Devlogs:
Made the base map design with no decorations and basic player movement, as well as a flashlight for lighting.
Hackatime decided to be funny and log the first 2 hours under my root directory instead of the project folder so its more like 3h 23m Added columns to hide the gaps between walls at corners, the player now has view bobbing to make walking and sprinting more natural. Sprinting now only affects forwards speed, not strafing or backwards anymore. F now toggles the flashlight on and off, added left and right doors that can be opened and closed by pressing the buttons beside them. Also added a raycast to interact with things, like the buttons.
Finally finished the first animatronic (functionally). It has basic pathfinding around the whole map, its speed is 10 when chasing and 3 when roaming (players speed while sprinting is 15). There are 2 modes: chasing and roaming, while chasing it locks onto the player and won’t stop until the player is out of sight for 5 seconds, while roaming it will move to random points in the map. It only chases when the player is in the cameras view and the exact center where the raycast detects it, the walls block the raycast so it can’t see through walls. Added some basic blue table and red arcade machine placeholders for future objects.
The animatronics get stuck on edges like doorways and tables less, added a stage for the animatronics to start on. Fixed a bug where you had to be standing exactly in the direction the animatronic was facing for it to chase. Added Freddy and Foxy with different mechanics. Freddy has a 15% chance to pathfind to the office (all of the others can but the chance is low at 1%), but gets stuck if the doors are closed. Foxy is as fast as the player (12 instead of 10). Debugging feature: can now switch between the 3 animatronics cameras by pressing 1, 2, or 3. Added a camera shake when the doors are closed.
If the animatronic doesnt move for 3 seconds its considered “stuck” and switches to roam (fixes them getting stuck on doorways), changed their collisions to ignore each other so they dont push each other. Doors start open and dont need 2 clicks to open the first time. Prepared the speed values and events for each night. Got rid of the ugly super strong lights from each animtronic. Added ambient lighting so the player isnt entirely reliant on the flashlight.
New Devlog Style :D New features: Pause Menu Resume Button Options Button (basically settings) Main Menu Button (temporary quit) Options Menu Graphics Tab (empty) Video Tab Fullscreen Toggle V-Sync Toggle Custom Resolution Dropdown Max Framerate input QOL Everything except the gui is paused while one is active Pressing escape pauses the game and also unpauses, as well as going back to the pause menu if inside the options menu. The options menu is designed as its own unique scene so it can be accessed from the main menu as well when that gets added, all of the options will be saved to a config file later but for now they are just predefined variables.
Devlog #7 New Features: In Video Tab Fov Slider Brightness Slider In Graphics Tab Fog Toggle Glow Toggle (makes everything slightly brighter) Ambient Occlusion (adds shadows to corners for depth) Anisotropic Filtering MISC Turned physics interpolation on All settings are now saved to a config file which automatically creates and copies itself over from res:// with default settings if it doesnt exist. Settings are only saved when pressing the save button, now I dont need to keep changing settings everytime it runs for testing. (everything works currently, but there will be a video when every setting is done)
Devlog #8 (FINAL) New Features Complete map overhaul in the video below, I spent around 15 hours designing all of the models in blender and then 6 hours actually making the map in Godot. MISC Fixed view bobbing animation running when walking against a wall Synced the screen shake to when the door animation finishes Unfortunately I don’t have enough time to finish this project in 5 days as well as doing 10 hours/week for Terra. I might continue this in Terra but probably not since the most of the remaining bits are more building than coding.

This took longer than it should have because I had to mess with positioning and stuff SEO I added a robots.txt file, page descriptions, etc. and tidied up some of the wording. The senders address is included in the ‘reply to’ header so the team member just needs to reply to the email. Devlogs:
First devlog! I started work on a team website for my First Tech Challenge team. I’m using the Astro web framework, Tailwind CSS and Cloudflare pages for hosting. this devlog I was learning tailwind and making some sections, and a cool header. the dev site is hosted at sitedev.botonauts.uk
I kinda forgot to devlog for a while, so this is a big one.. Link element This was my first astro component, it is for links so I didn’t have to style each one individually. You can specify a colour theme, if it opens in a new tab, etc. Navbar I created a navbar with some links for different pages (not all created yet) this was my second component, since I can now easliy add it to each page. Im pretty pleased with how this turned out, since I figured out the tailwind styling myself. Meet the Team page I created a second page for the site, for team members. I used a grid of member cards (another component), and I like the look of it. It went through quite a few revisions until I got the look that I wanted.
Contact Us Form I built a form on the website to send email to the team! I am using Cloudflare Functions (free & serverless) as the backend, which receives the name, email address and message from the sender via an API, validates it, and then sends it via a noreply address to the contactus address using Resend. The senders address is included in the ‘reply to’ header so the team member just needs to reply to the email. I had to learn how to use Cloudflare Functions for this, and re-learn some web API concepts from my earlier projects. Overall I’m very happy with the usability of the system!
Page updates, footer and an improved layout Added some pictures I added proper pictures of the team, as well as the roles and a picture of the robot on the robot page Added a footer I made the footer, it has a link to every page and also external sites Fundraising section There is now a section on the home page for fundraising, with an embedded element to the team’s gofundme Improved layout I changed the layout of the home page, so that the about, robot, and fundraising sections are in a column rather than a row. They change to be in rows again on small screens though. I think this makes the site look less generic Current work I am currently working on improving the mobile experience of the site, such as adding a menu to the navbar and improving the footer layout
Final devlog - Mobile improvements, SEO, and a README Ok this is my final devlog for this project before I ship, I got it to the point where I can present it. Mobile navbar I made a menu popout thing on the navbar for mobile users, so the navbar is less cramped. This took longer than it should have because I had to mess with positioning and stuff SEO I added a robots.txt file, page descriptions, etc. and tidied up some of the wording. README I added stuff to the bare README, which now explains how to use the project. I also updated the group picture with a new one
Ships:
I made a website for my FTC Robotics Team (Botonauts)! It has a contact form at the bottom, that automatically sends an email to me when someone submits a response (using the Resend API). I used the Astro web framework, which I had never used before but I learnt quickly and its pretty good. I found CSS styling the hardest, since this was my first project to use tailwind so it took some getting used to. I am proud of the overall design, I think it looks very modern and eye catching....

I had to work around that by using sites that actually allow iframe embedding, like Wikipedia. Once I figured out how iframe permissions work, the browser became a proper working app instead of just a blank box. I’m proud of how smooth the window system feels. The app manager just launches whatever you click, whether it’s an icon or something from the start menu. Themes were fun to add too, and switching between Light, Dark, Starry Night and Sunset feels surprisingly smooth. Each app has its own little personality. The Terminal has basic commands and a tiny secret message. Notes is just a simple textarea for quick writing. The Calculator handles basic maths without any drama. The Browser loads pages through an iframe, and Settings lets you switch themes. I also added keyboard shortcuts because it makes the whole thing feel more like a real OS, and the Konami Code easter egg is just there for fun. Testing it is pretty straightforward. You download the folder, move it somewhere safe, open index.html and start clicking around. Windows drag smoothly, apps open instantly, themes switch without delay and shortcuts work right away. It’s meant to feel simple, clean and a bit playful; just a lightweight web OS you can have fun with."}]...

Since my first ship got feedback that it used too much AI in the styling, I went back and changed some of the CSS so that it was mostly mine and less AI. I have made it much simpler using only my knowledge, and have managed to learn some stuff and keep it still looking good.
Since my ship was told it used too much AI, i essentially deleted the CSS rewrote the CSS myself.

our first step towards greatness. Yessir we officially have our own video output! there’s still a long long way to go before we actually render a picture, and there’s a huge memory controller shaped elephant in the room that i do not want to address, but for now rejoice.

The hdmi stream in reality is just like a graphics shader, each pixel and fragment are the same to me. custom gradients galore! the encoder was a little hard to lock down but i got it in the end hehe

Added the joke command, now /hackerbot-joke gives a random joke
Added the command to get a vulnerability . Now we can get a live vulnerability from hackerbot-vuln
Added functionality of password check, now we can check the strength of the password using hackbot-passcheck
My nest account is not yet approved, so I hosted in on another PC.Now it is live
