Well my name is Krupam and this is my passion. Wind. Specially Onshore winds. Onshore winds are also known as a “sea breeze”. They are winds that come from the ocean to the land. Caused by a temperature gradient by the land and the sea. Land heats up a lot faster than water, further increasing this gradient, leading to more onshore winds. They pose a dangerous threat to small watercrafts especially on the bay (lagoonal estuary) where I live. They provide a threat to boaters, tourists, passengers, or any one on the water. In fact, local boaters have become so attuned to their dangers, that they will intentionally go out of their way to avoid them. However, these winds are almost impossible to predict. Big weather forecasts, such as the National Weather Service (NWS) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) can’t predict these winds on a local small level. Thus I set out on a mission to predict these winds myself using machine learning, mathematical models, and gathering my own data using local weather stations, buoys, and local boaters. Last year I was able to get accuracy down to 0.5 mph for wind speeds, ~1.0 mph for gusts, around 26° off for wind direction, and ~13% off for if it is an onshore wind or not. This project is running at https://wind.krupamlab.com on my homelab. You can take a look at the old project at https://github.com/Krupamc/Research-2026-LSTM . The project also has python as well as a .exe version available through the releases tab on GitHub. This project: Now that’s a lot to take in, but I’m going to make it so much worse haha! Now these systems are cool and all, but they could get so much more accurate. I want month by month representation for the entire year; not just the summer months. A huge part of science, especially data science, is that data has to be available throughout the entire year. I have personal experience with this. One of the buoys I was using to collect data; switched off without any indication. This really limited my project and I will be fixing this problem head one. I want to have predictions that are accurate for the safety of these boaters. But to make it more interesting this year, I will be using several machine learning (like LSTM), mathematical models (like Linear Regression, wind formulas, probalisitc models (e.g. 80% of winds above 10 mph), as well as compare against the NWS models. Then depending on which one of these approaches is most energy efficient and accurate, I will expand that approach to cover other weather parameters and be used as a input for a AI model to determine where a water drone should go in my bay to increase battery efficiency. Now what the hell is this drone I can hear you ask? Well I am cooperating with a local underwater search and rescue team that is creating a water drone that will go on the bay and collect water and weather quality parameters. This drone will be autonomous and creating this model will allow it to increase power efficiently. My Buoy Buddy - MBB Last year, one of the public buoys I depended on suddenly went offline and wiped out a huge chunk of my training data. It made my realize that having control to reliable data is crucial. Many organizations collect this data but do not share. If I really wanted to protect boaters out on the bay, I would need a way to procure my own data. That’s why I am building the MBB or the My Buoy Buddy. MBB is a small, low-power buoy that floats in the bay and logs, water temperature and more! This data is sent to my homelab to predict. I have done a lot of work… Hi! My name is Krupam and this is the first post I will be making for this project. Hey stardance family I think I realized a little too late that Pebble is a full fledged project that will DEFINITELY not be completed within the deadline for stardance, so I’m debating whether or not to keep it private or put it on forge or another ysws. I had to find another battery and charger to drive the servos,so hopefully I’ll be able to prototype soon! I’m still mocking up a simulator. IF anyone has recs for sims, lmk!...

What is Core-XY? Core-XY is a popular belt-driven motion system commonly used in 3D printers and CNC machines. Instead of having one motor move the X-axis and another move the Y-axis independently, Core-XY uses two stationary motors that work together using a single, continuous loop of belt to move the toolhead diagonally, horizontally, or vertically. Details The Gantry hub is 3D printed out of PA6-CF Nylon for maximum strength, and it has many through bolts that support the bearings and pullies that double as rigitidy in the structure. There are bearings that ride on the large 2x2 aluminum tube that allow for side to side motion Other bearings ride on the smaller 1x1 aluminum tube that allows for up and down motion. The gantry was designed to be as light-weight as possible due to it riding to the far end of the cantilevered aluminum superstructure. How does the belt work? The best way to describe the shape of the belt is a plus symbol, since it goes from the left to the center to the top to the center then to the right ect. The belt is terminated and tensioned at the bottom of the 1x1 aluminum tube, this is what allows for all of the motion since the tube is effectively riding the belt. I don’t know if that makes any sense lol, but pretty much if the motors spin together it translates left and right, and if they spin in opposite directions, it will go up and down. Belt Tensioner! Today I designed the belt tensioner for where the belts terminate on the gantry, it uses ratchets to tension pullies with the belt wrapped around them. I also designed the mounting piece for the wrist mechanism. Large Design Updates! MOST OF THE CONTENT FOR THIS DEVLOG IS CONTAINED IN THE ATTATCHED EXPLANATION VIDEO TLDR: I lightened the main gantry structure and gussets in an FRC style in order to keep weight and inertia down. I built a custom configuration panel that allows the viewer to select through different configurations including the greenhouse, garden bed, ground, or crops I built a coordinate variable system in order to help me control all 7 axis of movement in the system individually. I added vegetation in the garden bed in order to better convey the purpose of the system. SEE FOR YOURSELF! Traversal X₁ Axis Motor Today I made the mount for the stepper motor that runs the belt for the x-axis What is the motor’s purpose? It will allow the robot to move up to 120 inches down the garden bed. It engages with a belt that pulls the robot down aluminum tubes to traverse the full length Technical details It uses a 1x1 aluminum tube with 1/8 inch walls to mount to the main turret plate and them it houses the motor, pully and idlers for the belt I also shifted the entire belt over to the left for a better motor fit. Electronics! Today I made an electronics box and modelled the spacing of the main electronic components. Electronics specifications: SBC: Raspberry Pi 5 (4GB) Motion controller: BTT Octopus Pro V1.1 (H723) Closed-loop drivers: StepperOnline CL57T V4.1 48V PSU: Meanwell SE-200-48 or similar Enclosure: Joinfworld Outdoor Electrical Box, 16x11x6 ABS Plastic The box is held up in the superstructure by four 3D prints and cable ties. BOM Part List Configuration I did the long and tedious Task of going through every single part in the project and give each one a custom name, description and product details. I did this because of onshapes built in BOM tool, so now it gives me a full list of needed parts and quantities. I edited the properties of over 300 parts to do this. BOM Complete The BOM has been completed, I am now ready to submit for funding...
