i have an old pc power supply and i want to make it into a bench power supply so i can have a bench power supply that can do high current the plan is to make it have 4 out puts: 12v 5v 3.3V 3.3v and a boost converter to boost to really high voltage input: it will be controlled by a rotary encoder because it has all the inputs i need for this in one component display: it will use an lcd display because i already have one. i want to display current draw voltage and wattage brain: i am going to use a nano becouse i have a few of them and it is small so it should fit in this small thing outputs: i am going to output with banana jacks so i can easily plug stuff in to it and i am going to add leds so you know what out put you are monitoring case: it is a frame that goes around the cornors of the power supply while keeping it open to alow air flow then the face hold the power supply in with screws
i forgot to post for a while. i made a lot of changes to the case because i printed out the old case and there is no way i could fit that much circuitry in that case: i made the case bigger to allow for a bigger face plate to fit more circuits and stuff and i added a small pocket in the back to store wires display: i switch to using an OLED I2C display because i kind of didn’t under stand that an lcd could not display enough info schematic: i just remade it because it was hard to loo at the old one
so i have once again redesigned everything AC: i wanted to add an ac output. why you may ask idk its funny. anyways i add an inverter after the boost converter and another output and to read the voltage of the ac output i added a ZMPT101B and i plan on making a sorta oscilloscope to the ac output cause it cool Display: i switch to a bigger spi oled because it can be controlled by digital pins and i need the analog pins to read the new outputs
i took a break to work on other projects while the parts i ordered arive but he is what i got working display: i got the display showing things after a lot of tutorials but i figured it out the funny sensor: once again i needed a lot of tutorials but i got it to kind of work but is was slightly off i think i just need to tune the sensor its just really finicky
i tried to make a boost converter for like 5 hours and it just didn’t work at all my guess is that it was do to the inductor. anyway i decided i will do that latter so i started working on sorting wires(fun) and while doing that i got ideas usb: so i learned this has a +5VSB and by found out i mean i actually read thought the data sheet like 30 hours in to this project and i want to add a usb port on it so i can power Arduinos my fume extractor and other things -12V: i original wrote this off because i hade a +12 but it turns out it is fun. and if it is there why not add another output it wont have a current sensor because it can only output up to 0.3A so why even bother case: i am going to have to make a new case because the current one cant fit everything so i am going to do that tomorrow and this should also allow for me to move where the rotory encoder it becouse before i put it in a bad spot becouse i didnt have space boost: i might switch the boost converter to the 12v rail idk yet just though i would menchin it
so my atx power supply broke on me i bought a replacement its just not here yet i am going to tack a small break on this to work on somthing else...

I have now started work on this by creating the manifest.json file and some other boilerplate like a very small README.md and added the MIT license. Next I will start to look into how the main home page of Stardance gets posts and how I can add new stuff to it. Will start by doing a bookmarking feature (like adding a favorite button that you usually see on social media). This is my first time making an extension so it will hopefully be fun and interesting.
Managed to write it up a bit, now added a favorite button, however I am facing a small problem with alignment relative to the other SVGS. Will focus on debugging this for now, and then continue towards actually making an UI to browse saved posts or even make a small server in Python to allow users save them remotely.
I decided to change the location of the button as I spent too much time being unsuccessful in trying to line it up with the others. I also made it such that newly loaded posts are also updated with this button via the MutationObserver API (Thank you StackOverflow). This is how it looks like so far. Next I will focus on making an UI to add actual saving functionality to the buttons and make some kind of server to be able to store bookmarks “in the cloud”.
For the last hour or so I had realized a big problem with the current implementation, which is that the Stardance app uses Turbo, which apparently in this case acts like a SPA (Single page application). Truth be told, I had to make more use of AI here than I usually would (however I did not copy paste code or add anything which I didn’t first check or understand) as I have not been personally faced with this problem before, however I was aware of this challenge from previous projects or blogs read. The problem was that if I just kept creating a new loop on every navigation to circumvent this, old loops would end up never finishing and would just keep waiting for new posts to load (which never happened), inevitably leading to a memory leak eventually. The fix ended up being using document.documentElement instead of document.body for the mutation because (according to GPT, however I will write a comment in case I come across any documentation) Turbo will replace stuff of the body inside of the whole HTML of the page (so, to ), which triggers a mutation when watching documentElement, however if we watch document.body, and Turbo replaces that all together, MutationObserver stays attached to the old, now removed, node, which means we are basically watching a dead node for new posts (again, take this with a grain of salt). This means I could also scrap the waitForElm function and shorten the code. There are likely many better ways to do this (which are welcome in the comments), but for someone who is still a beginner in extension and web development overall, I am just happy that it works and that AI helped me discover something new that I think is a challenge for many extensions that operate on modern web applications such as Youtube, X etc. Now free of bugs, I will continue working on the UI.
Added saving functionality and a testing UI to toggle online mode....

a splatter paint website
splat paint final
working on the splatter paint website again! project updates: went back to the original jam tutorial and realised how much I messed up on my first ship! (oh well…), now I’m starting work on this again with just a little bit more knowledge so hopefully I can improve what i’ve done! issues & aims: no real issues thus far! aiming to make a start screen, (with a blurry background, like the one you can see here!) hopefully this will have a “welcome to splatter paint!” with start buttons/new work and a ‘previous artworks’ where you can click and it takes you to your previous works I guess I’ll need a save button as well so that people can save their art! and hopefully I can alter it so that it only draws when you click? (or make a settings so that you can select ‘on click’ as when it draws?)
project updates: finally added the buttons, and used css to make them look gooooood they are yet to be functional though! issues & aims: had some issues putting the buttons in the centre of the screen! aiming to make these buttons actually work hopefully I can make a way to save artworks and maybe a settings screen!
project updates: the “new work” button now works! (clears the welcome screen so you can start working) the “settings” button now brings up a “settings” div added “Welcome to Splatter Paint!” to the start menu issues & aims: had some issues I had to troubleshoot (like a stray /div causing issues!) but so far we are doing good aiming to create a X button on the settings thinking of adding an Easter egg to the welcome screen… (you’ll have to see ;) ) hoping to create a “save” button also!
project updates: changed ‘previous works’ to gallery (felt fitting) added a ‘save work’ button and a ‘clear canvas’ button the ‘save work’ button now works! i had to ask vs code’s in-built ai how to make it work (as i couldn’t find any tutorials!) and then wrote the code out & asked it to explain what each bit did so I could learn from it, I also made a note of things i learnt for future reference! not sure if i added this in an update but i learned how to make notes on all my code and have been using that as I’ve found it really helpful for learning & keeping track of my work the gallery button also now pulls up a gallery div! issues & aims: no real issues so far - I’m not sure how I’m going to make the gallery display your previous artwork, maybe I could have it so you input your own work and each one has a little frame and you can scroll through? also not sure how i’ll clear the canvas or make a proper settings so I will have to hunt for some tutorials or ask for advice again 😅 thats all so far!
short devlog today as I’m visiting my uni town for a uni event! (yippiee!! but very busy…) anyways! onwards with the updates project updates: now the clear canvas button works! it brings up a div saying “are you sure you want to clear canvas?” with yes and no buttons! though i had to ask the in built ai to explain to me how to code the clear canvas part as I am still very much a beginner lol currently working on the settings part! aims & issues: meh honestly nothing because i haven’t had the chance to do much today! OH i might make a back to menu button though, and try and make it so that saved works appear in the gallery…
this will be the last project update (at least for this ship, so lets get on with it!) project updates: finished readme added the final touches and finished what i wanted to finish thus far aims & issues: i had some issues implementing a button that made it so that when you click then it paints, and unfortunately had to scrap this for now really the biggest issue i found throughout this project is that I struggled using paper.js as it meant i had to code in a (i believe) unconventional way, and I don’t even know yet how to code in a conventional way so it was more of a struggle and I had to look to ai rather than regular tutorials which I’d prefer hopefully in future when i have the skills I can return to this project for a final ship and improve it, but for now I’m happy with what i’ve managed to achieve as a newbie and I’d like to move on to other projects that are more feasible and I can learn from more! p.s. if you’ve made it this far, thank you for following along! (and please let me know if I’ve made too many or too few devlogs)
Ships:
I made a splatter paint website (that’s it, sorry). I found the whole thing challenging really because I used a tutorial which is meant for Replit rather than Git (and I’m a total beginner). But i am proud that I did it, I’ve never really done this before today. All you need to do is to just swirl your mouse around, and that’s pretty much it!
I made a website where you can splatter paint about! That’s it! & I’d say its pretty intuitive so there (hopefully) shouldn’t be much trouble for anyone testing it out! i hope you enjoy, and have fun splatting! :D...

Today, I managed to implement some important functions for R0B0. One of them was making him listen continuously. In the beginning, I had some problems with this feature because it was consuming around 20-30% of my CPU. After some tweaking, I managed to lower it below 10% (it still spikes over 10% sometimes, but only for a very short moment). Another very important feature I added was microphone input. At first, I tried using PyAudio (an older Python library for microphone access), but it didn’t work because I am using a very recent version of Python. I also tried workarounds like pipwin, but that failed too. Ultimately, I used two other libraries sounddevice and scipy and it worked perfectly! That’s all for today! See you soon, bye!"}]...

Dev Log 1 Joined Stardance at the start of June — now it’s about to end. Spent a month learning a language that took its developer 10 days to prototype! Finally shipped my first JS project: a Slack bot. Still a bash loyalist at heart, so I built a CLI parser (a minimal implementation) that lets users interact with the bot like a command-line tool. I’ve added a /summarize command to help me triage unread messages across Slack. It fetches the last n hours of messages ( -time flag) from a target channel (selectable via -channel flag), pipes them to the Gemini API, and lets users fine-tune the AI’s output with a custom -prompt flag. The dopamine hit of shipping this without blindly dumping AI-generated code was unmatched — the kind of serotonin you only get from debugging your own stack traces at 1 AM. And somewhere along the way, I learned to collaborate with the weirdo.
Devlog 2 Turns out one AI provider isn’t enough — so I added OpenAI support to the /summarize command via the -model flag. The interesting part wasn’t the API call itself. It was realising that Gemini and OpenAI have completely different request formats — different URLs, different auth methods, different JSON body structures. So I had to refactor the whole AI section: pulled the Gemini logic into its own askGemini() function, then built an askOpenAI() twin next to it. Also learned the hard way that OpenAI’s free tier doesn’t exist for developers. Got a clean 429 back . Finally SSHed into Hack Club’s server, set the bot up as a systemd service, and now it just… runs. 24/7.
Devlog 3 Built an OAuth server using Express so users can install the bot into their own Slack workspaces via an “Add to Slack” button. Got a shallow knowledge on how OAuth works and learnt how to build a express server to catch the code and proceed with OAuth Deployed it as a second systemd daemon on Hack Club’s server. Now both the bot and the OAuth server run 24/7 without my laptop being on.
Ships:
This is my first JS project. I spent two weeks learning the language and built this. The challenging parts weren’t the Slack API — it was the stuff around it. Handling permission errors without crashing, figuring out that Gemini and OpenAI have completely different API formats, and setting up a Linux server to keep it running 24/7 after my laptop closes. To test it, install it to your workspace using the “Add to Slack” button in the README. Commands are limited for now so the README covers everything in under a minute. Start with /haaitzzabot-ping to check it is alive, then try /haaitzzabot-summarize...

I’m actually super proud of the speaking audio. It’s five vowel sounds that play when the dialogue box types the corresponding vowel, and the pitch and such is altered by a table storing pitch, modulation, and voice set (some special characters have different recording sets, such as certain demons/enemies) and then modulation and pitch are used to calculate the actual pitch of the blip played, with modulation being used to multiply against a randomized number between 0 and 1 and then added to pitch. The lower modulation is, the less difference in pitch between sounds. For instance, the main character, Sakura, has a voice (pitch) of 0.89 and a modulation of 0.2, so she has a lower and more monotone voice. Her friend, Haruko, has a voice of 1.1 and a modulation of .6, so she has a higher and energetic voice. After calculating the modulation, pitch, and random number, the program also adds the punctuation pitch. If the sound is the last one before a punctuation mark, it figures out what type of mark it is and changes what it adds accordingly. For instance, if it’s ‘?’, the pitch rises by .4, if it’s ‘.’, it adds -.2, or if it is ‘!’, the pitch rises by .3. Aside from the work on the dialogue boxes, I also added Haruko as a follower in the platforming segment! Currently, she can jump and follow you and that’s about soon. She can also teleport to you if you get too far and she can’t get to you. However, there’s one small problem… Sometimes she takes a hot second to teleport, and just ends up jumping aggressively against the wall with increasing speeds, creating a horrible cacophony of sound T-T. It does fix itself eventually, but I might just like. Have to mute her. When she does that. A bit of a bandaid fix I know. I plan on having her be able to attack soon! The player also needs to be able to attack too, I’ve just been focused on getting everything in there. So, originally, Mahou Shoujo Sakura San (As the full title is called) was being made for a different console than PC. However, I really wanted to get the game actually. working. And there were some annoying technical difficulties getting in the way! So, now I’m making a desktop port, and I just copied its files to a secondary location for whenever I want to continue with the console version. Menu screen is more or less complete! This is still in the alternate file I made for modifications that lacks any actual interactibility, but once I get everything sorted, I’ll replace a lot of the code for the visuals in the main project folder with the stuff in here.
