Devlogs:
Progress up until now So I’ve been working on a custom CPU for about a month over the summer. I’ve spent about 3 hours everyday working on researching and designing it. I have just uploaded the project to Stardance so I don’t have any devlogs yet. I also haven’t started much coding until recently so I don’t have much time spent. I’ll make a couple more devlogs about the design process until now.
Beforehand Progress This is my progress before uploading this to Stardance. Researched CPU design using Nand2Tetris and Google Planned out CPU using Nand2Tetris style HDL language Built CPU parts according to original specification in Logisim-Evolution Updated CPU part to be more efficient, changed them significantly from the default versions. Built main CPU circuit Tested, debugged, made changes, repeat. P.S. This is very simplified. This took me a month of continues work for hours a day that were not logged unfortunately :( Thanks for reading!!
Fixed a big problem! -and other good news I have spent so long trying to figure out why my CPU stops every time I try to increment my PC (Program Counter) by 1 to go to the next instruction. I finally decided today to sit down and have a full session just trying to fix that. With the help of ChatGPT to learn some Logisim ROM quirks, I was able to figure it out. Turns out I only needed to allow misaligned addresses in ROM settings. Some more good news: The new ALU design is working smoother than expected, I think this will be my first and final redesign of it. The new compiler is ready! It now uses the new instruction set.
Built an emulator! I just finished building a simple emulator for the BOLT-16. The reason I did this was because I needed an easy way for someone to try out the CPU without having to download Logisim. Now all you have to do is write your code in the assembly folder and run emulator.cpp to see the values of the CPU RAM! Next time I plan to build a website that you can test out the CPU with the emulator running in the background.
Some big and small changes I’m just going to list these out: Changed emulator an compiler into two pass systems (first pass reads labels, second pass is normal) and altered them to be able to jump to labels appearing before the jmp command. Replaces swp with sb (store byte), which stores a byte directly to RAM Added a new command clear, which clears the value stored in a register.
Emulator website finished! I’ve just finished with the emulator website. It’s really simple with not much graphical design, but it works well so I’m happy. I had to convert the CPP code into JS using AI because I started and it deleted my progress and it would have taken too much time for a simple but tedious task. You can try it out at the demo link! I’m going to ship now thanks for reading!
One final change I said there wouldn’t be any more devlogs but this is the last one I promise. There was a little problem in my jump logic in the CPU, so I had to tweak the compiler a bit, but that I had to completely rewrite the compiler in the style of the emulator so I could make the changes easily.
Worked on feedback! Thanks for the feedback! I worked on some of it like a thoughtful comment which pointed out a little bug in my label storage and jump code. (I stored labels with $ but looked them up without $ ). This also led me to finding out another bug where my code didn’t actually start at label $start. That was a 5-second fix. I also worked on the README.md after recieving feedback about it. I plan to work on some more feedback later (specifically updating my website UI). I thought it was fine because I have barely any experience with JS/HTML/CSS, but there’s no excuse for bad UI. PS - I also added comment functionality to my Assembly
Updated UI I made the UI look a lot cleaner in my opinion, it could still look better, but this is the best I can do. Write your feedback in the comments!
Added a screen I added a screen component to my project because I wanted a way to see the CPU in action without looking at the vague data memory. I still have to test it and integrate it into my assembly language and compiler.
Added screen and drawing to emulator I added a screen component to the emulator and allowed drawing to it. I also added an example code that draws a rectangle and square. I still have to test it for Logisim, I added it to the compiler but I know something is going to go wrong and I don’t want to debug for hours today.
Finished screen! I finally finsished making the screen compnent. It finally works in logisim now. Turns out the problem was my compiler bc it wasn’t compiling the RGB correctly, there were also a few small issues in the circuit.

I made a custom CPU from scratch in a logic simulator along with an emulator and a compiled assembly language to go with it. This was my most challenging project by far. It required a lot of research and background knowledge along with patience. I’m really proud of what it ended up as and I’m really happy seeing my months of hard work turn into something presentable and enjoyable. Through this project, I learned a lot more about boolean algebra, logic gates, computer processes and components, and assembly languages. You can try out my project too at the demo link both in the project info and on my Github repo.
New and improved BOLT-16 CPU I made a custom CPU, emulator, compiler, and assembly language. Challenges The hardest part was making sure all of the systems work together. This includes the clock timings and wiring. What I’m proud of I’m really proud of completing such a big and ambitious project. It took a lot of work (the hours are not correct bc I started logging really late). What’s new I added a new screen component and the ability to draw things on that screen. This took a lot of time....

There are a few built-in tools ready to use, including a Terminal, Notes, Calculator, and a Browser. The main catch with the Browser app is that big sites like Google and Bing block themselves from loading inside an iframe. To make sure it didn’t just open a blank box, it’s set up to load Wikipedia, which actually allows embedding. The window manager is clean and works smoothly. You can drag, resize, minimize, and swap between a few different windows without any glitches or lag. I added multiple apps including a Terminal, Notes, Calculator, Browser and Settings, plus four themes you can switch between. There are keyboard shortcuts, a Konami Code easter egg and even draggable desktop icons to make it feel more like a real OS. The main challenge was definitely the browser app. Most major sites like Google, Yahoo and Bing block embedding inside an iframe, so they refused to load in the little browser window. I had to work around that by using sites that actually allow iframe embedding, like Wikipedia. Once I figured out how iframe permissions work, the browser became a proper working app instead of just a blank box. I’m proud of how smooth the window system feels. Dragging, resizing, minimising and switching between windows all works without any weird glitches. The theme system also turned out nicer than I expected, and the whole OS stays lightweight and fast even with multiple windows open. To test StellarOS, just download the folder, move it somewhere safe, open index.html and start clicking around. The window manager does most of the heavy lifting, handling movement, resizing and keeping the active window on top. The app manager just launches whatever you click, whether it’s an icon or something from the start menu. Themes were fun to add too, and switching between Light, Dark, Starry Night and Sunset feels surprisingly smooth. Each app has its own little personality. The Terminal has basic commands and a tiny secret message. Notes is just a simple textarea for quick writing. The Calculator handles basic maths without any drama. The Browser loads pages through an iframe, and Settings lets you switch themes. I also added keyboard shortcuts because it makes the whole thing feel more like a real OS, and the Konami Code easter egg is just there for fun. Testing it is pretty straightforward. Since my ship was told it used too much AI, i essentially deleted the CSS rewrote the CSS myself.

StellarOS is my web‑based desktop environment built with plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript. It has draggable windows, a start menu, a taskbar, built‑in apps and a full theme system. Everything runs client‑side, so it loads instantly and feels like a mini operating system inside the browser. Double‑click icons to open apps, use the Start menu to launch things, drag windows around and try switching themes.
I got an email saying I need to ship this, so lets! :) SO basically StellarOS is a simple web-based desktop built with plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It runs completely in your browser, so it loads instantly. It comes with standard features like draggable windows, a start menu, a taskbar with a clock, and some basic desktop icons. To check it out, just download the folder, open index.html in your browser, and play around with it. You can also set it as your homepage if you want it to pop up whenever you open a new tab....

Devlogs:
My first proyect Hey everyone, I just started with Stardance and I’m working on WebOS 1, but when I open a codespace, my work isn’t being saved to the GitHub repository. I need help figuring this out; I’m new to this. Does anyone know how to do it or have a guide? Any help is appreciated.
Learned how to use VS and git push git add…
The web starts to look better i understant better the easy things
It’s almost ready after more than two hours.
I was happy because this is my first time but i saw others and i felt humiliated
Added a calc and a chronometer
Ships:
I made a “OS” that have 3 basic functions hour chronometer and calculator you can close the bottom bar. The difficult thing is the fact that i don’t have that much time on VS. I had help from Gemini on things like the chronometer and on the calculator. Thanks for your time....

You can now set NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day as your new tab wallpaper! The onFocusing Sessions, Devlog 1: Humble Beginnings welcome to the development of onFocus, a new tab page that helps you keep your mind where your work is, instead of on the distractions killing our chances of becoming responsible human beings. you’ll be able to set a focus session, run a timer against it, and get weekly reports on where your time actually went. The onFocusing Sessions, Devlog 2: Graphicssss most of the work on onFocus today went to creating its graphical identity: logos, wordmarks, etcc! Took time to settle on colors and designs, but ended with something I feel very happy with! Its logo icon features a crescent moon with a star, to represent focus and late-night work sessions. The color palette chosen gives it a “minty clean” feeling, just like our (planned) UI! main issue today involved the fact that I used live text on the wordmark when designing it in Affinity, so when exported to SVG, if the host device didn’t have the custom font, it would look horrible in a fallback sans-serif, and thats putting it lightly. The onFocusing Sessions, Devlog 3: onFocus invades your browser, muehehe guysss, finally, tangible progress has been made! with the addition of the Manifest V3, alongside other configs, onFocus can now be installed as an extension on Chromium-based browsers in extension developer mode and take over your (allegedly) very bloated and time-consuming new tab! For our fellow non-Chromium browser users, you may set the live demo link as your homepage, cuz custom extension installs are just temporary (one browser restart and they be gone) and for the possibility of permanent installs i would have to get it signed, and that would take too long… the codebase is still one for both the extension and website, with a small storage layer that quietly uses chrome.storage inside the extension and localStorage on the web. with this update, a semi-functional UI has also been added to onFocus. The onFocusing Sessions, Devlog 4: ITS ALIVEEE sooo slight detour… I delayed the NASA APOD thingy to prioritize getting onFocus’s main features up and running. because why if no focus features, why focus shaped? so yea! now it’s an actually useable new tab replacement for your current one! the focus features have been added. this includes your task/focus creator, pomodoro timer, and focus history. your very important and essential search bar has also been added, with duckygo as the default search engine. expect a custom search engine selector in a future update! isnt it so fun when you are falling asleep while programming and you make a typo and dont realize you did until oh wow why is my code not working?? yea i find that EXTREMELY funn… next up for tomorrow’s me to deal with: i’m finally getting the NASA APOD wallpaper setting up and running. once that’s done, imma ship this thing’s first release. but that wont be the end, imma ship again afterwards with more features!!
The onFocusing Sessions, Devlog 5: Houston, we have focused! You can now set NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day as your new tab wallpaper! With this update, a new settings menu has also been added, where you can change between the NASA APOD or onFocus’s default wallpaper; Aurora Blobs. due to the randomized nature of the NASA APOD, this can create problems with the visibility of on-screen texts and images, cuz some pictures may be brighter or darker than others. thats why, when in NASA APOD wallpaper mode, a dimming config will appear in settings, allowing you to get the image to look just right in relation to the other on-screen elements. The onFocusing Sessions, Devlog 6: Updates While-U-Wait although my first ship is still under review, this doesn’t stop me to continue working on features for the next ship! these aren’t available in the repo just yet, but they will be as soon as the ship gets reviewed! i’ve added two new features and fixed a bug. before, if you refreshed the page, whatever you wrote into the focus intent didnt get saved and cached if you didnt start the focus session. now, it gets saved, no matter if the focus session has been started or nah. as for features, you can now delete focus sessions from history, in case they got accidentally started or the intent wasn’t written correctly. if you accidentally delete one, you can undo your delete as long as you dont leave the history menu. if you delete and leave the menu, its gone forever. also, weather has been added (uses Open-Meteo)! you may now search for your location or use the “use my location” button to find it automatically, and get weather info (will appear in the top left corner once set)! soo cool! this will be the last update until the first ship gets reviewed. once it comes back from that, this update will be available in the repo, and i’ll start working on a few more for the second ship!
quick devlog 6.5! the features and changes mentioned in devlog 6 are now available! since the ship review came back needing a few changes, i figured i should just bundle them in the re-ship.
Devlog 7: are you blind? they are clearly different! its a UI refresh! like chrome in 2023, the onFocus UI has been updated! i rewrote the whole css stylesheet and brought some changes along the way! buttons are now minty! the weather icon is now also filled with minty color, not just an outline as before. rounded corners in bars have also been amplified. the onFocus logo has been moved to the top of all the center elements. most importantly, i realized that previously, onFocus used to be quite resource wasteful with some visuals (like the moving aurora blobs). all these unnecessary stuff have been removed, and now onFocus doesnt consume as much system resources as before.

this is an interactive web app built with html, css and javascript the moment you attempt to click it the button, javascript tracks your cursor location and glides it smoothly to the opposite side of your screen, making it impossible to catch.
so i am making a button that escapes from your cursor when trying to click it i added things like i made the button change color every time someone hovers over it trying to click the button and i added dodge counter to count how many times it have dodged you and one more thing i have letter changing i mean when you try to click it and dodges you it says like too slow, nice try…etc.
I was working on my runaway panic button today! Added a multi-level boss mode where players can choose from 4 difficulty levels(shy, panicked, hyperactive, and impossible). Ran into few JavaScript bugs while setting up the movement logic and button Scaling, so i will be finishing up debugging tomorrow!🛠️
finished fixing UI bug and added a live click counter! Now the game tracks every time a player actually manages to land a hit on the runaway button. On the first click, the display updates to “clicks: 1” in real time and triggers the “YOU WON!” screen. tested it using keyboard controls to make sure the event listener fires smoothly!
I worked on building and finishing “The Runaway Panic Button”, an interactive arcade web game using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. What I built and updated: • Runaway Mechanics: Programmed the target button to calculate screen boundaries and dodge away whenever hovered or touched. • UI & Layout: Compacted the top dashboard arena box and positioned the “Challenge a Friend” button in the bottom-right corner. • Rank Progression: Tied player ranks strictly to successful Clicks (Snail Reflexes -> Coffee Jitters -> Lightning Fingers -> Touch Grass Please ). • Spacebar Freeze Power: Added a hidden cheat counter that reveals when pressing Spacebar, freezing the button for 4 seconds so players can spam-click it. • Decoy Clone Hazards: Spawned fake red decoy buttons after 20+ dodges that reset player Clicks to 0 if misclicked. • Speech & Audio: Added Web Speech API synthesis for real-time voice taunts and victory announcements.
Ships:
🚀THE RUNAWAY PANIC BUTTON (shy button arcade) —————————————————– ⚠WARING: this button does NOT want to be clicked. -what is it: it is a game where you try to click a button that will go of you or dodge you when you are near it. 🎮 PLAY NOW & LEAVE A VOTE: Try to hit the red button as many times as you can while it teleports from your mouse.beat 20 clicks if you can! ✨FEATURES YOU MUST TEST: decoy clones: at 20+ dodges, fake decoy button spawn.click on, and your score resets to 0! -4 rank levels: they are total 4 level . -live vocie taunts: -real-time audio feedback powered by web speech API. WHAT i learn -this was my first project me coding i used Html and some java script and css i it was pain full i did not expeat to be this hard and full of bugs like one time it crashed because i used y=>Y an one time because because i did not added “’ the it crashed full.but i fun debugging it and learning i wish you good time trying to click it. kbboy, thanks for every thin...

Created some settings for the app registry and manager to enable apps, add functions and easily create icons etc. Also added some text to the welcome screen. Removed the fandom wiki and web novel embed because GitHub pages wasn’t happy with it 💀💀
May have cooked. Found a smoke effect online and decided to use it for the boot screen. Also made a prototype for a “Find Betty” game that just needs polish. Cooking so hard frfr
I spent Sooooooooo long trying to sync the audio with the heartbeat manually and in the end found a css generator that did most of it for me 💀
Adding saved data and achievements 👀 Taking me ages as idk how to do this lmao.
Added a few smaller things such as actual achievements over test ones

Something reviewers should note is that the Two-Way Mismatch algorithm is completely broken and unusable, which I did try to fix but I wasn’t able to. I added it more to show off the right column of the UI updating to show new parameters. If you can make it actually stable and usable via changing the parameters (which I don’t think is the issue, but maybe?), please open a GitHub Issue and I’ll look into it. Something challenging was working with some of the tooling around Rust, especially the compilation because that is not something I was used to. I am proud of how it ended up, with a very clean UI if I do say so myself, and with (most of) it working exactly as I want. In the future, I would like fix the issues with the TWM algorithm, add a GUI (using Tauri), and mostly just incorporate this knowledge into future bigger and better projects!", "repo": "https://github.com/EclipseShadow55/RustLocalPitch", "demo": "https://github.com/EclipseShadow55/RustLocalPitch/releases/tag/v0.1.0-alpha"}]...

Devlogs:
Backend Processing Loop - read & process inbox (process audio chunks & respond with frequency frames, process & confirm parameter updates, respond to metadata requests, and shutdown) Backend Thread Starter Method CLI Main Loop - read & process inbox (process new frequency frames, process parameter update confirmations, process shutdown confirmations), update TUI with new note, read & process keypresses (temporary hotkeys for testing) (I wasn’t planning on submitting this to Stardance, so I’ve done a lot of work on it. Future devlogs will be smaller)
Added base parameters (min frequency, max frequency, noise filter, detection mode) to the TUI, also increased size of the main pitch display.
Added detection parameters to the UI (changes with detection mode), and implemented Two-Way Mismatch detection algorithm (parameters not implemented yet). Also finally remembered to commit to the git repo (oops).
Created Smart Parameters and UI for Two-Way Mismatch. Added a volume meter, shows green when audio is past volume filter.
Added navigating and selecting items and shifting selected parameters Fixed bug in CyclicParam that caused subtractions past bounds, breaking unsigned types if the lower bound was zero Added Tooltips with info about selected item (descriptions to come) Note: Two-way mismatch, appears to be highly unstable and generally incorrect (one semitone above actual), tried debugging but no success.
Switched ‘R’ key to reset currently selected parameter, Added ‘P’ key to reset all parameters, Switch hide cursor key from Space to Backspace Added Tooltip Descriptions for every selectable item Completed documentation for this release. Compiled release versions using cross and cargo-make.

Well, it’s, kind of, sort of, maybe, complete now! I have a lot of things I want to add, but I don’t know if the motivation will keep up for that long lol. I started this project as just a way to learn Rust by doing, and it turned into a project that I am really happy with! In the future, I would like fix the issues with the TWM algorithm, add a GUI (using Tauri), and mostly just incorporate this knowledge into future bigger and better projects!...

It took way too long to figure out why scrolling content wasn’t working, since I wanted it to be able to scroll if a window was really small. But, that was really only one of the problems. A Rabbit and Steel themed WebOS? You should steel yourself NOW! Rabbit and Steel has been one of my favorite games to play, especially with friends. So I thought, if I were to make a WebOS for Stardance, I wouldn’t try to make one that would be useful in every single sector possible, but something that I would just have fun with. So I landed with a Rabbit and Steel themed idea. Right now, all I’ve made is the landing window, topbar, and a background, loosely based on the white border and dark transparent background used in the Rabbit and Steel UI. Obviously, the next course of action is following through on the guide, but then I will try to add more Rabbit and Steel themed features later. Anyways, you should play Rabbit and Steel.
Devlog #2 I did some polishing and made a new app. I decided not to make a notes app as the guide directs, because I felt it to be unfitting. So, I instead made an embedded wiki (although I hate Fandom, Miraheze will not load).
Devlog #3 Added a settings page, albeit very barebones at the moment. This allows you to change the backgrounds; matching with game area backgrounds in Rabbit and Steel. There are two settings for window blur and drop shadow. I also spent (a lot of) time trying to add transitions but I honestly still have no clue how to use them properly. I’ll add more backgrounds to select later, but I want to make some other app.
Devlog #4 Added a music player. This music player just uses the Spotify preview embed of a playlist containing the full Rabbit and Steel OST, which I thought was preferable than importing all the sound files. It took me some time to figure out how to make the image animated, as it was a spritesheet taken directly from the game, but I think it adds a lot more to the music player. In future apps, I definitely want to add more animated assets. I have also expanded the settings page to include all backgrounds in Rabbit and Steel, and I have utilized local storage to save the settings and the background for future visits.
Devlog #5 Added a timer app. This took a bit of time to figure out in terms of functionality. But I was far more frustrated with trying to position Twili (the crow) and the rings in the center. Like the music player rabbits, this is animated as well, and the rings rotate. I also added sound effects from Rabbit and Steel for the timer being started and when it goes off, since what good does a timer do if it doesn’t notify you audibly?
Devlog #6 Well, now I move onto WebOS 2. I made the windows resizable! It took way too long to figure out why scrolling content wasn’t working, since I wanted it to be able to scroll if a window was really small. But, that was really only one of the problems. After figuring that out, I still needed to readjust the apps and the other content, such as the music room animation or the timer crow. The best option I could think of? Don’t even deal with it (for now). So for the time being, the animations are gone. I also made the app icons animated with basic CSS animations, and I think it just adds a nice touch to it.
Devlog #7 I made a simple start-up screen, but I spent an hour fighting image scaling and general dimension quirks until I (mostly) figured it out. I used a simple fade-in from black paired with a fading blur effect to try and recreate the intro to Rabbit and Steel, along with using a cut version of the intro OST. (except I forgot browsers block autoplaying audio)
Ships:
I created a Rabbit and Steel themed WebOS, following the WebOS-1 tutorial to begin with it. This WebOS features a timer, a music player, an embedded Fandom Wiki link, and settings the OS remembers. Making this with genuinely almost no prior HTML, CSS, and JS experience took some time, but I got the hang of it, even if I feel like some of this is done incredibly inefficiently or could be done better. If anything, the prospect of refactoring later for future expansion is what scares me. In the end, I am still happy with how it turned out, especially with adding some animated images....

Today, I finally decided to fix some bugs and add a few new features! So when I had this hosted on vercel, if you tried to copy the link and share it, it wouldn’t work, but I fixed that. I also simplified said link. Lastly, I added a share button to each file’s page and started on a new list feature (where the ‘Save to Placeholder’ is). I’ll start on that tomorrow but It probably won’t be done because it’s more complicated.
So far today, I reworked the tag filters and added a more page. While playing around with the tags, I realized they suck so I had to rework the logic around that. I also moved the Contacts link into the more page. The navbar won’t have enough space for everything I want to add so I just created the more page. So for, contact and random file work but recently viewed and your lists will probably be done tomorrow. I will still work on it today but they are more complicated features.
Today, I couldn’t do much because it’s late, I had a soccer game, and I’m tired, so I spent a little time fixing some minor bugs and started work on the Home Page. The styling might be done tomorrow but I’m not sure, I also have a game tomorrow.
Today I had a game so I couldn’t work on much. I did finish up the recently viewed on the home page though. Tomorrow, I will work on adding the the recently viewed page itself.
Today, I finished up the recently viewed page. It now shows it inside a dedicated page and you can clear it. I will probably start on the lists today but I won’t finish them today for sure. That is the last thing I need to add before I finish.
Today was a great day for the beta files! I finally decided to work on this feature. This feature was supposed to be long and tedious but it’s about average in both. After I finish this, I’ll finally be done with the Beta Files! I love this project but it’s kinda sad to finish with it. That will be Saturday though because I have a game tomorrow and SBR is coming out so I won’t have much time to finish it. I should most definitely be done by Saturday though unless some unexpected bugs occur.
Today, I worked on the indivisual list page for each item. You can edit the name and description here. You can also delete it. Tomorrow, I’m planning on finishing it by making it so you can add to the list via the item page.
Today is the day! I have FINALLY finished this! I’ve added lists and I don’t think there are any bugs. To use use lists, create one, go to the file you want to add to the list, and then save to list right next to the share button and save.
