I’m thinking to make the SpikePad+ compatible with all sorts of stuff. Maybe I even make a program for windows to control it. Its gonna make configuring it easier and programming all the buttons a piece of cake. Im looking to make the SpikePad+ connect to the program, through USB. For addons like HomeAssitsant it would communicate by using the SpikePad program (I’m probably gonna make, something like a driver) and share the data it wants to send, through the program itself. I also want to make an addon for the SpikePad to for example mute/unmute you on discord or Simple Voice Chat (minecraft mod), it would be great. For the main Menu of the SpikePad I want to make so the left and right buttons are: left and right (of course who would’ve thought?!), the center button a confirmation button, and the top button a back button. Or around, the down button the back button and the top button the confirm button. It would have a small menu of text on the screen - by having a small text we can work in modes, for example when the SpikePad boots up we have modes like: Discord, spotify, home Assistant, Minecraft and all. But once we confirm on one of them the screen brings us to more options like: mute for discord, next track for spotify and turn off the lights in HomeAssistant. It would be a menu IN A MENU. It was the only idea for me, how could I implement such big amount of my ideas into a small screen and some buttons. Im gonna post the entire journey to github and Hack Club. I want the project on github for one reason: people can recreate it. It would be very great to see people apriciate my work by making they’re own SpikePads, and addons for it. Im going to make the Windows program as simple and intuitive as possible, to make people come and program posibilities. Its something like a stream deck, but cheaper, and more cool. I dont really have an idea for the case, but it defenetly will have the colours green and white, im not sure yet if I want it to look like a cactus, it would be preety bulky.I want something small and preety, something to make people ask when they see it. I saw in the introduction there was a spinning bit (i dont know its name, im not so good at english. 🇵🇱), i think i’ll use it for more options, like: changing the volume of the song on spotify, or changing a user’s volume in Discord. I cant think of something diffrent. For now those were my ideas. Lets post my first devlog! Lets start!"}]...

Making my very own webOS It took a while to get here but I am still learning along the way. The only working things are the gif background and the live clock
CasOS, my own try at a webOS Took a while but now I have a draggable and closable window! 🎊
Panels! Multiple windows thanks to a cleaner js file and better clock formatting!
Working on the os! You can now “focus” a window and it will be the one with the highest z-index
We got app designs! Just saw now that I have to add a icon to the calculator header but its finee
Finishing touches and added an app selector!
CasOS A simple webOS with draggble windows, “focusable” windows and PANELS!! I am sooo proud to say that I made this!
Came back after some time and implemented the first pass for a notification system! It can also open the app that the notification came from. Still have to figure out a style for it and a method to dismiss.
Ships:
I made a webOS It has dragabble windows with auto z-index values Panels like gnome And animations! 🙂 I want to continue to add more apps, maybe a notification system and a configuration screen for themes or wallpapers (settings app) Aside from that I’d love to hear your feedback and improve from it...

Added Rotary switch and updated design of GamerPad! I have been working on this for almost two hours now, and i think it is really coming along! My knowledge of PCB parts is growing rapidly, (although this is still a mess) and I think I will be able to have the project done with PCB and Case by the end of the week.
A huge day of Re-Wiring and Even more tomorrow! Looks like I’m going to have to flip the XIAO manually which will be a pain. But I added a Gecko so its all worth it.

Devlogs:
Hello! This is my first devlog for this project that I am excited to make and share. To start, my goal is to make a simple app that allows the user to generate a custom planet using a few different options like the number of craters or color of the planet. I don’t plan for it to be very complex. I might add a shader or more complex options later but, time will tell. I’m making this app as a way to learn more about 3D environments and procedural generation. Today, I just made a very simple setup for bevy that crates a camera, sphere, and light source. See you all later, bye!
Vertices, vertices, vertices. Before this project, I had only used Signed Distance Functions (SDFs) to define shapes, not anymore! Recently, I had started messing with vertices to define the planet in my app. I started with thinking about adding craters. I was thinking something along the lines of “Oh, I’ll just get the subtract a sphere from planet to remove some area and make a crater!” I soon found out, however, that is the case with SDFs, but not with an object defined with vertices. Eventually, I found out about vertex displacement. The idea is pretty neat: I move each vertex toward the center of the sphere depending on if it’s in the aria where a crater should be. No need to add extra vertices, just use the ones already there! But the really cool part is that this can be done on the CPU or on the GPU with a vertex shader! But that’s about all for now, currently I’m just doing vertex displacement on the CPU but that could change in the future. See you all later, bye!
Welcome back! This will be my second devlog if you count my intro log as devlog 0 (which I do). Not much technical stuff this time but that’s OK, normal words are good sometimes! Since the last devlog, I’ve made a few small things like a user input system that allows the planet to be spun by using the cursor (craters can also be generated by using the C key but that’s just for testing). I have also put to use a system that I made a while ago that gets a random point on the surface of the planet. Although bevy dose have a system just for that called ShapeSample , the implementation is like 30 lines long and this way I have full control over the system.
It has been a while! Lately, I have been working on the UI for the app. Nothing super fancy, just a few buttons and text elements. I’m thinking of using sliders for planet editing; instead of +/- a crater, there would be a slider from 0 to 100 craters. The only problem is that it would limit the amount of craters and such you could have, let me know what you think in the comments! And if you have any other improvements you think would be good for the app UI, let me know! I’m thinking of wrapping up this project by the end of the week and getting it ready to ship. I have been hard at work on this project and I’m starting to feel a little burnt out, so I might take the next day or two to relax, meaning that plans could change. See you all next time, Bye!
Additions, Exporting, and the End Hey guys! It’s been a while (again). Since the last devlog, I have added a few new ways to edit your planet! You can now add mountains and change the size, color, and quality (number of vertices used) of the planet. I have also started work on an exporting feature that allows you to get a file that contains your planet (don’t worry, it will be common file like .obj ; not a format specific to this app). Currently it doesn’t work when compiled to WebAssembly so, it isn’t finished just yet. But, once it is working on the web it will start preparing to ship the app. Although that could change, just know that my next devlog might be the last one for this project. That’s it for now, bye!
My Own Planet have reached v1.0.0 I have worked on the export feature and now the planet can be downloaded as .obj for both local and WebAssembly. The project is also now on itch.io as well!
Ships:

Tasks included for this boss: Arrow Functions: You must write an arrow function that returns a specific value. This helps practice modern function syntax. Error Handling: You are required to write a try-catch block. This is essential for managing errors in real applications. Spread Operator: You need to use the spread operator on an array. This tests your understanding of array manipulation. DOM Demon The DOM Demon is the fourth and final boss. This boss has 200 Health Points and tests your ability to interact with the Document Object Model (DOM). Tasks included for this boss: Selecting Elements: You must use methods like getElementById. Creating Elements: You need to create new HTML elements dynamically using createElement. Modifying Classes: You are required to manipulate an element’s classList. Event Listeners: You need to attach event listeners to elements to make them interactive. Combo System We introduced a Combo System to reward accurate coding. How it works: If you complete a task correctly on your very first try, your combo increases. Visuals: Your current combo is displayed at the top of the game interface during a run. Reset: If you make a mistake and get the answer wrong, your combo resets to zero. These additions make the game longer, provide a better learning curve, and add a layer of challenge for skilled players who want to maintain a high combo."}, {"post_id": 845, "ts": "2026-06-02T15:21:36Z", "hours": 10.1433, "text": "Architecture and Routing The application now supports multiple distinct screens and states, moving beyond a single static view: Intro Screen: A landing page that introduces the game, lists the available bosses, and explains the rules. Boss Defeated Screen: A transition state that displays the player’s statistics for the defeated boss and previews the next challenge. Victory Screen: The final state reached after completing all content, presenting a summary of the player’s total time, attempts, and overall accuracy. Multi-Boss Support The hardcoded single-boss logic has been refactored. The game state now imports a structured array of bosses. A second boss, “Array Alchemist”, has been integrated into the loop. When a boss reaches zero HP, the game seamlessly transitions to the next boss in the sequence, resetting health while preserving total accumulated statistics. Audio Feedback To improve interaction, a lightweight audio system was introduced using the native Web Audio API. This avoids the need to load external MP3 files. Synthesized tones are now played during specific events: Correct submission (Hit) Incorrect submission (Miss) Boss Defeated Game Completed (Victory) Quality of Life Improvements Keyboard Shortcuts: Added a global event listener to the Monaco Editor. Players can now execute their code using Ctrl + Enter (or Cmd + Enter), greatly speeding up the trial-and-error process. Auto-dismissing Alerts: Feedback banners (success/error messages) are now automatically cleared after 2.5 seconds to prevent visual clutter on the screen. No new game mechanics were added. The goal was to make the layout clearer, more informative, and more polished without introducing gradients or heavy visual effects. Changes Boss Panel The boss panel was restructured. The boss name and HP bar are now displayed in a compact stat block below the sprite. The HP bar was thinned down and simplified. A row of task progress dots was added beneath it, one dot per task. Each dot fills white when a task is completed. The active task pulses dimly to show the current position. This gives the player a clear sense of progress at a glance without needing to count tasks. A damage flash effect was also added. When the boss takes a hit, a red ring briefly expands around the sprite and fades out. This makes successful submissions feel more impactful. Task Panel The task panel was redesigned with a header row containing two badges: one showing the current task number out of the total, and one showing the HP damage the task will deal. The description is now treated as the main heading. The example code block was simplified with a minimal left border accent. The victory screen was also cleaned up. It now shows a small “BOSS DEFEATED” label above the title, consistent with the badge style used throughout the rest of the UI. Global Styles Google Fonts were loaded globally for Inter and JetBrains Mono. Custom scrollbar styles were applied to keep the dark theme consistent throughout. Default browser margin and padding resets were added. Notes The color palette is strictly black, white, and grays. No gradients, no colored backgrounds, no glow effects. The only color exception is the red damage badge and the low-HP bar state, which are intentional signals to the player."}, {"post_id": 401, "ts": "2026-06-01T19:53:37Z", "hours": 0.4581, "text": "Project Setup We initialized a React application using Vite for fast development and bundling. For the code editing experience, we integrated the Monaco Editor ( @monaco-editor /react) to provide a realistic coding interface. State Management We implemented a custom hook, useGameState, to handle the game’s state. This tracks the boss’s HP, current level, and player progress. All progress is persisted using localStorage so players can refresh the page without losing their game. User Interface We designed a dark-mode interface with a split layout. The left panel displays the “Loop Goblin” boss, their current HP, and a dynamic health bar. The right panel contains the task description and the Monaco Editor. Dev Title: Coding Boss Fight by @Xfhe | Stardance
Devlogs:
Project Setup We initialized a React application using Vite for fast development and bundling. We added CSS animations for taking damage and completing tasks to make the gameplay feel responsive. Gameplay Logic The first boss, Loop Goblin, starts with 100 HP. We implemented four introductory coding tasks: Writing a loop from 1 to 3 Creating a variable with the value 10 Writing a function named ‘attack’ Creating an array and using the ‘.length’ property For the MVP, code validation is handled through fast string matching rather than executing arbitrary JavaScript. This ensures security and simplicity while verifying the core concepts of the user’s input. Next Steps Deploy the initial MVP to Vercel. Add additional bosses and more complex tasks. Consider implementing a secure sandbox for executing user code in future versions.
Overview This session focused entirely on improving the visual interface. The only color exception is the red damage badge and the low-HP bar state, which are intentional signals to the player.
Architecture and Routing The application now supports multiple distinct screens and states, moving beyond a single static view: Intro Screen: A landing page that introduces the game, lists the available bosses, and explains the rules. Visual Polish: The boss UI was updated to include a brief description of the current boss, and the health/task progress bars were refined to match the strict minimalist aesthetic.
New Feature Update We have added a new boss to the game to increase the challenge and cover more JavaScript concepts. Syntax Sorcerer The Syntax Sorcerer is the third boss you will face. This boss has 150 Health Points and tests your knowledge of more advanced JavaScript syntax. These additions make the game longer, provide a better learning curve, and add a layer of challenge for skilled players who want to maintain a high combo.
Player Health and Game OverPlayers now have a persistent health bar starting at 100 HP. Incorrect code submissions are no longer consequence-free. Every failed attempt causes the boss to attack, dealing 15 damage to the player. If the player’s health reaches zero, a Game Over screen is triggered, wiping all progress and forcing a complete restart.Combo System and HealingTo balance the strict punishment for errors, the combo system has been fully integrated into the gameplay loop. The UI now features dynamic combo badges that appear over the boss when players submit consecutive correct answers. Reaching a 3x combo mechanically rewards the player by healing them for 15 HP. This encourages careful code construction over brute-force trial and error.Live Speedrun TimerA live timer has been added to the top navigation bar. It actively tracks the time spent on the current boss combined with the historical time from previously defeated bosses. This adds a subtle layer of pressure and allows players to track their speedrun performance in real time.
Ships:
I built “Coding Boss Fight”, a browser-based RPG where players defeat bosses by solving real JavaScript coding challenges. The main challenge was managing complex game states across multiple screens (Intro, Boss Defeated, Victory) and building a custom sound system using the native Web Audio API instead of relying on external audio files. I am particularly proud of the smooth routing between different bosses and the minimalist, distraction-free UI design. To test the project, simply open the app, read the boss’s task requirements, write valid JavaScript in the built-in editor, and press Ctrl+Enter (or click Run) to attack.
Player Health and Game Over Players now have a persistent health bar starting at 100 HP. Incorrect code submissions are no longer consequence-free. Every failed attempt causes the boss to attack, dealing 15 damage to the player. If the player’s health reaches zero, a Game Over screen is triggered, wiping all progress and forcing a complete restart. Combo System and Healing To balance the strict punishment for errors, the combo system has been fully integrated into the gameplay loop. The UI now features dynamic combo badges that appear over the boss when players submit consecutive correct answers. Reaching a 3x combo mechanically rewards the player by healing them for 15 HP. This encourages careful code construction over brute-force trial and error. Live Speedrun Timer A live timer has been added to the top navigation bar. It actively tracks the time spent on the current boss combined with the historical time from previously defeated bosses. This adds a subtle layer of pressure and allows players to track their speedrun performance in real time....

Sorry for the slightly long ramble today but I figured it might be best to do so that way I can js go back and recap and continue in future devlogs. So today I tried to get majority of the “outershell” of my portfolio done so at a later time I can focus more on the proper graphics. The very first part of my portfolio as previosuly mentioned is inspired by a lava lamp because I think they are very cool. For slight context my passion is science, tech, medicine etc but I have always found art and aesthetically pleasing things in general to be very enjoyable too, so with that in mind I wnated my website to have a mixed media look so that it was futuristic in some sorts but also represented me as a whole. It might be very hard to tell what each segment of the website looks like currently its js fragments of a whole so i’ll try to explain the vision. In the hero section of my website its a lava lamp I might add mouse compatability so it moves with the cursor not sure yet waiting on feedback ig. 2nd section is a projects section with the projects I’m working on or have already worked on. 3rd section is the polaroid section so more about me its going to hopefully display a picture of self and a little avatar which I might make using blender or js a pixel and when double tapped I kinda fall and then drop loot js like minecraft but its styled as a what’s in my bag for things I’m interested in 4th section is a timeline of events that have lead up to this in some sorts 5th will be a corkboard vibe with all my videos and articles if I post them 6th section - The final one will hopefully be a telephone with the circle spiny thing which when spun will show a link to contact me eg. pinterest , youtube email js social medias I have. SO that was all for log 002
Today was an extremely tasking day as I tried to fix the telephone final section of my portfolio and create blog post pages and a gallary for my projects. The telephone are is still a work in progress as for some reason as the user scrolls down (prolly cause of the section dividers I made inistially) but the telephone only spins a little without spinning around all the way which I want it to. Once the fundamental code revolving the telephone I done I can actually start the customisation - Since the vibe for the portfolio that I am going for is mixed media I realised that I have to create said media and I can’t js leave stuff to ai cause no to AI art. So now I must create a miniture avatar minecraft looking pixelated character for section 3 which when double clicked will drop loot of some sorts kinda like a whats in my bad. And for the timeline section section 3 I have to add proper points and edit the kinda lines on the ladder to be less equal to give it a more realistic look and add pictures. Over all I’m really exicted for this project to be over so far I think its my favourite
Today after some delays I have finally finished the outer shell of my personal portfolio including how I want the js to operate / work so now all I have to do is properly add the graphics fonts I want just little things to fully give my portfolio a smooth mixed media feel.
Today I found a free 3d model of this cardboard box to put all the apps I am comfortable with using kinda like and experience box when the box is double clicked all the app logos will pop out for some reason my github isnt working today too so ill have to try again tommorrow godwilling to see if the repos work if not then ill just delete all my files and then re-add them
As the proper coding of my personal portfolio is done I thoguht I would just spend the day decorating it today and making it match my aesthetic etc to keep the mixed media vibe going. I started with adding the appropriate files to the projects sections and blog posts which links to the projects tab of my website to show all of them in more depth. A couple days ago I found a 3d model box that I was going to use for a whats in my bag type situation for my experience and software i’m comfortable with but then whilst playing minecraft I htoguth about the idea of loot dropping and decided to use my minecraft avatar instead. Then i finished the timeline with the past 3years of events which I think had a big turning point and then created a full page version of the timeline just incase anyone else wanted to see a bigger version I guess. After that was the links section I really wanted it to give a corkboard type feel its not there yet as I still need to make some graphics for it but its coming along. The final section the rotary phone is also completed code wise just like the hero section but I really want to add links for each number like my github, pinterest email etc just a contacts page but once the last scroll is taken I would really like a proper ring sound. Once the portfolio is fully complete I might create a youtube video or something to show the process and thoroughly explain what went into the creation of this my thoguht process etc if anyones interested 🐰🐰
Added more pictures on the corkboard and tried to fix the orientation and layout so everything looked more seamless. Added links to the rotary phone today and I will see if I maybe add the sound of a phone ringing after the last scroll is taken.
Today marks the end of this project I think. All of the proper code has been completed and I think if I have to add anythign else it would js be updating stickers on the corkboard and links for the thumbnails in the corkboard section. Today was mainly designing the actual thumbnails which took way longer than I had wanted to match the aestehtics and everything but we all done now. The portfolio should now be live if anyones interested and I might make a proper video on my youtube showcasing every part in proper detail and stuff if anyones interested
Added the proper links to the projects tab inside the files section so that all my projects can be displayed properly. Once all my projects are properlly done ill add a full blog or just make a video to go through everything nicely
Ships:
I made a personal portfolio to showcase my research, interests and passions to others who may be interested. This was a very fun project that I am very proud of I think it is very close to my original idea which I started with visually although this had many more issues that I was wanting escpecially with the js as it is one of my first times working with html css and js properly without just vibe coding the full thing I really enjoyed working on it and I hope anyone who sees this will enjoy my presentation.
I made a personal portfolio for myself with different sections a hero section in which my name surrounded by lava lamps are, a files section to show all the projects I am currently working on, an experiences section which shows the apps I know how to use and work with the most with my minecraft avatar, a timeline section with important events I have been in, a corkboard section with all my links which are available to the public such as my spotify, what I’m listening to, my youtube videos and my substack and finally a rotary phone with my socials which people can follow or contact me with. Hope you all enjoy this project as much as I enjoyed making it...

A immersive Roblox game that takes you to space to help clean junk in space (Will be released for testing when basic model is completed). Still need to fix many bugs and make lobby and maps look better. More updates coming soon.
Made junk float, added a dev product. Also made some lobby improvements!!!
Worked on Shop UI, made jetpack work, added more things to map, Junk can now be properly collected and it will update leaderboard. Made more UI updated, added a welcome sign with a UI decal. Lastly made it so different parts are worth different amounts of money!
Added 5 new items in shop. Added a second world, made it so progress saves. Made portals between worlds for easier transportation. Made a new game pass which give you 100k in game currency. Made it so when you touch a planet you get teleported to the world it belongs to. Added multipliers up to 100x. Polished map, and added Multiply to leaderboard....

TL;DR: win conditions, score, better network stuff meaning faster loading While there is still much to improve here, you can now win (with a score) and lose! The current level that exists has a goal of “make the orbit more circular.” Here are all the possible scenarios right now: Drifting off into space, never to return! Crashing into Earth! Both of these already existed but now there’s a limited number of burns (currently 2) and when you run out you will see one of these three things happen: Mission complete! This shows your score between 0 and 1000, with the latter meaning you got your orbit to be perfectly circular. The orbit became less circular The orbit didn’t change All of these are possible now and the game can detect each one, and so you can now actually play the game and get scores! In addition to win detection, I optimized the network transfer of data so it doesn’t resend all of the position information over the internet every time, just the new stuff. This makes the game faster. If you’d like, you can try the game yourself now at https://burn.jmeow.net !"}, {"post_id": 23187, "ts": "2026-07-06T00:34:35Z", "hours": 3.2375, "text": "Lots of new things! Things in this devlog (now with bullet points and more emojis) that I did: fixed some bugs and did some refactoring so it’s easier to add stuff! loading indicators! (they show progress now!) changing burn direction! now you can fly off into space never to return explosion on earth impact! this fixes some weird stuff where you could go through the earth and when you hit the center it kind of shot off into space and broke. As always, check out the live demo at https://burn.jmeow.net and join the Slack channel #burn ! Also: any thoughts on this type of devlog? Do you like it better or worse than my other ones? (this one has more emojis and is a bit more concise) Please comment your opinion or tell me in Slack if you’d like to."}, {"post_id": 21519, "ts": "2026-07-03T15:03:53Z", "hours": 2.5589, "text": "Adding burns in the UI! I changed several things in this devlog (well really only about two). The first one is the time system. Now, under the slider, you can see the time before or after “now.” The time in the future is predicted up to 8 hours ahead for selection of when to put the next burn. You can only simulate burns in the future. The other change is that now you can add a burn to the current point selected in the future using an interface in the top right (early prototype, the ui will be different later). You type in the number of seconds the burn should last, move the time with the slider on the bottom to when you want it to start. Then you press “start burn.” It takes a second and I haven’t added a loading indicator there yet, but does do things once you click it! If you’d like to try these new changes out, go to the live demo on https://burn.jmeow.net ! Note: I am aware that you can go right through Earth and it looks weird. In the next devlog I’ll probably add an explosion when you hit Earth so this doesn’t happen. TL;DR: You can now add burns in-game and it simulates the trajectory of the spacecraft 8 hours ahead."}, {"post_id": 18744, "ts": "2026-06-29T22:43:05Z", "hours": 3.1661, "text": "A burn and some particles! I made some big changes to the backend so that the game can modify the trajectory of the orbit more, and added a burn to slow down the spacecraft! Fancy space visualization things! I installed an open source piece of simulation software by NASA called GMAT (general mission analysis tool) which has a GUI and a scripting interface. (GMAT is really cool, though I sadly don’t understand much of it yet) It can output computer-readable files of where things go (among other things) and I made a demo program for reading these files (if GMAT is configured correctly) and visualizing the position of a satellite. I’m using GMAT for realistic simulations (currently manually, programmatically in the future). Image is of a satellite being launched into lunar orbit.
I spent all day today configuring NeoVim (my code editor) and did not get much done so far. I did set up a web app with fun things like SCSS and hot reloading, and I made a cool splash screen (attached below)! Also made a simplified to-do list, which I’ll probably add more to at some point.
Title screen! In this update I added a title screen, as well as a small notice saying that the game is in development. This is so that when it’s deployed, people won’t get confused about why none of the buttons work on the title screen (they don’t yet). Speaking of deploying this, I put the current version on my site at https://burn.jmeow.net ! Feel free to check it out, but be aware that the buttons don’t do anything just yet. Moon orbit… in a browser! TL;DR: Spent a long time researching, also decided to use the SPICE library instead of GMAT for calculations, and run SPICE on a remote server instead of the browser. Images are the path of the moon’s orbit around Earth, drawn inside a web browser(!!!) ⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆ So it’s been kind of a while since my last devlog. The main reason for this is that I’ve been working on things that can’t be tracked with Hackatime or measured very well, such as attempting to compile things (In the terminal, not an editor) or researching on various websites. (Speaking of which, here’s a really good NASA resource I found for explaining the basics of spaceflight) I’ve decided to make some changes to how I’m going to simulate the game. Custom satellite trajectory! Turns out SPICE does not do everything I need it to after all, so I am going back to GMAT. Instead of compiling it to WebAssembly, I’m going to run calculations on my server (Maybe WASM in v2? We’ll see). The image below is my custom 3d renderer made in my last devlog adapted to work with GMAT’s output. It’s showing the path of a simulated satellite in orbit around Earth as it starts a long burn pushing it off into space. The white circle is Earth.
In-game UI (the beginnings of it anyway) I made a design in Figma for some UI elements, and now I’m starting to implement it in my actual code. Next I will be starting a custom 3D engine for the simulations. The screenshot is the current state of the UI (the square is a placeholder)
SPHERE MOVE YAY I have begun the 3D-ness of the game’s graphics. This is likely what Earth will look like in version 1, although I might change it eventually. Probably won’t modify too much more about the 3D engine for now because I’m about ready to start adding actual simulations! That’s for the next devlog. In the meantime you can play with my movey sphere at https://burn.jmeow.net ! Note: if you are in the Hack Club Slack (which you probably are but I know these devlogs are public) join the channel #burn for slightly more frequent updates and more screenshots!
3D Orbit Simulation Visualizer! I integrated the backend I made recently for calculations with the new 3D engine! The orbit calculations run using NASA’s GMAT on my Mac Mini home server, which the website then fetches data from to display on the page. If you’d like to try this out yourself, go to https://burn.jmeow.net and click Play! Note: if you are in the Hack Club Slack, join #burn for slightly more frequent updates and screenshots!
Wheeeeeee There is now a slider to control the simulation’s time! I also added a play/pause button to watch the animation at 1000x speed. (1x is extremely slow looking) In addition I made some server-side changes to reduce re-calculating things over and over again so my server doesn’t have to work as hard and loading times can be faster. If you’d like to try the latest version out for yourself, check out the live demo at https://burn.jmeow.net !
A burn and some particles! I made some big changes to the backend so that the game can modify the trajectory of the orbit more, and added a burn to slow down the spacecraft! Then I also added a fancy particle effect when a burn is happening that shows the thruster in use. The changes are live on the demo website if you’d like to check it out now! Also… I’ve officially hit 20 hours of working on this project! (this is my longest hackatime project I’ve ever made lol)
Adding burns in the UI! TL;DR: You can now add burns in-game and it simulates the trajectory of the spacecraft 8 hours ahead.
Lots of new things! (this one has more emojis and is a bit more concise) Please comment your opinion or tell me in Slack if you’d like to.
An actual playable game! If you’d like, you can try the game yourself now at https://burn.jmeow.net !
Fancy burn creation UI It’s been a while since my last devlog but I’ve made some changes to Burn! There’s a new interface for adding a burn (video attached) When not actively being played the game uses far fewer resources on your computer After clicking “Watch Replay” on the end screen there is a “Back” button to return to that screen (image attached) More new things hopefully coming soon!...
