I am really proud of the optimizations i did for the project after pretty much finishing it. I am also proud of the way i implemented the keyboard (which was really hard) and the way it turned out. I am also proud of the error handling because it helped me level up in my overall knowledge in knowing how to handle errors. How is it built? It’s built in C using ncurses, following the suckless philosophy (optimized and only one source file) and most of the suckless style guide. There is a precompiled binary that was built with GitHub workflows using Ubuntu. The binary can be directly downloaded from the repo’s release page and can be used on (most) glibc-based Linux distros (build is compiled for Ubuntu and ncurses-v6 has to be installed on your system, original project was made with NixOS, which will also work). What I learned I learned how CPU’s operate (fetch, decode, execute), i learned about opcodes and parsing and i learned using bitwise operators effectively. It also taught me the importance of hexadecimal in programming. The project overall brought me closer to CompEng and how CPU’s work on a rudimentary level. It also taught me (as said) how to handle errors better and i think because of trying to make the project as suckless as possible the project also made me an overall better programmer. Known limitations / plans for the future Bugs can occur, even though no error that isn’t being handled by the program itself has been recorded. Still look out for bugs and if any are found write it to me as feedback please. As this project is a full emulator for CHIP-8 there isn’t that much to be done anymore which i am really proud of :) Closing word This project was pretty fun to make and it taught me a bunch. I think making it suckless majorly improved the program KEYBOARD REWORK Because i decided i wanted to make the project basically suckless i have decided that i needed to rework the keyboard functions. I replaced the keyboard struct with long long keyboard[16]. The index is now the key and the value is the value that key_pressed compares against when the instrcutions are called. key_pressed returns (now - keypad[k]) < ACCEPTABLE_DISTANCE which made the logic way smaller and easier to read. It gets an input string and other parameters (like printf would get) and print it to stderr. It does this by using varargs. If initscr() has been called it also does endwin() and if not it doesnt (a bool is turned to true after initscr() has been called). Now the program takes in multiple arguments (2 in total, more or less results in an error after which the proper usage is displayed) and the rom (if found) is copied and executed which makes testing multiple programs way easier. The issue with that was that with this simple implementation there had to be one of 2 mandatory pay-offs: Case A would be that the keys would be sticky and never get turned false, Case B would be that they get reset on every iteration of the main loop which is too fast for instructions 0x9E and 0xA1 in certain programs, as they need the value for multiple iterations. Simply holding down the key was actually too slow because of the way holding down a key works on linux which is why i had to do the following implmentation: Step A: Get the current pressed button, turn it to true and save the time the button was pressed Step B: Get the time distance between when the button was pressed and the current time . Loop through the keyboard array and check for keys that are true If a key is true and if the time distance is larger/equal than/to the threshold (50 ms), turn that key false. Been following the hackpad tutorial and I think it’s given me a basic understanding of how to use the tools at my disposal, moving onto the proper design stage now!
Finished the PCB design for InstroPad(1), as I’m working with hardware limitations due to the approved parts I had to learn interesting techniques in order to maximize InstroPad(1)’s capabilities, including learning switch matrixing. I’ve made the PCB deliberately too wide as this will assist with mounting using the M3 screw holes in such a way that the position of the PCB can be adjusted to accommodate for manufacturing tolerances. I’ve already started on the case design and can’t wait to share that next! P.S. The seeduino isn’t set that back now, this is an old screenshot lol.
After finishing the basic design for the PCB I have moved onto designing the case, this is my first time going solo when using CAD software, so I had to teach myself a lot of the tools. So far, the features of the case are: dual part design allowing for easy disassembly but easy manufacturing, a floating PCB mount that holds the pcb above the base of the case in order to give a springy feel as well as, easy assembly and adjustability for manufacturing tolerances as well as, providing the facilities to under mount components. Finally, I have introduced cutouts for the switches, display, rotary encoder and USB port, allowing the user to actually use InstroPad(1). Moving onto final case and pcb refinements next, looking forward to making this for real!
Finished the final version of the PCB, moved the diodes so they don’t interfere with the keycaps as well as changing the PCB colour and learning how to make silkscreen art (A picture of Robyn, a link to my github and the Hack Club logo). Time to finish the case and do the final renders next!
Finished the final case design and renders! I’m very happy with how it came out! Final step is to make the firmware, though I may make that after the fact if possible as it would be easier.
After 2hrs of pulling my hair out the firmware is finally done!! Just gotta bundle everything and it’ll be ready for the GitHub release. I had lots of fun making InstroPad(1) digitally and I can’t wait to build it for real!

I’m working on this super cool project, in my opinion, called Vrael. The idea comes from a need of mine: knowing which songs I listened to every year. I know, you could just take f. e. your spotify data, download it, extract every single record, and there you are. But what I want to achieve is far more interesting. I want to create something that does it live: every time a song plays for at least 75% of its length (maybe I’m gonna fix this value, I still don’t have a fixed percentage), Vrael adds it to that year’s playlist, automatically. No exports, no waiting days for Spotify to send you a zip. At the end of the year you already have “Lifetime 2026” sitting in your library, with every song that actually mattered to you, not the ones you skipped after 10 seconds. Sounds easy, right? Not really. Spotify’s API has no “this song was 75% played” event. So Vrael has to poll what you’re listening to every few seconds and do the math itself. And just checking progress / duration isn’t enough: if you skip ahead to the end of a song, you’d “listen” to it in two polls. So Vrael only counts the progress that could really have happened in the time that passed. If you skip ahead, pause, or restart the song, it doesn’t count. Then there are the limits: a Spotify playlist holds at most 10,000 songs, so I’m doing one playlist per year from the start (and if a year fills one up, it splits into 2026-1, 2026-2…). You’ll also be able to import your old Extended Streaming History, so past years aren’t lost. On top of that I’ll build a small web app (installable as a PWA) with stats like last.fm: top artists, charts, history, a listening heatmap. I must say that last.fm was something that really inspired me, so I have to give some credit also to them. What I did so far: the stack is Python + FastAPI + SQLite. I set up the project, the .env.example and the config module, which fails right away if your Spotify credentials are missing instead of breaking later. Next up: the database layer, where every play and every qualifying song gets saved. See you in the next devlog!"}]...

See you in the next devlog!...

Today, I finished the more projects page, chose the final colour scheme and ajusted the css to fit, I polished the home page while adding featured and current projects and adding some of my coding certificates to it. overall a good day coding.
This morning, I have added a custom 404 error page, I have done the final polish, and I have made sure everything matches the final colour scheme, and now about to ship it, thanks!
added Readme as the reviewer requested (kinda forgot ngl)

I am working on my personal website. I have a lot of ideas that I can’t wait to try out =D
Devlog 2: I edited the html part since the previous log was just me following the guide. I’m thinking of adding memes (not definite)
Devlog 3: I added more info (stuff about me, hobbies, projects), features (images, videos, nav bar) and I added a picture as the background.
Devlog 4: I removed the “style” attribute from html and made it css instead. I also made the videos into clickable links.
I added a typewriter-style animation to give my site a hacker-ish vibe. I also put a scrollbar and tried to make the site more aesthetically pleasing.
I’m starting to work on version 2 of my personal website. I researched on how to add a parallax effect and now I’m trying it out.
Devlog #7: i searched up on different kinds of animations I can add like kinds of cursors. I also added the parallax feature =D
Devlog #8:I made the boxes translucent and I made the line underneath the heading multiple colours.
Devlog #9: I changed h1 and the nav bar to match the theme of the others. I changed the bg too!
Devlog #10: I added a banner…I think I should change the font colour.
Devlog #11: I decided to add separate pages for Home, Projects, etc. instead of keeping them as sections on the same page. I changed the cursor too!
Devlog #12: I added a new page for entertainment instead of keeping it as a section in the homepage.
Devlog #13: I’m trying to add another parallax effect where the pictures move with the cursor
Devlog #14: I’m still trying to get the picture-moving-parallax effect..working on JS part now.
Devlog #14: I added shimmering stars
Devlog #16: debugged errors and added more animations
Devlog #17: I debugged some code then added the picture files in the same folder. I still need to change their name tho
Devlog #18: the parallax effect on the pictures is finally workinggg!!
Devlog #19: I added a new feature where if you click on one of the pictures, it will open it but without opening a new tab.
Devlog #20: I added a progress bar!
Devlog #21: I added a light/dark mode. I’m thinking of putting a bg for it tho.
Devlog #22: I made a sparkle click option!!
develop #23: More debugging, turns out my code wasn’t even in the body =/
Devlog #24: I added the features that were on the homepage onto the other pages as well. I debugged too.
Devlog #25: I made a cool border that’s animated!! =D
Devlog #26: I added the outline features to the section as well.

Devlogs:
First devlog I built the basic of any plataform using the godot built-in character body 2D and added a tilemap for easier level desing
Added the finish line and the timer The finish line is just a area2D and the timer well is just a timer node, next step is doing the silly mechanics of the game
Added the main feature of the game, the upgrade system like in a roguelike, every time you finish a run you will get to choose one of three upgrades, I proggramed it so upgrades can never repeat and are radomly choosen, also I made so the player can select the upgrade with the keybord or mouse(it will help if I want to make the game work on controller)
I added a skin system where the player can wear one hat and one costume Hats: Silly hat(on the image) Red hat(marios hat) Crown Costumes: Dream(on the image below) Batman Mario Lolipop(a lolipop) I also added the final tileset, it is white so I can change its color in the game engine, I also added a tilt when the player moves...

It is our team’s outreach bot, meaning that it will be used to attract new members into our team during special events. Framework & design The biggest problem when starting this is that the deprecated RoboRIO cannot use the modern robot frameworks (used to control the robot at a high-level). The roboRIO is incompatible with the new frameworks because they are tightly coupled to the newer hardware. To overcome this, I created a new framework that mimics the behavior of the current modern frameworks. It subclasses TimedRobot , allowing for each robot mode to be encapsulated in its own module rather than all lifecycle hooks needing to be in the same class. In other words, this eliminates the problem of a gigantic robot.py file that orchestrates the entire codebase. Here’s a diagram to show how each mode is separated: Robot Framework (inherits from `TimedRobot`) │ ├── DisabledMode ├── AutonomousMode ├── TeleopMode └── TestMode Testing Unit testing robot runtime behavior isn’t feasible. Therefore, I created integration tests to ensure the correct behavior of the lifecycle methods in each mode (i.e. entered, periodic, exited). Robot Code I completed the drivetrain subsystem as a model for the rest of the subsystems to follow. The file structure encapsulates each of the subsystems, making it impossible for other subsystems to talk with or command the hardware of any others. For example: drivetrain/ ├── io/ │ ├── base_io.py │ ├── real_io.py │ └── sim_io.py ├── constants.py ├── drivetrain.py └── controller.py **Note: The image is of our competition bot that we’re going to use for an upcoming offseason event - I couldn’t find one of Puppy.
