Just doing a quick post since I am racking up some time. Haven’t been working a lot on the software as I’ve been really busy recently. Anyways the command to dump the entire memory is almost done. Right now I am just making it print some specific known bytes from the dump.

First devlog Last days I worked on a small and simple project called nano_code. It´s a bytecode written in pure assembly and designed to be fast. I hope I can beat the JVM on modern PC. So what did I do? Actually I did the hardest part of this project by making the loop (fetch-decode-execute). Now I just need to implement the instructions one by one. Last three days I added a lot of instructions. We can perform arithmetic expressions and jump with and without conditions. So I think my VM is turing complete isn´t it? Today I did a fibonacci test and I beat the JVM.
All operations on registers are done. It´s faster than JVM for 100 numbers of Fibonacci. So now I just have to make the memory operations and the syscall system. Then the core will be done.
Okay so I added memory operations from 8 bits to 32 bits. I also did the syscall system but for now I just have one syscall which is print (the same as the write syscall on linux).
Okay so I finished the bytecode, all is working great! I started a language for it which is closer to assembly. I do it with customASM. On the image you can see the Fibonacci algorithm
I think I am done with this project… I hope it´s fine to ship it.

I started the webOS project and I am almost done with the welcome page as you can see in the photo below i also used a lot of styles to make it look good.
i made my window draggable, added the top bar, script and style files, and more. Its really starting to look like a real OS and next i am going to add some more cool features and windows.
i added two apps to my OS, galaxy notes and galaxy settings, in notes you can edit the notes to what you want to say and in settings you can change things like the theme, and background. it all saves in local storage.
I started the webOS 2 mission. So far I added a app called nebula browser that uses Iframe to diplay webistes, and updated all the other code like css and javascript. I have also been working out bugs and making it more professional.
Its finally done!! I added 2 apps to my webOS plus other features to make it run smooth and i polished it up. There is now a terminal for commands, a galaxy defender game that you can play, a search bar, and a intro screen at the start. The windows also now have actual working minimize/maximize and close buttons. I also polished the css and everything to make sure it was completely ready to submit.

First theres push-to-talk. u hold the mic button, talk, release, nero processes it. simple right? but then theres continuous mode and in continuous mode is where the chaos begins. When u flip that toggle nero spins up a SECOND speech recognizer in the background that is constantly listening for “hey nero”. like constantly. and when it hears it, it kills that background recognizer and spins up the MAIN recognizer to actually capture what ure saying. TWO recognizers running at the same time. One listening for the trigger, one ready to capture the actual message. the moment the wake word hits, background one dies, main one takes over. About the STT, so originally this thing was using the Web Speech API and bruhhhh the Web Speech API is just unreliable as hell. it only works in Chrome, needs HTTPS or localhost, and half the time it just doesnt fire on result at all. Like u speak, it says “listening…”, then nothing happens. No transcription, no response, nothing. I tried fixing it multiple times — started recognition immediately instead of waiting for mic permission, added error handling, changed the flow… still broken. the Web Speech API is just built different (bad different), so i had to rip it out of nero and then replaced it with MediaRecorder + Gemini for transcription. Now when u tap the orb it records audio using the MediaRecorder API, sends the audio blob to Gemini, and Gemini transcribes it. And tbh its way more reliable because it doesnt depend on browser-specific speech engines. It just works better and the Gemini model used for transcription is gemini-2.5-flash — the same one used for chats so it understands context. And heres the thing — after the addition of the STT the whole sound system changed. LIke before nero’s voice was legit too boring but now she is even able to speak like a waifu. She says hehehe and chuckles and speaks a lot better than before. Also there was a lot of problem for the api keys, cause when anyone was trying to put their api in Nero it was getting stored but nero was unable to run on that api, due to which no one could use that and i also cannot put my gemini api cause it would get rate limit too quick if multiple people used it. So in settings there’s an “Add API Key” button that expands into a form and in that u give it a name (like “My Gemini Key”)and then paste your API key, hit add. Then key get VALIDATED before its stored — nero actually makes a test request to the API to confirm the key works. If the key is invalid it tells u immediately, doesn’t just silently store garbage🥀🥀. Here’s how it works: there’s a whole personality system in personalities.ts with two modes — normal and waifu. the normal one is straightforward, just a good AI. but the waifu personality? it’s an anime-inspired companion with kaomoji (like (✿◠‿◠) and (◕‿◕)), uses japanese words, gets emotionally attached to you, and has this whole kawaii vibe going on and on. The BEST part is you don’t even need to go to settings to switch. you can just type something like “act like a waifu” or “be normal again” in the chat and nero detects it automatically and there’s literally a function called detectPersonalitySwitch() that scans your message for phrases like “waifu mode”, “be cute”, “act normal” etc and switches on the fly. So you’re just chatting and suddenly nero goes from professional to kawai and it’s hilarious every time. It’s not just a gimmick either — the entire system prompt changes, the waifu gets its own set of rules about how to talk, how to express emotions, how to react, two completely different AI personalities. internet search (it’s… a work in progress) ok so nero HAS web search code which is like actual multi-source search — DuckDuckGo, Wikipedia, Google Custom Search, News API. the needsWebSearch() function detects when you’re asking about current events and auto-triggers a search and the results get fed into the AI’s context so it can answer with real-time info. but here’s the reality — right now it mostly just opens links in new tabs. the ResearchMode shows you a list of results and you click them. The auto-search in chat is supposed to inject results into the conversation so the AI summarizes them for you, but it doesn’t always work as smoothly as i’d like and yeah sometimes the AI just outputs links instead of actually reading and summarizing the search results, sometimes needsWebSearch() doesn’t trigger when it should. It’s like having a search engine that works but doesn’t know how to talk about what it found yet. the plumbing is there, the execution needs polish and still a lot of work to make it feel like a real research assistant instead of a link generator. text-to-speech edge-tts is installed and functional, nero can read responses out loud using Microsoft Edge neural voices.I would like to add new voices, adjust speed and pitch before i ship this project. I think i have finished working on my personal ai agent AKA NERO, so i made some changes in the voice mode so lemme talk about this because this thing genuinely took forever to build. Nero Ai is like my own AI that i built from scratch with nextjs. It’s got 7 different brains that automatically figure out what you need — like coding, search, creative stuff, etc. there’s even a waifu mode lol where the AI talks like an anime girl. it can write code, do voice, search the web, and remembers stuff about you. basically it’s like having your own personal AI but cooler. The voice part and the ui was the most challenging and nero is a lil shy so she takes 5 to 10 sec to reply by voice (●’◡’●)...

Technically, VLC already does that, but what I would like is something like Plex, but that can play movies from a selection, but from the files of a DVD so that I can access menus and extras. What makes a valid DVD? A valid DVD, in the real specifications, is basically an ISO-9660 file system that contains an AUDIO_TS directory, usually empty for we are talking about DVD-Video and not DVD-Audio, and a VIDEO_TS directory that contiguously contains VIDEO_TS.IFO along with its backup, VIDEO_TS.BUP , followed by a VOB video file for the menu, VIDEO_TS.VOB , then contains title sets, noted as an IFO VTS_xx_0.IFO with its backup VTS_xx_0.BUP and its VOB parts, VTS_xx_0.VOB up to VTS_xx_n.VOB where xx is the numerical identifier to the title set and n is the part of the current title set, understanding that xx starts at 01 because 00 is VIDEO_TS.VOB and n starts at 0 , considering that VOB files are naught but MPEG-2 videos part of a subset of the MPEG-2 specifications where all VOB files are valid MPEG-2 videos but not all MPEG-2 videos are valid VOB files. A valid DVD, as far as nethomevideo has to concern itself, is a directory that contains a VIDEO_TS directory that contains a valid VIDEO_TS.IFO file. An IFO file is a long data structure that contains a plethora of fields that range from very useful for nethomevideo , such as the number of title sets on a DVD, to incredibly futile such as the Provider ID, which would be useful if distributors actually filled it out. The problem with IFO files is that pretty much all fields change meaning depending on whether it is a VMG or video manager IFO or a VTS or video title set IFO. For instance, at offset 0x00C4 , you’ll find a sector pointer to the table of titles in VIDEO_TS.IFO which is a VMG IFO, but the start sector of the title VOB in a VTS IFO. The pointer to the table of titles and chapter in a VTS IFO is at 0x00C8 , which is a sector pointer to the menu program chain in the VMG IFO. The way you differentiate a VTS IFO from a VMG IFO is easy: look at the first 12 bytes. Any IFO file starts with DVDVIDEO- , and then three characters, either VMG or VTS . What does nethomevideo check for? As of now, all that nethomevideo does is verify that the directory you have given is actually a DVD and then load its number of title sets from the VMG IFO. Beyond checking that the given directory to a DVD file is actually a directory that exists, it checks for a VIDEO_TS directory in the given path, otherwise it throws some lovely exceptions from the Standard Template Library. It then proceeds to check if a VMG IFO exists, otherwise it again throws some even lovelier exceptions from the Standard Template Library. Then it checks for an optional AUDIO_TS directory in the root of the DVD. What I’ll have to implement next I’d first like to move the logic that loads the IFO file to get the title set count of the DVD to a new function to load any type of IFO that would ideally return a struct containing all fields of the IFO along with the type of IFO. Field names change between VMG and VTS IFO files but their sizes and quantity stay the same lest they are straight up left blank and unused. My main goal for now is to get to actually writing an interpreter for the Interaction Machine, basically the DVD menu bytecode. It will probably run on the server-side using client-side inputs, which given it’ll run on LAN and not over WAN, tunnels or anything like that, lest it’s a demo, should probably be fine for latency. Although, given actual input latency on a real player, it’d probably be just like the real thing. After that, it’ll be a matter of putting all that logic inside of a reusable class that I can instanciate for any new movie session. If all goes to plan, at least."}]...

if you give a software geek kicad… hey everyone! my name is palladium, and I am building a tamagotchi (basically) on a macropad, based on neurons as my pet. i have not gotten to the neuron part but i’ll figure it out through wikipedia :) i have created the pcb layout in kicad, and i am trying to learn how to use fusion 360, as I have absolutely no idea what is going on. i’ll just watch a few tutorials and figure out how to design a case around all of this....

DEVLOG 1: i learnt how to set up a server with node.js and it seems quite complex but turns out that its just this obstacle i need to cross to start locking in on the actual app!!! And just by learning how to initialise your server with server.js, i’ve understood how the backend will be calling the specific apps! this is going to be a looooong project andI’m excited to share the journey with yall!!
because i had to change the folder name, the hackatime time checker messed up and ruined the timing i had actually done, which was for 57 minutes. but nonetheless the initial writing for server.js is complete! now ive moved on to making a gait engine which basically tracks the way you walk. this will be the core part of the project and as im making it im able to learn a little about maths aswell lol
Devlog-3 : The python engine: so after a long 26 minutes i finallyy finished the python engine which basically tracks the legs of the person its viewing and calculates the distance the ankle, heel etc are from each other and then with some arc tan finding angle yabadabadobee, it finalllyyy worked. now i’ve started on the html part and safe to say this is a pain in the butt. but away we go!
After hours of understanding how html works i finally made a html page for tracking the gait of a person whose walking! took me long enough lol now im gonna move on to other parts of the program!
43 mins later and alot of changes had to be made to all of my files since im updating them as im moving forward with each new file. now i’ve been working on the csv data to pdf file converter in python and hopefully it goes smooth!
Devlog 6- finalised my pdf generation for the gait analyzer this morning and safe to say this was a PAAIN to make i had to learn so many new terms it was crazy anyways the pdf generator basically takes your gait data (cadence, stride length, step length, double support time) in a form of csv (which my gait analysing engine tracks real time and creates) and gives you an automated response of all the data on wether your walking style is good or bad, ive got only a few more html files to make and finally i can ship this project!
devlog 7 - just finished the program which checks your posture! it uses our gait engine aswell because it checks a few other metrics including the shoulder alignment, finally all i need to do is create the 3rd and final program which has an option to take in the walking style measured in a loong time (saved as csv) and report given to us as a pdf. Then i make the index.html and try my best to ship the project!
dev log8- I FINALLY FINISHED MY GAIT DETECTION APP!!! I’m insanely happy with how this turned out and now all thats left is to fire up my local nodejs server test to see its accuracy, beautify things and then FINALLY i’ll learn how to ship my project (since its got a python backend which i’d love to get help from yall on how to ship) and we’ll move on to the next project!!
dev log 9- trying to deploy this app has been a nightmare. it is almost impossible to do so without paying for the web services so instewad ive decided to add a demo video showing how the project works with the files they can download and run by themselves
Heres an update to why neurostratum is not deployed: NeuroStratum uses your device’s webcam in real time for live gait and posture tracking. Browser security (and most free hosting sites) don’t allow a deployed server to reliably access a stranger’s webcam for real-time video processing — this is true of basically any live computer-vision project, not just mine. Instead of a broken live demo, I recorded a full walkthrough video showing every feature actually working, including live tracking on myself and a normal versus abnormal gait comparison. You can also clone the repo and run it locally (see setup instructions in the README) since it needs local webcam access either way! thank you!(I’ve tried deploying it on multiple hosts, trust me it didnt work one bit.) and i DID NOT USE AI FOR MY README????

That left a question I skipped over: how do you actually train a compressor to do that? The naive version is to run the EEG through an encoder, get an embedding, and store just that. But it has two problems. First, I’d be throwing the raw signal away for good, and a brain recording is expensive and reusable, you might want to ask it a different question later. Second, and bigger: what target do I train the embedding toward? An autoencoder left to itself just learns whatever compresses easiest, which lands me right back at fidelity. The insight I landed on: I don’t have to invent the meaning space. It already exists. Image and text models like CLIP have already learned a space where a picture of an accordion and the word “accordion” sit in the same spot. So instead of hoping my compressor discovers meaning on its own, I borrow a model that already has it and use it as a judge. Here’s the shape. The codec compresses and rebuilds the EEG like a normal codec. Then I take the rebuilt signal, push it through a frozen model that maps it into that shared image-text space, and score how close it lands to the embedding of the image the person actually saw. If the reconstruction drifts away from the right meaning, that score punishes it. The judge never changes, it only grades. The important part is that the gradient has to flow through the frozen judge back into the compressor. The judge is frozen but not detached: it’s a fixed grader whose opinion shapes what the codec learns to keep. That one detail is easy to get wrong, and it’s the whole trick. So the loss becomes three things added together: spend few bits, rebuild the waveform roughly, and stay decodable in the judge’s space. That third term is the entire idea. It’s what makes the codec hold onto the accordion instead of the loudest wiggle in the signal. And because the judge lives in a text-image space, search comes for free. Type a word, it becomes a point in the same space, and I rank the stored recordings by how close they land. I never trained on text."}, {"post_id": 19460, "ts": "2026-06-30T19:46:32Z", "hours": 5.0653, "text": "The Problem and My Idea The problem. Brain-to-image datasets are huge and growing, and the only way we compress them today is generic lossy compression that optimizes how the waveform looks. That throws away the part that actually matters: what the person saw. And there’s no way to search the data. A lab with decades of recordings can’t ask “find the trials where the subject saw a face.” My idea: embeddings. Instead of storing the raw signal, store an embedding: a short vector that captures the meaning of the data, not its pixels. The clearest example is faces. Face recognition already works this way. A face gets turned into a vector (a few hundred numbers), and identity lives in the geometry of that space: the same person’s faces land close together, different people land far apart. You never store the photo. You store the embedding, and that tiny vector is enough to recognize, match, or search the face. Where I want to take it. My idea is that the same trick should work for the “what you saw” signal in a brain recording. If I can map an EEG epoch into a latent space that captures meaning (the kind of space face and image models already live in), then I could: Store it tiny. Keep the compact embedding instead of the full signal. Search it by meaning. Type a word, find the matching recordings, because text and these embeddings can share a space. Compress against meaning, so what survives is what the data is for, not the loudest part of the waveform. This is the direction I want to take it: treat embeddings as the storage format, the way we already do for faces, and apply it to the brain."}]...
