, though, I had to test all the different parts and make sure they could a) fit in the chassis size I wanted to use and b) actually work the way I expected. This project has been a great learning experience so far - I’ve improved my coding skills a lot and I’m going to learn a lot about 3D modeling in the next couple weeks as I create the chassis for the V1. The hardest part of making this project has been working with the cardboard frame. Cardboard is great for prototypes because it’s super cheap and easy to cut and glue, but it tends to sag after a week. Plus, it’s not pretty and really takes away from the whole “model” thing. But using the cardboard did work well for the V0 and I’m proud of how it’s turned out.", "repo": "https://github.com/fish-in-a-puddle/Apollo_15_Lunar_Rover_Model", "demo": ""}]...

Finally, the Lunar Rover model can be built! After waiting a while for the motors to arrive, I built a cardboard frame as a prototype and 3d printed some wheels to get the rover rolling. So far it only runs a test sketch to go forwards, backwards and turn a bit (which really freaked out my dog), but next I’m going to have it navigate on its own using an ultrasonic sensor. Plus, I’m going to add two little astronauts in the seats, because this was not an autonmous vehicle. It was similar to a space golf cart and by god I will do it justice.
Over the past few days, I have tested several different configurations of sensors to give the rover the ability to navigate on its own. The most effective setup ended up being two ultrasonic sensors on the front of the rover and an IR sensor on each side. I’ve tested it several times and these sensors seem to be picking up about 80-90% of the objects in the robot’s path, which I am satisfied with for now. The next step is to add bluetooth controls to the rover so it can be driven using an app. I will start by using a bluetooth serial app that I already have, but I will eventually build a custom app as well.
The rover model can now be controlled using bluetooth! After a couple hours of troubleshooting, I was able to use an arduino bluetooth serial app I downloaded from the app store (the custom app isn’t ready) to send commands to the rover. The next step is to make it possible to turn the self-driving mode on and off through bluetooth.
I LOST MY TIMELAPSE TO THE CRUELTY OF HACKATIME ;-; so it says half an hour but it was actually more like an hour and forty-five minutes that it took to get the bluetooth and auto drive to work in one sketch, finish the first draft of the app and start writing the bill of materials. Integrating the auto drive into the bluetooth sketch was actually way easier than expected and working the commands into the app wasn’t too tricky either. The bill of materials, though, may actually kill me. Stay tuned to find out if I survive long enough to ship this guy.
Unfortunately, my Lapse is not recognizing that I have a Hackatime project to sync with so imagine I have about two more hours of logged time here :( but ANYWAYS the code is DONE! The app just needs to be TESTED! I am WRITING the DOCS and once I’m done of that, the Apollo 15 Lunar Rover Model v0 will be SHIPPED! Are you happy? I’m happy. But seriously, I just need to make a wiring schematic, a tutorial for building the cardboard frame, a demo video and write the README.
Wrote the README and organized some of my files. Still need to take and upload images/demo video and test the control app but otherwise it is done. If all goes well, I will ship the project tomorrow!
So, I’m a couple days late but I’m about to ship! Finished adding images and videos, added instructions for using a Bluetooth app (the custom one did not work out because mit app inventor is not super good at finding Bluetooth devices) and updated my bill of materials.
Today I finally got back to work on the 3d model and made a tester to print and make sure everything fits. Tomorrow I’ll actually print it (my 3D printer isn’t big enough for the whole thing to fit on the plate, so I’ll cut the model in half and put it together post printing).
