I’m going to make a 3d printed case with space for a lithium battery that fits a nextech radio’s curcuit board, because we all know that cheap radio with smash the microsecond you drop it. So far I have built a Shrek Pod of a radio using stuff I had.
Big things! I have two working usb rechargeable radios my friend saw the duct tape one and wanted his rechargeable too! (with a proper case), Next I’m going to write a mod guide, as I have been taking pictures of the process and make some cases! The battery circuit is super simple, It’s just an 18650, a charger board and a fuse (ask why I am now using a fuse) the whole mod is less than $10
I’ve locked in with 3d modeling and learned how amazing flatbed scanners are for creating scaled reference for 3d modeling, I’ve made a super well fitting case in quite a short amount of time! Photos included below, next I need to make the case smooth and curvy to better fit the user’s hand.
I forgot to record myself assembling the case out of excitement, so I lost like 3 stardust there :(. aside from that the case looks great! 📻 💣 Modelling the curve was fairly simple, just a spline cutting off the top of the case and a bunch of minor cleanup for the random little bits I missed...

New Project This is my new project, a small, portable, rechargeable smoke machine for parties and cool effects in general. I dont actually remember how i got this idea, but as soon as i did, i delved into a lot of research to make it really compact while making lotsa smoke. Sketching As usual, i sketched out my ideas on paper, making multiple versions each time i got a new idea. I got some input from my science teacher, as well as a few uni students, especially on the capillary action performed by the fibre glass wick and the smoke liquid to be used. The sketches are attached below, with the final one being V3, as V4 is not practical to be put into action. The genral design is to have a central encasing around a fibreglass wick, which is wrapped with nichrome wire. The bottom of the fibreglass wick is dipped slightly in the liquid from the reservior, relying upon the capillary action to lift the liquid. The nichrome wire is then heated up, evaporating the mixture into plumes of food safe smoke, blown out by the diaphragm pump. The liquid mixture that i have decided upon is a 50//50 mix of Propylene glycol and Glycerin, which is food safe and easy to use and make. CAD I have done most of the CAD, and plan to have a few parts machined out of aluminum since plastic isnt the best for heat or storing liquids. I still am yet to add threads, since i dont know how to do that in Onshape, so please reach out to me if you know how to, i would really appreciate it. (Ive tried it a lot, and got it wrong every time). Thank you! Thank you for reading this if you got this far, hope you liked the project! Ill be posting an update soon!"}]...

Okay so… I wasn’t supposed to be doing Part 2 yet but my brain said “nope, we’re building again.” It’s literally been like 2 hours since I posted Part 1, but I got bored and my inner self just wouldn’t let me stop. So here I am, already working on the case walls and base plate.I swear this part nearly finished me off. The ground kept moving away every time I tried to place something. Good luck to me, honestly.
Spent this whole session trying to line up the PCB area and I swear Tinkercad was fighting me the entire time. The view kept snapping weirdly, the layout kept shifting, and I had to redo the same thing like five times. I didn’t hollow the case yet because I was too busy trying not to throw my laptop, but at least I finally figured out where the PCB space needs to go. Next step: hollowing the case… if I survive.
Restarted the case. Added cylinders. I’m just clicking things at this point and praying it becomes a Hackpad.
Worked on my Hackpad case again and honestly I don’t know what I’m doing 😭. I’m staring at Tinkercad wondering if I should just switch to something else because this app is beefing with me for no reason. I’m gonna start using the actual Hack Club guide because maybe that will stop me from losing braincells, and I’m trying to stop relying on AI every 2 seconds… but also I still don’t know if I need help or not. I’m just clicking things, aligning things, deleting things, praying things. The case is happening though. Slowly. Chaotically. I’m surviving.
Restarting my Hackpad AGAIN… now on SelfCAD. I tried making the 3×3 switch holes but SelfCAD started lagging, glitching, and refusing to let me duplicate cubes 💀 I had random cubes floating everywhere and the app was moving like it was underwater, so I cut the recording short before I lost my mind. Does anyone else’s SelfCAD act like this or is it just beefing me personally??
Restarting my Hackpad build again on SelfCAD… the modes kept switching and confusing me, and I kept adding blocks until I literally forgot how many I placed I’m not even sure if I’m going in the right direction, but after messing around with it for a bit I finally think I got the hang of it. Round 2, let’s see how far I get...
