I added some new commands but it took a bunch of my time. I found myself stuck in adding /ssb-weather and /ssb-ipinfo because I was unable to get Web API and format right. Well the rest were not much of a problem, so it went smooth after that.
Finally pushed it into git repo and setup ssh server to run it 24/7
I made a Demo Web for my bot and patched up this project you can check demo site on sanjaybinayak.hackclub.app
I was requested to fix my /ssb-userinfo command, and I fixed it just now. My users and links from slack command were not escaping to my bot, instead it was receiving plain text. So i fixed my slack API commands and improved my code.

🚀 I built RetroSpace OS, a retro sci-fi/cyberpunk web operating system interface completely from scratch! 🧠 What was challenging: Perfecting the custom JavaScript window mouse drag mechanics to ensure multiple desktop windows move smoothly without getting stuck or lagging on screen resize. ✨ What I’m proud of: The complete CSS grid and flexbox layout structure which gives it an authentic, immersive retro terminal appearance, along with the custom working Audio Synth Pad app. 🕹️ How to test it: Click “Try project” to launch the OS, drag the windows around your desktop, and click the controls to interact with the system features!...

Added a new level kinda, with the moving platforms. As well as checkpoint 6. But then I realised that the checkpoints looked kinda bad, and the platform were signalling the checkpoint anyways, so I hid the block with the checkpoint logic, and the logic still runs despite being invisible, making the overall game look much better
Made a like part where there are these scary red lasers going up and down, you have to like move your character. Also started working on the finish line, wanted to make it like very very minimalistic to be funny kinda, all that for a single flag. Will start polishing and implementing finish logic.
Organised the coins properly, along with having the winscreen logic and everything. Also have the red lasers the killing logic, as before they just did nothing.

Repo https://github.com/MentalDecoherence/Glyph What is this Every typing test lives in a browser tab nowadays. Glyph doesn’t. It’s a fully functional typing test that runs entirely in your terminal - same ghost text you type over, same live stats - minus the tab, the ads, and the internet connection. Open a terminal, run one command, start typing. No account. No telemetry. No JS. No TS. No BS. Just curses and a word list. Why it feels right Most terminal typing tests either regenerate a whole new screen per test which is annoying, don’t show you a real prompt to type against which feels like a guessing game, or make you dig through a settings menu every single run (annoying again.) Glyph fixes all three. How it’s built Glyph is one dependency-free Python file built on curses . A few things worth knowing if you’re reading the source: Layout engine - a small word-wrap pass maps every character index in the target passage to a (row, col) on screen before rendering, so the ghost text, the typed overlay, and the real cursor position always agree with each other, even after a terminal resize. Time mode auto-extends - if you’re typing fast enough to reach the end of the buffered passage before your timer runs out, Glyph silently generates more text behind the scenes. You’ll never hit a wall mid-sprint. WPM math - standard (correct characters ÷ 5) ÷ minutes elapsed , plus a separate raw WPM that includes mistakes, so you can see both your real throughput and your typing accuracy trade-off. Contributing Issues and PRs welcome - especially new themes and word lists. Keep it dependency-free, that’s the whole point. License MIT. Do whatever you want with it. Seriously."}]...

Made basic movement So you can move and jump now ! jumping still needs a bit of adjustment.
Finally finished the movment I finished basic movement and Added sprinting!
Made sliding mechanic So you can Slide now there is a cooldown of 1.25 seconds so its not OP!
Dear NVIDIA… 3 times, i reinstalled debian 3 times because of the stupid drivers, one time it just didn’t work then got it working but secure boot coudn’t be enabled. But it was all worth it :)
Im not really having fun… So i’ve been folowing tutorials for movement and i wasn’t having fun and quickly get distracted so i just made a fun parcour with a boucing mechanic (myself btw). The 360 at the end was so sick!
PC overheating…. So my pc overheights since im on linux and they don’t have my motherboard drivers so my fans don’t work si my gpu overheats! I can’t switch to windows where fans are working normally :(
Made Katana and Enemies ! Now if your in distance enemies will shoot you and you can attack them by left clicking when you are close. Next I’m going to implement parrying!
Migrated to windows My pc was overheating on linux since my fan sensors weren’t working on linux, and now i use Direct X12 and not OpenGL 4.5 . I don’t know if i should be happy or sad.
Made Parrying you can now parry and i added a sound effect! What is so fun about making a game is that you can do anything with it like i made an enemy shoot infinity and it created this cool effect!
Yes didn’t know animations were that hard
Going to keep the basic model I find the basic model, he has mega aura so im going to keep it (and it helps with performance!)
MADE MY FIRST MODEL it may be ugly, but I MADE IT
Level 1 is now working it may be bad but i put alot of effort on this one :)
Monkey dancing Gangnam Style before GTA 6 ?? It took 1h30, was it worth it? Absolutly.
Added the music
Added buch of things Now when you parry the bullet will reverse and go where you look. Added sword swing sound effect & Started making level 2!
Deleted it all yes i said hey free 16gb on my pc and minutes later realized the big mistake…
IM BACKKKKKKKK i reinstalled windows, repasted graphics card (dropped 30°C), in the past week. Look at all this dust, no wonder why it was overheating…
Full level 2 implementation and transition between levels and heart system with vulnarability! I added a heart system with a 10s vulnability each time you get heart! The level 2 is kinda hard (even as a pro gamer) Added transition between the levels when you reach the end :)
Why the game is so ugly I CAN’T MODEL, my designing skills are soooo bad and let’s not talk about modeling….. But i still took a lot of time and effort to make an “ ok ” map, it may be ugly, but its the best i could! please don’t try to understand the storyline….
10 humans vs 1 monkey We can finally know who will win 10 humans vs 1 monkey (but the monkey doesn’t attack…) i wonder who will win!
Made Start menu is this a W menu? i worked really hard on the background. btw the quit button moves every 1.5 secondes so its harder to quit :)
ITS REALEAAAAAASED i did alot of small adjustmenets for release check it out here . Its tested for windows and linux, unfortantly i don’t own any mac devices.
Its on the web ! you can try it out here
README IS DONE i feel kinda sad but happy at the same time that its finishing..
Ships:
I made a Unity game after 3 years! I really loved relearning C# and Unity. The hardest part was designing, I HAD SO MUCH PAIN, I suck at 3D modeling and making good maps, but I went through a lot of effort and time to make an acceptable map. You can directly try the project in the web or download it for Windows/Mac/Linux in the GitHub release! You can read the Gameplay section of the README if you are lost!...

Is it bad it took me 48 minutes to come up with this?
Looks a lot more presentable now, but still need to add some more logic.
This is more like it, just need to add content to the other apps (and another function, I thought of this “Shut down” button that does window.close in JS.
I added window resizing and a music toggle. The former was just a two-line CSS patch surprisingly.
I added a meme “terminal” (not the easiest, but it was fine especially with some AI assistance). The coolest change, however, is that I added my new custom domain! It’s not HTTPS yet (thanks GitHub Pages!), but it shouldn’t matter given you don’t have to input any personal data, and I’ll add it as soon as I can.

So, today I worked on making the gameplay feel more alive and engaging. To do so I added some alerts/notifications that appear in some situations: Exclamation mark, this means that there is a bug on your vase! Click on the bug to eliminate it Harvest tool, this means the plant is ready to be harvested Watering can, this means the plant doesn’t have enough water and will die in 3 days if not taken care of Also, I added the sounds! Here is a list of all the current ones: New day, a bell will be heard to indicate the new day Unlocking a vase Removing a bug, a squish will indicate that the bug is been removed Planting, sound of dirt being moved around Harvesting, a noise that to me sounded like a scythe cutting some grass Selling, sound of a coin Watering, sound of water dropping from a can/tool Background music, two tracks looping in the background All the sounds were taken from Pixabay . Oh! And one more thing I did was reworking the information panel, so now you will be able to see the water range for each plant and the plant’s status. The status are: Healthy, everything is okay! Dead, :( the plant is now dead… nothing can be done Withering, the plant is out of water!! Act fast! Drowning, bro… you put too much water, if it’s not that much, it will fix itself in the upcoming day, but if not, the plant is doomed :( Infested, A BUG! KILL IT NOW Tomorrow I will probably add UI sounds and fully playtest the game to see what stuff needs balancing. I originally spent 2 hours trying to do this on Godot and get a prototype working, but around the 2 hours mark I got stuck when making GUI, since I was having quite some problems. Other than that I actually found the UI of Godot not my style and somewhat confusing, so I decided to switch . Last thing I added is LocalStorage so now all information, coins , days , plants , each plant status , are all saved and loaded on refresh so even if early, no data is lost. – Next thing I will is probably add the price for each plant , then I wanted to make the vases purchasable and then allow for the position of the vases to be changed. Once I feel like the main gameplay is done I will then spend time drawing all the art needed, each plant, the UI and the game space. Byeee!! :))
Devlog #3 Improvements and art??!? Hii!!! Today I implemented the last two features for a complete gameplay loop, prices for the plants, and unlockable vases. Also, i drew some art for the plants, which I kinda like for being my first time drawing, ever, also I made the view of the balcony but this is just a placeholder for reference, it will not look like this in the end. Does anyone like it? If anyone has suggestions on how to improve or what to add I am more than happy to hear them!! Byeee! :)
Devlog #4 Drawing day! Today I spend most of the time logged, drawing my background since that sketch is really really bad. So I started with drawing the floor as some stone tiles and made the railing in wood. I still need to add some colors to both, especially for shadows and minor details but for today that’s it! Also I made the day 3 minutes long and you can’t advance manually anymore. Oh and I added growth stages to the plants, so the image of the plants will change according to its growth status. If anyone read this and has suggestions on anything, the art or the logic, please share them! I am really open and always happy to hear them :) Thanks for reading! Byeee :D
Devlog #5 Title ! Sooo idk what to say anymore, it is SO DIFFICULT to draw something, and I spend a lot of time doing it but never get the perfect look I want. But for today I’ve done enough. I am still finishing the background but I made the UI a little bit better. Also I fixed some minor bugs like plants not saving the isDead status resulting in never dying plants when refreshing the page. I know that there are still some bugs, especially with images, but I will fix everything tomorrow, hopefully! Bye!!! :)
Devlog #6 Even more art ! Hii!! Today I didn’t touch my IDE and just drew some more. I spent some time doing the water tool image again and also did the harvest tool image. Then I did the background landscape! I’m quite happy for how it turned out but I may adjust it a little in the future. Also ignore the sky which I haven’t done, so for the time being it will stay light blue, but I was thinking if possible to make it a gradient to look better, and also wanted to implement a day/night cycle. But all of this will come in the future, maybe. Byeee!! :)
Devlog #7 New Art! 🥀🐞 Soo today I was planning on just doing the dead version of each plant, but I didn’t stop there! I also came up with the idea of introducing bugs. I was thinking of making that on your plants a bug could appear and you would have to remove it by clicking on it. For each day the bug stays on the plant, it will count as unhealthy and will die if not taken care of! That’s all for today, not much but all I could do Byeee!!
Devlog #8 Alerts and Sounds! 🔔🎵 Hey hey!! First of all thank you all for the support on my last devlog!! If anyone wants to test the game, this is the link , the README is empty but will be done in the upcoming days with a full description of all the events and plants. Thank you for reading this!! Byeee! :) :)
Devlog #9 More Sound! 🎵🎵 Hello!!! Once again THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE SUPPORT. The last devlogs got so many likes and some nice comments and I’m really happy to see it Today I didn’t have much time so I only were able to add some more sounds to the game, for example UI interactions like opening the menus or selecting a plant, also added sounds for all the different notifications. In the videos you can see and hear most of them! I hope I can work more in the upcoming days and deliver better features. If anyone has suggestions for new features or improvements I will be more than happy to hear then, so please comment! Byee!! :D
Devlog #10 First ship!! Hello guys!! Thank you so much for all the support shown in the previous devlogs! Today I am shipping the first version to hopefully get some feedback about the gameplay so that I can work on more features and fix any bug if they happen. Bye bye!!!
Ships:
A little gardening game built with Phaser. Plant seeds, water them to keep them healthy and watch them grow until ready to be harvested. Try to not drown or wither your plants or they will die and no profit will be made! Also look out for bugs! They will make your plant die if you don’t catch them. Features Plant, water, and harvest your flowers Each plant has its own water needs and grow time Plants can wither, drown, or die if you don't take care of them Bugs show up now and then, catch them for bonus coins Unlock more vases as you earn coins Sell your harvested flowers for some profit How to Play Open the Plant Selection panel and pick a flower to plant. Click an empty vase to plant it. Keep an eye on your plant. If it needs water, click it and hit the water button. Once it's fully grown, harvest it to add it to your inventory. Sell your harvested flowers from the Inventory panel to earn coins. Use your coins to unlock new vases and plant even more flowers....

NevAI - Discord AI Bot Hello everyone, I’ve finally finished my open-source Discord AI bot with some unique mechanics! Features Only the Discord server administrator can use /ai , /ai_settings , /language , and /logs . The bot responds using the AI models listed below. The bot supports vision models (image understanding). Responses are limited to 1500 characters. Pre-built Docker image available. Custom success and error emoji. The bot reacts with an emoji when responding in a Discord chat. The server administrator can set a custom AI prompt. Multi-language support (add your own language more info CONTRIBUTING.md)). The bot saves the last 15 messages for chat context. Live logs support ( /logs command). How to use? You can try it on my Discord server: https://discord.gg/3BqyZMQ85V Or run it locally (recommended if you plan to use it daily, since free AI APIs have rate limits). Docker (pre-built image) Create a .env file docker pull ghcr.io/nahida4479/nevai:latest docker run --env-file .env ghcr.io/nahida4479/nevai:latest AI models list Gemini gemini-2.5-flash gemini-2.5-flash-lite Groq openai/gpt-oss-120b openai/gpt-oss-20b HackClub meta-llama/llama-3.3-70b-instruct Vision models Groq qwen/qwen3.6-27b qwen/qwen3.8-27b Finally I’ve spent a lot of time on this project, so thanks for reading! Feedback, issues, and pull requests are always welcome - good luck with your own projects too!
NevAI - Discord AI Bot Hi, I re-shipped my project because I added new features. New features Exa.ai system - the bot now responds using real web data NevAI returns images found by Exa I adjusted the model so it can’t lie and actually utilizes the available data The bot can use custom Discord server emojis I added more detailed logs returned by the /logs command on Discord I added a debugging system that can be enabled by adding the entry DEBUG_MODE=true to the .env file. This writes detailed logs to debug.log Changed model qwen/qwen3-32b -> google/gemini-3-flash-preview IMPORTANT! How to use? I’ve come across comments saying you don’t know how to use the bot. There are detailed instructions in the README.md , but I’m also posting them here: Add the bot and set the AI channel using the /ai command. Mention the bot, then ask your question. You can customize the bot options using administrator commands (server administrator only, more info on GitHub). You can also run the bot locally: docker pull ghcr.io/nahida4479/nevai:latest docker run –env-file .env ghcr.io/nahida4479/nevai:latest Planned I plan to continue developing this project, so if you encounter any bugs, please report them as issues on GitHub. You can also add your own translation for the bot (see CONTRIBUTING.md on GitHub). Thanks for reading, and good luck with your projects! :)
NevAI New features New install.sh script for easy installation Editing the custom prompt on Discord ( /ai_settings ) now loads your current prompt so you can modify it, instead of overwriting it with a new one Added Watchtower for automatic updates (downloads and runs the new Docker image) Changed model gemini-3-flash-preview → GPT-6-Luna Added env-example file Updated README.md (information about install.sh , the new AI model, and how to run the Docker image manually) Planned I plan to keep developing my project by adding new features and fixing bugs. If you want to report a bug or add your language, feel free to open an issue/pull request on GitHub.
NevAI New features Added Anthropic as an AI provider Added the Claude Haiku 5.5 model Adapted the web search tool for Anthropic models Added input validation to setup_env.sh Added a “How to use” section to the /help command Added ANTHROPIC_API to env.example Added a section about Anthropic models to README.md The console now shows input and output token counts for Anthropic models Updated the AI usage disclosure Changed the permissions in the bot invitation link Important Anthropic is an optional provider (NevAI requires at least one of the AI providers listed on GitHub). The bot keeps working with free APIs alone, and Anthropic is used only if you add an ANTHROPIC_API key. How to use Many people mention in project reviews that they don’t know how to use NevAI. Detailed information can be found in the README.md on GitHub and via the /help command. Planned I plan to continue developing the project. If you would like to add your language, please read CONTRIBUTING.md on GitHub. If you find a bug, please report it via GitHub Issues. Good luck with your projects! :)...

Devlogs:
Started the super tic-tac-toe project. Wrote the first version of the game engine in train.py . There’s a Game class that tracks the 9x9 board, whose turn it is, and the status of each of the 9 sub-boards. It handles the annoying part of this game: winning a small board, checking if that wins the whole meta-board, and figuring out which sub-board the other player is forced to play in next (or opening up the whole board if that one’s already finished). Also pulled in TensorFlow/Keras imports up top since the plan is to train a DQN on it once the game logic is solid. Nothing runs as an actual game yet, just the class and its rules.
Spent a few hours trying to get a DQN to learn the game and it never really worked. Got the DQN model built and training against itself. Found a real bug early where the training math treated every move as if the same player went again next instead of the opponent, and fixed it. After that it just wouldn’t budge. Tried a handful of fixes: better reward shaping, a much faster version of the game engine so it could run way more games at once, features that pointed out immediate wins, playing against older versions of itself with separate buffers so wins didn’t get drowned out by everyday moves. Kept the DQN code in git history instead of deleting it. I have to admit, I gave up on coding and debugging this manually so I used Claude Code… Next devlog soon with the actual changes.
Rebuilt the whole training setup around Monte Carlo tree search instead of DQN, and it’s actually finding forced wins now. Wrote a real spec and plan before touching code this time. Built the game engine again first, same rules as before, no changes needed, then added the value and policy network, then layered the tree search on top, all with tests along the way. Writing the tests for the tree search caught a genuine sign bug right away. The code assumed the turn always switches after a move, but it doesn’t when a move wins the game, so the value was flipped for exactly the moves that mattered most. Also realized my own test scenario was wrong, it only completed a small board instead of the actual game. Fixed both, and the search now finds a forced win or a forced block on its own, even with a completely untrained network, since it’s real search finding the outcome, not a guess. Got self-play, training, and evaluation working, ran a short validation loop and it actually worked, loss came down and it was already beating random play early on. Scaled it up for a real run. Then the real run barely printed anything for ten minutes. Turned out it was running fine, just slow, because the tree search was calling the network one board at a time for every single simulation instead of batching them together, the exact same slowness from the DQN version, just in new code that never got the fix. Built batched search for self-play and evaluation both, checked it’s actually faster with a real timing test, and added logging that writes to a file and prints a lot more often so it’s obvious it’s alive. Kicked off a real training run right after with the fix in, that’s going now.
Got the game playable in an actual browser tab today. Moved the whole thing over from Python to a real webpage, board, AI opponent, all of it, so anyone can just open a link and play. Had a hard time getting the trained model working in the browser, but got it working and double checked it gives the same results as the original. Then spent a while making it actually feel good to play. The AI’s moves were popping in too suddenly, so I slowed that down and added a marker so you can see what it just played. Cleaned up the spacing and added a New Game button too. Deployed it, thought it looked fine, then realized it was actually still showing an old broken version because of caching. Tracked that down and fixed it, also caught one more small thing where the board looked clickable during the AI’s turn when it shouldn’t have been. You can try it at: https://raczjonathan12.github.io/super-tic-tac-toe/
Added a scoreboard to the browser game today. Now it tracks wins, losses, and draws between me and the AI, shown right above the board. It saves to local storage too, so the score sticks around even if I close the tab or hit New Game.

Getting the trained AI to run inside a browser instead of on a server was its own fight too, closer to translating it into a different language than just copying it over. If you want to try it, just open the link and play a game. There’s also a scoreboard now that keeps track of wins, losses, and draws between you and it....

Devlog #04 Finally fixed the infinity of bugs i had with dragging windows around. Now you can see in the picture that if you try to change the dimension of the window a small shade appears in 1 of the 4 corners
Devlog #05 Finally we have a big redesign inspired by macOS. I had a lot of bugs in the previous devlog but they’re all gone now (finally). I have in program to add more animations and features
Devlog #06 Planning to add new features but i am still stuck with some bugs so it won’t be uploaded to github until fixed. Now i am going forward adding even more things
Devlog #07 Added various features like a functioning browser, dnd mode, updated the bin and the most important i finally managed to make the windows snapping work with a GUI like windows 11

Finally finished the first milestone of webOs. I added so many things, hope you will like it !
I finished and polished my own WebOs, I found a lot of challenges in this path for example troubleshooting my code and fixing bug but in the end i am proud of what I’ve made
I built WebOS, a fully functional macOS-style desktop environment that runs entirely in your browser. It’s got a full window management system, a virtual file system (Finder), a Text Editor, a working Terminal, Sticky Notes, and even a built-in web browser. The craziest part of this project was engineering the logic of a whole “operating system” without any backend at all. Everything relies purely on the browser’s localStorage. For example, I wanted users to be able to upload custom wallpapers, but high-res images would immediately hit storage limits and crash the virtual disk. Getting the desktop interactions to feel actually native was another huge hurdle. I spent a lot of time fine-tuning the marquee selection tool, multi-icon drag-and-drop, and making sure that dropping files straight into a desktop folder worked seamlessly without feeling clunky. But honestly, what I’m most proud of is the underlying architecture. I managed to create and most of the new features i have implemented.

I built EcoRover, a 3 tier motorized recycling bin and food waste collector designed for food courts. The whole point of it is to wander around autonomously using an 8 sensor ultrasonic array for 360 degree obstacle avoidance, running on an Arduino and a custom differential drive setup. The bottom tier handles power and the heavy lifting, the middle tier has a Peltier cooling module acting as a built in fridge to keep food leftovers fresh so anyone in need can grab them without asking anyone (keeping their dignity completely intact), and the top tier handles trash and recycling sorting. Plus, I teamed up with VeryNile in Cairo to get a custom CNC milled recycled plastic plate made by local women on Qorsaya Island mounted right on the chassis. What was challenging? Man where do I even start? Everything from administration to pure hardware agony. First dealing with the grant and banking loops in Egypt was a total marathon that nearly drove me insane. Then came the physical building where I completely fried my first Arduino Mega because my hand slipped with the multimeter probe right between 5V and GND while testing the power distributor. I also had to adapt the whole build to whatever 3mm plywood panel sizes I could actually source locally from Amazon, which completely threw off my original CAD weight distribution. That led to a massive wobble issue at the very end because the battery was way too heavy for the narrow footprint. Balancing all of this while starting my freshman year at the Faculty of Science at Cairo University, drowning in chemistry labs and getting sick with brutal bone aching flus, and crashing 4 lectures behind schedule almost made me give up. What am I proud of? Honestly I’m just proud I didn’t quit when everything was falling apart. I taught myself how to CAD in Fusion 360 from scratch, soldered electronics, built a custom safety fuse circuit that actually saved my motor drivers from blowing up when I accidentally reversed polarity, and pushed through physical exhaustion and college stress to ship a fully functional physical robot (for someone who has 0 self control usually this is HUGEE). Also collaborating with VeryNile to incorporate real recycled plastic art made by local Egyptian women into the robot instead of just making another generic plastic toy means the world to me. What should people know so they can test my project? Since this is a physical autonomous rover built with real hardware, testing it requires a few things if you’re looking at the repo and code: The Logic board & Firmware: It runs on an Arduino Uno with a custom obstacle avoidance firmware sketch handling 8 HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensors mapped North, South, East, and West. The Power System: It uses a dual L298N driven differential steering setup powered by a heavy battery pack with an inline safety fuse and a physical master rocker switch. How to inspect it: Everything from the step files, CAD renders, wiring schematics, BOM, and firmware is fully documented in the GitHub repository. If you’re looking at the code, keep in mind I had to heavily optimize pin layouts and use multiplexing trig pin strategies to make everything fit neatly onto a standard microcontroller board without running out of GPIO pins.", "repo": "https://github.com/muhamedanber/EcoRover", "demo": ""}]...

If I had to sum up October in a single phrase, it would be “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” but tbh this final stretch of EcoRover has been abslute cinema. Chapter one: The Final Hustle Right after the last log i finally got back to work through the usual physical exhaustion. I managed to mount and wire all 8 HC-SR04s. Also remember in earlier devlogs when I bragged about my cable management? Yeah… throw that statement against the wall. It turned into an absolute disaster in the middle tier, but hey it connected I mounted the Uno, hooked up the H bridge and wired the power lines. Power was running straight to the uno, but the 5V rail decided to ghost me. I had to pause cuz college lectures were piling up fast and gpa protection takes top priority 🤡. Chapter two: ANYONE HELP! CU Eats Me Alive. Coming back home dead on my feet every single day with brutal headaches, bone aches, and a mountain of chemistry labs meant the progress hit a wall. By early October I was sitting four lectures behind with quizzes looming over my head. By Oct 10th, the rover was technically 97% complete. All the individual components were wired and functional, but they needed to be stacked. When I finally pushed through the sickness to assemble it, I hit a dead end The Wobble. The chassis footprint was simply too narrow for the height and total weight cuz i’ven’t followed the original dimensions in the CAD file i made and just used the size of plywood i got off of amazon. The heavy lithium battery pack in the middle tier was causing the entire frame to sway, and the housing kept snapping under its own weight. To fix it properly, I would’ve needed to either: Rebuild the entire frame with a wider footprint or Ditch the bottom tier completely and mount the drive wheels straight to the second tier. Both options required a lighter battery and time I physically didn’t have. So looking like a total biohazard 45 minutes before a lecture I shot a message straight to Jay on Slack: “The project is around 97% complete, but fixing this issue would take energy and time I honestly don’t have right now. Is it okay to ship in its current state?” A few days later, Jay replied that as long as it’s functional we are good to ship! Massive sigh of relief. Chapter three: While hardware was on pause my personal life went into overdrive in the best way possible. Out of 12000 students at the Faculty of Science@CU, I was nominated as one of 21 candidates for The Ideal Student Competition less than a month after enrolling! 🥳 During the interview, I had a long talk with Professor Maha Al-Khazindar (Vice Dean) and three other decorated professors. We talked about everything I’ve done over the last 6 years. They liked my background so much that Dr. Khazindar personally invited me to join the official university board to welcome an incoming high-level delegation from KoreaTech University !!!! Standing alongside the Dean and Vice Dean to welcome an international delegation as a freshman was completely surreal. Alhamdulillah for everything He constantly grants me. Chapter four: This is the END (Adele singing) On Oct 22nd, after college gave me a much needed breather I heard a distant screaming in the background… AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I FINALLY FINISHED FILMING THE VIDEO! 🎉 It might not be hollywood quality but it’s raw, real, and captures the entire chaotic journey of bringing EcoRover to life. With the repo updated, video uploaded, and the final submit button smashed… EcoRover is SHIPPED! 🥳🎉 💖 What’s Next? A massive thank u to everyone who followed this chaotic journey. Thanks stardance for giving me this crazyyy learning experince that ill remember till i die <3 For everyone reading the journal on the GitHub I love u. Until the next build, thank God for everything, and byeeeeee! 🚀✨"}, {"post_id": 74316, "ts": "2026-09-27T05:21:15Z", "hours": 9.0006, "text": "Devlog #7: Pin-Pinching Hacks, Mechanical Chaos, and Big Life Updates – From Sep 21st to Sep 26th 2026 – This past week has been an absolute blur of hardware troubleshooting, unexpected setbacks, physical injuries, and huge personal milestones. After sending Jay@Stardance a video proving the Arduino Mega was officially toast ( RIP ), I jumped straight into assembling the cooling setup with the TEC1-12706 Peltier module. That thing gets insanely hot within seconds leaving me with a nice second degree burn as a souvenir. Since I still didn’t have a new tip for my soldering iron, I wired up the main rocker switch using good old Egyptian electrician techniques, twisting the bare wires around the pins in a slightly cursed knot, followed by plenty of electrical tape and heat shrink tubing. With hardware up in the air, I spent considerable time optimizing circuit logic to minimize GPIO pins so the entire project could run on a single Arduino Uno if replacement funding fell through. Bypassing the microcontroller for components that stay on continuously (like the relay) saved digital pins immediately. By tying all eight HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor TRIG pins into a single line, the total GPIO requirement dropped down to just 13 pins, 1 shared TRIG pin + 8 individual ECHO pins 4 directional control pins for the L298N motor driver On the physical build side, I finished the insulated fridge compartment, mounted access doors, installed locking latches, and laid out the lower drive chassis. Hot glue turned out to be useless against motor torque, and the heavy lithium battery pack caused the chassis to drag, so I installed a heavy duty caster wheel underneath the frame to balance the weight. Then came the hardware headaches. The cheap 12V cooling fans turned out to be completely dead on arrival (details in the journal.md). Instead of dealing with local return hassles, I mounted them decoratively for display while keeping the working Peltier module unpowered to prevent further burns. Mid-week brought an incredible thing: I got accepted into the Faculty of Science at Cairo University! 🥳 With the Stardance deadline extended to October 31st, I took a brief breather to celebrate followed by a quick internet outage that paused video logs. so I took 2 days off Getting back to assembly, initial power tests revealed the DC motors were running way too fast. To tame the speed, I removed the jumpers on the L298N driver to enable PWM speed control, using up the absolute last 2 available GPIO pins on the Uno. I also had to rebalance the wheel alignment to expand the base area. The heavy battery was originally locking up the motors in the bottom tier, so I relocated it up to the middle tier which it’s super crowded now, but cable management kept it clean. Naturally, I managed to cut my hand on the saw again while trimming wheel clearance, but thankfully it was minor. With the chassis built and the electronics wired, the rover is practically finished. All that remains is picking up a few extra Female-Male jumper wires to mount the ultrasonic sensors on my way to college today, and EcoRover will officially be ready for initial testing. All 58 components finally arrived in one piece! Huge shoutout to the local sellers who threw in thank-you notes, a car freshener, and a random red Mike Wazowski figurine inside the box with the Arduino Mega . Unhinged, but cute. Naturally, right as everything landed, my body hit peak flu with brutal bone aches. But I pushed through to start assembly and prep the updated BOM. I had to cover a few out-of-pocket expenses for miscellaneous screws and hinges I forgot to calculate 🤦🏻. Also the only 3mm plywood I could source on Amazon that fit the budget came in ~30x50cm sheets, so I’m building this first physical prototype using the raw panels as is while keeping core frame dimensions intact. Later on, I decided to cut wood. Pro-tip: foldable handsaws are dangerous. I pressed the release button with my hand in the folding track. A quick flash of blood and a mini heart attack later, it stopped bleeding, thank God. Despite my clumsiness, I cut the middle layer outer shell, fridge frame, logic board mount, and lower latching mechanism. I blacked out from exhaustion right after and woke up to an immediate eviction notice from my grandma: zero woodworking in the living room. I relocated my entire workshop out to the balcony. It’s actually a great setup, plus I’ve made friends with the local balcony mouse who hangs out while I work. Despite the flu, I finished the chassis over 2 days, prepared doors/panels, and packed up the gear to move back inside. I started assembling electronics by wiring the main power rail. Within an hour, I completely scorched my soldering iron tip 🙃. Since tips are super cheap in Egypt, I’m replacing it out of pocket. My cousin set up a meeting with an electrician friend for a masterclass, but he wasn’t much help so I figured it out on my own. Health-wise, the flu is receding. Personal life is at peak chaos, but thank god we manage 🤡. Then came one of the most chaotic testing days yet. I built a 5V power distributor for the HC-SR04 sensors, routing power through the Arduino Mega’s internal regulator to get 5V . Multimeter read a clean 5.0V . Pure satisfaction. Then came the tragedy. While staring at my schematic to figure out the next step, I was holding the probe in my left hand. My hand drifted. The bare metal probe tip bridged the Arduino’s 5V pin and GND pin simultaneously. Faint click. Scent of burnt toast. I yanked the power cord instantly. Plugged back in, the board ran super hot. Multimeter showed the regulator blowing a raw 7V straight into the ATmega2560 chip. The brain of EcoRover was officially fried. I spent 20-30 minutes in full despair, but thank god, what happened happened. I reached out to the Stardance grant reviewer to explain the short circuit. Worst case: I’ll fall back to my personal non-original Arduino Uno and figure out a massive GPIO multiplexing hack to run all 8 sensors and drivers on fewer pins. Best case scenario: They approve a $ 20 grant top-up for a replacement Mega so I can stay on schedule before the September 30 deadline. To keep momentum, I tested the drive motors. My CAD planned for 2 L298N s, but Gemini sayed using 1 driver and wiring motors in parallel for differential steering. I wired it, flipped the switch, and… total silence. I panicked, thinking I blew the L298N driver. Swapped to my backup still zero power. I probed the main power line: 0V . Then I checked the inline safety fuse I wired earlier. The fuse wire was completely snapped! It blew the microsecond it sensed the high amp spike from my reverse polarity mistake, saving both motor drivers from getting destroyed. Seeing a safety feature you designed actually perform its job in real-time and save hardware from your own clumsiness is an unmatched feeling. But honestly, two major roadblocks popped up back to back, only for one good fate to come through and overwrite all the stress thank god. The first headache was payment processing. Future Electronics (who was supposed to be my primary supplier for the Arduino Mega and the main LiPo setup) doesn’t accept card payments. Then RAM Electronics whicj is my second biggest supplier, turned out not to accept foreign cards. Since the grant was issued as a virtual card, that meant zero local offline shops and zero local sites without online gateways. So I had to pivot entirely to uncle Amazon who is slightly more expensive for a lot of things here, so I immediately googled \"177 usd to egp\" . The conversion hit 9,158.42 EGP (which was wayyy higher than the original 8 grand budget I calculated weeks ago) i thought i’d need to cut corners but thank god the extra grand payed for the price difference! The order log is wild its 43 individual orders totaling 58 pieces, modules, and physical tools. Overall shipping added up to just under 5 bucks. Future was the only local vendor stocking the specific pack, they’re notoriously hazardous to ship/store, and finding proper balance chargers online locally was an absolute dead end. We’re swapping the primary power delivery to a safer, more accessible Lithium Ion setup. Card Only Sourcing: As mentioned, because this is an international card grant, any vendor without structured online payment processing had to be swapped out of the supply chain entirely. I’m currently in the middle of rebuilding and restructuring the entire BOM to reflect the exact Amazon components, specs, and updated unit prices. I’ll push the updated BOM file directly to the GitHub repo as soon as it’s finalized. I replaced the tiny car fuse, flipped the switch, and
Devlog #7: Pin-Pinching Hacks, Mechanical Chaos, and Big Life Updates – From Sep 21st to Sep 26th 2026 – This past week has been an absolute blur of hardware troubleshooting, unexpected setbacks, physical injuries, and huge personal milestones. (I’m too tired to put photos, so here’s red mike wazowski again
Devlog #8: The End? – From Sep 29th to Oct 27th 2026 – MAN what a month. 🚀✨

What did I make? If you’re looking at the code, keep in mind I had to heavily optimize pin layouts and use multiplexing trig pin strategies to make everything fit neatly onto a standard microcontroller board without running out of GPIO pins....
