Devlogs:
devlog #1-3 : added collision tiles, player movement, bg music, decorations, and the start of enemies (so sorry in advance for the bad devlogs)
devlog #4 : added the flashlight on and off function, made the vending machines refill the light, made the light bar, made all health, made the potholes + the destinations (still debugging), added better music/different sounds
devlog #5 : made the continuation of the level one, updated music, added another blocker (the drones)!
devlog #6 : added a trashcan = heart pickups, made level 2, added extra noises (+ redid some of the volume of them), made the start of the titlescreen + the buttons for it, redid some bugs ( bro took me like 40 minutes of one and I genually feel like death after )
devlog #7 : added mobile!!! + used canva 🐐 for this!, changed title music, added transition between titlescreen and actual game
devlog #8 : fixed the switches script, added esc button/esc box, made level 3+4!
devlog #9: made uh the levelselect (which took forever btw genuinely worst experience of my entire existence of life), level 5 made, levelselect bg with canva 🐐 , also side note not with the actual time of godot but I figured out how to view my projects on my phone!!
devlog #10 : made 2 new levels, redid some of the notes and added more, and tried to fix a bug I think I genuinely spent like 7 hours straight just trying to debug this one issue with my script that was making the levellist not showing up on mobile (ps it didnt even work )
devlog #11 : added a fade for the hearts, tried again to fix the levellist , added a glow around the vending machine so that if your light turns off you can find a vending machine , added small dust particles, added another level

devlog #13 : added achievements ⭐ !!, added achievements into the title screen, changed level button to extra button then put that into there, changed the heart charge ❤️ , added/changed the regdrone and elecdrone scripts to flicker and disappear when dying also created a video for this!!
devlog #14 : added sparks when spear hits drone, fixed bugs in achivement manager, added dissolve shader (had to search for a tutorial for this ) for both drones (made it kinda break apart piece by piece), fixed multiple scripts (like all of them took around 4 ish hours) as the code was bothering me
devlog #15 : made 4 new levels!! (took forever ), fixed shader script because it always made the duplicated drones not show up , fixed the titlescreen script so it has better ui 🎨 , and fixed a bug in the titlescreen load

hi so for all those who are going to review this my level select is not working right now so I would appreciate it if those who are looking at this just ignore that feature for right now, I am working on it and hopefully it will be done soon! so sorry 😔🙏
devlog #19 : I HAVE FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!! GO AHEAD AND TRY THE LEVELSELECT
Ships:
blockers is a top-down game made with Godot and GDScript where players control a knight exploring dark environments, fighting enemies with a spear, and using a flashlight to survive. I’m especially proud of creating 15 levels, developing the combat and flashlight systems, designing the enemies, and implementing the UI, save system, and achievements. This project has helped me improve my godot coding skills, and I hope to use what I’ve learned to create more games in the future! Thank you in advance to all the reviewers! features 15 levels that get harder title screen with buttons for extras, levels, achievements, and settings a spear for fighting enemies flashlight system that drains energy while exploring dark areas health and flashlight energy systems power switches that must be activated to progress through certain levels vending machines that restore flashlight energy heart pickups that restore health regular and electric drone enemies with different challenges knockback and enemy death animations achievement system that tracks player accomplishments level progression and save system
hey! just wanted to ship my final stuff with the levelselect actually working! mightve taken a bit to finally realize what I was doing wrong but I got there! thank you for all the support and hope you enjoy the game!...

alrighty so i’ve laid out a bit of a system in my head - would probably be better to actually flowchart it but im not bothered with all that lol. currently i have just finished the main menu and have began the actual file creation system through pythons built-in open() function. also imported datetime because i want the file to have the date of creation on it :) for the actual file creation, the user types in the project name, then i ask the user to add the file path of where to put the boms, then put it all in a while loop so if paths r invalid it’ll just loop. and finally the file actually gets created at the path with the name format ‘projectname-bom-dd-mm-yy.csv’. nextly, i will pre-add all the columns that i use for the boms and allow the user to actually add items to the bom.
an hour of spaghetti code later and it works!! i started by pre adding all the my columns from the bills of materials from other projects i’ve made. then i made inputs for every single column type except item no. and unit cost because they can be automated with tracked variables. finally, a bit of code to write them into the .csv file and voila, it shows up perfectly in excel!
just a quick devlog cause i added validations for each of the queries so things arent left blank or whatever. just imagine loads of these sprinkled into the rest of the code.
and the backend is completely finished! i first replaced the amend option with just an exit program because i assume if amending needs to happen, the user can manually faster do it in a spreadsheet program. then pretty much the rest of the time was spent doing the markdown conversion and it sucked going through iteration by iteration but i managed in the end to get it to an acceptable state wherein the table is easy to paste into any github repo and works without any issue!

i made an automated .csv bill of materials generator and .md table converter for github repos because i am mainly a hardware project builder and making bills of materials for my github repos took way too much time and hassle for what it’s worth. my main problems with creating bills were that there were too many things to keep track of manually at once costs had to be manually calculated parts weren’t categorised properly a lot of the time there were additional things i had to express, but couldn’t do so. i had to go through all that effort only to manually convert the .csv bill into .md compatible text to show in my readmes. so, to fix each of these issues i did the following: automatically designated part numbers so the user doesn’t need to keep track of which part they last entered. calculated the unit cost of parts using the total cost and quantity of parts needed. used some standardized part number designators (PCB-XXX, 3DP-XXX etc.) but also allowed any custom 3 letter designator to be used for specific, niche parts. created an algorithm that loops through each of the rows of the .csv bom that is created and generates a markdown table with the exact same information with nothing lost which can be easily copy and pasted into a github repo. added a notes section, specifically for manufacturing notes or notes about pricing....

Book Helper DEVLOG: #2 more apps! coolio, i have added TWO!! window thingies stats ambient noises i had a REALLY long rain file… like . . . 120 mb. not good. i am currently trimming it down cause it was an hour long and it’ll be compressed too. i tried doing some javascript for the stats, with some help of ai, but i havent gotten to testing it yet. hopefully it works ! it was a struggle formatting it, and also programming the buttons so that theyd play the right audio and would change text and all that fun stuff. regardless of all that, i think its coming along nicely :)

Book Helper DEVLOG: #4 tested site, pixelated it! i have tested the website, and it WORKS?! i had to tweak some things like making each theme look a bit nicer and configure colors, but it works! Book Helper DEVLOG: #8 booklist update . . ship?! alright, this was a quick devlog! i have made my book list better, rather than just being a text book. update includes: Checklist system, add book titles of your own Notes for personal use Counter of how many books are listed and how many are read i wanted to do some sort of like search for a book thing like an api? but that seemed too complicated for me so i just opted for a simple checklist system.
