FIRST DEVLOG YAYAYAYAY Set up the project :p Currently working on making a pixel-perfect system for the game so it looks super polished like Celeste (the original Voidborne had crazy mixels ) Looks HORRIBLE rn but I plan to start artmaxxing soon!!
WE’RE GETTING SOMEWHERE!! Made a player sprite and added an idle animation to it. I decided to move away from having a fully pixel perfect setup bc it was more annoying and bad-looking than being standard. I’m still gna avoid mixels at ALL costs bc they look horrible. But yes the voidborn is real now say hi to them :p
Pixel art is SO hard Working on player animations right now. I have a decentish base down? But it looks HORRIBLE and it looks even worse if you’re actually moving. I need to lock in hard
wooohooo the animations don’t look that bad now!! basically just improved player animations and added separate ones for jump moving, moving, and still jumping/standing still.
we are SO locked in on the first area!! looks pretty nice, added a drop shadow behind the player for contrast and it’s been working pretty well
Added in a slash animation for the player’s attack. Also made the player a little bit brighter so they stand out against the very monochrome background.
Working on the intro/wakeup/tutorial area right now! The plan is to have it look like it’s dead, dark, and void-like. Super empty, dreary, eerie, etc you get the vibe.
maaaaajor optimizations! and worldbuilt a little bit. the swirl shader was MASSIVELY laggy so I got a better one and it works fine now! also fixed the fog shader so it looks nicer and is more optimized.
Added the first enemy! Still deciding a name but it’s SUPER easy to deal with bc it’s literally the first enemy. Hit detection now works (though the player taking damage is rly buggy rn and I gotta fix it) and I still have to do a death animation/sequence and whatnot. I’m thinking of having an impact frame so the game freezes for a split second upon hit, hollow knight style!
Made more world tiles, improved enemy behaviour, improve knockback, enemies don’t go over the edge, made the basis of a door that opens on a condition being met (like arena fight complete or key collected). Also made more of the first area itself. I’m planning on having an arena fight where the video ended off and having the player go down deeper and deeper until they are met with a cutscene.
set up dialogic + trigger systems!! I have an easy way to trigger any dialogic timeline through a component/scene I made, and timelines have the ability to trigger events like opening doors (I still have to make an animation for that)!!...

This led to a entire process of figuring out how to inject end-of-reasoning traces directly into the LLM but it was honestly too difficult and inconsistent to evaluate in the end. Similarly, manually reviewing over 200 flagged tasks was a pain and introduces a systematic uncertainty that is myself reviewing these questions that are mostly arbitrary rather than discrete (i.e. questions having multiple possible answers, being on a spectrum rather than definitive wrong/correct). In the end however, I feel like I’ve not made a niche benchmark but actually also a fully open-source benchmarking utility for people to play around with, test with their own test-bank and evaluate local large language models to find the one best tailored for their unique use cases. (💢💢💢 benchmarking time got recorded to root ~/ and so I can’t include in this project time) Final findings: 1: higher param models like Qwen3.5 9B and Gemma 4 12B are able to score high despite their low Q3 quants, with only their speed dragging them down 2: Nanbeige 4.2 3B and Granite 4.2 8B at Q4 are not considered to be mainstream open models (i.e. competing with Qwen or Gemma), but scored incredibly well given their small size. The only downside came with unoptimised runs and thinking traces inflating the time/response metric. 3: every AI lab except for Liquid (LFM) saw a direct proportionality trend, that for a higher score a higher time/response is required. 4: As a larger portion of the benchmark is now tied to Agentic tasks in a sandbox, there is a much larger variance in the distribution of scores with more recent models scoring comparatively higher, with less models scoring in-between compared to Waifmark 1. Now, the issues faced: UI issues from the refactor to FastAPI + frontend; fixed with page indexing. During benchmarking, many models timed out due to unstable mlx weights, a corrupted test bank during Day 4 with 6 times the number of actual roleplay scenarios caused a benchmark time of over 12 hours; once I realised the mistake at the end (due to ~600+ tasks that had to be reviewed) I reran the benchmark with the correct test bank (which had also been recently changed to 1/3 agentic + 2/3 roleplay, and consists of 4 times more questions than Waifmark 1. over 260+ out of ~600 total tasks had to be re-reviewed by a human, as the LLM-as-a-Judge flagged the answer. Most were agentic tasks that the benchmarked LLM did not provide an answer to but had demonstrated steps in its reasoning, with toolcall accuracies above 0%. This took a significant portion of my time to audit all scores. Devlog 0.1 (For a future project.) I’m trying out LLM benchmarking on my M1 Macbook Pro that probably needs a break! Prior to Stardance - Waifmark 1 was a benchmark testing local agentic capabilities and speech persona of small locally hosted (V)LLMs. However, my benchmarking process for Waifmark 1 was unstandardised and troublesome, and I kept all the data in excel out of all places. Dev2 It’s been so long but the UI looks a little better now (?) The process has been basically fully streamlined: HF model download -> pick quant/download type Benchmarking -> start server -> run benchmark, score/100 evaluation, ETA and live console monitoring Result auditing (Will continue to work on this) -> human review responses flagged by LLM judge Results showcase/leaderboard -> WIP Progress related to benchmarking: 3x question count compared to Waifmark 1 ~2x faster parallel automated scoring memory system (short/long ctx), agentic toolcalling (basic file reading/shell/research) functions fully implemented as part of local agentic benchmarking.
devlog 3: it’s been even longer but I’ve finally done enough to call this a “devlog”. basically everything has been fully rewritten in python. A few (quite detrimental) bug fixes are: nonexistent error recovery system (i.e. pausing benchmark + invalid responses) scoring rubric weights ignored in prompt sent to judge save files mislabelling A/B scoring only having one slider for better model several UI patches (floating navbar -> broken margins) added leaderboard from the original index.html currently visible on the github under “Leaderboard”, displaying top scores. devlog 4 - UI refactor streamlit was replaced with FastAPI + a frontend and i think it looks much better than previously now. issues + features: hugging face’s api (i.e. HfApi.list_models() was not filtered correctly during search) direct model import based on local dir is now possible openrouter judge was outdated and replaced, now user-configurable install now possible in a oneliner pip install -r requirements.txt && waifmark if a benchmark was cancelled, previously a bg server process vLLM workers would leak; instead process groups (start_new_session=True) and os.killpg gets rid of all processes when a session is ended. streamlit ran CORS and XSRF disabled; rebound to localhost

it was found that I accidentally committed using personal details and a local email. The gh repo has been wiped and recreated; here’s proof of the original repo and work. Thank you reviewers for your understanding.
As requested, README has been updated and rewritten by a human. There are also now three ways to install - directly through PyPI by doing pip install waifmark, or downloading waifmark-macos.zip and unzipping. there’s not a lot otherwise to say about this devlog

i started blare challenge and i created the schematic of my pcb today
currently working on my alarm clocks pcb layout
So i finished the pcb added sum stickers on it and started working on the case for it rn i have only made a simple layout for the case i will work on the case tomorrow
so i wanted to create an alarm clock that resembled the brick phone from 90s so i was trying to create the body the clock in fusion
continued the cad design of my alarm clock added back plate and cutout for usb c cable and added some screw holes for pcb
made sum further changes with the alarm clock added more button in 2*3 matrix and some other stuff
so made some changes both in pcb and cad readjusted everything in place...

Basically I started with the schematic, which was 80% easy and 20% crazy rabbit-hole cuz I decided I really want the possibility to make this battery powered and to monitor the battery level. Afterwards I moved on to the PCB and routing, which didn’t take too long but I ended up spending wayyy too long on the silkscreen and finding a nice font and all. Anyways, I’m really happy with how it turned out, so it’s worth the 4-5 ish hours I put into it :) CAD was awful at first. I was using FreeCAD, which is an awful experience imo (0 stars, would not recommend). Thankfully @EMT (formerly babydriver) saved me and showed me the joys of Onshape. I managed to get like 90% of the CAD done in about an hour and a half, which was awesome. I forget to record it with Lapse though 😭 There’s not really much more to say about the CAD, except maybe that I spent wayyy too long trying to make it perfectly symmetrical for the display so that it looks nice. Finally for the firmware I used C++ with Platform IO in VS Code (yes I started Hackatime this time). It’s currently a first draft, as I need to have the parts to do some testing before I can continue. However as of now it supports going into deep sleep (safely hopefully), being woken by a keypress, and drawing a date, time, and battery percentage to the TFT display. I’m planning to add alarms, time sync over Wi-Fi, alarms, 12H-24H time toggling, and a little config over an AP (probably just as a website). Again though, I’m really stuck right now cuz of the charlieplexing (kind of shot myself in the foot lol). I understand the theory and all, but I just need to see it before I can work with it. Anyways, that’s all for now. If anyone has any feedback that would be appreciated. If not, then thanks for reading this far and see y’all in the next one :)"}]...

The main gantry is done except for the pen lifting mechanism. The spools for the rope still need to be designed as well as the mounts for the end of the rope.
finished the pen lifting mechanism, spools still need to be created
first assembly of the wall bot done in real life! Many modifications are needed, mostly regarding clearances, but the entire pen holder needs to be redesigned because it holds the pen to close to the bottom of the bot right now
Redesigned pen holder to hold the tip of the marker at the correct depth when deployed. Things to do: Design spools Design corner mounts for the whiteboard to hold the string Program!
Finished wiring (wire management was a pain as always) Finished printing the whiteboard mounts for the string Started programming!
First Working Moments before failure The wall bot was successfully working and drew some very basic shapes like squares moments before the tether suddenly snapped and it succumed to the laws of physics. 🫠 The picture is of it working about half a second before it snapped Things to do: Get stronger string Program a method to command the bot to any coordinate on the whiteboard rather than manually programming individual steps
Finished New Mounting I used some old kite string I found which should be a lot stronger than the old thread I was using. Tomorrow I can start testing code again :)...
