It has 10 keyswitches and two rotary encoders. There is a PCF8574AT module (Input/Output pin expander), a top-mounted case, and two layers of keycodes. Challenges Making the macropad was super challenging, since each step of the way required deep research and analysis. It was my first time making something hardware related, so I had no idea how any of the software tools worked or how all the hardware would integrate together. I find it funny now that I spent hours trying to figure out which pin on the microchip I should put my keyswitch matrix wires on (the answer is any one of them!). And that was just the beginning. When making CAD models in Autodesk Fusion, I had to learn how sketches and extrusion work from square one. I looked at so many sources just to confirm my dimensions were correct. After I started making my hackpad in real life, I realized I had done so much wrong. The cable wouldn’t fit, and none of the keys worked! After 3 days of nonstop research, I decided to ask AI for help. First, I checked if my files were in the right spot. Then, I used a multimeter to check if electricity was flowing through the board. I ended up deciding to order pull-up resistors, which did the job by pulling the SDA and SCL lines to 3.3V when idle, making the communication system between the chips work. Additionally, to make a PCF8574AT Scanner work, I had to write TONS of code. Navigating through the challenges was difficult, but each one taught me something that brought me closer towards success. Success When I was holding the pull-up resistors in place and the terminal printed “0x38”, I knew I was onto something. I uploaded the code and watched my screen in shock as I clicked the keys and saw the correct outputs. I was shocked that I was not far from a triumph, one that I had longed for over almost three months, and after soldering the pull-up resistors in place, everything worked flawlessly! I am proud of myself for having the grit and determination to, in the first place, accept the challenge of making a macropad. I stayed up long nights debugging software and hardware issues, but it was all worth it. Along the way, I learned many foundational skills in mechanical engineering and firmware coding. Creativity and Technicality I have added a lot of tools to make this project easy to demo and make, while also including some touches of creativity to make the project more personal. On my slideshow , you can see and interact with all of the individual parts. There is a video to show all of the features of the macropad. On the plate next to the keyswitches, I have added a logo I created with my name on it. Instead of choosing the common sandwich keyboard case, I chose a top-mounted keyboard case to make the keys loud and firm. I took on the challenge to include an I/O expander, even though not many people in the hackpad slack page knew about it. If you want to make the macropad, I have a guide . You must know how to solder to create it. Make sure you double check everything you do, as one small mistake can have a tremendous impact. In the end, you’ll have a beautiful macropad. Devlogs:
Devlog 1 Just finished planning the outline of my portfolio and uploaded my Photoshop and Illustrator works. I created an HTML file for each page I need and figured out the general color scheme I’m going for. (I will add CSS later)
Devlog 2 I added my artist statements (which I saved in a Google Docs a while ago) for each work from Photoshop and Illustrator (I also added my Illustrator works). I imported a couple of fonts from Google Fonts and finally adjusted the sizing of the images and text. I also began brainstorming the logistics for the functionality.
Devlog 3 Accomplishments Made the navigation bar horizontal Brainstormed a new idea for the layout of the Photoshop page (it will look like the Photoshop interface) Started the layout for the ibisPaint X page Created the general layout for the home page (shown below) (the images for the icons are placeholders) Began to add functionality to the home page (WIP) To-do Arrange layout for the Photoshop page Figure out how to change the content on click Style navigation bar
Devlog 4 Fixed bug with the Filtered Money project images (shown below) Added side bar to the Photoshop page
Devlog 5 Accomplishments Added links to the other HTML files on the icons Added functionality to the buttons!! When a button is pressed, the images/links will shift (I struggled so much getting the images to rotate in the correct order…) To-Do I would like to add animations/transitions to the bottom navbar Style top navbar Finish the layout for the Photoshop page
Devlog 6 Accomplishments I started to design the layout for the Photoshop page (which admittedly does not resemble Photoshop…) I separated the images such that they don’t appear on the page all at once Added functionality to the “next” button to go through the images To-Do Fix the background and adjust the dimensions of the images Add functionality to the “artist statement” to display the text that I had before Make the interface better resemble Photoshop </3
Devlog 7 Accomplishments FINALLY changed the text of the navbar lol Added text to the icons on the homepage so users know what they represent Styled the Photoshop layout more Reincorporated the artist statements for the Photoshop page using modals Added functionality so that the modals show when “artist statement” is clicked and they will change alongside the art when “next” or “previous” are clicked To-Do I want to add more character to my pages, perhaps through more color Add a “close” button at the top of the modal Place the side navbar elements at the bottom of the container Some images appear really small, so I need to alter their size
Devlog 8 Accomplishments Home page Styled the buttons and added more color Created an overview section of all my art Photoshop page Added more color to the background/elements Styled the side navbar Fixed the formatting issue with some of the images Added functionality to the “art” button so that it displays the art/closes the modal To-Do Start working on the layout for the ibisPaint X works Locate, download, and upload all my ibisPaint art to my computer I want each artwork on the “overview” section to link to the full-sized artwork
Devlog 9 Accomplishments ibisPaint X page Uploaded all of my ibisPaint artworks onto my computer The “next” button is able to traverse all the artworks I was able to add a page flip animation (though it only works for the first page…) I learned a lot about transformations! To-Do In order to execute the home screen plan (from Devlog 8), I have to merge all my internal Javascript code into an external sheet… lots of refactoring to be done Apply the flip animation to all pages
Devlog 10 Accomplishments ibisPaint X page Finally figured out how to apply the animations to all the pages (I had to increment the degrees by 180 every time the button is clicked) Likewise, I was able to make the containers rotate counterclockwise to go to the previous page To-Do Style the page, maybe add a background image that looks like a sketchbook I want to add a little sticky note button that opens up the artist statements
Devlog 11 Accomplishments Created a GitHub repo for my project (totally forgot to do that before) and I finally understand how to use GitHub!! Added alt text to all my artworks on the Home page Added a notebook background and tabs for the “previous” and “next” buttons To-Do Find a better quality image of a notebook (at this point I might as well draw one myself) Add alt text to the images on the Photoshop and ibisPaint X pages, where the image source is constantly changing Add more flair to the ibisPaint X page
Devlog 12 Accomplishments Illustrator page Created the layout (which basically mirrors the Photoshop page layout) I had to put all the internal JS and CSS code used for the Photoshop page into external files (and correct them accordingly) so they can be used for Photoshop and Illustrator Videos page Uploaded my videos onto YouTube and embedded them onto the page Enabled autoplay and mute for all the videos To-Do I want to add a scrolling slideshow effect onto the videos page (also maybe make the videos loop) I have an idea to merge the upper half of the home page with the other pages to make it look nicer (which might require me to merge my JS code…)
Devlog 13 Accomplishments Home page Created a modal container to view the full images on the home page Added functions that open the modal and switch to the previous/next image Other Added a transition on the navbar such that it turns dark(ish) green on hover To-Do Need to figure out if there’s an optimized way to add the openModal() function on all the images without manually adding the onclick=”” function to every < img > tag…. Also need to figure out how to close the modal by clicking outside the image without impacting how the buttons work Change the layout of the buttons
Devlog 14 Accomplishments Photoshop and Illustrator pages Received some feedback and added two features to these pages: Tools icons on the left (no, they sadly have no function) Color picker (also has no function, but that might be an add-on later) Home page Added the “openModal()” function to all the images (yes, it was a manual process) Formatted the buttons Added a “close” icon
Devlog 15 Mainly worked on cleaning up my code a bit Accomplishments Added title tags to each page (don’t know how I forgot them before) Replaced var with const (JavaScript); I finally understand why it’s better to not use var anymore Adjusted the font weight of the home page navbar To-Do Find a font that looks nice when it’s in caps log Replace the current navbar with the home page nav bar (it looks much nicer IMO) Write a real “about me” bio
Devlog 16 Accomplishments Created polaroids of some of my favorite art to add to the background of my website (will format later) Combined the header from the home page with the ibisPaint page (though I’m coming across an error when I try to do the same with the Illustrator page) To-Do Fix bugs with Illustrator page Find a way to navigate back to the home page from the other pages (because I’ll eventually remove the navbar) Format the polaroids and have them shake on hover
Devlog 17 Accomplishments Styled polaroid images and made them increase in opacity on hover Added camera and film images to make the Videos page nicer and more video-like
Devlog 18 (woah it’s been a while since i last made a devlog… but i’ve been slowly working on this project bit by bit this past week) Hopefully this is my last devlog before shipping! Accomplishments Added the navbar header to all the pages (and fixed a bunch of bugs associated with this change) Created a scrapbook-esque background to make my website more lively Got rid of the original horizontal navbar from the ibisPaint and Videos pages Added a home button on all the pages Added an auto-scroll effect so that when you click on a page, it’ll scroll to the main content To-Do For some reason, my website won’t deploy on GitHub… so I definitely need to figure that out
Devlog 19 So after testing the website out on my phone, I realized that I needed to format it for mobile devices because it turned out mega wonky (see image below), which means no shipping yet! Accomplishments Removed elements that wouldn’t be effective on mobile (e.g. navbars) Added dropdown menu on the top left of all pages Adjusted text size as necessary Adjusted size of images Added vertical scroll bars to modals and horizontal scroll bar to the Videos page To-Do After making these changes, I tested my website on my phone and saw that many elements were not displaying correctly, so I am working on debugging that
Devlog 20 FINAL devlog for real this time! I mainly worked on updating my README file and fixed bugs related to the mobile devices (I ended up scrapping a couple of features to address this issue)

I built a responsive weather website where users can search for a city and see its current weather, temperature, humidity, wind, pressure, hourly forecast and upcoming forecast. I also redesigned the whole interface and added smoother animations, transitions, weather visuals and a better way to explore different cities. What was challenging? The hardest part was getting all the different weather information to work together without making the interface confusing. Handling API responses, loading states, invalid searches and different screen sizes took more time than I expected. I also had to keep adjusting the animations because some of them looked good individually but felt too much when everything was running together. What i am proud of? I am most proud of the redesign because it started from a rough paper sketch and slowly became an actual working website. I also like that I didn’t just focus on making it look good — I spent time fixing the small interactions and making the weather data actually useful. What should people know? I am also checking the search area, weather information and forecast cards because these are the sections that can become difficult to use on a small screen."}, {"post_id": 60851, "ts": "2026-09-03T14:07:08Z", "hours": 4.3489, "text": "After finishing the basic error handling, I started working on how the website visually represents different weather conditions. I noticed that showing only the temperature and text does not give the user much feeling about what the weather is actually like. So I started connecting the weather conditions with the correct icons and visual elements. to redesign my weather website because the old design was working, but I was not fully happy with how it looked. Some sections felt too plain and the information was not arranged the way I wanted. For this phase, I first looked at my old website and thought about what I should change. I did not want to completely change the idea of the project, so I kept the main weather features but started planning a new layout. Before writing the code, I made a rough sketch on paper. I planned the header, city search, main weather section, forecast cards, hourly weather, other cities and the bottom sections. I also wanted the new design to feel more like a real website and less like a basic practice project. I focused on better spacing, simple typography, clear sections and making the page look good on different screen sizes. Things I planned to improve Redesign the full page layout Make the weather section more clear Improve the forecast cards Add a better hourly forecast section Make the other cities section cleaner Improve mobile responsiveness Keep the interface simple and easy to use
I finished the CSS part of my weather website redesign. After making the rough layout in the first phase, I started turning that idea into an actual interface with proper spacing, sections, cards and responsive layout. I worked on the main weather area, forecast sections, hourly weather, other cities and the footer. I also adjusted the typography, sizes and spacing so the page feels more balanced and closer to the sketch I made. The CSS is now mostly completed, and the website finally looks much closer to the design I had in mind. There are still some small things I want to improve later, but the main visual structure is done. What I completed Main page layout Weather hero section Search bar styling Weather information cards Forecast cards Hourly forecast layout Other cities cards Footer section Spacing and typography Responsive layout adjustments
After completing the main CSS design, I have started working on the animations for the weather website. I want the page to feel a little more alive instead of everything just appearing on the screen at once. Right now I am experimenting with small animations for the weather section, cards, clouds and different parts of the page. I am trying to keep the animations smooth and simple so they do not make the website feel overloaded. I am also checking how the animations look while scrolling and on different screen sizes. Some animations still need a few adjustments, so this phase is not completely finished yet. i want to give a suprise to You so I didnt attached the dedgine imadge Smooth page animations Weather and cloud animations Card hover effects Small transitions between sections Scroll-based effects Making animations work properly on mobile
I have started working on the transitions of my weather website. The main design and animations are already there, but some parts still feel a little too sudden when they change or appear. Now I am trying to make everything feel more smooth and natural. I am adjusting the timing, speed and small movements of different elements so the website does not feel like everything is just jumping from one state to another.
After working on the transitions, I am now doing the small details that can make the website feel more complete. I am going through the whole page again and checking things like spacing, text sizes, card alignment and how each section looks together. I also found a few small things that did not feel right in the first version, so I am fixing them instead of leaving them as they are. The goal now is not to add a lot of new stuff, but to make the existing design cleaner and more polished.
The visual part of the redesign is getting close, so now I have started working on the actual functionality. One problem I noticed was that the page looked good with fixed weather information, but that is not useful for a real weather website because the data needs to change dynamically when a user searches for another city.I started connecting the [Yahan apni API ka naam likhein, e.g., OpenWeatherMap] API and working on how the JSON data will be received and parsed. At first, handling different responses was a little confusing because not every city returns the same weather condition data format (some cities lacked specific fields like rain or wind speed), so I had to make my JavaScript logic more flexible using conditional checks.I also added robust error handling using try…catch blocks for cases like an invalid city name (404 errors) or missing data, so the website displays a clean “City Not Found” message instead of crashing or freezing. What I worked on:Connected the live weather API and parsed the incoming JSON response.Replaced all static/fixed UI placeholders with dynamic live data.Linked the city search input button with the API fetch trigger.Implemented logic to dynamically render temperature, humidity, and weather condition text.Handled edge cases (invalid search results, API down, or empty inputs) to prevent UI breakage.Tested the app with multiple global cities to ensure consistent data behavior.
After getting the main structure ready, I started working on the different weather sections one by one. I did not want to build everything together because it became difficult to see which part was causing a problem. I started with the current weather information and then worked on the forecast and hourly sections. While doing this, I noticed that some information looked fine on its own but did not look balanced when placed next to the other sections. So I kept adjusting the structure and spacing while checking the whole page together. I am also trying to keep the information easy to understand, because showing too much weather data at once can make the page confusing. What I worked on Current weather information Forecast section Hourly weather section Weather informtion cards Other cities section Better arrangement of weather data Connecting different sections visually
HI thats new dedgined tower For my site home screen i will revel only this pls like and foolow my devlog project and pls give suggestion on cooment what to aad to get 10 on 10 rating on ship
After arranging the main weather sections, I started working on how the information moves through the website. I noticed that simply getting the API data was not enough — the same data had to reach the correct cards and sections without making the page feel messy. I started separating the current weather, hourly data and forecast data so each part could be handled properly. While doing this, I found a few cases where some values were missing or the weather condition was not matching the icon being shown. I fixed these parts by making the data handling more flexible and checking the response before displaying it. I am also keeping the structure simple so it will be easier to add more features later.
can you Belive I dont Have My Presnol laptop or pc i am from a very poor family from india and i am makeing projects working on hackclub from schools computer so i have limited time to work and make projects soory to giving less information
After working on how the weather data flows through the website, I started focusing on the city search experience. The search feature is an important part of the project because it is how users will interact with the website most of the time. One issue I noticed was that changing the city affected multiple parts of the page at once. The current weather, forecast and other information all need to update together. So instead of handling every section separately, I started organising the search flow more carefully. I am also working on making the interaction feel smoother after a search. The goal is to avoid the page feeling like it suddenly changes from one city to another. What I worked on Improving the city search flow Updating multiple weather sections together Handling different city searches Improving the response after searching Working on smoother content changes Preparing the search system for better error handling later
After improving the city search, I started working on what happens between the search and the final weather result. I noticed that when the API takes a little time to respond, the page can feel like nothing is happening, which is not a very good experience. So I started adding a proper loading state while the new weather data is being fetched. I am also making sure that the old information does not stay visible in a confusing way while the new city is loading. Another thing I am working on is keeping the animations connected with these changes, so the weather information does not suddenly appear without any transition. What I worked on Added a loading state for weather searches Improved the transition between old Worked on API response timing Prevented confusing outdated information Connected loading with the existing animations Started preparing better error feedback
After working on the loading state, I moved on to the situations where something goes wrong. A weather website cannot assume that every search will always return a perfect result, so I wanted to make these cases feel like a normal part of the experience instead of looking like a broken page. I started handling cases such as an invalid city name, an empty search and problems with the API response. One small issue I found was that simply showing an error message was not enough — the user should also understand what they need to do next. So I am keeping the error messages simple and making sure the rest of the interface stays usable when a request fails. I am also checking that a failed search does not remove the weather information unnecessarily. What I worked on Invalid city handling Empty search handling API error handling Better error messages Keeping the interface usable after an error Testing different failed requests
After finishing the basic error handling, I started working on how the website visually represents different weather conditions. I noticed that showing only the temperature and text does not give the user much feeling about what the weather is actually like. So I started connecting the weather conditions with the correct icons and visual elements. The tricky part was that the API can return different condition names, so I had to make sure similar conditions were handled correctly instead of creating a separate case for every small variation. I am also trying to keep the visuals consistent with the new design. I don’t want to add too many effects just for the sake of animation, so I am keeping them subtle and related to the actual weather.
After improving the weather visuals, I started checking how the website behaves on smaller screens. The desktop layout was looking good, but when everything became narrower, some cards started feeling too crowded and a few sections needed better spacing. Instead of making a completely separate mobile design, I am adjusting the existing layout so the same website can naturally adapt to different screen sizes. I am also checking the search area, weather information and forecast cards because these are the sections that can become difficult to use on a small screen.
Hlw friend my whether web is almost completed aal api hanling mobile view tab desktop view aal are working perfect the animation are fully smooth any datanot in raw form Aal site is completed i will show the imadge of home view in next Devlog foolw the project to see what is made
After a lot of work behind the scenes, I finally revealed the home screen of the project. The main layout, visuals, animations, and overall experience are starting to come together. There is still a lot left to polish, but I’m happy with how it’s taking shape. Current progress: ~80% complete. The remaining 20% is mainly about refining the details, improving the animations, fixing small issues, and making everything feel more Profeesional

What did i make ? The project is still being developed, so some things may change as I continue working on it. I have intentionally kept the latest redesign hidden for now because I want to reveal the new look...

Refactor for speed Initially, I attempted using kd-trees like I mentioned before. But that led to what felt like at 50x slower execution. So I just sat for a few minutes, staring at the code. Started working on ascii-games - a collection of terminal mini-games built with Python curses. Today I got the basic player movement working, the character actually moves around the screen with arrow keys. Nothing fancy yet but the foundation is there. Next: adding collision detection
The Snake game is ready! Now I’m going to work on another, more complex game with more mechanics and things to do.
This game is gonna be a platformer, For now you can walk and jump (up to 3 times)
The platform game is starting to look like one, you can jump, shoot, build, and run away from enemies. The enemy chases you, can walk on stairs, and can jump too...
