I built a serial protocol that handles the startup handshake, LEFT/RIGHT assignment, health packets, retries, sequence/session validation, malformed frames, and local command timeouts. Early versions would still lose the link even when bytes were clearly being transmitted. This came from a combination of partial frames, serial self-echo, startup timing, and motor queries taking long enough to delay communication. I fixed these issues by improving the framing and recovery system, adding direction tags, limiting how much serial data can be processed in one loop, safely retrying packets, and prioritizing communication before slower motor checks.Motor initialization also caused problems because all of the V5 motors do not necessarily become available at exactly the same time after startup. Earlier versions would sometimes report motor disconnects or H-Bridge faults during startup. The drivetrain Brains now wait for every motor to begin returning valid health information before considering initialization complete. I also flipped the motor directions for the top and bottom of the drivetrain where needed. The controls were completed during this process. The broken throttle potentiometer was replaced with the Rotation Sensor on port 17. It now supports CENTER calibration and provides signed forward/reverse input. Current Issue I encountered one intermittent power issue during testing. The master Brain does not have its own battery and is powered through the Smart Cable connections from the two drivetrain Brains. During several tests, the master entered a white-screen state while one drivetrain Brain went completely black. The drivetrain side that shut off was not always the same.At the time, both drivetrain batteries were fairly low and were also at different charge levels, roughly 30–50%. I completely shut down the system, replaced both batteries, and restarted all three Brains. The issue stopped occurring after that, and the chair completed additional driving tests normally. My current theory is that the two independently powered drivetrain Brains may be interacting electrically through the master because the Smart Cable connections also carry power. Different battery voltages, or voltage sag while the motors were under load, may have caused a brief power transient. I have not confirmed this yet, so I am leaving the wiring unchanged while I collect more evidence. If the issue happens again, I may restructure the system so one drivetrain Brain also acts as the master, which would remove one Brain from the power-sharing arrangement. I added the bottom 2 drivetrain cortexes and connected everything to the master with smart cables. I added the batteries for them too. I figured out that the master cortex doesn’t need it’s own battery as it can be powered through the smart cables on p19-20 which connect to the drivetrain nodes. The batteries are shared across the whole system (3 cortex -> 2 lower bats powering wheels and controls + health checks). I added a small potentiometer and a gear to act as a speed controller but I have not determined exactly how I want to do that yet. I zip-tied all cables and such and tested that each one works and powers the device it connects to. All systems seem to be good in that regard. Added some bad off-center racing stripes lol and also fixed the sag on the steering wheel by adding an additional support screw. I also dusted and cleaned it because it was SO DIRTY from literally nothing. I temporarily moved it to my house so I can debug and program it at home. Bringing it back Sunday. TODO: Software & QA + Validation Master node will turn on first and wait for a connection from the two DT nodes. Then the DT nodes will recieve commands for voltages and will send back temperature and health records to ensure nothing breaks. If it gets too hot or too much tourque, it will initiate an emergency stop to ensure the saftey of the driver. Controls are TBD but it will also support a vex controller to drive it remotely. If a motor disconnects it will also shut down. This leaves plenty of room in the front for an eventual foot support, it also increases stability. Armrests were reinstalled again onto the new bar which goes across the front AND BACK. Overall, it’s just really nice being with your friends at school without going to school… Some of the middle schoolers like to stay in there during break/lunch to mess around with the parts, so I can’t lapse it during then. However, during my extra time, I am working on the chair or homework for my 4th period (pfft, I’d rather do the chair, its cool asf) To begin with the actual devlog, the chair part of the chair is a Rio 2 4-Leg Armless chair from SitOnIt Seating. It has an angled bottom with 4 screw holes – perfect for mounting something. Firstly, I dug up the old CAD files and trashed all of them starting from scratch. I took some measurements and 3D printed a new bracket for the bottom of the chair. Before, I just bent a piece of metal; but this time, i’d like to actually have something perfectly angled so it’s flat with the floor. I used Fusion 360 for all of my CAD work. In CAD, I designed a left and right armrest as well as a bar + some ziptie locations to keep everything stable (note, none of this was tracked. Moreover, I did some quick planning with ChatGPT to find an optimal drivetrain configuration. We settled on 200RPM with a 72:48T gear ratio (72T on motor, 48T on wheel) with 4 motors per side of a differential drivetrain for a total of 8. Some quick numbers: 24.8 lbf push forse and 3.57 mph, reasonable for a small vehicle but not a death kart. .. and then stardance started.. YUP! None of that work was tracked!! YIPEEE. Now, this is what I did in the 1h 28m: Afterwards, I began work on the actual construction. First I bolted on the bracket to the 3x C-Channel main bar. I then screwed it onto the chair and OOPS we need to drill some holes because my measurements were way off (screw you, old dial caliper.. or maybe I can’t read it idk). I built the left and right armrest models in real life in the PLTW room at my school. (lapsed) I then put them onto the bracket (lapsed) .. and finally, I built the motor frame for the left half of the drivetrain. I took off the steering wheel so I can fix the wobble later, I am keeping that module though but extending the bar on the seatbelt thing
Re-added steering wheel with much stronger support bars and a shallower angle with a lower placement that makes it easier to see over and more comfortable to grip. I added the battery and a license plate to a new crossbar in the back.
Working on drivetrain now I also programmed the rest of the chair with a few safety settings so nobody gets hurt!
kinda dumb but I built the drivetrain and now I realize the gear is bigger than the wheel so it won’t move oops
I got the drivetrain basically done

Devlogs:
I am new to coding and I decided that I want to learn rust and as a first sort of project made a simple 4 function calculator . It can do addition subtraction multiplication and division. I plan on adding a frontend in the future and fixing/simplifying some of the code. i am new and any feedback would be awesome :3
i successfully added and deployed a frontend for my calculator as well as redid most of the internals i will probably clean up some code and actually write a good devlog then but ive been working for like 6 hours today and am maxed out rn link to try: https://magmafishcalculatormk3.netlify.app/
I have fixed bugs and errors as well as updated poorly written code as well as updated formatting for the frontend, I also added the ability to use your previous value as your first number.
Hello i was at the Smallsat conference in Salt Lake City I worked on the calculator extensively during my travels there updating almost all aspects of the calculator significantly shrinking the code and also preventing overflow errors. however netlify ran out of refreshes and i dint realize and a glitched version of the project was showing for the ship i am traveling back today and in the airport fixed this by switching my host to github sites here is the link: https://magmafish68.github.io/calculatormk3/
I worked on this for a while in the airport and on the plane yesterday after reading my feedback on my first ship i decided to tackle a couple of things the first of which was displaying what operation you had selected that was a relatively easy fix and i solved it quickly the second was to add visual feedback of button presses which after much effort i added by using the classes! macro and stylesheets using css that took significant time to figure out. i am currently working on another bit of feedback i received which was to add the ability for both fractions and decimals to be viewed these changes are almost complete and i should be able to release them later today after testing.
i finished adding the ability to display decimals to the calculator it still stores data as a fraction but depending on your mode it will display it as either a fraction or a decimal i plan on looking into adding the ability to use your keyboard as well as reformatting and updating the readme for next update however i might end up doing something else who knows. as always if you have any recommendations, suggestions, ideas, or if you find a bug please let me know. the link to try it out is https://magmafish68.github.io/calculatormk3/ please let me know what you think :3 also side note the spinning blahaj emoji is so tuff i was going to send this and accidentaly just discovered it its so tuff i want a blahaj so badly
i added keyboard functionality to the calculator for people on computers thank you to @thestarviper for helping me chose what to next as well as to the people who recommended that on my last ship my next task is to update the readme and potentially add more buttons for the calculator as always if you have any recommendations please let me know and the link to try it is https://magmafish68.github.io/calculatormk3/
I updated the readme of my file that was the last major piece of feedback I had gotten from last ship. i also prepared it for the second ship. I am most likely going to post a full ship later tonight. as always if you have feedback please let me know and the link is https://magmafish68.github.io/calculatormk3/
I Changed the colors and made them all cutesy if u have any sugestions plsssss tell me im so boreddddd :3 https://magmafish68.github.io/calculatormk3/
I worked on updating and simplifying some of my code as well as formated everything so that it is consistent i also finnaly went back through and started adding notes so that hopefuly others can read my code as always if you ave a sugestion let me know the link is at https://magmafish68.github.io/calculatormk3/ have an awesome day everyone :3
i added the ability for the made by magmafish button to change the color of the calculator currently there is trans flag color scheme normal calculator color scheme dark mode color scheme ÆÆÆÆÆÆÆÆ color scheme as always if you ave any feedback please let me know and the link is https://magmafish68.github.io/calculatormk3/ :3
Ships:
I made a simple 4 function calculator using rust. This took me about 12 hours of total work time as I had zero experience coding beyond scratch as well as not using AI. It was a really cool experience to get to make. I learned and understand how to build both back and frontends for a program now as well as understand how the rust programing language works. to run the project just go to https://magmafishcalculatormk3.netlify.app/ it is pretty self explanatory as to how it works as its just a calculator. But overall it was an awesome experience and puts me one step closer to getting a blahaj plushie :3
I have vastly updated my calculator. I have greatly streamlined my calculations since the first ship. I also have added a lot that was asked in my reviews. a full list of changes streamlined calculation code added overflow error detection and error message added visual button press feedback added ability to view in either fractions or decimals added keyboard support for desktop updated readme I plan on following recommendations from this ship to lead into what will likely be my third and final ship. (I NEED the blahaj :3)...

Every great AI assistant starts with one challenge: it needs knowledge before it can answer questions.Today I built the document loading pipeline for ContextIQ. Instead of manually copying text into the AI, the system can now automatically read enterprise documents and prepare them for processing. This is the first step in transforming static PDFs into an intelligent knowledge base.Although it might seem simple, this stage is incredibly important. A reliable document loader ensures that the AI receives clean, structured information, laying the foundation for accurate retrieval and trustworthy responses later in the pipeline.Next up, I’ll be implementing smart chunking and embeddings so ContextIQ can understand and retrieve the most relevant information from large document collections.
One of the most important milestones of ContextIQ is now complete—the entire document ingestion pipeline is up and running! 🎉This pipeline is responsible for transforming raw enterprise documents into an AI-ready knowledge base. Every document is loaded, cleaned, intelligently chunked, converted into vector embeddings, and stored inside Qdrant, making it ready for fast and accurate semantic retrieval. With the foundation in place, ContextIQ can now efficiently understand and search through large collections of documents. The next step is building the retrieval and reasoning pipeline that will enable the AI to generate accurate, context-aware answers with source citations. The brain is officially being built. 🧠⚡
ContextIQ : RAG Agent Update: Hi everyone! I am almost done with the backend now i am moving towards the frontend. The UI is one of the most important and the very first thing a user notices. I am trying to keep the UI minimal and to the point. will give you guys another update once I finish the UI as well.
Hello Everyone, I am back with an update. So today I have completed my frontend. Now I just have to debug and test the whole app to find any bugs. Once I am finished with the testing I will try to implement some new features to make it more attractive.
devlog #6: Hi everyone, I have a good news and bad news. While doing the logging i found out that the app had too many bugs so fixing those bugs costed me alot of time. The good news is that I have decided to implement some exciting new features like FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS and FLASH CARDS in ContextIQ this will take this project to the next level. I am currently half way through in implementing these features once I implement those features I will ship this project right away.
Final Devlog: Hi everyone , I have successfully completed the project and now I am going to submit this project.

ContextIQ is a study assistant that turns any PDF textbook into something you can actually talk to. Upload a document, and the app chunks the text, embeds it using Google’s Gemini embedding model, and stores those vectors so it can pull the most relevant passages for whatever question you ask. A Groq-hosted LLM then uses that retrieved context to generate accurate, grounded answers instead of guessing from general knowledge — essentially a lightweight RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) pipeline wrapped in a simple Streamlit interface, built to make studying dense material faster and less painful....

I was able to create a stub of windows.kinect so that we could have kinect support and redirect it to Microsoft.Kinect. So far its been working well, but the point of this was to get mc 1.61 to not freeze when playing. It was a lot of repetitive work to get the idl and cpp stubs. The other issue is that mc seems to be giving me the trial version which I need to try and fix. Sonic Mania is completely playable as well which is good.
So I was able to get terraria working which was pretty easy since I just had to implement some DX11 stuff. I implemented config support so that you can change your gamertag and gamerscore as well as your controller binds and your keyboard binds via a json file.
We finally migrated to github, and I was able to get Github Actions to work. It also caches the cmake dir so that its faster for newer builds. To get Github Actions to build, I had to install windows sdk 28000 and remove the hardcoded dirs in all the CMakeLists as well as properly migrate to vcpkg.
After a while of debugging Burnout Paradise I was finally able to realise that it was looking for D3D12Device. For some reason it was looking for d3d12 device in a d3d11 dll, so I was considering redirecting it to d3d12. But after a while I just gave up.
I noticed that the Windows.Xbox.Speech.Recognition idl looked a bit odd and it used stuff from midl2 so I removed the idl and cpp files and pretty much started from scratch. It took me a while to create the idl and get guid and stuff, but setting up the cpp files and tidying it up into 5 files from 30 small file took a lot longer since I had to manually tidy the funcs and add a debugging line to each of them.
I didn’t have much to do in WD currently, so I decided to create the watchdog process for WD, since it would be needed for the new WD Launcher to pass back errors to the user. Its a pretty simple debugger type of thing for now, but Im going to try and make it a bit better and more readable.
Last Devlog So I forgot about the WinDurango proj, until recently when I saw that I hadn’t counted the last devlog. So I fixed a few things with kernelx and I cleaned up all the winrt idls and the connected storage part of WinRT.
Ships:
I helped make WinDurango with @Rodrigo_Todescatto2010 and @dexrn . Unfortunatly, Im not able to work on WinDurango anymore, because I switched to MacOS so Im going to have to ship it now. If I do get a windows computer later on, I will continue this project. I mainly did WinRT stuff and got a few games working in WD. Currently, the only version of Minecraft LCE that works is 1.2.0.0. You will need a dumped Xbox One game to test it out.
I helped make WinDurango with @Rodrigo_Todescatto2010 and @dexrn . I have to ship again since I forgot abt the 4h that I hadn’t devloged....
