i started working on a custom project for a QMEU where the esp32 also acts as a slave and a master at the same time
Add simulation functions for flash commands and initialize memory
I started on a rewrite on the firmware part on the project, and decided that the emulation was too much work and quit and I’ve planned to use (if you have one) the PSRAM on the ESP32 to act as a buffer for the read and flashing ROMs havent made any work on the CLI, though.
continued
Started on a comprehensive rewrite that aims to completely redo the protocol and both the firmware and the CLI also updated the name to esprog...

In this demo, you can explore a highly simplified and abstract IKEA simulation, largely inspired by my experiences shopping at IKEA (the endless rows of… boxes and furniture), as well as SCP-3008 (I only found that out while making this project). . The most challenging part were the endless bugs encountered while adding seamless Non-Euclidean geometry, which I had decided to solve by mixing Euclidean geometry with portals, which is how most games simulate Non-Euclideanness. I could’ve opted for a pure mathematically non-euclidean game engine, but that would’ve made making IKEA itself much harder as I would have to wrap my head around non-euclidean geometry. . I had numerous Non-euclidean things planned, such as a tunnel that was longer/shorter on the inside. However, it was hard to integrate them into the actual IKEA due to its non-euclidean shell (meaning it has varying amounts of rooms inside what looks like a building with only 4 rooms). . In the end, I’m very proud of my project as a whole and how I went from a total graphics noob to someone who could make a graphics engine and something IKEA-resembling, entirely from scratch. I certainly enjoyed the moments I spent coding (and debugging) this project, and I hope you enjoy it too!", "repo": "https://github.com/appleroll/wierdikea", "demo": "https://appleroll.github.io/wierdikea"}]...

Just started! I got the bare, bare bones working. Still working out how to do things, but it’s a start!
I got my handy AI to add the famous round ball (hyperbolic space), as well as a portal (i think it worked????)… and it ran out of credits (that’s fine though, I think my brain still has some credits left) It kinda broke the Ames room thing, but I’m still learning the theory so that’s fine I’ll fix it first thing tmrw
So… I decided to completely redo my project. yeah apparently i got the definition of hyperbolic space wrong??? idk i watched a yt video and i decided to make one of those shorter-on-the-inside corridors. So what I did is that I salvaged the portal thing, and I placed one that led from one side of the corridor to the other, so its shorter. It has a few bugs, but it think its working right.
Split my code into modular pieces. Not a big change, but definitely makes my project look less confusing.
Okay. I’ve just spent the past 3 hours of my day fixing a bug. And it still hasn’t been fixed. Apparently since the portal makes the tunnel look shorter, it also makes the other side of the tunnel look further away. I’ve made some… adjustments ( ahem hardcodes values).. into the portal side detection script and it seems to be working, but i have to find a way to change the portals and stuff without doing a complete refresh, something i need to find a way to do. . In the attatched screen recording, you can see how the rectangular prism looks zoomed in at the start, and on the other side, a rectangular prism with the same distance looks further away. . Oh well, I’ll probably fix it tommorrow.
After like 5 hours of working. THE. BUG. FINALLY. FIXEDDDD. I can’t believe it. It literally took 3 lines of code changing. But well, it was a good experience. Now, everything shown in the other portal looks proportionate. Also, if you didn’t notice, i changed some files, like adding the noneuclidean code to the noneuclideans/ folder.
I’ve had some exams recently, so I didn’t really do much. I added another room where the inside is longer than the outside which is cool, but it has a bug where the block looks really close to the portal? I don’t now how to describe it lol. Anyways, I’ll just leave it for now, once I finish my exams I’ll continue working on it.
Aight. It’s been a couple of weeks and i found a job (hooray), so unfortunately i havent been able to do much coding, except maybe plan the idea. It is my pleasure to announce that we have undergone a name change. “Super Noneuclidean” just didn’t describe my project enough, so using my last 3 braincells left today I decided I should rename it to “wierd ikea simulator”. . I know, I know, you might be thinking, “but why Ethan? This name sounds actually horrible”. Well, there’s a pretty good reason for this name, let me explain. . Well… its a feature now . After all, this project isn’t really designed to be that realistic. If it was super realistic, it wouldn’t be a single floor and it definitely won’t have buggy portals everywhere.
Just fixed a bug where the portal would have this weird wireframe surrounding it making it very obvious theres a portal here. However, I’ve been trying to fix the issue where for 1 frame something appears on the screen when u enter a portal. My guess on why this is is because since the portal is a very thin cube, the inside of the cube still exists, hence the blue part. This would require modifying my cube engine into a multi-object engine (pretty hard), but I will give it a try.
Bit.. lacking… for a homepage, but uhh it’ll do for now
Changed the soundtrack, and updated the home page! Not really much to say, same bugs as usual, same features to add, I haven’t been procrasting a lot not gonna lie these bugs are kinda hard to solve. It’s hard to blend when I should add based on IKEA and what to sacrifice based on what I can do.
I. Solved. The. Bug Turns out, after spending 3 days on the bug, asking the Stardance Slack multiple times, having discussions with multiple chatbots, and also loosing maybe 10-15 strands of hair, I’ve finally done it. Turns out, the solution was to change a decimal place, from 0.1 to around 0.01. . Not gonna lie, before this I had completely lost faith in this project. Like seriously. Maybe I’ll keep working on it now that this bug is solved. . “Now Ethan, what exactly is the bug??” you may ask? Well, if you didn’t read my previous devlogs (or maybe i didnt write abt it, idk lol i kinda just.. forget most of my devlogs), I had an issue where there would be a frame of blue in between portal transitions. It completely ruined the “magic trick” of the noneuclidean IKEA. . I can now sleep tonight in peace :)
Cleaned up the code, not much ig. Honestly, I don’t even know if I want to, and should, build the whole IKEA. I’ve been considering turning this into a noneuclidean IKEA storage simulation. . The benefits of this is that it’s much easier to make while still keeping the potential for glTF objects for Blahaj and friends, and also makes it so my project is more narrowly focused, but the downsides is that it probably has less variance, and has not much room for future upgrades. . I might implement the solution where it is a storage simulator for now, ship it, and later I can add code to turn it into a more “detailed” IKEA simulator if I decide graphic computing is for me.
Placed some more shelves
heheh funny bug, set the near plane threshold to 0 (EPILEPSY WARNING)
Fine-tuned some values, especially in movement. I decided it would be better to just hide the near threshold portal bug as a whole and compromise by having this wierd outline surrounding the portal. Maybe I’ll drop some insane IKEA lore explaining how it was a feature and not a bug
Added these little pallette things and first blahajs, but they’re lacking textures and the pallette looks a bit off, will fix first thing tmrw
Still a few bugs, but they’re getting better and I’ve added the pallet things now. I think it should be close to shipping :)
Prepared for ship! Wrote some more in the README, including references used in my IKEA (I’m not trying to copy IKEA, but it can’t be completely different). Hopefully you all enjoy the product I’ve made, because I certainly did enjoy making it!
Ships:
I made a custom non-euclidean game engine, built from scratch with Vite and WebGPU. I certainly enjoyed the moments I spent coding (and debugging) this project, and I hope you enjoy it too!...

sooo ive been makeing a macropad as you see, and i kinda just followed the guide, used the image there as reff and went as it took me, and ive gone this far till now. for this macropad, i actually used the XPPen ACK05 as reffrence for how to place the buttons, since ive always wanted one of these, and then i added osu keys on the bottom too as kid me when i was into it always desperatly wanted one and since i saw the grant had space for it i could, and did add it to my pad, i also made little windows i to see and make space for the xaio and the diodes, as they looked kinda cool in the image, and i can leavve it open or use transparent tape under it to cover it, i personally think itll look fine. i think thats it for this? im not really much of a talker and i feel if i explain my doing in the lapse itll be kinda redundent? also i did kinda mess a lot of things up here so i deleted and remade a LOT of it. im kinda happy with it now though!
so as i said in the comment, i kinda just learnt that you cant post devlogs after finishing everything, so ill be using it for this, so basically i decided, i dont really need the rotary? and i didnt have the pins to make it a clicky rotary, so i swaped it for leds, pretty neat huh? that aside i got to work, and decided to clean up the wireingt too a lil, so i went back to the schem a lil
soo i was doing the leds, then i realised its makeing a mess of the wires, and honestly i was doing too much, so i just removed them , im gonna stick to a pure macropad without much, i think its for the better like this, image on the bottom right is a moths face btw
well, since i removed my rotary, i had to change the case a lil. also added a star where it was, because its a star and this is stardance
okay so i started on the frimware since i wanted to be through, thank god i did, with that i worked on the wireing so it will be easier to code, and i think i gotta program all the buttons and whatnot in manually, so i wrote down all the pins to their rows and coloums and jotted the martix down too
tinkered with the matrix to get the numbers
so I did my code, at last yayyy, I know but I got to it, I added it to my repo and its done now, I could have recorded it but I kinda forgot about it this time, its not too complicated though I feel so I hope it isn’t a big deal here...

Just started this project, I am still making the layout and stuffs. I’m thinking of going for a clean, simple and minimalistic design for the site. And I have plans to make a landing page for it later on when I finish the actual project’s site (this one). Though I have to give it a sleek look, I don’t want to make it look dark and boring so there will be little tweaks to the design you might see on next log…
I have completely made the layout, and I bet it looks really clean. And I have added hover animations to all of it. For the large boxes, those will have a card hover animation where it follows your pointer if you hover over them, and the smaller boxes will have a simple yet smooth pop-up hover animation. I have marked each of the boxes in different colors so that it can be understood what each of the section does: Red: It shows our total cost forecast, month, and what percentage each item costs. Blue: It is where you add your items along with cost. Black: Here is where the algorithm or AI gives the output Yellow: Bar graph comparison between our input and ai/algorithm saving suggestions and shows the total savings amount. cya until next log…
Everything is still static, nothing is yet functional but it soon will be. For now I have added heading and other UI components, skeleton etc. I have tried to make it look as professional looking as I can with simple fonts and good placement of texts. I did not make much progress in these days since my exams are coming up and tmrw is my first term exam. Everybody please pray for me, tysm. gtg sleep now, bye
Unfortunately, I had lost my streak… cuz I was having exams and stuff so I could not really do much until today and made a bit of progress on the UI side, nothings yet funtional do but this is how the finsihed UI is gonna look like. I might have to skip few more days until I get enough time to make my own algoritm since I’m not planning to use any kind of pre-made AI apis or any help from someone’s AI. It’s gonna be based on all present/given data. Cya
After juggling with lots of tight time management, I was able to finish the algorithm logic for the music subscription options. I made it on draw.io and honestly it was not that quick and easy as it looks. I will be switching to figma for the next data set since doing all these on draw.io won’t log anytime but it will get more complicated make these flowchart compared to how smooth it is on draw. I must get back to make another chart, CYA!
The flowcharts and logic for the food delivery options are done. This one I made it on figma and as you can see it does not look as good as the one on the right (made on draw.io), plus it was kinda sluggish to make it cuz randomly the figma page gets corrupted and the texts get interchanged in the boxes. And the saddest thing was I spent an hour on it but the extension only recorded 22 mins. But, i’ve finally done it. I think I will ship it now for everyone to test it before I progress more into it.
I made a small change before the ship. I have added a small widget and a legend for the country codes inside the forcast box. The widget is able to convert the other country rates to USD on a rough estimate. Along with that the forcast changes its currency too now. The analyze button now works manually unlike before where it just instantly show the output. After this I’ll have to upload it to infinity free for the hosting. I might make another log when I’m done writing the README.md. CYA…
And here it is, finally forged a clean and simple README.md page. I have not got anything to say since it is the last log before I ship. So better read the ship message or check down other logs…
We are almost dead end of the stardance and I hope this is gonna be my last devlog. Last time I had to make changes since AI use went over 30%, so I had to either add new features or rewrite the codes myself. Here are the changes: Added: New landing page (made purely out of HTML/CSS) Custom globe model with major regions marked (Made in sculptGL and textured in Paint3D, used google’s model-viewer to display) Region code legend marked in color emoji squares. Notes (for storing texts in local storage) Rewrote: Currency converter (redesinged with bare HTML/CSS and paired with existing script.) New README (reference from othneildrew/Best-README-Template, and Ileriayo/markdown-badges) note: for now the chart is not functional, I will fix it later.
Ships:
A simple yet unique project idea that came in my mind at the start of this month has finally reached it’s first milestone. Here it is the first ship and the first beta preview of the project… The challenging part was creating the logic and the algorithm, at first I thought of using some AI api but then I realized that most of the credit would go to the AI not me so I came up with such a plan. The fun part was actually designing the UI of the website because It was cool to experiment with countless design and I’m glad of how it looks now. I’ve tried my best to keep the documentation and presentation side well so that each devlog, readme etc. were easy to understand by a glance. PLEASE 🙏 keep in mind that this project is still in development and for sure lacks options under “active expenses” as it just to give a peek on what I made. So please, do not rate the project negatively saying that there were less options, or outputs were not from real AI etc… Thank You!
This ship is to account for the few hours I could not log into the previous ship after some changes were requested. I almost forgot about cuz I was working on other YSWSs and stardance is coming to an end too. The major changes I made were updating of the service page with globes and a few redesigns + Added a new homepage/landing page....

ADS-B: An aircraft tracking system with an interactive map showing aircraft positions, altitudes, speeds, headings, and flight trails. It includes native decoders for both 1090 MHz ADS-B, used worldwide, and the freedom frequency (978 MHz) Meteor Decoding: A satellite image decoder capable of decoding imagery transmitted by the Russian Meteor-M2-3 and M2-4 weather satellites. It supports both live reception and decoding previously recorded radio signals (saved as CS8 or CF32 files), with image previews and PNG exports. (A moment of silence for the deprecated NOAA satellites) Another major feature is the architecture itself. I beheaded it. (The project.) The actual GUI is separated from the radio processing backend allowing it to run as a headless daemon. It exposes HTTP and WebSocket API’s, making it possible to interact with the backend without using the GUI. Getting everything working was… interesting. Building the decoding pipelines, integrating them into a responsive desktop interface (making it snappy and fast took several tens of hours), debugging signal processing issues, and literally running through cornfields with an antenna in my hand were some of the biggest challenges I ran into. The project went through several major redesigns, from the initial Rust implementation to separating the backend from the UI, briefly experimenting with Electron, and eventually returning to the native Rust interface. After over 160 hours of logged work , I’m excited to finally ship ez-SDR! Full UI redesign + a ton of new features: The ADSB tab now includes a map, plane labels, and a 3D view mode. Added a Discord gateway that sends notifications and images of detected planes, satellite passes, and more. Overhauled the AI Assistant tab. Added a reasoning effort dropdown to the AI assistant. Added premade themes and in depth ui customization.
Yet another from-scratch redesign because lately most of the app started feeling bloated and hard to use for beginners (which defeats the entire purpose of ez -sdr, which is meant to be easy . Therefore i moved most of the unnecessary stuff in advanced and other tabs. Also patched a lot of bugs.
I cut its head off. Fully decoupled Ez-sdr from Ez-gui (the Rust UI), effectively turning Ez-sdr into a headless project. This allows Ez-sdr to be coupled to multiple channels: The original Rust UI WebUI (Almost done, in development) Discord (in development) This decoupling also exposes an API, allowing you to integrate and use Ez-sdr functionalities on the go within your own applications and projects.
Considering that the last two LRPT satellites that still transmit are Meteor m2-3 and Meteor m2-4 i did efforts to make decoding them as fast as possible , especially cf32, cs16 and cs8 decoding. Now i didnt really get to test the upgrades.. because i didnt get to FINISH the upgrades but i DID finish the web ui remote from the last devlog. (I am posting this devlog WITHOUT a finished feature because im getting close to the 10 hour cap) Also ive went outside, touched grass and snatched a good cs32 from meteor m2-4 so i actually have what to test the decoding on.
Should I even be happy? I finally tested ez-sdr’s satellite decoding with a real recording I took yesterday on an Meteor M2-4 88* pass, and it’s… not great, especially compared to SatDump’s decode. (Ez-sdr is the first image, SatDump is the second image.) What troubles me the most is that I literally stole SatDump’s homework equation by equation and rewrote it in Rust, and it still looks like shite lol. Its for sure progress and im happy with that lol
Not much to be written, just some painful and slow progress with decoding meteor imagery.
Couldnt patch the ads-b map view inside the rust gui app so i took a U turn with the porject and went all in for an Electron App as the gui for the ez-sdr daemon. mockup waterfall
a TON of bug hunting and im going back to the old rust ui because it turns out the electron app wasnt my brightest idea
Rust UI is back, also ported a couple of features from sdr++, The screenshot contains an actual signal (unlike the mockups in past devblogs), more precisely a local music radio station received through ez-sdr with a rtl sdr v4 dongle
Going for a final round of fixes on the ads-b pipeline before marking it as finished 6.1 sol xhigh audited it and its not looking too good (holy f 11k words)
Getting ready to ship it so here I am trying to patch some final bugs in the Meteor Satellite Lrpt decoding pipeline
Major reliability and release readiness improvements for EZ-SDR -stronger ADS-B/UAT decoding -safer settings, cleaner daemon and browser lifecycles -better audio and integrations - finally stable data paths -packaging fixes -removal of immense amounts of bloat PS heres an image of LRPT decoding in action
Ships:
I built ez-SDR , an open source software defined radio application written entirely in Rust (one of the relatively few fully Rust-based SDR desktop applications). ez-SDR has three main tabs: Radio: A general-purpose radio receiver with AM, FM, SSB, CW, and other modulation modes, real-time spectrum and waterfall displays, and stereo FM with RDS support. The source code and Linux builds are available on GitHub, with a Windows build planned for the near future....

You can now encode and decode B58 with ezenc! Slowly but surely, progress is being made! :)
It works! ezenc can now automatically decode any of ~26 languages and hashes that you paste in!
Added some advanced regex-based cipher detection that attempts to intelligently detect which cipher you’re talking in (this is basically just copy and pasting the encryption code but refactoring it into an actual helper function lmao)
Finally, you can both encode AND decode with ezenc! Now all that’s left to do is to make a main menu for choosing which one, and, of course, making it so that you can encode ANYthing, not just Base64 :3
The main menu of ezenc is now functional! You can encode and decode in the same command, and it now should fully support 30 encryption methods! :)
Packaged everything on PyPI and getting ready to ship! :D

So, I needed something to change the playback speed of subtitles: European releases of TV shows and movies run faster than the same show in the US when aired on TV or released on DVD. Most of the time this isn’t an issue (it’s most noticeable in music) but it is an issue when you’re trying to use subtitles from the internet that have been timed against the “wrong” version. So that’s what this does: it takes in the frame rate (speed) of the video the subtitles were timed against, the speed of the video you’re trying to match it with (so often 25 FPS -> 23.976 FPS when dealing with PAL subtitles on something released in NTSC regions). Currently, it only works with TTML files (specifically files following the EBU’s EBU-TT-D format but it shouldn’t matter) because that’s just the format I was able to find the subtitles I was looking for in. I need to add support for other formats like .SRT and .ASS, which I’ll do after this devlog as well as adding a conversion tool between at least those three. I’m building ezsub as a PWA, mainly because I think things like these should be easily accessible online. To do this, I’m using Blazor WebAssembly to run the app fully in the browser, and it’s been an… interesting experience. As you can see from the screenshot, the app isn’t very polished (it’s still using the default template Blazor provides) but it does work (note how the timestamps in the “after” window are slightly later than the ones in the “before” window, that’s what’s supposed to happen). That being said, I’m building this as if it was a standalone app rather than a website, so I’m going to have to make it its own landing page at some point :D"}]...
