[{"post_id": 50853, "ts": "202 [{"post_id": 50853, "ts": "2026-08-20T09:20:15Z", "hours": 10.2208, "text": "gui and paste (lots more options) [+_+] so i am building a daemon right now and i finished making it a 24/7 service so now it runs perfectly 24/7. i made a gui also using rust and there are basically with that new options you can choose what your middle mouse btn does, you can change it to copy, paste, default, self programmed auto scroll and generally disable all system things with the middle mouse button. you can also assign any other key to any option now, multiple keys are possible too so you can bind like the other mouse buttons if you have side buttons so thats cool hope you like it [-_-] so now a bit more on how the whole thing acctually works cuz its kinda cool. the deamon grabs the mouse on the cernel level with e dev and makes its own virtual mouse plus keyboard with uinput. that means it works evrywhere on linux so wayland and x11 so its not just a userspace script that only works in one app the middle click paste is gone and replaced there with my own auto scroll winslop style like you can also custemice it in the gui getting the scroll working on wayland is the anoying part you have to send the new high res wheel events the old onces just get ignored the gui and the deamon is talking to each other live you can change something in the gui it writes a tiny ocnfig file and the daemon watches and reloads instantly so there no restart so 24/7 and now to the best part its all without root. youre just in the input group and theres one udev rule for uinput, plus a systemd user service with linger so it survives logout. under the hood its split into 3 rust crates, one shared config, the daemon, and the gui. probaply nobody reading that here anyway but if you did thanks for reading and hope you guys stick around"}, {"post_id": 49837, "ts": "2026-08-18T19:45:24Z", "hours": 8.1067, "text": "linux autoscroll [+_+] on linux, middle click doesn’t autoscroll it pastes whatever text you last selected. why would i ever want that? i want autoscroll.
