Major problem is analysis - lexical analysis is a tough nut to crack, especially with a language that relies on syntactic sugar as much as this one does. Minecraft doesn’t support many operations natively, so EVERYTHING has to be simplified in weird ways which creates a ton of things I have to end up doing in my analyzer. :/ The attached screenshot is my WIP type inference analyzer, and it is a freaking chonker. There’s a lot of little things to consider - #[repr] metadata, struct layout, types, all of that goes into figuring out what a type even is for a value. I decided to end up typing the values in-AST by using the &mut reference passed into the visitor (replacing the original node in memory), but I might change the approach later. I’m also not sure if doing inference before desugaring is a good idea, but only one way to find out, I guess."}, {"post_id": 2877, "ts": "2026-06-05T19:20:38Z", "hours": 2.1456, "text": "Crazy debugging tactics right here"}, {"post_id": 2807, "ts": "2026-06-05T17:00:47Z", "hours": 11.4789, "text": "I’m working on the new analysis engine at this point. The lexer and tokenizer are fully functional, and what’s needed now is type checking, inference, location/ID resolution, and the actual compilation to Minecraft function code. This will likely end up compiling down to a custom IR AST, which will make the final compilation down to mcfunction much easier, since it won’t have all the abstractions needed for the whole language’s features. Plus, it might help with simulation of values for debugging, too. It’s gonna be a long journey from here, but it’ll be worth it!"}]...

It’s gonna be a long journey from here, but it’ll be worth it!
Crazy debugging tactics right here
Oh boy this is gonna be something, it’ll be fun though. I’m also not sure if doing inference before desugaring is a good idea, but only one way to find out, I guess....

Devlogs:
I have made a NBT decoder and encoder. You can see it encode and decode in the terminal :D
I’m working on SNBT decoder, which is way more trickier than NBT ;-; I’m just done the basic part and planning for nested object.
The SNBT decoder is kinda work for now :D I’m moving to encoder (or should I >:D)
I forgot to make the devlogs so here is all of the updates: I’m heading towards making the main client All decoder and encoder have been merged to a single file for simpler file structure I’m making the encrypting things
I have handled all required packet so this should be theoretically playable. I also do some refactoring for a cleaner codebase :D
It is finally working 🎉
I’m on my way to reading chunk data. I have burnt all of my Github Copilot monthly credit only to realize that Copilot inserted a redundant read that collapse all reading latter :_D
This whole week is filled with debugging and small updates so here is the summary: Now the Client can handle Chunk datas, including blocks, biomes and block entites I also add more packet handling, events and decoder function. I’m moving to high-level client and the first function is move. Todo list: Inspect how Minecraft code handle movement and collision. Implement it :D
I’m working on parsing player chat message now
I’m making auth system and this takes me so much timeeeeeeeeeee Btw, I’m waiting for Mojang to approve my Azure app so I can test the auth API
Now I’m implementing the “move” method for the client, which invokes physics things, which is very very difficult for me That why I’m not updating regularly ;-; (I’m sorry)
I added VoxelShape and some math related to it. Now I can reconstruct the collision the shape of the block and, hopefully, mobs. Thats mean I’m ready to let my client be able to move, I hope so
I have implemented the base collide function and ready for the entity collide :D
Finally done the collide function ;-;
I’m getting through clipping function, which is mandatory to calculate the damage from falling
Hello, sorry for forget logging regularly In the last whole week, my only job is looking at Minecraft code, ask Claude what the beep beep is that, arguing with myself do I have to do this and then continue Btw I managed to write the trimmed Minecraft physics engine and ready to test it out Unfortunately, my code isn’t reading the Registry well so maybe tomorrow :D P/s: If you still read this, have a good day and please vote for me ;-;
MY BOT CAN WALK NOW 🎉
NOW MY BOT CAN WALK ON STAIR I think it is ready to be publish ONE MORE TIME, I’m very sorry for not logging this painful process much, please please please forgive me
Oh, I spent 5h for setting up documents? That’s crazy :D Btw, I have setup an auto document page using TypeDoc. I also setup Github Action for automating publish package and build document page.
Sorry for another 8-hour devlog ;-; Now MineJS support 26.2 I’m working on a system for mapping version and packet so MineJS can support multiple version at the same time, instead of one atm (because the packet ID is hard-coded). I also make another tool for scrapping Minecraft Wiki for packet structure (disclaimer: This is not an automate running so it will not spam the Wiki, please don’t ban me ;-;). Thats it, have a great day
I do so much work that I forgot what to summarize here So before, everything is placed in TCPClient, which is fine for hard-coded packets. But now, I’m making the dynamic packet translating for multiple version supports. And while making it, it need reference from TCPClient, then TCPClient need to a reference of it and so on… So I have split the functionality into corresponding space. So now, each of class has its own responsibility: TCPClient for throwing and receiving packets through TCP connection VersionCodec for translating packets Dispatcher for handling packet SharedState for holding states So that is the whole update. Hope youre enjoy your day, also this project :D
Hello again, sorry for a almost-9-hour devlogs I’m just making the auth part for joining premium server and the thing is not going well for now ;-; I have registered the app for accessing Minecraft API but by some magic, I’m still blocked I’m also making the feature for verifying message signature
Hello again, I’m sorry for not update this project much since I’m working on the other. I just found out that the Mojang just revoke my app approval without any notification ;-; Btw, I fixed the bug that ignore the chunk packet and update the README about the current situation ;-;
The bot can chat now I have to reimplement the bitset to let this run btw
I have completed the reading slot part. I just know that a slot can hold that many data ;-; Btw, I’ll soon complete the container part, meaning that you can use chest now
I added container But it is just clientbound Add container and block interaction soon
I have implemented the Use item on packet for interacting with block, but seem like there was something wrong with it because it is expected to return an open screen packet but nothing returned. Beside that, I have implemented the tablist. Now you can see the header and footer Also, I’m preparing for supporting version 26.3. I’m wondering whether should I make a new ship. P/s: Rust rewrite when >:)
The container is finally opened, turn out there is a bug in my code which tell the server the wrong location of the chest ;-; P/s: Thank you Claude for helping me find this issue
I’m not doing much these day beside fixing bugs because I’m quite busy with uni homework and I’m quite bored now I post this devlog to submit all of my hours before Stardance end
Seem like my previous devlog isn’t the last devlog I shipped to Stardance I have added a lot of comment to events and methods Since most of vote tell me to add more docs.
Ships:
This is a Minecraft client package, allow you to create Minecraft bot and joining server. This ship provide some basic functionality of Minecraft bot, including: Walking around Getting blocks Also, this ship include the low-level client for talking directly to the server.
There is a lot of changes since the last ship (I have made more 15 release since it). To sum up: Multi version support :D 26.3 is partially supported because there is some issue with decoding packets Container is here (but you can’t interact with it yet, just viewing) You can chat now I have implemented online account protocol but there is an issue prevent me from testing it so it is considered as unstable for now. There is some small changed in protocol Fix some bugs in physics engine...
