All extend the Transform class, which is ready for translation, scaling and rotation, but currently scaling is unused. It also provides helpful utility methods for using matrices created by it’s subclass to selectively apply the transform to provided vectors, and to get the coordinate system basis vectors (forward, right and up), with choice between camera space or world space, and scaling them or not. I also created 7 subclasses, providing partial transformation support (just translation; rotations along single, two or three axes: and translation with rotation). I’m using very descriptive class names, with Pxyz meaning “Position with X, Y and Z coordinates”, and Rxyz meaning “Rotation around X (Pitch), Y (Yaw) and Z (Roll)”. From this I get names like Transform_Pxyz_Rxyz for general position and rotation, and Transform_Rxy for rotation without roll. Finally I also updated the camera to use the transforms, but there is nothing visually changed that could be showcased"}, {"post_id": 13585, "ts": "2026-06-22T08:00:12Z", "hours": 7.7183, "text": "I have prepared the base of the engine for further work. I also made a set of gl.hpp and glm.hpp utility headers for including all used parts of OpenGL, GLFW and GLM. I have made a buffer class to easily create and fill buffers. I also created a shader and a program class to help with loading, compiling and linking shaders and shader programs. There is also a basic camera class, but it’s awaiting a redesign after I finish the transform system, that will provide an easy way to position, rotate and scale objects like in other game engines. The project is currently linux oriented, with the use of host’s glfw and glm installations. The glad files are included, but when I decide to support Windows I will have to package the other dependencies with it too."}]...

The glad files are included, but when I decide to support Windows I will have to package the other dependencies with it too.
Finished the basic transforms. Finally I also updated the camera to use the transforms, but there is nothing visually changed that could be showcased...

The app aims to both save food from going to waste and save time by generating quick and easy recipes using your ingredients and leftovers. Note: recipe generation can sometimes take very long because of free plan Gemini API so be patient :( Also recipe images are picked from a small selection based on the best fit. Since I only have like 10 images in the database, the meal image not very accurate to the recipe, but I plan to expand this to ~1000 images to fix this. Challenges: LOTS and LOTS of bugs everywhere! When I started the project, I had never done React Native before and my React/Js skills were not the strongest either. As a result, there was a lot of learning along the way, primarily in the form of encoutering and fixing bugs. I also faces many obstacles when it came to design, as I completely redesigned more than once. While initially the app generated a single recipe, I redesigned it to be centered around the swiping feature instead. I am really proud of designing the app entirely myself, as that part was done with no AI whatsoever. I am also proud of how I was able to implement many features that seemed very complex initially. I developed the majority of these features without AI as well, which was rewarding and taught me a lot. Features: Three ways to generate: use only your pantry ingredients, pick specific ingredients to cook with, or let it use any ingredients Swipe through recipes: swipe right to save a recipe, swipe left to skip it Customizing recipe generation: set difficulty, cook time, servings, meal type, cuisine and dietary restrictions Surprise Me: tap to get a random recipe Pantry: search an ingredient database and add things to your pantry, including leftovers dishes Follow Recipe mode: ingredient checklist, nutrition breakdown (protein, fat and carbs), step-by-step instructions, cooking timers and helpful tips Timer notifications: if you leave the app while a timer is running, you’ll still get notified when it’s done, and tapping the notification takes you right back to that step Saved recipes: sorted into categories like Tasty Meals, Sweet Treats, Quick Snacks and Under 15 Minutes Grocery list: items get added to your pantry when you check them off, and you can uncheck everything to reuse your list Browse by category: scroll through lunch, dessert and other recipe ideas straight from the home page Achievements: There are 8 to unlock, including Leftover Legend, World Tour and Late-Night Snack Profile: profile picture, how many meals you’ve generated, and unlocked achievements Light and dark mode Privacy: data stored on device, erase anytime on the profile page", "repo": "https://github.com/ashermemon/meal-mash", "demo": "https://github.com/ashermemon/meal-mash/releases/tag/v1.0.1-beta"}]...

Devlog 3 – June 7-14, 2026 New Generator Page + LOTS of bugfixes! As I finished work on the recipes and swiping portion of the app in the last few weeks, the next page I wanted to work on was the generation page. Devlog 8 SAVED RECIPES, achievements, new icons, haptics and MORE With the redesign of the profile page in the last devlog, I had one more key page to rework: the saved recipes page. Previously, it was a really ugly list of recipe names inside boxes, and that was about it. Meal Mash turns whatever’s left in your fridge into your next meal. Features: Three ways to generate: use only your pantry ingredients, pick specific ingredients to cook with, or let it use any ingredients Swipe through recipes: swipe right to save a recipe, swipe left to skip it Customizing recipe generation: set difficulty, cook time, servings, meal type, cuisine and dietary restrictions Surprise Me: tap to get a random recipe Pantry: search an ingredient database and add things to your pantry, including leftovers dishes Follow Recipe mode: ingredient checklist, nutrition breakdown (protein, fat and carbs), step-by-step instructions, cooking timers and helpful tips Timer notifications: if you leave the app while a timer is running, you’ll still get notified when it’s done, and tapping the notification takes you right back to that step Saved recipes: sorted into categories like Tasty Meals, Sweet Treats, Quick Snacks and Under 15 Minutes Grocery list: items get added to your pantry when you check them off, and you can uncheck everything to reuse your list Browse by category: scroll through lunch, dessert and other recipe ideas straight from the home page Achievements: There are 8 to unlock, including Leftover Legend, World Tour and Late-Night Snack Profile: profile picture, how many meals you’ve generated, and unlocked achievements Light and dark mode Privacy: data stored on device, erase anytime on the profile page...

Created initial Electron app from scratch + began simple UI work. It looks a bit ugly right now, but I’ll work on the coloring and theming after I get the general layout down.
Major UI rework + additions (it actually looks like a real app now) and began implementation on some backend stuff for the app...
